Nokia E5

The Nokia E5 has been equipped with 3G, Wi Fi and boasts a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging support.

Nokia have ignored Sony Ericsson's attempts at stealing there valued customers with the Vivaz Pro and gone for the throat with this potential Blackberry beater; the E5, aesthetically is very similar to the Blackberry Curve, the keyboard is very well sized for typing messages and the screen has been installed horizontally for a wider perspective on messages and web pages. The colour variety the E5 is available in is much ranged; it can come in Carbon black, white, grey, brown and blue, Nokia have tried to make it accessible but again, you cannot imagine seeing anybody younger than 35 with a brown mobile phone.

The interface is application based software which gives you the opportunity to download additional content at the Ovi Store; you can select from thousands of apps, loads of games and plenty of themes to keep your E5 experience fresh.

Another benefit of the Nokia branding is the Ovi messaging support with there free Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat features. Setting up e-mail accounts from the E5 is very easy; accounts can be set up and handled with Gmail, Hotmail and other POP users along with Exchange ActiveSynch, the IM client can process information from popular sites too with GoogleTalk and WindowsLive the pick of the bunch. Nokia have set up the E5 with social network integration to satisfy the modern generation; Facebook and Twitter accounts can be managed along with others; a lot of this messaging support is handled by the phones 3G technology which is consistent through the phones online activities.

A tidy 5 mega pixel digital camera has been pre-installed for the snap-happy users; it manages stills and videos perfectly well and you can utilise the E5's sharing features to upload content to the web. The device is also equipped with a music player and video player respectively with them both handling multiple audio and video codec's comfortably. The entertainment section of the phone also has an FM radio so you can keep up with your favourite shows and the 3.5mm jack lets you plug in and listen with your own personal headphones. Lastly, Nokia have remembered to add there Ovi Maps application to prevent there avid followers from getting lost on there way to there local Nokia store.

The Nokia E5 is an executive smartphone; it performs to a professional standard and looks the part too. the screen provides you with a decent overview of web pages and messages and the phones entertainment area is packed full of goodies for you to play with, the Ovi Store has tons of downloadable content for you to wade through and the interface is a familiar field of play for many mobile phone users. Nokia have achieved there goal in creating a powerful 3G device which will provide its users with everything they need to keep an organised business and social life.

Nokia C3 Vs Nokia C5 - Which is Best For You ?

Nokia C3 is integrated with 2G, GSM network.

Android OS Motorola

Verizon Wireless has started rolling out with the new Android 2.1 update for the Motorola Droid. It is an OTA (over-the-air) update. But if you are eager to get the update sooner, then you can perform a manual update using the following instructions.

Instructions :

Things You'll Need:

         Motorola Droid by Verizon Wireless

Update file - link provided below

Step 1
First of all, download the update file from this link: http://android.clients.google.com/updates/voles/signed-voles-ESE81-from-ESD56.fa406da6.zip
It will be downloaded as a "zip" file. Don't extract any of the files-keep it as a compressed zip file.

Step 2
Rename the file as "update" (without the quotation marks)

Step 3
Remove the microSD card from your Motorola Droid and connect it to your computer using a memory card reader. Transfer the update.zip file to the main directory on the memory card.

Step 4
Turn off your Motorola Droid and insert the microSD card back into the phone.

Step 5
Turn on the power. Simultaneously press and hold the power button and the letter "x" on the keypad. Hold for a brief moment untill you get an exclamation mark and triangle on your screen.

Step 6
Once this symbol shows up, press and hold the volume up button and the camera button at the same time. If it doesn't work once, try doing it couple of more times before the bootloader screen shows up.

Step 7
Using the d-pad navigator on your keyboard go down to and select "sdcard:update.zip." Click enter or press the center d-pad button. The update will commence, let it complete without disruption.

Step 8
That is all, now you can enjoy Android 2.1 on your Motorola Droid. Try out some of the new features such as live wallpapers, pinch-to-zoom on the internet browser, 3D photo gallery, news and weather app, and the pre-installed goggles apps.

Tips &Warnings

It would be advisable that you have a decent charge on your battery while performing this update. You don't want the phone to shut off in the middle of the process.

The file update.zip must be placed in the root directory of the microSD card (the place where all the other folders are located).

You can verify that the phone has been updated by going to Setttings - About Phone - Firmware Version

Android OS

Android is the fastest-growing smart phone platform in the United States. There's at least two Android devices on every carrier, with a large variety of form factors and manufacturers. The downside to having different Android phones with custom skin such as HTC Sense, Samsung TouchWiz and Moto Blur is fragmentation of the OS. Google has updated its Android OS several times in the past year, but not all devices receive the update at the same time. Depending on the carrier and manufacturer, some phones receive the update as soon as its released (Google Nexus One) and others take months. Updates for Android OS are downloaded over the air and are checked in the phone's "Settings" menu.

The update will download and your phone will restart.

Tips & Warnings

When installing an over-the-air update, connect to a Wi-Fi network when possible. OS updates are data-intensive and will install faster over Wi-Fi. Connect your phone to a wall charger during the update process.

Some Android updates may wipe the data off your device. Before installing an update, be sure to sync your phone with the Gmail account associated with it. Apps that have been purchased through the Android market are available for download even after a data wipe. You do not have to purchase them again.

Droid VS Iphone

All the smartphones coming out this fall in time for the holiday season, and there's only one (besides the iPhone of course) that everybody's talking about. It's the Droid, of course (and in case you're wondering, like we were - yes, they did have to pay Lucasfilm's a boatload of money for the rights to use the Droid name). Is it the iPhone-killer? Isn't it? Let's find out...

This Droid, unlike R2D2, runs on Google. And if there's one OS that all eyes are on to see if they can take a bite out of Apple, it's the Google Android OS. Even RIM's BB OS is no longer being seen as a competitor for Apple so much as the enterprise camp to Apple's multimedia jungle. But now here's the Android system, the internet ring of this 3-ring mobile OS circus...or maybe it's the big top itself, since enterprise and multimedia require internet to function. And that, in a nutshell, is why everybody, including Apple, is scared of Google. Now as the for the Motorola Droid...

There have already been several other Google phones put to market since Android first came out. So what's the big hubbub about the Droid? Why does everyone seem to think this is the smartphone that will finally outdo the iPhone?
1. Price. The cheapest Droid is $99; the cheapest iPhone $199. But AT&T is rumored to be trying to change that with a $99 8GB iPhone supposedly coming out in time for the holidays.
2. Keyboard. The Droid has a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and a good, tactile, responsive one at that. The iPhone has none.
3. Android 2.0. Like iPhone 2.0, this is first major upgrade to the Google mobile OS, and in this case, as most others, that means major improvments. But Apple did pretty well with their iPhone 2.0 upgrade.
4. 5 megapixel digital camera. That's on par with any decent digital camera that doesn't have a phone attached. The iPhones meager digital camera has always been one of its downfalls, and here Moto takes full advantage of that.
5. The internet. Yes, we know we said that, but it bears repeating because as great as Google's reputation is for all things web, that's how poorly the iPhone'sweb capabilities have always been rated. Here, again, this time thanks to the zippy Verizon network, the Droid prevails.
However, as new and shiny as the Google Android OS may be, neither it nor Motorola and Verizon's articulation of it in this Droid still pales in intuitiveness and user-friendliness to the "all-powerful" iPhone. Maybe someday, but for now...these are not the Droids you're looking for.

