Accordingly, grades in all Honors and Advanced Placement courses will be counted for rank-in- class on the following scale:</p>
<p><br />A+ =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 5.3 pts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 5.0 pts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 4.7 pts.<br />B+ =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 4.3 pts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; B&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 4.0 pts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; B-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 3.7 pts.<br />C+ =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 3.3 pts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; C&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 3.0 pts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; C-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; =&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 2.7 pts.</p>
<p>An A+ grade in a regular course receives 4.3 points. The maximum un-weighted GPA is 4.0.</p>
<p>The following entrance requirements apply to honors level courses. These are minimum requirements to be considered for entrance into restricted honors classes. Student selected for these restricted courses typically have GPA&rsquo;s much higher than the minimum. The AP for Curriculum and Scheduling will have the final say regarding exceptions or special circumstances.</p>
<ol>
<li>Entrance requirements for honors and advanced placement courses include, but are not limited to:<ol>
<li>Cumulative overall 3.0 GPA or higher </li>
<li>Cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher in the subject </li>
<li>Recommendation from the current teacher in the subject area </li>
<li>Acceptable scores on standardized or placement tests </li>
<li>Recommendation from counselor</li>
</ol></li>
<li>A student may be dropped from an honors or AP course if any of the following occur:<ol>
<li>Cumulative weighted GPA drops below 3.0 </li>
<li>Grade in course (as listed on the transcript) falls below a B- </li>
<li>Teacher recommends that the student be dropped from the course<br />roster </li>
<li>Counselor recommends that the student be dropped from the course<br />roster</li>

These include PE, Lifetime Fitness, Aquatic Skills, Weight Training, Junior Advisory, Senior Magis, Advanced Digital Photography, Journalism, Personal Finance, Writing Workshop, and TA&rsquo;s.</p>]]></content></entry><entry><title>I,D,F Grades</title><category term="Requirements"/><id>http://www.loyolahs.edu/academic-profile/2011/1/12/idf-grades.html</id><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://www.loyolahs.edu/academic-profile/2011/1/12/idf-grades.html"/><author><name>Katherine Cullen</name></author><published>2011-01-12T20:29:00Z</published><updated>2011-01-12T20:29:00Z</updated><content type="html" xml:lang="en-US"><![CDATA[<p>If a student receives an &ldquo;I&rdquo; (Incomplete) for any graded course, it will be recorded on the transcript and will count as 0.0 points when computing GPA&rsquo;s. This will remain until all the coursework is completed and the teacher has awarded the appropriate letter grade (A- F).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Furthermore, a student may be denied a diploma until the incomplete course is made up to the school&rsquo;s satisfaction.</p>
<p>Students who receive an &ldquo;F&rdquo; in any course must repeat the course either at Loyola or through an approved alternative program. The &ldquo;F&rdquo; will not be removed from the transcript and will continue to be counted (as a 0.0) in the student&rsquo;s weighted and un- weighted GPA&rsquo;s even after the course has been repeated. A student may be denied a diploma until the course receiving an &ldquo;F&rdquo; grade is made up to the school&rsquo;s satisfaction.</p>
<p>Students who receive a  &ldquo;D&rdquo; in any course may not repeat the course at Loyola. &nbsp;A &rdquo;D&rdquo; is  considered a passing grade for Loyola High School. &nbsp;However, depending  on the class and the year in which the course was taken, a &ldquo;D&rdquo; might  make a student ineligible for certain universities.&nbsp; In these cases,  students should seek out other institutions such as on-line schools or  local community colleges to repeat the course.&nbsp; Only courses  pre-approved by the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Scheduling  will be permitted.&nbsp; Once the course is repeated and a passing grade is  presented to Loyola High School via a formal transcript, the new grade  will be entered in a comment box on the Loyola transcript.&nbsp; However, the  original &ldquo;D&rdquo; will remain on the transcript as will the GPA weight of  1.0.&nbsp; Only the original &ldquo;D&rdquo; and not the new grade will be used in  computing weighted and un-weighted GPA&rsquo;s.</p>]]></content></entry><entry><title>Senior Year Requirements</title><category term="Requirements"/><id>http://www.loyolahs.edu/academic-profile/2011/1/12/senior-year-requirements.html</id><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://www.loyolahs.edu/academic-profile/2011/1/12/senior-year-requirements.html"/><author><name>Katherine Cullen</name></author><published>2011-01-12T20:28:00Z</published><updated>2011-01-12T20:28:00Z</updated><content type="html" xml:lang="en-US"><![CDATA[<p>Seniors are required to take six academic courses even if all graduation requirements have been met. TA&rsquo;s must attend to their duties at their specified locations on a daily basis. TA&rsquo;s may also be assigned to the main office, student center, library, counseling office, or community service office. The Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Scheduling approves all such positions as well as any exceptions to these responsibilities.﻿</p>]]></content></entry></feed>
