The Replacement: First Wave

Ever since I build my PC last 2 weeks, I was still left with an unsatisfied feeling. Something had to be done. Its time for some Replacement!

So I immediately begin my journey. My whole Saturday saw me wondering from place to place in search for good (not forget to mention, cheap) ingredients. It's freaking exhausting and I crossed my finger hoping everything won't fall into the drain.

But first, meet my current PC setup. Based on ECS 6100PM V2 motherboard and powered by AM2+ Sempron 1150LE, its far from being a beast I dreamt of.

Now meet the Replacement.

From left – 80mm & 120mm CoolerMaster case fan, CoolerMaster thermal paste, Asus EAH3650 512MB DDR2 and last but not least, AMD X2 5200+ 2.7Ghz

.. and the Galactic Pounder.

It is not recommended to assemble your PC while eating. Please, don't try this at home.

It took me 30 minutes to de-assemble and assemble everything and thank god, I'm not greeted by motherboard's error beeps. So how does it fare?

The Processor

For a mere RM90+, I am able to double my PC performance. Looking at the chart, each test shows that my new CPU achieves more than 200% gain on average. Not bad I said to myself. Huge decrease in video encoding time will ensure smooth movie viewing hereafter.

The Graphic Card

This is the catalyst of my first Replacement. It's a monster compared to my puny on-board graphic chipset. Just look at how much difference it made to my PC graphic related function. RM180 will never felt this well-spent. I haven't had time to test on real game yet but this should be sufficed for the time being.

The Conclusion

This is over awesome. Result on graphic card might be misleading for my onboard graphic chip is nothing to yell about. All in all, I felt good. I can't wait for next weekend when I will have time to tinker all its bell and whistle. If only we didn't have to work XD

My New Secret .. Technically

Well, the time has come again. It's the time when I feel bored stiff about things around me. I need to change something.

Job? Nah, too risky.

Girlfriend? Shh.

Car? I don't even have one!

After cycling around list of things that I own, which is not much by the way, I set my sight on my lovely Sony Ericsson K800i. NO! I can't possibly dump her, screamed my heart. She's been very good to me over this year.

On a faithful middle of June, I finally made my decision to let her go. It's a hard decision. Really.

May she live happily with her new proprietor.

I had to get on with my life. I need a replacement. I need someone as sexy as her but more technically advance. I need something I can use to get over her. Fortunately, I have found one.

Meet Secret. Known by the techie as LG KF750, it's a phone designed to be sexy. It even defines sexy.

Semi touch-screen, 5MP camera, VGA video recording, 3G enabled. She is everything that K800i tried to be but I can't seem to love her. There's something holding me back from loving her.

Ahh, maybe I have mistaken crush with love.

PC Fair brought drought

I'm getting pissed off by Maxis right after the launching of PC Fair @ KLCC. Why? Well, there are several reasons which is sucky connection, damn slow connection, unstable connection and did I mention, sucky connection. Someone doesn't have to understand how atomic particle works to sum up what is actually happen on and after PC Fair 2008.

You see, Maxis is a company with this type of motto; "We Didn't Care". Yup, they simply don't. Instead of retaining loyal customers support (broadband wise) by improving their connection, they simply ignored us and continue digging for new customers. We (subscribers) have been fighting for reception all this while and now they are adding new people to this struggle. Do we see new communication tower constructed recently? None, damn it.

With Maxis broadband; port-forwarding was prohibited, torrenting is impossible and connection was plain suck. I don't really care about the first 2 characteristic but its the later that concerned me a lot.

My recent connection was like sitting in car driven on mount rocky with no absorber system what-so-ever. Yeah, bumpy ride that is. Who would've not be annoyed when they need to refresh their browser every 5 seconds just because the latency took like ... forever.

Please, for those who were thinking about getting Maxis for torrenting or online gaming, just ditch the idea. Do us (casual surfer) a favor by not subscribing to Maxis broadband.