Motorola Droid

A new classical Motorola Android phone is coming possibly in July 2010. Motorola Droid X is perfect smartphone which can compete with nice HTC Evo 4 or iPhone 4G. It will be the largest phone available in US market because it is even larger than HTC Evo 4. Let's take a specification review of the iron phone Motorola Droid X.

Operating System and Hardware Specification

It runs on Android 2.1 OS with latest MotoBlur extensions.Motorola Droid X has 1 GHz TI-OMAP 3630 processor. It will come with 512Mb RAM and 8GB Flash ROM.

Display and Screen Resolution

With a 4.3" inches touch-screen with high resolution, Motorola Droid X provides its costumers an excellent display results. A 854 X 480 screen make it the largest available screen. Beneath this screen, there are four buttons to perform usual functions. Motorola Droid X has a very cool keyboard than other smart phones. You can easily type you data without lifting your fingers.

Call Quality

Motorola always has the better call quality than others. This time Motorola tested a new features. It has 3 microphones in it which can deliver you almost perfect voice even you are standing in a noisy market. 2 out of 3 microphones work for other voice cancellation and one purely used for voice receptivity. Now you can talk clearly where other phones failed.

Multimedia & Memory Status

A complete test of its sound quality, clarity, loudness has been taken by a reliable website Cnet.com. They give 8 / 10 to the sound quality. I think It is enough to say about multimedia of X. Motorola Droid X is coming with a huge built-in memory of 8GB and another 16 GB microSD card is included (Supported up to 32 GB)

Camera & Connectivity

A wonderful 8 MP camera it has.Although its flash light is a bit weaker than iPhone 4G or Evo 4G, but Motorola Droid X has wide dynamic range in daylight shots. Still pictures are much brighter than other smart phone.

From the connectivity point of view, it has the Bluetooth, USB tethering mode and wireless functions with WPA2-protected, 802.11g Wi-Fi hotspot. It has cool Internet connectivity like Google, Yahoo! Mail, various other mail services, Microsoft Exchange, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and photo sharing services.

Why QWERTY is Invented

The QWERTY keyboard is invented in the early 1870's. The man behind this great invention is Christopher Sholes, who was an editor and also a printer. Through trial and error he perfected his invention and overall it has taken him six years in order to finally create the perfect type writer. In 1878, a patent is created for a type writer. It was a drawing of a type writer that specifies how the letters and alphabets are located.

QWERTY Cell Phones

These days there are way too many alternatives to the excellent QWERTY. We have Maltron keyboard, Dvorak Simplified Keyboard and many more. These alternatives might not be better while some of them might be similar in many ways.

QWERTY is used widely for mobile phones these days. This is a very good act considering the fact that most mobile phones act as a mini laptop as well. With features such as emails and instant messages, we could use a QWERTY keyboard to speed things up. Imagine having to type using the conventional keypads, which would take up more time when composing emails or instant messages.

Unlike SMS, instant messages such as Yahoo Messenger is much easier to use with QWERTY. Besides emails, we would also be using QWERTY in mobile browsing. Imagine browsing different blogs or websites and having to type slowly when we are searching for something important. With this cool invention, we can speed everything. It is all about convenience. It would be much better to have

QWERTY keypads on mobile phones that offer emails and instant messaging features.

The invention of QWERTY is indeed the most important for laptops, computers and mobile phones. Thanks to this great invention, we can surf the internet much better on mobile phones. No matter where you are, QWERTY is part of our life. Therefore, why not learn to use it and love it?

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro - Enhancing the Best Symbian

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro

"Having announced Sony Ericsson Vivaz™ in January we are now adding a sister phone that includes a QWERTY keyboard along with the touch screen for a superior messaging and entertainment experience." Those are the introductory words of Sony Ericsson's Marketing Business Manager Daniel Sandblom when unveiling the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro at the recently concluded 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

At first glance it does look every inch like the Vivaz but now it has a tactile QWERTY keyboard sliding out. The Vivaz Pro is consistent with what seems to be a new emerging trend in the Sony Ericsson portfolio for 2010 releasing smartphones in tandem with the "pro" affixed to the brand to indicate QWERTY slider model.

It is positioned to compete with the serious QWERTY smartphones aimed at business and executive types. And yet this is a Symbian phone using the more consumerist S60 5th edition platform with none of the desktop feel you find in the multitasking Windows and Android smartphones.

It's really just another media and entertainment-centric smartphone that aims to look serious with a "pro" appended to its name. But just like the Vivaz, the pro is one competent high end smartphone worth waiting its release this 2nd quarter. It is expected to come in two body color choices, black and white and will have a free 8 GB microSD card included in its retail package.

Remarkable HD Vidcam Features

Its exquisite imaging and video recording features belie any pretense to being a corporate smartphone for the no-nonsense executives. But for the young and trendy corporate geek who likes to be entertained besides, the Vivaz Pro is one top gear to consider. It uses a PowerVR Series 5 SGX graphics engine that the earlier Satio used but clocked at 720 MHz instead of 600 MHz. This enables the Vivaz Pro to do its stand-out feature - deliver high definition 720p video recording with video light and continuous autofocus.

Few handsets can approach this feature, except the flagships from Samsung and HTC. Unfortunately, HD video playback lacks DivX and Xvid video file codec support, but there's nothing a 3rd party app can't solve.

Other High End Features

Imaging from the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro is downgraded from the 8-megapixel resolution of the Vivaz to the just 5 megapixels in the Pro. But you still get anautofocus and touchfocus camera with LED Flash, face and smile detection and geo-tagging. Stills and HD video taken from the Pro gets brilliantly displayed on its 3.2-inch Wide-VGA resistive touchscreen with 16 million colors and comes with a scratch-resistant surface. You also get an accelerometer but no proximity sensor that can disable touchscreen sensitivity in a call.

Its other hardware specs include 3G radio on the dual band UMTS with the HSDPA/HSUPA a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio on 2G. There's WiFi 802.11b/g with DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, microUSB 2.0, built-in A-GPS, stereo FM receivers, 3.5mm headphone jack and TV-out (VGA resolution) ports. You get a decent 75 MB phone memory expandable to 16 GB from its microSD slot. Talk time is simply outstanding at 12.5 hours and 18 days in standby from a 1200 mAh Lithium-polymer battery.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 - Sony's Key to Recovery

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Sony's XPERIA line up is headed for what might turn out to be its best mobile phone in a decade. Correction: the best smartphone ever made. We've drooled over the first two XPERIA handsets but more on their looks as they eventually delivered short on expectations. We can only think of one reason about their lackluster performance - they had Windows Mobile for their operating system.

Enough said about a garbage OS. This time around, the struggling mobile phone giant is pinning its hopes to regain lost grounds with the right platform - Google's open source Android. With presumably unique enhancements to make it Sony's own and calling it UX, short for User eXperience, the Android 1.6-run Sony Erickson XPERIA X10 looks like a real winner that can topple occupants sitting on top of many mobile phone totem poles. And that includes the iPhone 3GS.

Uncertainties amidst the Promise

Now if Sony Ericsson has the same marketing savvy as Apple, it might just be able to do that. Unfortunately, it's becoming clear that it has inherited the same stupidity of mother company Sony that launched Blu-ray and the PlayStation 3 - products that have yet to recoup their investments with Blu-ray still struggling with just 8% of the home entertainment market 3 years after its launch and the PS3 business losing $4.7B for its 2009 fiscal year.

For a start, they've missed out on the best time of the year when people are throwing away money on just about anything and everything under the sun, smartphones included. In the meantime, you have the likes of Motorola Droid, Acer Liquid A1 and the HTC HD2 stealing the show and pulling the proverbial rug right under its absence from the holiday shopping scene.

