Now my sister is not sure whether she should just buy the Beltronics V940 Vector Radar Detector which I found online or V955 or V995 that some friends and relatives suggested.

Hey, sis, you don’t live in a town where cops sit around all day and give out speeding tickets, okay?

To me, V940, V955 and V995 are the same. The only difference is perhaps the price. The first costs $129.99, the second costs $145.29 while the last one costs $199.99.

Okay, maybe there are more powerful features for the V955 and V995 that the V940 doesn’t have like:

i) Full X, K, SuperWide Ka, Ku, and Safety Warning System radar capability as well as front and rear laser detection;

ii) Varactor-tuned receiver provides long-range protection against all radar threats;

iii) Radar Receiver/Detector Type: Superheterodyne, VTO.

If my sister’s budget is under $200, well then, any of the above radar/laser detectors fits her bill.

My goodness! Why on earth would hubby eye on such an expensive amplifier? It’s $329.93 even after 47% discount or a savings of $320.07!

I know Alpine is highly recommended when it comes to reasonably priced amp with excellent sound quality, but is it really worth paying $329.93 in order to get the most power out of the system for clean, crisp sound even when on the highway? Pioneer and Kenwood amps are great as well, right? >.<

So, to prove that I was right, I spent some time reading car audio fan and customer reviews about Alpine, Kenwood and Pioneer amplifiers.

Okay, please forgive me that I was wrong! Apparently there are more positive reviews towards Alpine’s compared to Kenwood and Pioneer’s.

Looking at the size of the amp, I am sure you get the same unsure feeling of its ability as I did. But the truth is that it proves you including me wrong.

The PDX-5 is about as big as a text book; it is small enough to be installed under the passenger seat.

To be frank, I am keeping my fingers crossed that hubby is not thinking of installing one this month or next month since we have just had our old cpu replaced with a new Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz Desktop Processor. @.@

Let me fill back the emergency fund with $279.99 before digging out more than $300 to spend on a car amp. Honestly, this Alpine multichannel amplifier can wait.

It’s logical to consider Bel again since i) she has been pleased with the existing Bel 890 and ii) the V940 and others in the Bel Vector line receive constant top value ratings among friends and relatives.

Quoting a relative who has also recently replaced his old Bel 890 with V940, “When thinking about how much a speeding ticket costs you nowadays, it’s practical to make an investment like this.”

To help with choosing the right Beltronics radar detector, I have voluntarily read up a bit of reviews for the past few days. In terms of power cord, my sis can be rest assured that it has been upgraded to a more robust coiled cable and a telephone plug compared to the old cable.

It’s annoying to keep hearing complaints from her about the Bel 890 power cord that always causes it to reset while in actual fact, she can just solve the problem once and for all by replacing it with a new V940 economical radar detector.

At its current price of $129.99, after a savings of $40, I don’t think my sister will hesitate much. If she really does and would like to wait for the best price, ha, then I will advise her to just i) keep using the old Bel 890 until it fries out or ii) NOT speed in the meantime. ^.^

Speaking of speeding, my sister doesn’t usually drive very fast. The purpose of her using a radar detector is just a warning for her to double check her speed as she drives a lot on highways at night with plenty of cops and loves blasting away music in her car.

I must say that her old Bel 890 unit has absolutely saved her on numerous occasions! Mmmm, replacing it with a new unit of V940 radar detector is just a matter of time!
