As the headline says, this shoe is nothing like the "classic 608" that is in fact, the best selling athletic shoe of all time, men's or women's. I learned about this impostor the hard way (so did my wife), by believing what the company, and now the resellers like Amazon are trying to claim, that it "just the new version".

It's a totally different sneaker; much harder, less cushy, the V2's break down faster, and are made of cheaper components. If you check other websites, you'll see reviews from other loyal NB customers, like myself, who've even bought and worn out a pair of these V2's. The reviews are remarkably similar.

It's not just a small difference either, it's huge. I keep trying without luck, to get online stores to clearly state "V2", but as you can see, Amazon has not yet done this, I suspect, because the name 608 is literally sneaker legend. I too have worn 608's for several years. When I purchased 2 new pairs last year from 2 different sources, though the number was the same, the arch support in the new ones was no where nearly as good. I tried several other places and found the same to be true on all the pairs. When I called the New Balance Company, they said that they didn't understand because the old ones and new ones were made the same way.

I can't find a price anywhere near that on the Web.

I bought these shoes on sale and eagerly awaited my delivery so I can try them out in a training session. I typically run 12 miles and these shoes felt great during my road run. I hardly noticed the shoe on my foot. They are definitely light and have a good workmanship. They look just like the picture and are true to size. Although after my run, my feet were aching slightly and I believe it was due to the modest padding/gel on the heel of the shoe and midsole. They just don't have material on the bottom to absorb an impact (notice that I am comparing them to my present shoes Asics 2130). Overall, they were a good buy but I will suggest using them for short distance runs or treadmill training. Thanks for your attention.

I tend to pronation, and these kept my ankles straight up, without rubbing, pinching or being too tight. I wear an 8, bought an 8 and they fit perfectly, with lots of room to wiggle my toes. I am going to say that I will have to get used to them, only because my old shoes were non-supportive, so my feet have gotten lazy. I love the gray/aqua color -it is so much better than white or black! My only complaint is that the shoe laces are too long, and I have to tie a big bow in them.

Now i am not 100% sold on the toning ability of these shoes but i figured it would give it a shot. I bought these shoes from Dick's Sporting Goods because i was there and they had my size but i would originally planning on getting them from amazon. There was no price difference.
These shoes are totally comfortable. I took them out on a 5 mile walk the first weekend i got them and my feet had no complaints. You can tell that there is something in the sole of the shoe to make you slightly off balance but nothing that would make you fall over. I am pleased with these shoes and plan on getting them in the black as well. I would recommend to anyone.

I have always loved Keen Slippers. I own several pair and they are wonderful. Because of the toe protection I can even hike in them. We live in Hawaii and they are my favorite foot wear. These new keen shoes are cute and well made, but at this point I am not wearing them much. They feel comfortable when you put them on, but because the strap in not lined,like the rest of the shoe, the velcro is very rough. I should have listened to the reviews. I will probably have to just put a band aid on my feet where they get irritated. I hope I can break them in, but I think shoes should fit right when you first put them on.

I had been looking at the "other" brands shape-up shoe & trying to decide if I wanted to spend that much $ on it. I went to a local store that carried both brands & tried them both on. The AVIA felt & looked better, and with a store coupon, was almost 1/2 the price of the other brand. These are very light-weight, too. As soon as I got back to my car, I put these shoes on. I must admit, I was a skeptic when I first heard about these--toning while you're walking, don't all shoes do that? Isn't that part of the purpose of walking?
As a 25+mile a week runner, my skeptism grew, however, after recently recovering from a broken ankle, I was desperate to make the most of my doctor-perscribed short workouts, so I went on a limb and tried these. After a week of daily use (45 minutes tops), I could not only feel the difference but SAW the difference. My female co-workers kept commenting on how shapely my legs were looking and were asking which workout class I was going too.
It's been almost two months now and I'll tell you what: my thighs are slimmer, stronger and have some really nice muscle definition! As a distance runner I occasionally have knee or hip pain, however, walking in these--no pain whatsoever, in fact, I would argue that walking in these a few days a week has helped lessen the pain in my knees and hips.

I went to a local store here and tried these on then the sketcher shape ups. I did not like the shape ups, they felt too snug and felt like they ran small in size. Not to mention the sketchers are ugly compared to the avia avi motions. The avia are roomy and true to size and felt better on my feet.Plus they look like a normal shoe. Plus big savings for the same benefits. You cant go wrong with these. I wear mine all the time especially when i walk our dog for about 2 to 3 miles every other day.

I do a lot of off pavement walking. About six to 10 miles per day. I purchased these shoes to be my third pair in rotation. I am a 20+ year wearer of New Balance shoes for off pavement and trail walking and running. This particular shoe had a good, wide toe box, and was sufficiently roomy that my toes did not hit the end of the shoe. Both excellent features. However this shoe didn't begin to have enough padding for the ball of the foot or the heel. The inner sole and shoe construction are hard and the heel feels like it is completely unpadded. After six miles of early morning walking my feet were tired and I was beginning to have heel pain. I have never had heel pain before. If you want a soft, padded shoe, avoid this one.

First pair of shoes (athletic or otherwise) I have purchased that I've had no blisters or rubbing the first time I've worn them. I'm new to minimalist running so I only ran a mile in them and walked a mile-however that was enough to sell me on them. I have heard there's a band that cases them to run narrow-I have narrow feet so I can see how that might bother someone. One of the shoelaces was frayed but a five minute call to New Balance and they had replacements in the mail-not a minus for the shoe but a big plus to New Balance customer service. The are a little more light dove gray than white-they seem a lot brighter in the picture. I like the actual color better.

Hopefully more experienced minimalist runners will also rate these, however for me they feel fantastic. I could have ran five miles in them, no problem!

You really need to take it slowly and use these shoes for off road. I felt fine after a couple of runs but then went for a longer run on some hard surfaces and got achilles tendonitis. I have gone back to old shoes for a while. I would suggest using them in conjunction with your regular shoes. Use for short periods at a time increasing the use very slowly and keeping to soft surfaces. Your muscles need plenty of time to adjust.
The shoes themselves seem great but being so light I wonder how durable they will be. They are comfortable and fit my narrow feet nice a snuggly:)