People may have short memories. They have forgotten and forgiven Sony Ericsson for foisting a half-baked P990i flagship smartphone in 2006 that forced its users to update the firmware almost every other month just to make it work right. Now, as the company is about to launch what could be the best ever smartphone on the planet, Sony Ericsson is shooting itself on the foot.

In addition to missing its launch date and moving it to the first quarter of 2010, maybe in time for the Chinese celebration of the new Lunar Year, it is standing firm on using an older Android 1.6 which, by the time it gets released, will already become an antique operating system. Initial hands-on experiences with the prototype have already noted its response lags despite a powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

We can only wonder what other stupidities Sony Ericsson did to the otherwise capable Android Donut that other smartphones like the Acer Liquid uses with utmost success on an underclocked Snapdragon.

Promising Features

Sony is resting hopes that a forgiving market can still make the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 a hit. We won't doubt that it could. Afterall, you have a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon behind its luscious 4-inch Wide VGA capacitive touchscreen that makes the iPhone child's play. It has an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED Flash and 8x zoom that is without parallel among flagship imaging smartphones out there. Other than these, it has the features we all expect from a full-features smartphones like 3G/3.5G, a secondary VGA camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP, 3.5mm AV port, microUSB 2,0, expandable memory up to 32GB on the microSD and a battery that Sony Ericsson doesn't want to divulge as yet. But if Android fans don't find the patience to wait it out and settle for the equally competent and gorgeous Android phones coming out this Christmas, Sony Ericsson might as well postpone its release anew to Christmas 2010.

Nokia C5 - The Ultimate C Series Smart Phone

Nokia seems to be bucking the trend with its newest C-5 model, which resembles an iPhone, at least the screen. And it appears to be an instant hit with cell phone and smart phone consumers. With the C, E, X, N series devices, Nokia is able to deliver the right personal tech at the right price to each and every user, from the low end to the high-end techno geek and early adopter. The C-5 model is not the top of the line phone, although it looks it, and it's not anywhere near the bottom either. It's more like middle of the road phone with the right lines and the right look for the right price.

The phone has highspeed packet access for data transfer, which is nice, and it takes very detailed and high-resolution pictures with over a 15 GB hard drive. It is not yet available in the US, but the company is selling them like hot cakes on pre-orders to their dealer networks in Africa, Middle East, Asia and Europe. The phone has the ability to use Google and Microsoft email, and instant messaging services. It is obvious Nokia wants no part of the brand war, only wants to sell a ton of phones. But will they you ask?

Could be, as it sells for about $180 and it is fully integrated for the social networking teen, able to use all the applications on Facebook and Myspace, as well as several other foreign social networking websites. Nokia is delivering what the people want, and Nokia cell phone smart phone technology has found niches to exploit as Apple, Google, and others look for a way to the end-all-be-all to all users. Nokia is doing well in the market place and their profits in 2009-2010 seem to indicate that the consumers are pleased.

It would be very hard to debate that Nokia will be the leader in handset sales in 2010, as they cleared over a billion in profit in 2009, and sold some 1.83 million phones. Some believe that HTC is going to rock their world in coming years, but it's doubtful if that will happen this year. Nokia has things going on, and thus, it does pay to check out which phones in their line of smart phone models fit your fancy, that is if you are presently in the market for a new cellphone. Please consider all this as you do your online cellphone shopping in 2010.

An 8-Step Process to Solve the Great Smartphone Debate - iPhone Versus EVO

The two factions of supporters are as polarizing as politics. Most Mac users and iPhone lovers are drooling over Steve Jobs' keynote presentation yesterday at Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) 2010. Android loyalists shrug their shoulders and point out a laundry list of reasons why the iPhone is not a threat to the fast-growing Droid(TM) market.

Personally, this debate hits me at the core. I am a self-proclaimed Apple slappy yet I purchased the HTC EVO last Friday on opening day. Thus far I love the EVO (and will love it more as soon as the Android 2.2 OS - also called Froyo - becomes available). However, I have to admit that in reviewing the WWDC rollout I began to question whether I should take advantage of Sprint's 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

Honestly, I'm still not 100% sure on which route I'm going to go. On one hand, I love the synergies with my other Mac products including the idea of a centralized iBook that is accessible from my laptop, iPad, or iPhone. Yet on the other side I welcome the ability to view Flash videos online and take advantage of the seamless integration with Google & Gmail.

Like politics, the only real way to make an educated decision is to put aside personal preferences, become aware of one-sided reviews, and leverage an easy yet objective trade-off system to guide my decision-making.

Here's a simple, 8-step process that you can utilize to solve the iPhone versus EVO debate for yourself (and consider applying a similar process when the next presidential election rolls around, too):

STEP 1: Put aside personal pride, preferences or vendettas that you may have associated with either smartphone

STEP 2: Educate yourself on the features and functions of each smartphone

STEP 3: Conduct a cost analysis being careful to look at lifetime costs that include the cost of the smartphone, the cost of monthly service, replacement costs, etc

STEP 4: Assess your current situation and identify the most important goals & objectives that you have for a smartphone

STEP 5: Align your goals & objectives with the features and functions of each smartphone (for instance, if on phone video editing isn't something that helps you reach your goals, then the iPhone's new iMovie editing feature should not carry much weight. It's a great feature but is it valuable to you?)

STEP 6: Add up the number of features and functions from each smartphone that align with your goals & objectives (for advanced-users, you can do a weighted trade-off)

STEP 7: Remind yourself of STEP 1

STEP 8: Make your decision, buy the smartphone, and do not look back

This approach will help bring an objective perspective to your decision-making process. Do not worry about which phone is "better". Instead, spend your time on identifying the better technology for your particular situation.

Deciding upon a smartphone is no different than a business looking to purchase a software application. The overwhelming majority of time, a business will purchase technology without any regard of their goals, objectives, or processes. They let software dictate their business.

Do not make this same mistake. Do not let smartphone technology dictate the way that you go about your day. Instead, understand your own personal processes, goals, and objectives so that you can select the appropriate smartphone to optimize your efforts.

Android Cell Phones - The New Era

Google Android plans to expand its platform by launching five new devices in 1H 2010, including handsets from Motorola, Dell and HTC. An open source interface, Android was released almost a year ago with expectations that it would revolutionize the smartphone market. A survey conducted at the close of 2009 demonstrated that Android was indeed roiling the market, Motorola's Droid smartphone being the biggest beneficiary.

Android: Open Handset Alliance

Android, enmeshing Internet-style innovation and openness to cell phones, delivers a complete software set for cellular devices, including

1. An operating system
2. Middleware
3. Key mobile applications

Android has been built on the open Linux Kernel to help developers generate compelling mobile applications that takes maximum advantage of the handsets. It uses a custom virtual apparatus, which is designed to increase memory and hardware resources. Being open source, Android can be liberally diversified to incorporate the latest technologies as and when they emerge. This platform will continue evolving as the community of developers constructs innovative mobile applications.

Android does not discriminate between a cell's core and third-party applications. All applications can be built to have the same access to a device's potential, offering users a wide range of applications and services. Users of devices constructed on the Android can customize their phones - they can change the phone's homescreen, dialer style or even instruct the phone to utilize its preferred photo viewing application.

Motorola Droid Review

Change Wave Research believes that the Motorola Droid is the greatest Android phone till date and the biggest competitor for the iPhone. With sharp edges and angular looks, this cell phone line proves its difference from other smartphones, most of which are rounded and sleek. Motorola Droid has a 3.7 inch screen with a resolution of 440×854 pixels.

