Beginning Exploration

In our culture, we have just begun serious discussion and exploration of the question: individually, what is the outcome of spiritual learning?

Often in the past, familiar examples of spiritually advanced travelers fell into the category of popular 'Hollywood characterizations." For example, I remember my friends when we began our spiritual journey wondering, after we had suffered and purified self, 'will God talk to us and tell us how to part the Red Sea?' Or after we perform 3 miracles, will we be ready for sainthood?' Being unfamiliar with actual outcomes, often we made-up jokes about all of this.

In our culture, the skills and capacities of 'wise one' have been transferred to a whole host of 'professionals.' We have guidance counselors, fortune tellers, therapists, life coaches, clergy, physicians, scientists and self-help books to tackle questions like: How do we reach human excellence? At what point do science, religion and medicine meet? Or how is spiritual development helpful in our highly complex daily life?

Fortunately, for all of us, the answer to these questions and methods to reach human excellence, through spiritual development, were perfected millennia ago. Authentic traditions exist, and slowly their hidden effect upon individuals is percolating its way into our main stream culture and every day consciousness.

Plan for Humanity

These traditions assert: humanity, as a whole, has a cosmic mission/plan and over the ages is reaching higher. Within this Plan, it is each person's destiny to reach toward human excellence and become a more completed person. This development is accomplished one person at a time and includes the balancing of many skills and capacities. One of these skills being- spiritual development; and in order for this development to mature, a period of spiritual learning must occur.

The outcome of this multi-faceted development- is a person who is equally concerned for their neighbor as they are for themselves and their family. Daily, the completed person

uses all of their abilities to make the world a better place, because they are attuned through spiritual development to the higher impulse. They go to work every

day, raise their family, and commute to work on over crowded highways. They are part of the world, but have kept a part of them self detached and sacred. This aspect surrenders to the higher impulse, is part of their soul, and helps integrate all of their capacities into our modern, hectic life.

Individual Awakening

In the 1950's, these traditions began purposefully exerting their guiding influence upon our western culture. In order for these influences to mature and take hold, many things occurred and will need to occur. One of these being selected individual's awakening, understanding the outcome and potential of a more spiritual life, and exerting their newly awakened influence upon their individual sphere of activity. In this way, the world will become a better place, one person at a time.

Today, this is a potential waiting to bud; both in our society and within the individual.

Spiritual Sight

That which is permanent is seldom known to the senses. It must be perceived by another capacity. Until this capacity or organ of perception is awakened, we are like children playing with fire. Sooner or later our actions will create problems for us.

The completed individual, or enlightened one, is able to temper their expectation with reality. Often it is our reaction to daily events and not the events themselves which pose the lasting problem.

We must learn to view and accept what is present; not what we want or expect to be present. By clouding reality with expectation and desire we shift off center. This lack of balance, in turn, prevents us from perceiving what is actually before us.

This capacity or necessary 'attitude' to view what is actually present may be learned. It is the birthright of humanity and is taught to those who are capable of using it in the proper way. This spiritual sight is a matter of function; it becomes available so it may be used to benefit others. By learning to view what is actually present, we are then able to perceive higher or spiritual realities which manifest in this realm.

Old Sufi of Meditation for Spiritual Learning

Many hundreds of years ago there was a Mother who had Four children. She was alone and needed help. She prayed for help and asked an enlightened Sufi Master for advice.

He came and pronounced the work for all of the Children. One he said to become his servant. The other to join the army. The other to become a shopkeeper and the last to help all the others.

Over the years the boy who joined the army progressed, became heroic, won many battles and became a General under the King. The Boy who became a shopkeeper became very successful, bought many large shops and became very rich. He was supported by his brother who helped him manage the businesses and left him free to start many other businesses.

Everyone in the family was so happy with the Sufi master that they gave him a place in the family, gave him many gifts and consulted him regularly.

At last the boy who was the servant to the Sufi Master became Enlightened. He asked him how he knew which occupation to give to himself and his brothers.

The Master said it was easy. He looked into their past lives and saw that the one who joined the army had a predisposition to becoming a murderer. The one who became a businessman shopkeeper had a past life predisposition to being a thief. And the one who helped the Business brother had no soul, would only do what he was told and so for many lifetimes had been the other brothers Accomplice in their murdering and thievery. He liked following orders.

Any other occupation and they would all have been put in jail and executed.

The Sufi Master said that the boy who was his servant had the best chance of Enlightenment because he was an older soul, had much experience in the occupations of the others in past lifetimes and because of that had seen deeply that these occupations always failed.

Always there were people competing for the same things. Ultimately the General was defeated and the Businessman became bankrupt. Ultimately, even if able to hold onto your gains, “You can’t take it with you”, Death came along and took everything. Life after Life!!!

For this reason the Servant of the MASTER was the only one who stood the chance of enlightenment.

And even with that predisposition, with bad teaching he would never reach his goal. Unless humble and able to find a Master, normally he would become an unenlightened Priest and become One of the Blind, leading the Blind, another accomplice of the murderers and the thieves.

That is why he needed the help of the Sufi Master and that is why he had kept him close, within his Buddhafield and removed many of his blockages to enable him to become Enlightened.

