<content type="html" xml:lang="en-US" xml:base="http://lincolntrail.typepad.com/about_ltls_members/">&lt;p&gt;Camera bugs and photography novices of all ages are invited to enter a photography contest at Marshall Public Library in July.  This contest is one of many upcoming events relating to the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition, “The Way We Worked”, which will be on display at Marshall Public Library from November 19th through December 31st.  Elizabeth McConchie of Studio E Photography is generously sponsoring the contest and encourages everyone to enter!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;Photograph scenes or items that depict something having to do with the “World of Work”.  Consider subjects or themes relating to “Dirty jobs”, “In the Office”, “On the Farm”, “Who’s the Boss?”, “The Great Outdoors”, “Slaving in the Sun”, “On the Home Front”, “Factory Fun”, “Toiling with Toddlers”, or anything else that relates to WORK!  Entries will be accepted from July 25th through July 30th, at 5:00 PM at the library during regular library hours. Photos must be 8” x 10” or larger, either matted or framed, and may be either color or black and white.  Entrant must be a resident of Clark County. An entry form, which is available at the library, must accompany each photograph.  Do not put your name on the photograph. Photos will remain on display in the library until August 31st and must be picked up by September 3rd.  The library is located at 612 Archer Avenue, in Marshall.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;Categories for judging are Age 12 and younger, Ages 13-18 years, and Adult, plus “People’s Choice”.  Anyone may vote for the “People’s Choice” winner one time by August 5th at 5:00 PM. Entries will be judged and announced on August 5th. The winner in each category will receive a one hour mini-photography workshop with a professional photographer, plus a book placed in the library in their honor. The People’s Choice winner will receive a free family photo session and one 8” x10” photo.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;“The Way We Worked”, an exhibition created by the National Archives, is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Intuition and the Illinois Humanities Council.  Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

You will see funny and amazing magic, hilarious antics, and Landry’s furry friend Snowball the magic rabbit! The program will focus on the importance of reading and visiting the library often.  Come to this free program for all ages  -- and bring your camera!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;On Saturday, July 16th, at 10:30 AM, the library’s Teen Advisory Board will perform a puppet show called “Joe and the Button Factory” with the library’s new worker puppets.  After the puppet show, children may do a button craft with Miss Jamie.  Please register for this free program by calling the library.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

<content type="html" xml:lang="en-US" xml:base="http://lincolntrail.typepad.com/about_ltls_members/">&lt;p&gt;Marshall Public Library is pleased to announce that Marshall native Teri Jo Patterson will give a book talk and signing on Thursday, July 7th, 2011, at 6:30 PM (Central) in Marshall Public Library’s Dale McConchie Meeting Room. Patterson is a 1982 Marshall High School graduate and currently resides in Terre Haute, Indiana. Her book, Corky and Lizzie - A Visit from the Tooth Fairy, is her first published work and this will be her inaugural book signing.  Her love for children along with her own creativity inspired the writing of this delightful chapter book for children ages 8-12.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;The book’s characters Corky and Lizzie are best friends. They meet every morning under the big apple tree to catch the school bus. Lizzie gets worried when Corky doesn’t show up for school. She later finds out that he lost a tooth and went to the dentist.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;Books will be available for purchase from the author for $15.00 after the program. They are also available online.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

<content type="html" xml:lang="en-US" xml:base="http://lincolntrail.typepad.com/about_ltls_members/">&lt;p&gt;Danville Public Library is offering a free six-session "Cooking/Gardening Summer Camp" for children from Kindergarten through 6th Grade.  The six classes will take place from 10 a.m. to Noon on July 6, 8, 13, 14, and 15.  The July 14 session will be a swim day at the public pool in Garfield Park, but the rest of the sessions will be held at the library.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;The camp is free.  Registration is required and limited to the first 15 registrations.  Please contact Danville Public Library at 217/ 477-5225 for more information or to pick up a registration form.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;Maria Sermersheim will conduct the program.  She is certified in nutrition education, is very experienced in working with children, and has a BS in Agriculture.  She has conducted many nutrition and gardening programs for children at the library.  With grants from Keep Vermilion County Beautiful, she created the fruit, vegetable and flower gardens on the west lawn of the library and uses them as learning tools for children and teens.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;During the six sessions, children will be taught proper cooking techniques, food safety, healthy diet, recreation activities, basic gardening and easy delicious cultural recipes.  Each of the six sessions is geared towards an important topic in nutrition and being physically active.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;It is with great pleasure and gratitude that the Library Foundation announces the 2011-2012 Officers and Board of Directors.  The Board represents a diverse group of individuals that care about the Library and the opportunities it offers to our community.  They give of their time, expertise, enthusiasm, and support on a regular basis at Foundation Board meetings and committee meetings throughout the year.  They use their creativity and tireless efforts to conduct fund raising efforts to benefit the Foundation and ultimately the Library.  Their enthusiasm for the Library is second only to their generosity. &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

