META Scholarship for Hispanic Students DUE APRIL 15th!!!

META scholarships are range from $500 book scholarships, to $7,500 program scholarships payable over four years, for students attending four year college. Scholarships are available for students attending community college with plans to transfer after two years to a four year college as well.

To be eligible to apply for a META scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
• Be of Hispanic Heritage
• Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
• Plan to enroll Full-Time in an accredited not-for -profit 4 year university during FALL of 2015
• U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
• Complete FAFSA
• Financial need

Checklist:
Please be sure you have all necessary materials required for submission. You will need to upload them to the application in order for it to be complete. Any materials not included prior to the April 15th deadline will make your application ineligible.
1. Essay
2. 2014 Tax return or financial verification for your parents
3. Official high school
4. Two individuals who can provide letters of recommendation and their email addresses. Be sure to let them know they will be receiving an email from META and that they MUST complete and send in the email prior to the April 15, 2015 deadline. They must include your name and your social security number so META can match them to your application.
5. SAR (Student Aid Report from your FAFSA)
6. Any letters of acceptance and/or financial aid award letters

Preference is given to students who have demonstrated leadership or mentoring qualities through their record of involvement and participation in civic activities in school or in their communities.

I’m First! Scholarship–due 5/22

The I’m First! Scholarship is a $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per year, renewable for four years of college) awarded to up to 10 graduating high school seniors who will be the first in there family to go to college and are planning to attend a CSO College Partner institution.

Scholarship winners have the unique privilege to serve as bloggers on ImFirsrt.org to share their college experiences and offer advice to aspiring first-generation college students on how to make it to and through college.

Ideal candidates will display the follow qualities:
* Seeking financial aid and scholarship support for college
* Strong writing skills and unique perspective
* Strong capacity for reflection for blogging
* Experience with or commitment to community service
* Leadership experience
*Commitment to helping expand educational opportunities for other first-generation students

Scholarship winners are not selected based on academic qualifications such as GPA, SAT/ACT scores or intended majors.

Undocumented students are eligible and strongly encouraged to apply!

Aspiring Nurse Scholarship June 30th deadline

Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its inaugural 2015 Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:

1. A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics

2. A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare

This scholarship competition is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30.

We ask interested students to visit www.nursingschoolsalmanac.com and click the banner on the right-hand side of the website’s homepage. Here they’ll find detailed scholarship information and the official application form.

SCV ACSA Scholarship due 4/3/2015

The Santa Clarita Valley Association of California School Administrators (SCV ACSA) is a formal group of elementary, junior high, and high school administrators from all school districts in the Santa Clarita Valley. Our scholarship is designed to provide for the future, as well as, to connect with the past. The recipients of the scholarships will each be awarded $500.00. We will be awarding 8 scholarships in total with one senior being selected from each of the six comprehensive high schools, one senior from Bowman and one senior from SQ/LP/AOC .

The following is designed specifically to help you through the application process.

Criteria:
1. Applicants must have attended Santa Clarita Valley schools for at least seven years, including at least one year at the elementary school level.
2. Applicants must have already applied for admittance into a trade school, community college, and/or four year college/university.
3. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA.

Process:
The application has three components:
1) Application Form
2) Letter of Recommendation written by a high school educator (teacher, counselor, administrator, etc.)
3) Essay written by the applicant: One page, single-spaced (typed or word processed; 12 pt. font) addressing the following topic:

ESSAY TOPIC:
Identify a Santa Clarita Valley elementary or junior high school educator who impacted your life. Explain why you admire this educator and how this educator shaped your life.