A high-end, solidly-built cell phone, the Droid is thinner than most of its QWERTY slider counterparts. The keypad has flat keys, which are larger than most others, and therefore more comfortable. The Droid also utilizes a micro-USB to charge. The device has a 3.5mm audio connector at the top and a 5MPx camera, along with a dual LED flash behind. A rear speaker that proves handy during games and for the conferencing mode is situated beside the battery compartment. A shutter button for the camera provides greater stability than screen tapping or trackball pressing. The best part about the cell is its web browsing capacities. The Motorola Droid also offers good email support.

Latest Mobile Phones 2010

Hardly a day passes without the launch of a new mobile handset in the United Kingdom. Each new device carrying with it additional features and add ons. Now this development is possible only with the mobile communications technology progressing at the speed of light. Only a few months back we had a set of mobile phones compatible with 2G networks. Now we have the 3G mobile phones. Some of the 3G phones like the Applie iPhone 3G have not wasted any time in making a more advanced version of the 3G phone itself. Now the Apple iPhone 4G have been announced for a early June, 2010 release.

If Apple is doing it, we can rest assured that Research in Motion (maker of the famed Blackberries), HTC, Nokia, Samsung, LG Sony Ericsson, Google, Motorola, Acer all are either about to bring out their own versions of the 4G compatible phones are already there in the market.
For a year wrought with global recession, terrorist attacks in different parts of the world, swine flu and quire a few natural disasters, 2009 did not do badly at all when it came to the mobile phone industry.

But 2010 is all set to become a watershed year in the history of mobile handset. Such has been the impact of totally path breaking and futuristic mobile phones arriving one after the other. The Apple iPhone 3G, Apple iPhone 3GS and the soon to be launched Apple iPhone 4G, Apple iPads, Blackberry Pearl 9105, Blackberry Bold 9700, Blackberry Storm 9520, Blackberry Curve 8520, Blackberry Curve 8900, HTC Legend, HTC HD, HTC HD2, about to be launched HTC Desire, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, Sony Ericsson Vivaz, Motorola Milestone, LG Cookie, LG Cookie Fresh, Nokia X6, Nokia 3720 Classic, Nokia C3 Symbian S40, Nokia 9800, etc.

And backing all these amazing mobile are equally incredible mobile deals of all kinds - contract, SIM free, phone free, and pay as you go deals. Further, with the advent of mobile broadband there are mobile broadband deals as well.

The list is endless. And to think that we are only in the first week of May with a good six months to go in this momentous year for mobile phones.

The Top 5 HTC Apps For 2010

With the iPhone dominating the smart phone market it can be easy to forget there are other phones out there with similar (and maybe better) features. The HTC Hero Android is just one of the many smart phones that deliver exceptional performance with sleek usability. Although the iPhone has the app store that attracts thousands of applications, there are some amazing HTC apps currently available.
Below are the top 5 HTC apps for 2010 - in no particular order:

1. beebPlayer - With the BBC iplayer not currently being available as an app, beebPlayer steps in brilliantly to allow you to catch up on TV shows you have missed. Not only can you catch up on TV, but you can stream live shows too. Although this is a non-official application (not developed by the BBC), it has the look and feel of BBC's iplayer which makes it very easy to use.
Price: FREE
Availability: UK

2. 3DCoche - How about this for awesome? Augmented reality is the new 'in' function for smart phones, and 3DCoche uses it to amazing effect. The point of this HTC app is to make it easy to find your car in large car parks in places such as football stadiums and shopping centres. Once you have parked, you simply save your current position with 3DCoche and that's it. The app projects the position of your car on top of the camera view of your mobile, allowing you to use the augmented reality view and Google Maps to find its current position.
Price: Availability: All

3. Twidroid - Like most Twitter clients, Twidroid is simplistic and easy to use - but it does the job very well. There are many different features available such as support for DM's, retweets, lists and URL shortening. For amateurs, an in depth technical know-how is a must. Those who are brave enough and curious to dive deep into the guts of the blackberry operating system would be interested to hear more about the tool used to access the hidden engineering screen. This way, it's a pretty easy process.

Guidelines
Now, from your home screen, click on to Shift + Alt + H (or Face + Alt on certain Sure Type devices such as Escape or Pearl + tap the top left thrice, followed by once on Sure Press on the top-right.

Now, this would bring up the Help Me screen. Simply take the values shown there (Apple's version, which includes uptime, PIN number and bracketed value) and the number of time you wish to have the Help Me screen get replaced by other engineering screens.

Type the figures in the Thyth-o-matic engineering screen's unlock code generator. Try not to close the Help Me screen, as the code generated is specific to the uptime. Now type in the unlock code offered, and your Help Me screen would automatically get switched to the engineering screens for that particular duration.

Technical Know-How
Unless you specifically know your job, you wouldn't like to mess around with the things in there as there are few relatively low functions which may mess up with your Blackberry.
Nevertheless, it's worth enabling technical utility or out of idle interest, as the case would be. You can observe the battery's internal temperature and check memory usage and internal logs, besides other stuff.

Hardcore techies can check out the algorithm used for generating the code, as the automated code won't probably last long online, especially after RIM Legal has its rage on.
HTC has introduced US first 4G Smartphone named "HTC Evo 4G" powered by Google's Android OS 2.1 designed for Sprint. Is it going to able enough to stand in-front of iPhone?

Specification
The EVO 4G has a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8650 processor, 512 RAM and 1GB ROM. The EVO has GPS, light and proximity sensor, a digital compass and a G-sensor. An 8GB microSD card will be available with it and it supports up to 32GB.

Display and Audio Properties
The Evo 4G has a 4.3 inch, 480*800 pixel TFT LCD display. It has 2 cameras; one is of 8 megapixels with a flash and the forward facing camera of 1.3 megapixels for video calls and has 720p recording. It also has an HDMI output, 3.55mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Blutooth2.1 connectivity.

Network Functionality
Another important functionality is you can share your network connection up to 8 other devices through its wireless making it a hot Hot spot.

Application Support
Flash 10.1 plug-in and a YouTube HQ application is preinstalled in EVO 4G.

4G Network
Sprint's wireless services are available in 27 cities in US and its collaboration with ClearWire Mobile WiMax network will help it to expand and cover the big stated of United States.

Competition with iPhone
HTC EVO 4G with no doubt seems an excellent Smartphone as you can judge it by its specification. Analysts are doing observations on its comparison with Apple's iPhone. Lets see how it will compete with iPhone and other Smart phones in the market. After the release of iPad and its success we are looking towards Apple to launch iPhone 4G. There has been news of its leaked pictures which became a very popular story. May be its just for the hype and Apple gives us surprise with something very different then the one we seen as its leaked prototype. But the advantage that iPhone has is they have the Brand name so it is easy for them to cover the market very quickly but no doubt that HTC EVO 4G shows good reviews by the analyst.

Apple iPhone 4G - Is it Worth the Purchase?

What better way to start an iPhone 4G review than by remembering, with critical analysis, the tagline that introduced the newest iteration of Apple's blockbuster product.

"This changes everything. Again."

Indeed, the original iPhone changed the landscape of the telecommunication industry, toppling cellphone leaders Nokia and Samsung in a short period of time. Apple has become, or has once again become, the top name in consumer electronics, thanks in large part to Steve Jobs' brainchild.

But everything evolves, and Apple's flagship product has to evolve as well.

Enter the Apple iPhone 4G.

Recently released in the market, many people are wondering - does the newest model of Apple's mobile phone really change everything, again?

