A Little Goodness

2010-06-06T18:26:00.000-07:00

I guess summer is here now, And that means time for good listening. My new old favourite songs at the moment...

Kansas - Dust In The Wind
Sugar Ray - Fly
Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer
The Turtles - HappyTogether

(pst. listen for free. )

While i listened to these songs and others, I've finally come up with my own pattern for a slouchy hat. I have been wanting one forever! Now I've got one, but i think I might list this one on Etsy, and make another one in a different color for myself. I realized after i finished it that mustard yellow isn't really my color...

Thanks Everyone as always for taking a peek through my blog! :)

Hello again! Been spending a lot of time working on my etsy, and making new items.
I am very proud of my new banner and avatar for my shop. I don't think they're as great as I was hoping, but with my experience in photo editing, I think I've done pretty well!

I've gone from this:To this:

I think it's atleast a little bit better than before.

Armpits and Breast Cancer

2010-05-08T08:53:00.000-07:00

As part of working my way to all natural living, I discovered today that there is new research that will encourage the use of natural and organic antiperspirants and deodorants. Studies show that the aluminum ingredients in manufactures antiperspirants are linked to breast cancer. WEll, we all have heard this before, right? Most of us were skeptic. We heard, but didn't think much of it. Many things cause cancer today, and some are just hard to avoid. Very few bother to make a change for such small things. However, This Article gives some shocking statistics that might help a few of us think a little bit harder about how we take car of ourselves.

I decided to give some of these natural deodorant recipes a try. I will update with my opinions and discoveries.
Coconut Oil Deodorant
Spray Deodorants
Liquid Deodorant

The coconut oil resipe has the best reviews, and is also the most popular to find.

Here goes to experimenting!

School is finished for the season, and wireless internet has finally arrived at the house. After a few days of frustration with trying to set up the ridiculous modems, we've (But really I) figured it out.
Now what does this mean, besides hours and hours of watching ridiculous and cool youtube videos? (including, of course, SAILOR MOON!) new etsy! I've been wanting to set it up, but I'm so paranoid with entering my credit card information on strange internet connections. I've already had fraud purchases on my card before, I certainly don't want to deal with that again! Now, I have a 24/7 available internet connection and it's private. No worries here!
Well, I thought i'd give a quick update letting you know to expect me more often!

p.s. that ridiculously cool youtube video really is pretty sweet, i advise you take a minute to check it out!

2010-03-30T08:12:00.000-07:00

What a super-rat he is. cheap dollar store prizes. But, boy, did I have a blast! I felt like a kid again.
I went with my boyfriend and his family for his little brother's birthday. We bought about fifty tokens, but found maybe a hundred or more. Boyfriend, Jimmy, taught his younger siblings how to scam. my favourite trick : watch someone play a game, "accidentally" knock over their cup of tokens. Act nice and help them pick them up, but pocket a few by slipping them in your sleeve as you put a few back into the child's cup. Free tokens! Devious, I know, but this, along with scouring the place for dropped or forgotten tickets, earned us a few bags of cotton candy, suckers, stickers, bakugan(sp?) fuzzy coloring poster, and my (almost) favourite, a spiderman dart game. Of course, the dart was really just a velcro ball...

my favourite souvenir, however, was the picture Chuck E Cheese sketched for/of us:

Happy Birthday, Lucas!

I'm almost as excited about this laser as he is, i admit. :)
it's highest power is about 5 megawatts, shoots up to 9000 feet (oh my stars!) and has a twinkle light cap. it's pretty neat.

Writing on the ceiling with delayed shutter time.

Done by "capturing" incense smoke in a random plastic box, and waving laser beam back and forth through the smoke. pretty awesome...

p.s. I've got a new batch of Items that will be listed on etsy withing the next couple of days!
Most or almost all are made with mroe natural items. i.e. hemp, stone, bone, wood.
i like. :)

while waiting for my Art History exam to begin, and Art major asked if i minded her taking a few photos of me studying. Of course i didn't mind, but it got my mind wandering. Why am i not the one walking around with the camera? What happened? I used to be a photography guru... So my plan is at least one photo per day. I know, i know, project 365 for facebook... but what can i say? It's good encouragement. Plus, i really need the practice taking photos of my creations. Anyway, i thought i'd tell you that so someone can hold me accountable. It's in visible proof, now i MUST do it.