Maxis : Love to Hate, Hate to Love

As I was considered working right now (even if I am only a trainee), I have to let go one of my life-long hobby that is computer games. Not for long though, just for awhile until I have a real job. Contemplating this situation, I realized that I need an internet line before I got sucked into a realm called boredom. And I need it quickly.

I started my journey to dig and entrench myself into the world of ISP. Hrm, I heard about StreamyX long before and I guess, this is where I should be heading. But no, unfortunately, the stumbling block appeared as I found out that my new place doesn’t have fixed line installed. RM500+/- for installation, according to one of StreamyX agent was enough to stray me away from Telekom.

Then I realized that my only choice is wireless internet line. My first thought is, well, I’m doom. I remembered back then when I read an advertisement about Celcom wireless broadband and its cost more than RM2000. Sighed.

Towards the end of my boredom, I stumbled upon something called Maxis broadband. Is it good? Well, seeing this advert:

I could only think reasons why I should subscribe for it.

Now, I am one happy Maxis customer with a lot of complaints. Seriously, on the darker side, I was hoping our government to force Maxis being more sincere with their broadband service. They block and block ports like I’m paying for surfing only. While on the other side, I’m glad there is Maxis broadband to stick with as it was the most affordable (considering I’m getting a RM500 allowance per month) wireless broadband around. Maybe after getting a more appropriate pay, I won’t be so happy anymore.

Blogging thru Word 2007

Well, I always had this idea that Blogger's internal editor was not sufficed to my needs. I need a rich editor with the ability to let me blog while offline. I never thought that Office's Word 2007 has this feature all along. Remembering all that time I wasted, I sighed.

First, I added list of blogs I'm currently updating. Word 2007 handled the job of logging in into my blogger account surprisingly fast. I'm impressed and now I need to type something to post up into the blog. Bear in mind that no testing is done. I wanted to show and in the mean time see, how well posting using Word 2007 will be.

Hm, seems the text part is finished. Now lets me add some picture.

And now, the moment of truth whether I can compliment Microsoft for such beautiful creation (software) or not. I’m going to press the PUBLISH button right now…

EURO 2008: Turk’s resurrection

It has been a while since I last saw international football match that thrilled me out like today’s morning match. Czech Republic was the favorite while Turkey step in the stadium as slight underdog, resembling past prediction put on them in World Cup 2002. I was a neutral this time compared to the time when I was having faith in Rustu, Sukur and Tugay.

The match itself opened with a positive attitude. Ball is being passed forward rather than Greek-styled sideways. I enjoyed every moment up until Koller headed home an unstoppable shot passed Volcan. Lamented for awhile as my wish to see the Turks in the next round seems to be inevitably lost.

It getting wearier every minute after the half-game mark as Czech added another goal thru their midfield player, Plasil. Surprisingly, Czech does not seem to care about their reputation as their players started to camp in their own half. I yawned.

Few minutes pass by and Turks suddenly added a goal. Czech players were becoming more negative when all ten of them sat close to their penalty area. I yawned again but constantly kept awake by Turkey’s attacking flow. One decisive moment arrived. Nihat took an easy chance as Czech’s Cech miss predict a cross and parry it backward. Turks celebrate and before time were able to sweep their smile away, Nihat added a remarkable goal, one goal that thrust Turkey into the last 16 and might as well be the contender for tournament’s best goal.

I relived past moment when I was cheering for Turkey. It seems that I had another chance to do that again after all.

My Little Absence

It is hard to describe my past six months. These period are filled with both enjoyment and disappointment. One morning I was playing Assassin's Creed and the next morning I find myself struggling to finish up final project's assignment or saving up a relationship. This loops drive me nuts sometime, but luckily, not to an extreme extend.

Now, I'm kinda free from all those things. All those pitiful studying to pass college's examination is gone. I'm free!! But of course, there is always a catch. 12 hours of my day is considered gone with me not being a student anymore. A catch that had eaten a lot of my free hours.

