and now this: the ‘Small Sports EV Concept’

Honda has not one but two new sports cars up its sleeve, and here's the first: official sketches of The Small Sports Car EV Concept. And when they say small, they mean small. Very small.

(The second is a rumoured "new NSX", set to debut at the Detroit motorshow in January and the Avengers movie in May. Back to that in a minute, but you can see it below)

So, the small one pictured above. Honda says this little concept will preview a new sports car, so it is for real. But it's a little harder to work out exactly what it is.

One of the vehicles to catch our attention at the 2011 SEMA Auto Show was the one-off Supercharged ZR-59, a tuning project mixing the classic 1959 Corvette with design elements and technology from the current Corvette ZR1. The project - spearheaded by Cal West Customs and Palmers Customs - was developed to give a classic sports car the feel and rumble of a modern day supercar.

The Chevrolet Supercharged ZR-59 took over a year to be created. It started as a chassis with a stock corvette body and then Art Morrison provided a custom chassis for the project which was then covered with a hand-built metal and fiber glass body. The body includes hand-built side and fender moldings shaped from brass and a custom built stainless gas tank. A set of Nutek three-piece forged aluminum rims complete the exterior look. The interior gets a hand-fabricated dash, center console, and gauge cluster. It took tons of planning and concept, but the final product is the slick sports car in these images.

The engine is also a masterpiece with the two developers opting for a Corvette ZR1 LS9 V8 engine producing a total of 750 HP. This engine was combined with a Tremec T56 six-speed transmission, a Corvette C6 front suspension, air ride shockwaves with auto-levelers, and Wilwood 6 piston front and rear brakes. A push button ignition system was also put in for added convenience.

Porsche supercar ready to take on Ferrari 458 Italia, to be unveiled at LA Motor Show

Earlier this week, Porsche had revealed that they are on the verge of unveiling their all new 911 Carrera and a new super car. Both these cars will be unveiled by Porsche at the LA Motor Show next week. Porsche plans on launching their new supercar priced above the 911 model but below the 918 supercar. This new Porsche supercar will be manufactured at their plant in Germany and will carry a price tag of approximately between €250,000 and €400,000.

The architecture of the new Porsche supercar is based on the same architecture on which the Auti R8 prototype e-tron is built.Audi displayed R8 e-tron prototype at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year. Rumor has it that VW will use the same architecture to build the next Lambo Gallardo variant.

On the engine front, it is still not clear whether Porsche will install their own engine or borrow R8's next gen engine. If Porsche borrows Audi R8's 4.0L V8 engine, which has a maximum output capacity of 520 PS and 650 Nm torque, they will surely be uptuning the engine to generate more power and torque.

Jaguar's XKR-S hero car

will make its debut in convertible form at next week's Los Angeles Auto Show, the British carmaker has confirmed.
Images for the topless supersports haven't been released, but if you can picture the XKR Convertible with the XKR-S' wild body tweaks, you're halfway there.
Power for the XKR-S Convertible will be provided by the same 410kW and 680Nm supercharged 5.0 litre V8 that motivates the Coupe, and its 0-100km/h time should be very close to the hardtop's 4.4 seconds.
Expect the same Adaptive Dynamics handling system, lightweight alloy wheels and aerodynamics tweaks.

In between the Mille Miglia Tribute and SEMA we had an opportunity to visit the 25th annual Santa Barbara Concours in California. It was run by the Stratus Media Group for the first time and held in conjunction with the Mille Miglia Tribute.

The show's main draw was Peter Mullin's Figoni & Falaschi Delahaye and its sibling Bugatti which was made by Van Vooren as a copy. Supposedly, this show was the second time both cars were photographed together.

The new model called 250 Europa was offered in two versions of the model: the first 20 units were simply called 250 Europe, while the other 44 were being called 250 GT Europa. The difference between the two version was firstly made by the wheelbase: 2800mm for Europa and 2600mm for Europa GT; and secondly by the engine: first one was using a 3-liter Lampredi V12 engine and the second one a 3-liter Colombo V12 engine.

The 1953 250 Export and Europa were the only of the family to use a different engine. They shared the 2953 cc Lampredi V12 designed for Formula One use.
The Export model was similar to the 250 MM with its 2,400 mm (94.5 in) wheelbase. One exception was its 220 PS (162 kW; 217 hp) Lampredi engine. It was launched at the Paris Motor Show of 1953.

The first America cars were the 340, produced between 1950 and 1952. Using the new Lampredi V12 developed for Formula One racing, the 340 America could produce over 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp). Only 23 copies were built: 11 by Vignale, eight by Touring, and four by Ghia.
The 340 America was replaced by its larger-engined brother, the 375 America.

Lauding the success of the 250 S at the Mille Miglia, Ferrari showed a more-conventional chassis for the new 250 engine at the 1952 Paris Motor Show. Pinin Farina clothed this chassis, with the celebratory 250 MM coupe launched at the 1953 Geneva Motor Show. This car was almost plain by contemporary standards, but it possessed a certain purposefulness with its small grille and compact tail complete with a panoramic rear window. Carrozzeria Vignale's open barchetta also broke new styling ground, with recessed headlights and side vents becoming a staple of Ferrari design for the 1950s.

The first of the 250 line was the experimental 250 S berlinetta prototype entered in the 1952 Mille Miglia.
The company's newest product was entrusted to Giovanni Bracco and Alfonso Rolfo and was severely tested by the Mercedes-Benz 300SL racers run by Rudolf Caracciola, Hermann Lang, and Karl Kling.
The little 230 PS (169 kW; 227 hp) Ferrari was outgunned in the long straights but fought back in the hills and curves and Bracco emerged victorious at the end. This same car was later entered at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Carrera Panamericana.