In this Apple iPhone 4G review, we will take a look at the new features of the product, and determine whether or not they are truly groundbreaking, or they're additions that current iPhone owners can live without.

Ready?

The most apparent change in the iPhone 4G is its sexier, lighter body. It's said to be 25% thinner and lighter than previous models. Of course, the weight difference would be barely noticeable, and the change is merely aesthetic. This alone should not sway people into buying the iPhone 4G if they already own an earlier unit.

But wait! There's more!

The iPhone 4G boasts of a higher resolution with its display capabilities. Maximum display output is pegged at 960 x 540, half of the display that can be projected by a Full HD LCD/LED TV. This is a wonderful improvement. Many people watch videos with their portable devices, and the new resolution has just made Apple's flagship product into a powerful, mini multimedia monster! Of course, the line's audio playback is already legendary. The higher resolution only adds to the value of the product.

Previous iPhone models were capable W-iFi net phones. But the 4G now possesses 802.11, which makes it an even better portable internet device.

The line is also known for its fantastic camera, despite its low resolution. But the 4G bumps this up to 5 megapixels, and adds a front camera for one of the unit's most prominent additions...

Yes, the iPhone 4G is now capable of video calling! The usefulness of this added feature, however, depends on the user's preference. Though majority may like the new video calling capability of the device, some people may find it as a mere novelty.

In the opinion of this iPhone 4G review, what makes the model truly stand out is the longer battery life that the company has promised. Our enjoyment of this mobile phone, after all, depends on how long we can use it. The iPhone 4G boasts of 7 hours of talk time, 10 hours of video, 10 hours of internet browsing using Wi-Fi networks, 6 hours of online usage over 3G networks, and of course, the bread and butter of every iPhone unit - over 40 hours of audio playback!

So, is the iPhone 4G worth the purchase?

For users who don't own any previous iteration of the line, then the 4G model is the perfect entry point.

But for those who already own an iPhone, whether it's 2G, 3G or 3GS, then waiting for a truly radical change in design philosophy with regards to the line itself would be the more prudent way to go.

Top 10 Used iPhone Buying Tips - We Cover 16g, 8gb and 4gb Used iPhones

Used iPhone Tip #1: Seek Out Refund Options

Long before you put your money into a used iPhone for sale; make certain the provider of the Phone has a decent return policy, and one that preferably supplies you with a cash back option. Upon the receipt of the used iPhone, inspect the item carefully for exterior damage and interior water damage, and then test the item to make sure it works. If it fails to work, make sure you follow the guidelines set in the used iPhone return policy carefully; some providers of used Apple iPhone 4g, 8gb, and 16gb products place a strict time limit on the time that the consumer has to return the item for cash back or exchange.

Tip #2: Be Selective About Your Used iPhone Purchase

If this is your very first time investing in an iPhone, familiarize yourself with the various features that accompany the iPhone; this way, when you see all the offers out there, you will be able to know precisely what it is you are getting for your money. If you are not new to the iPhone buying experience and you are interested in upgrading your old Apple iPhone 4gb device of any other iPhone for something with more features and options, again familiarity with Apple iPhone offerings is needed. When a consumer knows what is currently available on the market, they are in a better position when it comes time to make their buying decisions.

Tip #3: Buy a Used iPhone with the Appropriate Carrier

Not all iPhones work with every single carrier and this is probably one of the biggest reasons for having to return these phones back to the sellers. The buyer of a used iPhone must seek out a quality phone which is completely compatible with the consumer's preferred cell phone provider.

Tip #4: Verify FCC Compliancy of Used iPhones Since the year 2005

The Federal Communication Commission has implemented a regulation whereby all mobile phone devices must be GPS enabled. The reason for such a regulation is simple; when an emergency arises and the cell phone user dials 911 assistance, if the device is GPS enabled the individual placing the emergency call can be located. If, by chance, a consumer gets a used iPhone that is not GPS enabled, then the item will not work. Therefore, it is best if the consumer questions whether or not the used iPhone in question is FCC complaint and GPS enabled before paying for the device.

Tip #5 Buy a used iPhone with a Verifiable ESN

All cell phones, including used iPhones, come with an electronic serial number. This number is needed in order to activate the phone that is purchased. If the ESN number is one that has been listed as stolen or lost, the used iPhone will not activate when the consumer goes to set up service. If shopping for used iPhones online, be sure to look and see if the seller of the device willingly offers the ESN number of the product they are selling. With an ESN number you can instantly verify whether or not the phone can be easily activated and if the phone is blacklisted.

Tip #6: Verify the Used iPhone Seller's Experience

When buying a used iPhone it is really like buying any other product: you are going to want to know as much about the used iPhone seller's reputation as you can. Check out the iPhone seller's experience by reviewing any feedback that might be presented, by examining what the used iPhone seller stocks, and by asking the seller a lot of questions. The better a consumer gets to know who they are interacting with, the smoother the used iPhone buying transaction will be. If possible, make sure that the seller's primary business focus is on selling used cell phones so that you can rest assured in knowing that the seller specializes in the product that interests you.

Tip #7: When Buying From Online Auctions Know the Seller

If you are electing to buy used iPhones from an online auction, you will find that it is easier to identify a quality seller than you might first imagine. When seeking an auction seller of a 4gb used iPhone, an 8gb used iPhone or a 16gb used iPhone make sure you take a couple of minutes to examine the feedback supplied by other buyers. Feedback will reveal to you how timely the seller responds to questions, how fast the item was shipped and received, and if the seller is reasonable to work with.

Tip #8: Know the Details

It is interesting to note that mostly everything that a buyer has to know about used iPhones is often neatly spelled out in the used iPhone's product description. Yet, so many used iPhone buyers are not fully aware of what they are getting into when they place their order. It is very important to remember that images can be deceiving, that all pictures are not necessarily an exact image of the item being sold, and that the finer details are supplied via product descriptions. If the description one gets about a used iPhone is terse or short, then it is time to ask the seller questions before buying.

Tip #9: Look For Signals that Suggest Poor Quality

When a used iPhone seller states in an iPhone description that the item is in good condition, but then later tells the potential buyer that the used iPhone is for sale in its present condition, "as is," this is a seller's secret code for "the buyer gets the used iPhone, warts and all, with no returns or guarantees." This means that the seller probably suspects or fully knows that there is an issue with the phone in question, or the seller suspects that something will go wrong with the phone in the near future. Rather than dealing with returns, guarantees, exchanges and refunds, the seller uses the terms "as is" to protect him or herself. Thus, when seeing a used iPhone for sale as is, it is better to seek out a different offer.

Tip #10: Be an Informed Consumer

Getting a used iPhone can be less of a hassle if the consumer informs him or herself about shipping costs, shipping time frames, applicable tax, and any additional fees that might be associated with the used iPhone purchase. The more a consumer knows about the seller, the iPhone, the seller's policies, the used iPhone features, compatible carriers, and what to expect, the better the overall buying experience will be.

How To Put Limewire Music, Youtube & Google Video, or DVD Video to iPhone

By Hoo Yoo

1. Put music and videos from Limewire to iPhone

Limewire is a download tool I assume lot of us use. I often use it to download free music and videos and put them on my iPhone. If you don't have Limewire, you can download it from its official website.

Search and download songs from Limewire. You may get songs in all sorts of formats, but not all formats are supported by iPhone. Usually I select three formats: MP3, AAC and M4A formats that are supported by iPhone and can be directly transferred to iPhone using iTunes. You can visit the official website of Apple for the detailed specs info for iPhone. After you download the songs, open your iTunes, click "File" from the upper left corner, select "Add file to library", browse your computer hard drive and find the songs downloaded by Limewire, select the songs you prefer, click OK and the songs will be put in your iTunes. Then you can just transfer the songs to your iPhone from iTunes.