There's a bright side of this though. I had my own internet connection to play with and I don't have to worry about exam's preparation anymore. There is a little problem financially but I think I will managed to cope with this in the coming months.

Sadly enough, I must say goodbye to my gaming hobby, at least for a while.

Re-Setting Base on Internet

For the past few months, I have been busy with a lot of project (including those for my university greds) mostly related to the Internet. It is hard as I have to make sure that my focus is divided equally between each project on my schedule. Thankfully, I am able to finished (not perfect but nearly) 2 of my personal project which is a website for my small service at my college and a blog on financial freedom.

CSS was the only stumbling block that holding me up time to time from finishing these 2 project. As a beginner in this area, I'm quite happy with the final result. These 2 project are far from over eventhough I said that I have finished them. I can see a lot more to-be-made improvement in many areas and I hope one of you could point out which should be left and which should be thrown away.

My Life Sicken

The feeling that everything is slipping away from me is so unbearable right now. I can’t help it nor can I ignore it. Time seems to pass way ahead of me, dragging me along with its pace. I woke up every morning, baffled, realizing that I’ve done nothing the whole day before.

It isn’t a long time before when I’m eager to wake up from my slumber knowing that I’ll do things that I love. Zealous it is, but now everything seems so wrong. I felt bad when I go to sleep, I felt guilty when I’m awake. No matter what I do, I feel like I’m being condemned by my own shadowy past.

I’m anticipating 2007 to be a great year, denying the fact that I have wasted 21 years of my life doing nothing. Month passes and I can’t bar the intuition that this year is going to be just the same. Filled with nothingness and embellished by guiltiness.

Almost all the time I felt fear roamed within me. Fear of what lies in my path. Fear of losing something precious in the process. Fear of my own future. I want things to stay like they were but the truth is, it is not going to be the same every tick the time passes.

I will let my past haunt me and contemn my own self for anything that goes wrong afterwards. Life goes on.

The Gem of the Galaxy

What is priced at RM 300, sexy and rocks poor people like me??! Mid-range 5.1 Surround Speaker? Nope (might be yes for some stupid folks). 8 bucket of KFC’s hot and spicy fried chickens? Tempting, but nope. Alter your bike engine so that it sounds like crap? Nawh!. So what is it really??

The answer is quite simple. It’s my new Galaxy 7300GT 1.4ns 128MB (128Bit) graphic card. What the hell is it?? Take a look at it, ZOMG!! Isn’t she beautiful??

It has 8 pixel pipelines, operates at 500/700(1400) Mhz and come with an excellent, sexy looking, heart pumping VF700 Zalman VGA Cooler. Uh, my hands are shaking while typing a blog about her.

The Second Absence

The 2nd Absence : Intro
This holiday is my fattest holiday ever. It’s all about me doing a continuing mass eating program for whole month I’m in my hometown. Ah, the feeling of fullness in my stomach is numbing my fingers.

The 2nd Absence : Exam Saga, Baffled Again
Hectic weeks mentioned in The 1st Absence, Old Book of Agtarsh is over but it brings out an excruciating consequence never ever felt by subjects of Abyss. After a thorny effort to make sure that the next result are better or same compared to the past, I was hit hard when I surfed into UXM scholar portal on 14th of December last year.

1.82 pointers, 25% decrement from the previous result, ‘Lulus Bersyarat’, and all the description that I could come out with, are nothing similar to all the cursing that has been dumped out by me. Is there a secret organization behind UXM that constantly sabotaging my exam paper so that I can’t graduate properly, is still remain a mystery, same like ‘Why girls like to wear baby shirt??’ which up until now aren’t solve yet.

Anyhow, I manage to put myself together up again. I look forward into my future (of course, I didn’t see anything) and I swear, there’s no matter how big that secret organization behind UXM is or how hard they try to stop me from graduating, I will fight to my last breath.

From the 1st drop of blood to the death of my soul, TO THE WAR!!

