 Some people prefer to watch the sun sets. There is something soothing in seeing something beautiful descends into the horizon. It is as if the brevity of time somehow allows a brief respite from the restless world.

I have witnessed the sun setting numerous times. It is indeed a calming antidote for the jumbled mess that routinely surfaces in our lives. A transient visitor who envelopes our being into a vortex of serene oblivion. As much as we fiercely pray that this heaven-sent reprieve won’t end, the natural course of life won’t allow it.

As the world starts to wake up from its slumber, life sluggishly emerges from its cocoon. Light gradually penetrates every crevice it can find. Darkness may rule the night, but our existence highly depends on the awakening of a new day. With its return to its graceful perch on the sky, sunrise beckons its domain towards a fresh beginning. Sunrise brings with itself a sense of hope that another chance awaits us. It inspires us to leave our grief and wrath behind and to start anew. Somber conversations and profound thoughts may occur in the silent evenings, but the mighty spirits roam the roads when light illuminates the Earth.

I am still learning my DSLR Canon Rebel. I have taken pictures numerous times, and have deleted most of them out of sheer frustration. I cannot seem to capture a good angle, making the shot appear drab. I hope my Chimpsy class next week ( I can’t wait!) will somehow help me aquire the skills to take amazing photos.

Here are some of the pictures that have managed to elude my camera’s thrash bin:

1. Breaking Dawn DVD 2. Quiet night 3. Globe I bought from T.J. Maxx 4. Watching Being Human on Netflix 5-6. Blueberry Zucchini Bread I baked 6. Gorgeous Mitchell (again).

I’m off from work tomorrow, but I’ll be busy with other stuffs. My weekend is almost over, and I can’t say I have done anything productive. So, tomorrow will be a hectic day for me. Procrastination is the bane of my existence.

 I love words as well as pictures. To make a photo leap out of its stillness from a page, and capture its viewer is amazing. Beauty comes in many forms and sadly, it inevitably fades. Photography enables that beauty to be preserved, so it continues to bring forth various states of emotion. As the essence of life ebbs and flows, it is comforting to know that it is capable of leaving corporeal pieces of memorabilia for others left behind. A silent reminder that no matter how long we are far gone, a trace of us is still here.

Frozen in time.

*I’m still learning my way around my DSLR, reading the manuals and looking up photography sites online. I’ve also registered for my first photography class at Chimpsy. I’m so excited to explore the possibilities of having an awesome Canon camera, as well as learning how to take beautiful pictures! Let me share a few that I’ve taken so far. They’re far from perfect, but hey, I’m still a novice!

2012.

Where did the time go? It seems as if it was only yesterday we were celebrating 2000. And suddenly, 12 years have passed. Time can be sneaky like that.

When we are living at the current moment, we have the tendency to get absorbed into the  revolving doors of one event after another. Small things discreetly creep in and manage to entwine themselves with our ever evolving lives. On the other hand, monumental occasions also permeate our existence, leading to startling discoveries and changes.

Be those shifts are toward the good or the bad, there is the incontrovertible realization that time adheres to its steadfast metamorphosis. And with that transformation, it changes us as well. Instead of being sucked into the vacuum of obstinate transitions, we should take advantage of them. Remaining incompetent against the constant blur of shifts is just  a waste of energy. And considerably, a loss of valuable time.

May 2012 be filled with blessings and the realization of dormant dreams. May this new year entwine itself into our lives bearing more wonderful news and successful endeavors.

Cyanide and Happiness

Granted, the holiday season can be hectic, expensive, or just plain rabid. But I hope everyone is taking the time to enjoy the feeling of love and happiness in the air. Better yet, spend some opportunities to share your blessings with others. Volunteer at the homeless shelter, choose a random paper from your local store’s Christmas tree and buy a child the toy on his/her wish list, drop a few dollar bills into the panhandler’s cup, or instead of donating used clothes to Goodwill, give them to organizations that provide for low-income families.

There are various ways to make someone feel the joy of the holidays like you do. It does not have to cost you any money. After all, the best gift is the one that comes from the heart.
