Tips For Wedding Transportation For Your Big Day!

Wedding transportation is a HUGE part of your big day and we've been caring for brides in and around New England and Boston since 1985. Now that you've said "I will!", it's time to get to planning! Here's a great timeline for you to follow on picking your transportation services for your big day. Remember, you want your wedding day to be as stress free as possible so don't just go off price, read below to make sure you'll be taken care of for your dream wedding.

Six to Twelve Months Ahead

- Start to research your local limousine services. Look for reviews by Brides and Grooms, read the company’s website to get a sense of their niche. If they appear focused on airport and taxi service, they may not be as experienced as a company that focuses on special occasions and weddings

- Call, don’t email. You can get a good sense of the quality of the operation by how the phone call goes. If there is a wedding specialist or wedding manager, the company likely has some expertise in the matter. Conversely, if there are issues with their professionalism, it may be apparent. Trust your instincts.

- Ask for their assistance in figuring out the logistics. A good provider will present multiple options, will guide you on the size and number of vehicles you need, and will map out exact routes and times so you can be assured that your plan is successful from the start.

- Plan a visit to inspect and view the vehicles. You want to know exactly what you’re getting. You wouldn’t buy a cake without a tasting right?

- Make special requests. For example request a specific car from the fleet, ask for your favorite (or most senior) chauffeur, your favorite bottle of bubbly or sparkling grape juice instead of the house brand.

-Sign a detailed contract that includes all of your expectations, payment and pricing, your contracted time span and the company policy if you go over your time.

Two to Four Months Ahead

- Book a limo for your bachelor/bachelorette night out, rehearsal dinner, transportation for out-of-town guests, and most importantly, your honeymoon!

- Pay off your balance including gratuity so that you don’t have to worry about handling cash the day of your wedding

- Plan a seating chart for each leg of the transportation. This is especially helpful if you have multiple vehicles. The bride should always be seated at the drivers’ rear door to allow all the other passengers to get in and out of the passenger side rear door ahead of the bride so she can make her grand exit out of the limo with everyone watching!

One of my favorite memories growing up is taking a limousine to a concert and thinking I was as big of a rock star as Madonna was! Winter Fun in Boston with Accent Limousine

Happy winter everyone! I can't believe New England waited so long to dump snow on us and it's supposed to be 50 degrees tomorrow? We all know to never count on an actual weather pattern in this part of the country... one day we get two feet of snow, the next day a suntan. It's crazy!

So what have you been doing this winter? I hope you've all been enjoying making snow angels and taking the kids sledding before this white stuff melts. Here are a few ideas for some winter fun!

Boston.com complied a great list a couple of years ago of 40 Great Places to Sled Around Boston if looking for fun new hills to tackle.
If you're into ice skating, we all know that the best place for an afternoon of skating fun is the Boston Common Frog Pond. Take a look at their web page for hours and information.
I've never been a skier or snowboarder but my husband used to teach snowboarding lessons at Blue Hills Ski Area when he was younger and swears that if you don't want to invest an entire day or weekend heading up north for snow, that you can definitely get your fix at Blue Hills.
If you want the full skiing experience, head on up to Vermont to Killington and experience skiing, dining, and a night away for a great little winter getaway.
If you'd prefer to stay out of the cold, head to one of Boston's best museums and leave the snow to the bunnies.

A Weekend in Newport, RI

Hey guys! Remember my Summer Bucket List? I've been slowly but surely crossing things off that list and one of those "action items" was to spend a night in Newport, RI. Well, I managed to cross it off twice because I got to spend a full weekend there a few weeks ago!

I actually graduated college from Salve Regina University in Newport ten years ago and I've only been back once so this trip was in desperate need. I missed this gorgeous town. I went with six amazing women and had an absolute blast.

Here are some of my recommendations if you're heading to Newport for some fun and sun:

Atlantic Beach Hotel & Suites is the perfect hotel to stay at if you're looking for direct access to the beach. They'll give you towels and all you have to do is cross the road to dive into the ocean.
If you're looking to stay right in town with all the shops and restaurants, you can't go wrong with Hotel Viking. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and One Bellevue Restaurant serves some killer fancy seafood.
Head down to Bowen's Wharf to check out some amazing yachts and have a few drinks at one of the MANY bars and restaurants right on the water.
Take a relaxing ride along Ocean Drive (which is ranked #1 of all attractions in Newport) and bask in the spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Check out the Newport Mansions: The Breakers, Marble House, Rosecliff, Chateau-sur-Mer, The Elms... incredible architecture and wonderful history.
Grab a quick lunch at The Brick Alley Pub. Between their huge salad bar and delicious lobster roll, you'll get a taste of Newport and continue window shopping down Thames Street.
Dance the night away at The Pelham. They have cheap drinks, cover bands, a late-night DJ, and before you know it you'll be closing out the bar at 1:00am.

Oh and one big tip? If you're spending the night downtown and your hotel is more than a mile away, arrange a taxi beforehand to come and get you. We learned this lesson and weren't able to find one cab in Newport at 1:15am and had to walk a mile and a half back to our hotel. My feet hurt.

So just head down to Newport, explore the city, the restaurants, the architecture, the nature, the drinks, and your company. That's what summers are for!
