Event Date: 05/10/2008 8:30 AM
New Location: Activities Center at USF&#xa0;St. Petersburg

Childhood asthma is a significant health issue affecting our community.

Children miss more days of school every year due to asthma than any other illness
Nearly 1 in 10 children in the U.S. have asthma
8.9 million children have been diagnosed with asthma
Asthma is the third-ranking cause of childhood hospitalizations under the age of 15

The purpose of Family Asthma Day is to improve asthma self-management skills and awareness for children with asthma and their families and to strengthen the partnership between the medical community, families and schools in working with children who have asthma. The&#xa0;Suncoast Pediatric Asthma Coalition&#xa0;is working to improve children&apos;s health in our community. We are a group of concerned parents, health care providers, educators and others. Our coalition is an advocate for children and families who deal with asthma daily.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AchEventsNext7Days/~4/282529163" height="1" width="1"/>