The 2nd Absence : Spilled Blood
One of the important lesson I had learned in this absence is how to reap the precious meat from a cow that has been Qurban-ed. Easy as it may seem, but when you are down there with a knife, you will starting to get the feeling that you know nothing about it.

As for me, I was lucky to have my Dad beside me. He is the most expert looking Qurban-er amongst the amateur and half-pro there. I acquired some of his knowledge just by examining carefully how he did his job. The cutting, slicing, and skinning are all done with care so that there was no meat spared.

But I can’t stop myself from talking about others. There are people (believe me, its annoying) who just sit there and moved when the meat and other parts are ready to be distribute. These people are Qurban-ers as well and even though religiously, they aren’t doing any sin, I still despise them for their laziness and their annoying selfishness.

The 2nd Absence : Blue Nightmarish Christmas
There is no word that could possibly describe my agonizing feeling as Chelsea picked up only 8 points from a handful 12 points. If the news of losing Cech and Cudicini for the rest of 2006 is not awful enough, add it with JT (Terry) absence because of unlikely injury.

The first week without main goalkeeper and captain isn’t going very well for the Blues. Last minute winner against Everton and Wigan by Drogba and Robben respectively, earned Chelsea their hard fought 6 points. Don’t tell me those two lower team felt aggrieved by the result. They should be thankful to the lady luck as in between those two matches, Chelsea hit the post 4 times.

2006 Christmas week turned out to be a miserable celebration of unlucky days for Chelsea. Drew in their last 2 games of year 2006 fixture and confirmed to be struggling in 2007 when the gap between Manchester United are widen by 6 points. Starting with a match against Reading, Chelsea took the lead through Drogba excellence heading capability. It’s 2-0 towards the half-time and 2-1 after an hour gone. No one, I mean, NO one could have predicted that legendary idiotic move from Ashley Cole. He produced an awkward left foot clearance which hit Essien and dummied past that already helpless Hilario. 2-2 is the score line and I was left feeling aggrieved, wishing that next match against Aston Villa will provide me with some joy.

The match against Aston Villa proved to be another disappointment for me. No need for another review of that match as its original review is already a boring piece of writing.

If before this, I asked Barca fans and Man U fans to pray for their safety in the wilderness of their league, now I’m sitting on my knee, praying that the Blues will fly again.

Free Money : The Surf Junkies

My European Dream Shattered

Last night was a nightmare (for me and Thomas Schaaf), a nightmare that should turn out to be a sweet dream. But I guess I just have to say good luck to Werder Bremen in their EUFA Cup challenge (which by the way, wouldn't be followed by me). It is truly a great effort by them even when they are seeded with Champs League holder and Premiership champion. Standing ovation by me...

Anyway, last nite (morning by some) was the moment when everybody get a hold of an idea of how Barcelona play exactly. One word, FEAR. Yes, it resembles a title from Monolith but forget about it. Barcelona knew what fear is when you could see Eidur Gudjohsen dropping down to as far as a left back in that match. Barcelona knew how it feels like to be chased down like a dog when Bremen threw everything they got in the second half of the match (unfortunately, Klose and Klasnic hasn't got what Drogba got in Chelsea, flank SUPPLIER)

I cant say much, except this, even though Chelsea is a boring team (said Cock-Rooney) but Chelsea hasn't gone as far as telling 9 of its outfield players to defend one penalty box against 5 opposition players. That's too shameful to be done by a club known as Champs League holder (they cant even stay top of the table in group phase, how can they even call them self champion).

Tonite, I have one more dream and I wish Benfica will be the star this time around. Barcelona's prayer has been called, I wish Wan U's prayer aren't.

Fergie's Amnesia

Watched Man Utd v Chelsea last Sunday and seriously, i'm loving it. I thought that my team was losing it all (look at how freely giggs and ronal-who-do ran their flank). Uh, the adrenaline rushed me to shut the television off but my instinct, which I got one, told me to stay.