The Blind, the Businessman, the General and the Accomplice

This story comes from a Sufi Tale many thousands of years old when Manu created the caste system. It tells the truth about you and humanity. It tells the truth about the Law of Manu and the caste System of India and the Four Castes

The Bhagavad Gita says this about the varnas:

The works of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras are different, in harmony with the three powers of their born nature.

1. The works of a good Brahmin are enlightenment; peace, self-harmony, austerity, and purity; loving-forgiveness and righteousness; vision and wisdom and faith. A bad Brahmin, the person interested in Enlightenment which in this world has come to mean the Unenlightened Priest who are blind to the light of the soul and accomplices to the totalitarian state.

2. These are the works of a good Kshatriya: protectors of the weak, a heroic mind, inner fire, constancy, resourcefulness, courage in battle, generosity and noble leadership. Kshatriya, the Warrior, charged with protecting the state. The King, the General, the Samurai. The bad Kshatriya, the General, is usually the Totalitarian Murderer and the torturer.

3. Trade, Business, agriculture and the rearing of cattle is the work of a good Vaishya. The bad Vaishya, the businessman is the thief who uses the general and the accomplices to attain his monetary end through the control of armaments, petroleum, and pharmaceuticals.

4. And the work of the Shudra is service to all the above, the Laborer in this world. He likes following orders! The bad Shudra is the Accomplice helping the thief and the murderer and the torturer – a person who has taken the Ring.

My Master, Swami Satchidananda knew all of this. They asked him about the Rulers of the World. “You are a famous man, you have shaken the hands of all these leaders and Prime Ministers. Just what do you think of them?”

First of all he said that it was very dangerous to speak of these people or even mention their names because although we are assured that James Bond does not exist, it is amazing the number of accidents and suicides in the world.

For this reason he said he would tell a story.

If you had an election for the leader of the council in a town and seventy-five percent of the people in this town were thieves, murderers and their accomplices, just what sort of a person would they elect?

But let us not miss the point; the meaning and significance of this history. The ancient stories point to a trauma disappointment formed splitness in the personalities of all humanity as being the cause of all evil on this planet for thousands of years.

They also teach of Enlightenment; the Integrating techniques of Love, Meditation, Energy Enhancement and the underlying techniques of the Kundalini Kriyas, The Five Element Circulations of the Qi or Chi or Kundalini Energy, the Alchemical Meditational Formulas or Guided Meditations of Hermes Trismegistus as a means of overcoming this trauma formed splitness which is the cause of psychopaths, Universal DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder).

Meditation and the higher techniques of Meditation are the cure of that splitness.

Until today, I am always impressed with the mind (deceased) Rama Mangunwijaya about education. The idea seems to brighten, inclusive, critical, which provides awareness to the students return to original education, the education spiritual in schools modern era as lightening. In the book Post-Indonesisa, Post-Einstein (1999), for example, Rama Mangunwijaya schooling never say that the world, we do not invite students to think explorative and creative. The whole atmosphere of learning is memorization built, without adequate understanding. As for asking-let alone critical thinking-is-practically taboo. Students are not educated, but in-drill, trained, learned, arrested for being a submissive, not much different from training the animals' intelligent and skilled "in the circus

The wrong management for education away made narrow-minded and erroneous thinking, so that changing a student turn into fascism, and even reproduce , robber, thief etc. This models could almost the progress of the nation. Closely related to that, there arose an attitude of morbidity in relation to the truth. Mental corruption and stealing and falsification of data into the main menu of daily activities.

Who deny the fascist nature of nobility of reason, even further alienate themselves from the activities of life that upholds the dignity of humanity, seems to have become a phenomenon that is endemic in our society. The rise of the phenomenon and the behavior of such anomalies, is an implication that the education system failed in building a whole generation and plenary

First, during their studies at school, students serve as "boy mom" who always agrees with the command of his master. They should not be critical, debate, argument. As a result, they seem so polite in school, but a polite no outside school.

Second, the nation's children who seek knowledge in school education are almost never given the emotional control and spiritual education. Whereas the role of spiritual intelligence can make the future generations to create the perfect generation. Our education policy and curriculum has not been given enough time and space to provide spiritual enlightenment to the students. Even more alarming is that teachers are often trapped in a situation to learn a rigid routine, monotony, and strain through the presentation of material that is more like a man preach, and tend to "kill "the reasoning students who are confirmed by the dogmas and myths myths.

Therefore, in the days to come the day of spiritual education must be able to paint all the existing educational activities in Indonesia, so that a generation that complete and raised the dignity of the nation

Though the life of luxury will bring arrogant attitude and arrogance increasingly distanced themselves from the real spiritual life. Information of the counseling that one also as a source of motive makes a human being farther away from the real spiritual life, such as by giving the message that life is relaxing, like see to tv, recreation, shopping, the salon was not say to spiritual away or road to high spirituality.

We must always think to life for next time life, we also should feel the watch by the gods, with the feeling we are being watched more careful in carrying out our activities as social beings and as individual beings, we have a responsibility and obligation that must always implemented.

In the spiritual life of each has its own different way among scholars, the one with the scholars' other.