2. Youtube video to iPhone

I often visit Youtube to watch videos on iPhone and sometimes I download videos which cannot be found on iPhone from Youtube to put on my iPhone. Youtube videos are in FLV formats, so I use a free online FLV converter to do the conversion.

Firstly, go to Youtube and open the page of the video you want to put on your iPhone. And you will find the Youtube URL of this video to the right of the playback window. Then copy this URL.

Secondly, go to vixy.net , paste the copied URL into the URL field of this web page, and select "MP4 for iPod/PSP" from the "Converts to" drop-down list. (iPod Video could also be used on iPhone. This will save you a lot effort if you have many iPod videos.) Then click "Start" below this list to start the conversion.

Finally, after the conversion, this website will provide a download link for you to download the converted MP4 file. When you see the link, you can just download the final file from the link, save the downloaded MP4 file on your computer and use iTunes to sync it on to your iPhone.
Here you can get a free resource website list which has free stream video you can download for free.

3. Google Videos on iPhone

Because Google allows you to download (most) videos from their site in an iPhone compatible format, all you need to do is download that version of the video. To do this, pull up Google Video and search for a video as you normally would. When you actually get to the video, you're not going to see much. To play the video, click the little select list on the right and select "Video iPod/Sony PSP" and press "Done". Press download and the video will come up shortly. Simple, right?

4. DVD/Video to iPhone

I have a huge collection of DVD movies and video files. And I always put a few movies on my iPhone to kill time while I'm on the subway/bus.

DVD movies cannot be transferred to iPhone via iTunes directly, so I had to find a converter to do that. I have used a few converters and the one I am using now is Wondershare DVD to iPhone Converter. It is not free, but not expensive either. I decided to spend the money coz it does a good job on the final quality and conversion speed. And if I don't want to put a whole movie, I can just convert part of a movie onto my iPhone with this app. My OS is Windows, so I use the Windows version. If you are using a Mac OS, I have noticed that they have a Mac DVD to iPhone converter that you can try, which I don't know if is as good because I don't have Mac OS.

Most of my video files are not MP4 formats that can be directly used on iPhone, so I also bought the iPhone Video Converter from the same company coz I thought it would also be nice app, and it turned out to be so great! Actually, this video converter and the DVD converter are pretty much the same as far as the functions and the operational steps are concerned, and the only difference to me is that one is to convert DVDs and the other is to convert video files. Meanwhile, these programs are all able to work for iPod and Apple TV; this will save you some bulks if you happen to have an iPhone or an Apple TV. If you also want a video to iPhone converter, you can just download a trial version to see if it is what you need. Unfortunately, they don't have a Mac version for video converters.

5. Sync music and videos to iPhone

So far, using iTunes to sync files to iPhone is the only choice we can make. I use iTunes too but I have found it a bit clunky. So let me show how to sync music and videos.

Select the audio/video files you want to sync from your iTunes library, drag them under "PLAYLISTS", and a new playlist will be created with all the selected files in it. Then you can click the Music menu tab, check the "Selected playlists" option, and select the newly created playlist to sync.

If you want to remove the files, just uncheck the box and you will find the way.

The above is my experience with converting and transferring files from various sources to my iPhone, and I hope it can shed some light.

Blackberry 8120 Pearl Titanium Vs.

Blackberry 8120 Pearl Titanium

Blackberry are a renowned manufacturer of mobile smartphones and PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants), they incorporate a completely different keypad layout to conventional mobile phones with full qwerty facilities and different number and letter button combinations for easy text input when writing emails and text messages.

The unusual keypad layout does take some time to master and feel comfortable with is the user has been using normal phones for some time but Blackberry users swear by it and find it extremely hard to convert back to the conventional button array.

RIM's sleek-looking BlackBerry Pearl has been given a makeover, re-emerging as the much improved BlackBerry Pearl 8120.

The BlackBerry Pearl was a big hit when it came out towards the end of 2006. Building on the buzz around smartphones that maker RIM had built up with its solid email access devices, the consumer-focused Pearl fulfilled many tech fans expectations. Some people were disappointed at the mere nod to cameraphones with just a 1.3Mp sensor but, in general, the delighted Pearl most who encountered it.

Out with the old and in with the new, the Blackberry Pearl 8120 has got the rumour mill turning and ears to the ground. Could this device be the all singing all dancing upgrade of the Blackberry Pearl 8100 that we've been waiting for, its certainly looks that way!

Blackberry Pearl 8100

Not just improved with WiFi capabilites, the Blackberry Pearl 8120 will also be available in a range of colours to choose from. Equipped with a 2 mega pixel camera with 5x digital zoom and built-in flash and video capture with a choice of two resolutions, the Blackberry Pearl 8120 successfully combines business communication functions with multimedia features, providing a complete solution.

A Quad Band GSM device with GPRS and EDGE Technology, the Blackberry Pearl 8120 Smartphone includes Advanced Phone features such as Speaker Independant Voice Recognition and Voice Activated Dialing plus Bluetooth Wireless v2.0 with A2DP Stereo support.

Boasting a Qwerty keyboard with SureType software, Organiser, Media Player, Document Viewer, Blackberry Email Client, Web Browser, USB Connectivity and 64MB of expandable memory, its surprising just how much RIM have managed to fit into this compact smartphone, weighing just 91 grams and measuring 107 x 55 x 14 mm.

RIM have even managed to squeeze in an enhanced audio feature which filters out background noise interruptions to improve the phones audio quality when making calls, allowing users to give their undivided attention to the person on the other end.

For larger corporate and government organizations, the BlackBerry Pearl smartphone works with BlackBerry Enterprise Server to provide users and IT managers with advanced security and easier access to corporate information.

Unlike traditional mobile phones, the BlackBerry Pearl smartphone can be centrally managed and supported by IT departments using BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Wireless push delivery of email and data, remote address book look-up and single mailbox integration are just a few of the features available.

The new Blackberry Pearl 8120 Titanium edition is a definite improvement on the older 8100 series and shows the manufacturers commitment to enhance their smartphone offerings to accommodate todays demanding business and personal users.

How to Change a Broken BlackBerry Screen

BlackBerry 8330 Curve

I did a big search all over trying to find how to change a BlackBerry screen without ruining the BlackBerry device itself. Yes, my BlackBerry 8330 fell from my desk, hit the wheel of my chair and cracked the screen! Nothing like a "CrackedBerry!" I was ticked... Anyhow...I couldn't find any good instructions, so I thought I'd post what I found to work because...I figured out how to fix it without one single scratch on the outside of my BlackBerry. Yea! But don't blame me if you scratch yours...I take no responsibility for it. Just take your time when you do it.:) If you dropped your BlackBerry and cracked the screen, do not worry, you can fix it. A broken BlackBerry screen can be fixed by you! First of all, you need to find the BlackBerry screen which fits your device. I got mine from Cellular Nationwide Network. You can Google it. Make sure your BlackBerry model is used for the search on this site!