I'd stayed and guess what, the introduction of Essien as the new right full-back(or wing-back if you like, with no disrespectful to Geremi) are phenomenal. You can call Benitez as Special One or Fergie as Ass-Face, oppss!! But for me Jose the man Maurinho was the real star in managerial position.

Okay, fine, Man Utd also got their moment in the match (the first 45 minute, you forgot??!Nevermind, figured that out earlier) but the team should blame Fergie because his forgetfulness's that cost them their precious win.

What forgetfulness you said... well watched carefully the corner that lead to the goal. Who was marking Carvalho?? No one if you asked me.

Big team like Man Utd (somebody told me they was big) should have remember that Chelsea nowadays got 5 precise,good players who can head the ball into the net and leave the opposition sweat tears regretting how they lost their point. Terry (huh, this man CAN jump), Ballack, Sheva, Drogba and the one that everyone always forgot, MR Ricardo Carvalho.

What should Red Devil fans do?? Either they find another manager or just wait this Wednesday morning to see another Man Utd European Dream shattered (by Benfica you idiot, not Southend).

It has been a long time (and I mean looonnggg…) since my last post and I have an itchy hand to type something right now. I’m firing it away.

The 1st Absence : Common Sense of Exam
Last 3 weeks has been a hectic week in all Abyss (according to an ancient text found in ruin of Agtarsh, this is the MOST). Why in the hell does exam need to be done??! If you’d asked that question to anyone, the answer couldn’t be simpler than,

“We need to conduct examination so that we can assess your level of understanding to whatever that you’re suppose to understand”

Who’s to blame actually if I failed?? They’re just doing their job to make sure “I understand whatever need to be understand” and I just doing my job to satisfy my own need (to be lazy, if you’re puzzled).

Anywho, I’m just had this thought on why they haven’t figured out that there are scholars (students in Abyss) that understand something but doesn’t had the capacity to store it properly or just lazy to remember.

Throw the damn book for god sake. There’s no harm of doing that. Take a look at Harvie University, Oxfed University and others (don’t make assumptions that you’re not good). They do an open book examination because they figured out that when students gets out there and start to work, they will use their book as a guidance when they need them not 2 weeks before they do any task.

Conclusion huh…our education system sucks. I don’t know where or what or who, but I like to believe it does sucks.

The 1st Absence : Love her, dump her ??
I just came to realized that avoiding gals would be THE best way to live fully without any kind of disturbance. Disturbance could be anything from jealousy, miss, or just plain stupid pretend-game that I’m actually nice.

It’s hard or maybe near impossible to pull it off when you’re long gone in it. Now the sin of putting myself into this thing will haunt me forever, I’m sure of it because it is now.

Enough said.

The 1st Absence : The MANager
I’ve been introduced to the fan of Tonyrefail Trotters last week as their new manager and hell, their applauses nearly made me cry (seriously…). Divine Blues fans are amazing and I couldn’t keep my ego intact as I signed a few autographs before I leave the press conference.

Last night was a big match for me as it was my first competitive match that I had ever managed. It was awesome, 2-1 was the result but we’re in control throughout the match. I couldn’t say more about it.

An Itchy Wait : Kicking Barcelona Out

Some said that the safest place to hide is the simplest place that you can come out with. As for football clubs, home soil is where they win and for some well-known club, they called their own stadium as Fortress.

But even your home wouldn't be safe if the one that were hunting you is a tornado.

Barcelona realized this type of thing last Wednesday. They thought they can win easily against Chelsea when they are playing at the Nou Camp. Their goals cannot even stand to be compared what Chelsea had produce in that match. Outrages goal from Lampard and an equally good goal from Drogba (he's on fire right now) ensures that Barcelona will have to battle their way out of this group.

Edmilson (which is not going to be a Barca regular after all in 1-2 years) cannot help himself but to babble about Jose's stupidity. Arrogance is a must if we're facing a great club and it's also a must have attitude when you're playing mind games with your rival. Being humble is just another way to humiliate Barca when Chelsea got a point in their so called Nou Camp and Jose choose to be arrogant. Barca should be thankful not to be humiliated through Jose's humble statement.