<content type="html" xml:lang="en-US" xml:base="http://lincolntrail.typepad.com/about_ltls_members/">&lt;div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;&lt;p&gt;Marshall Public Library is pleased to announce that Marshall native Teri Jo Patterson will give a book talk and signing on Thursday, July 7th, 2011, at 6:30 PM (Central) in Marshall Public Library’s Dale McConchie Meeting Room. Patterson is a 1982 Marshall High School graduate and currently resides in Terre Haute, Indiana. Her book, Corky and Lizzie - A Visit from the Tooth Fairy, is her first published work and this will be her inaugural book signing.  Her love for children along with her own creativity inspired the writing of this delightful chapter book for children ages 8-12.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;The book’s characters Corky and Lizzie are best friends. They meet every morning under the big apple tree to catch the school bus. Lizzie gets worried when Corky doesn’t show up for school. She later finds out that he lost a tooth and went to the dentist.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;Books will be available for purchase from the author for $15.00 after the program. They are also available online.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;This program is free and open to the public.  Marshall Public Library is located at 612 Archer Avenue, in Marshall, Illinois and at &lt;a href="http://www.marshallillibrary.com" target="_self"&gt;www.marshallillibrary.com&lt;/a&gt;.  The library is handicapped accessible, however if special arrangements are needed, kindly allow 48 hours notice. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

<content type="html" xml:lang="en-US" xml:base="http://lincolntrail.typepad.com/about_ltls_members/">&lt;p&gt;On Thursday, June 23, the Danville Public Library Book Club will discuss John Updike's novel, "The Witches of Eastwick", beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the second floor Conference Room.  Copies of the book may be borrowed through the library’s interlibrary loan service for free.   New readers are always welcome.&lt;br&gt;The library will show the film version of the book, also titled “The Witches of Eastwick”, on its big screen on Monday, July 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m., as part of the library’s  film and discussion series titled “The New Classics: Great Books to Great films from the Past 50 Years.”  The film stars Jack Nicholson, Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer.  A brief discussion comparing the book to the film will follow the screening.  The film series is made possible by a grant from the Danville Library Foundation.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

<content type="html" xml:lang="en-US" xml:base="http://lincolntrail.typepad.com/about_ltls_members/">&lt;p&gt;June 13 – August 20:  King Arthur has issued a Reading Challenge this summer to kids from preschool through age 12 to read 5 books or 200 pages during the Danville Public Library’s "Midsummer Knight's Read" program.  Each time they reach a milestone, prizes will be awarded.  In addition, the Children’s staff has planned regular programs Monday through Friday about knights, ladies, dragons, and other things Medieval.  For details on individual programs, call the Children’s Department at 477-5225 or visit www.danville.lib.il.us.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;June 29:  Danville Public Library’s “Wednesdays at One” film series for teens age 12 – 18 will show “Remember the Titans”, starring Denzel Washington as a football coach hired to work in a recently-desegregated Virginia high school, Will Patton, and Wood Harris.  The film will begin at 1 pm, in the 1st floor Meeting Room.  The film is based upon real events that occurred in 1971.  No registration is required.  More information is available at www.danville.lib.il.us/teenspace.htm, or on Facebook under “Danville Public Library Teen Space.”  The film series is made possible by a grant from the Danville Library Foundation.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;July 5:  “Elester Wilkerson presents”--Local performer and radio personality Elester Wilkerson will appear at the Danville Public Library on Tuesday, July 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the first floor Meeting Room.  Well-known for his literary interpretations, he will perform some of his favorites:  James Weldon Johnson’s Creation; Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven:; Alfred Noyes’ “The Highwayman”; Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s “Wreck of the Hesperus” and selected speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  This event is sponsored by the library’s African/Black American Advisory Committee.  Mr. Wilkerson appears weekly on “Sunday Morning Ministry” on 105.7 FM.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;