I ordered my parts on Thursday April, 22th and I received them on Wednesday April 28. Not bad, the parts even came from China too! I paid around $6 for the new BlackBerry screen and I purchased a cool blue trackball and blue chrome outside ring for around $5. Shipping and Handling was a flat $5. So for $17, that was perfect for me. When I received the shipment, the parts were safe in a small thick box which was protected by an envelope with bubble wrap. All the contents were safe inside the box and arrived as ordered. I was stoked about how quickly the order came! The screen had the protecting tape on both sides so it was in perfect condition, plus the double sided tape which exactly fit the outside of the screen to secure down the new BlackBerry screen was included! I couldn't believe it, the screen even had the BlackBerry logo on it! SWEET!
OK, here is the "How to change a broken BlackBerry screen" instructions. Hardware and necessary items:

1. Small flathead screwdriver - the really small ones. The one I used was about 1/16" wide, but long enough to fit in your hand comfortably.2. A sharp Xacto knife that has a pointed end.
3. A 3" x 3" piece of paper cut in 5 equal pieces and each folded in half.
4. The double sided adhesive tape which comes with the new BlackBerry screen. Be careful with this because you'll need to remove all the pre-cut holes and the sides are very thin...you don't want to tear it.
5. Can of AIR. You don't want any dust inside before putting on the new screen.
6. A very soft cotton cloth (NO PAPER PRODUCT! It'll scratch it!) which will not scratch the surface of the BlackBerry screen or the BlackBerry LCD screen. You'll use this to make sure there are no nasty fingerprints on the screen or accidentally on the LCD screen before putting on the new screen.
Ok, now you are ready to remove and replace the broken or cracked BlackBerry screen.

1. The trick to removing it without totally screwing up the nice edges around the screen is by breaking off the silver piece at the top of the screen. Use the screwdriver against the bad screen to very carefully break off the silver piece. I stuck the screwdriver in the ear slot about 1/2 millimeter and twisted and broke the silver piece off.

2. Get the folded piece of paper. That is going to protect your outside edges of your BlackBerry when using the screwdriver to pry up the screen.
a. I edged the folded piece of paper under the screen where the silver piece was and used the tip of the screwdriver to pry up the edge of the screen by twisting the screwdriver. Don't push down on the screwdriver to lift the screen, it'll ruin your BlackBerry's edges next to the screen.
b. Then I slid the piece of paper over to either side which was giving away the easiest along with the screwdriver and twisted again. I followed that pattern carefully until the top was loosened from the stickiness from the manufacturer.
c. Then work down the sides...you can use other pieces of paper to hold up the screen so the work you have done doesn't have to be redone again. By the time you get the sides loosened the area around the keys and trackball will not have to be touched...it should lift right up. At this point, your screen should be off!'

3. It's time to make sure the new BlackBerry screen fits, so take off the clear plastic protectors from each side of the new screen and make sure there is no debris where the new screen will go. Shoot it with some air - Don't blow on it, you'll probably spit on the LCD screen. Some of you will do that. Oh, well, your choice.

4. Once you know it fits, it's time to put the double sided tape onto the BlackBerry first...Do NOT put the tape on the BlackBerry screen. This is tedious to make sure it is placed correctly with all the cut-outs are properly in-line with the unit and the tape is not on the LCD screen. Once it is down, it's not secure, you can move it slightly and once it's in the right place...use and Xacto knife or the edge of the screwdriver to make sure the tape is firmly pressed on the BlackBerry.

5. Now comes another the tricky part...Putting the BlackBerry Screen on.
a. Make sure the LCD and the BlackBerry are free of fingerprints and dust! Use good lighting and angle the pieces to see if there are any to be removed. If there are fingerprints, I used hot, moist air by opening my mouth and breathing on it, then using the soft cloth to remove it. Then I used the Air to blow off any dust particles. Recheck the BlackBerry screen and recheck the LCD when completed. Fingerprint and Dust Free.
b. If it's "Good-to-Go" then remove the adhesive covering on the double sided tape which is already in place. This was difficult for me...I had to use the Xacto knife to lift off the adhesive covering. The tape is very thin, so you'll need to make sure and get all the paper. It'll come off and you'll be left with seeing the clear adhesive to place the screen onto.
c. Now carefully place the BlackBerry Screen onto the adhesive. I started on the left side by lining up the screen with the edge of the unit, eye-ing where the screen sits near the keys and top of the BlackBerry. All the while, being careful to not to get fingerprints under the screen.

6. Well, you should've successfully completed changing your broken BlackBerry Screen with scratching up or ruining your phone and it should be as good as new!

Finish !!!!

Blackberry Bold Vs iPhone 3GS Review

Blackberry Bold

Gadget Review: Blackberry Bold vs iPhone 3GS. Blackberry or iPhone? That is the question I hear every day from any person looking to obtain one of the cool gadgets. Well my friends, this review will most certainly shed some light on both phones, and hopefully you will be able to draw some conclusions at the end.

As you know from my previous post: Gadget Review: iPhone 3GS, I am quite the happy iPhone owner. I do not own a Blackberry Bold, but a lot of my friends are in possession of the competitive Research In Motion (RIM) gadget. I have played around with it several times, and I believe I have established a fairly good "rapport" with the Blackberry.

The Blackberry Bold has a very sleek design, unlike its predecessors. I fancied the look of the gadget very much. The QWERTY keyboard was always easy to use, as the buttons are very well designed for data entry on this neat gadget. Now, one of the bigger features on the Blackberry Bold is the screen. The gadget
features a half VGA resolution 480 x 320 pixel color display. The quality of the picture is extremely crisp, and I would be very satisfied to watch the latest episode of Two and a Half Men. The email on the Bold is superb. I do not think there is any real competition for that particular aspect of the Blackberry, as it is the main feature that RIM strives to improve on with every new gadget release. And of course there is the Blackberry Messenger. Loved by many and desired by others. This Blackberry service is free, and it features on every Blackberry released. This cool digital gadget reduces your bill greatly on text messaging. Now of course, this is only available to Blackberry phones, hence making it such a unique feature for the RIM device.

Now for the review of the cons....yes there are always cons! The Blackberry Bold is fairly big in size. Its bulky size does not allow for seamless blending into your pocket. If RIM manages to reduce the size of Blackberry Bold to one of that the Pearl sports, I think the customer base for the gadget would increase dramatically. The Blackberry Bold browser, while an improvement, is still ways away from a user friendly interface. Navigation is done with the trackball that is located in the middle of the gadget, and the constant scrolling to navigate through the pages can become fairly annoying and tiring. I hope RIM thinks of something for the future Blackberry phones. The screen, while crisp is only a half size. But that is the trade off with most non-touch screen gadgets. Finally, the camera leaves desirable improvement. Blackberry Bold does in fact come with a flash, and the camera is a 3.2 megapixel camera, but the Sony Ericsson CyberShot dwarfs the Blackberry gadget in comparison, however we will leave the Sony Ericsson gadget for another review.

The comparison of the Blackberry Bold to the iPhone 3GS is a fairly daunting task (unlike my previous comparison of the iPhone and the Nokia N-95), as in my opinion both gadgets are intended for different target markets and meant for slightly different purposes. However, let us attempt to compare and contrast the two gadgets.

The screen comparison is fairly simple: you get a bigger screen with the iPhone, but the quality is better on the Blackberry Bold. Now, do note that the screen on the iPhone is the glue that holds everything together. While it is big, it is also almost like putting all your eggs in one basket - lest the screen crack, the gadget performance might suffer. Such is the double-edged sword nature of the touch screen phones!

If you prefer real tangible buttons for data entry such as on the Blackberry Bold, as opposed to digitized keyboards on the iPhone, the choice is fairly obvious; this one is really down to user preference. I personally happen to love the iPhone keyboard, but I do not have a problem with the Blackberry one either; it is simply that I prefer a bigger screen, and the iPhone keyboard makes it a very efficient gadget.