Yes, so off to Psychology class. fun fun...

I've been a lazy bum this weekend. sitting around the house with a head cold. Sneezing and wheezing all over the place, but I'm feeling much better now. Waiting for class to start: Art History. Not the most exciting, but i'm still grateful to finally be in college.

becoming a broke-ass college student.

2010-02-01T14:49:00.000-08:00

hmm. It's been an interesting journey so far. I'm now taking classes at Community college. It's tough, but I'm glad to be here. At least I've got my health insurance back!
Life's just rolling on, I've been studying twenty-four-seven. My life is pretty boring these days.
Many days have been spent at coffee shops where I type an average of 4 essays a week. I knit while I wait for the bus, and cook while I wait for my Significant Other to come home from work.
My new year's resolutions are going pretty well. I'm still smoking, of course, but at least I'm not paying. I bum an average of 3 cigarettes a day from random passer-by's on my walks downtown.
Yes, life as a broke-ass college student it going pretty swell, for the most part.

and what happens during art history lectures these days, you ask?

new year

2010-01-04T16:23:00.000-08:00

...with tons of new oppourtunities.

resolution 1: i'm not buying anymore cigarettes. yup, that's right, i'm taking the lazy way out. i'll still smoke 'em, but i just won't pay for 'em anymore. 8 dollars a pack for my preference is such a waste when you're a chimney like me.

resolution 2: will not cut my hair more than once a month, and no more than an inch at a time. i think it's time for me to start growing my hairs out long again. i miss them. and maybe by next year i'll finally be able to dread my hair like i've always wanted.

resolution 3: leave michigan at least 4 times. i don't care where, but last year i did not travel as much as i wish i did.

resolution 4: do not drop any classes once i've started. i've already skimped on college too much.

resolution 5: last but not least, do not break previous resolutions.

P.S. meet my cutie pie Jimmy!

of course we look like 13 year olds, but i guess i'm okay with that. i'm happy, and that's all i really care about. :)

Happy belated new ear!

2009-11-15T03:46:00.000-08:00

so we've all seen what goes down on the intenet, get-rich-quick scams are everywhere nowadays. And yes, they are rather annyoing. pop-ups, junk emails, even google ads! why are they here, and do any of them actually work?

well, most get-rich-quick ideas have something to do with advertisement. such as AdSense, which many bloggers are familiar with. However, there are three sites that i have actually deemed worthy.

Firstly, is Inbox Dollars. this was shown on (if i do remember correctly) Good Morning America AND the Tyra Show. since i absolutely looooveTyra, i decided it was worth a few seconds of my time to check it out. i asked around and did some research, and boy, is this one easy! well worth the signup. (which is free. yay!) infact, when you sign up, they give you a five dollar bonus. isn't that neat! the way this company works, is they send you two - five emails a day, and all you have to do is click them. no, Really! just click! you get paid for every emeil you can confirm reading. and comfirmation only takes one click of the mouse! Also, you can get paid to play online games, and take surveys. the minimum "cashout" (the amount of money you need in your balance in order to request a check in your name) is $30. seems like a lot, but it actually flies by. if you check you email inbox about once a week, and take a couple surveys each month, you're already on your way to extra money in your pocket!
Click here to sign up, and get your first $5 instantly!

Another Great way i have come across is Mindfeild Online. This is a survey-only website, that pays anywhere from $1 to $7 for each survey. This website also send you emails everytime you are eligible to take a new survey. the biggest perk about this website is that you only need a minimum of $5 to request a check in your name! i've already gotten three of my own, and i've only been a member for a month! Also free to signup, and you get a $1 dollar bonus when you sign up for free!
check it out here!

Of course, these companies won't pay your bills or buy you a big fancy home, but they definitely help feed all the hungry empty wallets out there right now. It's a fact, more people than ever are in debt now, and almost everyone would like to have a little extra spending money. Well, Now you can get just that! someof my favourite ways to spend my "Internet monies" are by donating to organizations like World Wildlife and Samaritan's Purse, and i admit, i like to treat myself to a fancy dinner or a spa treatment once in a while.

Planning on a trip to another country soon? well, next time you do, check out the coins there. PetSalad (or Rob, if you'd like to go the more formal route) can make some beautiful pendants out of your rare and spare change. one of my favourites is the hummingbird, carved from a jamaican 25 cent coin.