I couldn't wait for the future match when Werder Bremen take on that filthy Barcelona. A draw should be enough to shed sweats out of Barca. For the time being, I'm suggesting this to all Barca fan ...

Cross your finger, sing your prayer, and wish that Werder Bremen is nothing when they're not.

Lampard Critics : Scattered?

Just what did I tell you guys earlier about Frank (Lampard, No 8, Chelsea). He's searching for his form and guess what, Sheffield Utd aren't lucky as they were the first to taste what is called the REAL Lamps. 1 goal from freekick and 1 superb assist cross that will make even Beckham trembles.

As for Sheffield Utd, they aren't only unlucky to tasted that but also for having Neil Warnock as their manager. Seriously, if I were Claude Davis or Keith Gillespie, I would feel ashamed by my manager post match comment. What did Warnock said? Here's some of his comments :

If he was babbling about Lamps freekick than he need to open both of his eyes and take a look again at the match review on Drogba's foul (if you could even call it a foul). And having watching throughout the match I do think referee, M Atkinson may have been a little bias towards Sheffield Utd.

What I can say is Warnock humiliated his club players by making that type of statement. Like what Paul Masefield said in Football Crazy, Warnock is finding a reason and couldn't admit that his team isn't having what it takes to survive in Premiership.

Barcelona Slumped

I can't believe what I saw last night. Chelsea (my team) blocked everything thrown by those filthy Barca lead by he-thought-he's-cool-by doing-that Frank Rijkaard. I'm surprised. I'm shocked.

I am fan of Chelsea but facing Barca without 2 main goalie would, of course shed some sweat from even the die hardest of fan. Remembering what Barca had put Chelsea through in the last 2 season of Champs League, I would at most expect a draw (with losing 0 - 2 being the worst). But no, Hilario doesnt even have to use a towel to swept his sweat. 3-4 ordinary saves showed how much Barca had degraded.

Enough about that worthless Barca ... lets talk about my beloved Blues. Main man last night, I could give it to everyone of them but for me, its Drogba who has shown great work rate and his excellence shot that finished Barca off is out of this world (remember Liverpool Sept 17 2006, deja vu??). He just kept on running, tackle, start running again. 10 out of 10 performance.

World Best Footballer and "New Maradona" are sure as hell will be shivering after this since they've seen for themself how hard Boulahrouz and Cole could become. So much for the phrase "balls sticking to Messi's leg"...blergh

Much more can be said about last night but I'll save my word for next round of group phase... prepare yourself Barca

Longest Day in this Month

I'm now experiencing the most ... exhausting day of this year fasting period. why ?? well, quite simple, even you could try it yourself. I'll list it down for anyone ready to face the challenge (i never had any of those heart pumping, brain popping, pee squishing experience, so this is a challenge in my term...buzz off hikers)

1) Dont eat for 16 hours straight. No more than 2 hours of sleeping is allowed.

2) Walk with a high tempo for 1 1/2 miles after 8 hours of number 1. Only hot day condition is suitable for this. Walking during a rainpour is called cheating.

3) At the end of the 16 hours un-eat-athon, do yourself a favor, sip down a CUP, i repeat, a CUP of any flavoured coffee (cheaters will be hunt down by Reaper 10 years earlier from their scheduled death)

4) Buy yourself a burger (stricly only one chicken burger with no cheesse or any special layer). No McD or KFC is allowed

5) At this point you're restricted from eating for 20 more hours. No more than 4 hours of sleeping is allowed.

6) Sip 2 glasses of water ... just plain water in between the first 10 hours.

7) Repeat step 2.

5 hours before this un-eat-athon end ... you should feel exactly what i felt when i was typing this. I know, i know quite well people of Palestine are doing far more worst than me, but again, it's my challenge ...