The camera. To be quite honest, this comparison of the two gadgets in the picture-taking aspect can be described as a Special Olympics race. Now, I have nothing against the handicapped population of our world, and apologies if you found it offensive, but to simply put it, the two cameras of the iPhone and the Blackberry Bold are simply not on par with what is out there. Blackberry trumps the iPhone by 1.2 megapixels and a flash, however it is not really something I would be particularly proud to show off to all my friends. Moving on.

Email. Absolutely no competition. Blackberry phones were designed for email. iPhone does have a decent and simple email client, but it does not even come close to the RIM gadget.

Blackberry messenger is something I would love to have on my iPhone. I am a huge admirer of the iPhone text messaging system, but if I could also send texts for free, well let's just say that even Gollum from Lord of the Rings would overlook his Precious for a feature like that!

Browser. Once again, no contest, but this one goes to the iPhone. Easy to use, big screen, fast Safari browser. Once you have used the iPhone browser, I would dare anyone to find a gadget that aces the Apple phone. Blackberry Bold is blown out of the water, country, planet and solar system in this department.

Finally the size of the two gadgets is very comparable. Personally, I find the slim form factor of the iPhone extremely convenient, however it does make it more fragile. Don't forget it's in your back pocket, or you will end up having a nice spider-web design on the screen of your precious gadget. The Blackberry Bold, as mentioned earlier is fairly bulky, but it does make it much sturdier than the iPhone. I give this to the iPhone, but as with most aforementioned comparisons, this one is once again user preference.

The verdict....well there simply is no winner in this battle. Many of the comparisons of the two gadgets were ultimately down to user preference. You have to ask yourself: what am I going to use my phone for? If it is for email and organizational purposes, then I recommend the Blackberry Bold. If it is for fun and browsing, I recommend the iPhone. The choice is yours. Both gadgets are very capable of performing every task, but their design and approach to these tasks is significantly different, and you are the one to make the call - Blackberry Bold or iPhone.

I hope you found this gadget review useful, and I welcome comments or discussions on the Blackberry Bold or the iPhone. Both gadgets are fantastic pieces of technology, however, as this review outlines, the ultimate target audience is different.

While you will certainly want to keep the notion of getting a good price when shopping for a refurbished iPhone in the back of your mind as you shop, do not assume that a great price is the only thing you need to consider. Extraordinary prices are certainly enticing when a consumer is checking out all of the options available, but all-time low prices are not necessarily an indication of quality in every instance. Other things in addition to the price factor need to be considered like the condition of the iPhone, whether or not there is any visible damage on the iPhone, whether or not the Phone is blacklisted, and whether or not the seller providing the refurbished iPhone has a reasonable return policy.

Checking the Condition of the Refurbished iPhone

The best way to ensure one is getting a iPhone in good condition is identified in the act of thoroughly examining the phone for any signs of damage and wear or to ask the seller to describe and examine the exterior of the iPhone for scratches, gouges, or clearly identifiable areas of damage. Once the exterior of the refurbished iPhone has been thoroughly assessed, the consumer will want to check out whether or not the iPhone has been damaged through water exposure.

It doesn't matter what type of iPhone a consumer is thinking about buying: a 4gb refurbished iPhone, an 8gb refurbished iPhone or a 16gb iPhone all have built in moisture detectors which will immediately reveal if the phone is water damaged. Of course, you can always question the seller and ask if the item has had water damage in the past, but it is far safer to look into whether or not the refurbished iPhone has been damaged by water physically. Checking for water damage is simple; when looking to buy a refurbished iPhone, you can gently lift the battery out of the iPhone to see if there is a tiny, white colored dot beneath the area where the battery is placed. When checking beneath the refurbished iPhone for the moisture indicator, if the consumer discovers a small, red colored dot or no dot at all, this is a clear indication that something is amiss and that the iPhone has been exposed to moisture.

Ensuring the Refurbished iPhones are Not Blacklisted

When a consumer is shopping for an Apple iPhone 4gb, 8gb, or 16gb, if the iPhone has been locked or blacklisted, it really does not matter whether the phone lacks any water damage or any exterior damage. When a refurbished iPhone is blacklisted, it will fail to work completely. An electronic serial number, otherwise referred to as an ESN, that is in the clear is needed too, or, once again the iPhone will not work. Stolen iPhones are blacklisted and cannot be activated.

If an iPhone is considered locked, this limits the carrier that the buyer of the refurbished iPhone can work with. It is important when one buys a refurbished iPhone that he or she is fully aware if it has a locked status. A locked AT&T iPhone will not work with T-Mobile, even though it is on the GSM network.

Seek Out a Reasonable Return Policy

If you are shopping for a refurbished iPhone, look for a dealer or distributor that supplies a return policy. This is vital whether you are buying a refurbished iPhone in person from a dealer and especially if you are ordering an iPhone from an online seller. Once the item is received, it should be examined, assessed for damage, and tested. It is imperative that the consumer ensure that he or she understands all of the regulations presented in a refurbished iPhone seller's return policy

Apple iPhone Parts

   By Tom Lasky
If like many iPhone users, you've discovered that malfunctioning Apple iPhone parts can be a real chore. The decision whether to send an iPhone off to an authorized service center, or simply buy a new one, can put the wallet somewhere between a rock and a hard place. Even if it is cheaper to repair, it might not make any sense to continue with a semi-damaged phone in lieu of a new one for the price. Instead of getting down, it's best to get an idea of what some of the other options are. By finding other users selling broken or damaged iPhones, or even just Apple iPhone parts, it can be easier than you think to fix a broken iPhone- and certainly more economical. Today, Apple iPhone parts are available for low prices, for both the 1st Generation iPhone and the new iPhone 3G model. The same applies to iPods, and other pesky electronic devices. With fairly simple replacement procedures, the average iPhone user should consider a parts replacement before plunking down last month's paycheck for a new product.

Some of the most common problems to face iPhone users are that the LCD screen is of poor condition, rendering the iPhone unusable, that the iPhone has become water damaged, that the battery will not charge or hold charge, that the iPhone has a broken or cracked screen, and that the iPhone won't power on. Instead of tossing the phone out, especially for broken or cracked screens or faulty batteries, make an easy and cheap replacement with used or wholesale Apple iPhone parts. Maybe a repair is covered by a warranty, or maybe not. Regardless, keep all your options open when it comes to electronics repairs. With easy online how-to
tutorials and extremely affordable replacement Apple iPhone parts, there's never any need to panic when accidents happen. A phone wouldn't be practical if we could never take it anywhere with us. Our lives demand going to work, the gym, socializing, sporting events, conferences, on business trips and much, much, more. Even with the somewhat fragile nature of the iPhone, there's no need to fear knowing it is possible to get Apple iPhone parts without breaking the bank.

On the other end of the issue? Have a broken iPhone that you just can't seem to get rid of? Why not try selling it for parts. Apple iPhone parts are increasingly in demand, and it could be a great way to get a little cash advanced on your next technological purchase, whether it be an iPhone or not. If not up to the challenge of disarming an old iPhone, try using a company or service that buys old, used, broken and damaged electronic goods. Most of these companies can be found online, will surely buy used Apple iPhone parts, and will trade you for cash. With little to no effort it is entirely possible for some good to come out of an iPhone that has been the best thing you've ever owned or the bane of your existence- but for whatever reason has ceased to function.

Whatever you decide to do with an used, old, broken or damaged iPhone, get online to research how people everywhere are benefitting from buying and selling Apple iPhone parts today!
