There are currently as many as 12 Toyota and Lexus hybrid models available in the U.S.

In Japan Toyota hybrid sales reached over twice the number of U.S. sales with 5 million Toyota Camry and Lexus hybrid models sold worldwide.

It is estimated that Toyota is responsible for approximately 34 million fewer tons of C02 emissions emitted from a result of its 20 hybrid vehicles offered worldwide. It is a common theory by many environmental experts today that C02 emissions are responsible for the greenhouse effect on the environment resulting in global warming.

Toyota also reports that Toyota hybrid owners will save over 3 billion gallons of gasoline as a result of driving Toyota hybrid cars.

“With more than 50 hybrid vehicle models from various manufacturers available in the U.S. today, hybrids on the road are saving nearly 500 million gallons of petroleum annually in this country,” said Tony Markel, senior engineer with the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), in Golden, Colo. “With millions of hybrid vehicles on the road today, hybrid powertrains are mainstream market reality,” Markel concluded.

Toyota and Lexus offers 19 hybrids and one plug in electric vehicle in as many as 80 countries globally. Hybrid models currently available by Toyota include; Prius Liftback, Prius v, Prius c, Prius Plug-in, Camry Hybrid, Avalon Hybrid, Highlander Hybrid, Lexus CT 200h, ES 300h, GS 450h, LS 600h and RX 450h, Camry Hybrid, Avalon Hybrid and RX 450h are manufactured in North America with a fourth model, Highlander Hybrid, planned

“The first Prius was a surprising success and we never imagined the market would become as vast as it has for the hybrid powertrain,” said Bob Carter, TMS senior vice president of automotive operations.

There are currently 12 Toyota hybrid nameplates (including Lexus) in the U.S. today, the announcement came from Toyota Motor Sales U.S. A.

When Toyota hybrid sales in Japan were considered, the number rose to 5 million hybrids sold worldwide.

According to Toyota the total estimated savings in C02 emissions from the Japanese automaker’s hybrid vehicles sales is nearly 34 million tons as well as over 3 billion gallons of fuel, compared to combustion engine vehicle output. C02 emissions have been named as being responsible for many environmental problems including recent climate change around the world.

Toyota accounts for 70 percent of the hybrid vehicles in the U.S. and 16 percent of Toyota and Lexus global sales. Hybrid vehicles in general make up approximately 3 percent of the total auto market in the United States.

The 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE is powered by a 2.5 liter four cylinder sedan in conjunction with an electric motor, which helps the Camry to achieve an impressive 41mpg combined highway and city driving. But don’t let the economy and electric engine fool you, this little sedan has some get up and go. With both engines working in unison the Camry delivers an impressive 200hp, which translates to a 0-60mph time of under 8 seconds. That’s not bad for a family sedan that offers great fuel economy to boot.

As with all Toyotas, the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE comes packed with safety features, including; anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, front/rear seat airbags, side curtain airbags, and even knee airbags for the passenger and driver. The 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE also received 5 star crash ratings from the government, which means you can relax as you drive your family down the road.

On the inside, the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE will continue to impress. Seating is comfortable and roomy for both front seat and rear seat passengers, and there are plenty of amenities to satisfy a variety of tastes. Toyota’s Entune package offers smart phone connectivity that includes Bing, Pandora, traffic reports and even the ability to check your stock portfolio. The touch screen panel is smartly designed and offers drivers a one stop shop for all the Entune convenience. The rest of the interior is sharp and clean and offers some of the best seats in this class. Add to that the 13.1 cubic feet available in the trunk and this sedan can fit just about anyone’s situation.

Excellent fuel economy, seamless technology and room for five makes the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE a sedan that is hard to beat. The 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE starts at around $26,000, which considering all it has to offer is just about the best deal you can find in today’s economy.

The 2013 Toyota Prius C offers some very impressive numbers. Fuel economy is rated at 53 in the city and 46 on the highway. This is accomplished through Toyota’s “Hybrid Synergy Drive” which combines a gasoline and electric engine. The engines are utilized together when more power is needed or separately when economy is a priority. All of these decisions are made seamlessly by the Prius’ onboard computers. But Toyota knows that sometimes the driver wants to make all the decisions, so Toyota installed an EV and ECO mode that allows the selection of the gasoline or electric motor. This just gives the driver another option for deciding how they want their Prius to perform.

The interior of the 2013 Toyota Prius C is just as futuristic and well designed as the exterior. The large display offers seamless navigation and entertainment choices for wherever the road may take you. And just like on your smart phone you can access apps like Pandora, Open Table and Bing, so no need to wait on searches until you get home. The Bluetooth compatibility allows drivers to keep their hands on the wheel while still being able to keep in touch with coworkers, family and friends. The sound system will keep you entertained and the blue backlit dials will make sure that all the information you need is readily at hand even in the deep dark night.

The 2013 Toyota Prius C offers everything its gasoline powered cousin does with the advantage of hybrid technology. And with the 2013 Toyota Prius C priced at under $20,000 this is one green vehicle that will be hard to walk by. To see for yourself what a new Toyota hybrid in St. Louis has to offer, visit Acke

The Toyota Prius was first introduced to the world in 1997 and represented Toyota’s first offering of a hybrid electric vehicle. Fast forward several years and now we have the third generation of Prius for the 2013 model year.

Since the Prius is in the third generation of production, it is several leaps ahead of its competitors because engineers have had time to redesign any issues that may have occurred in previous generations. The benefit to buyers of a 2013 Toyota Prius Two is that they are purchasing a refined, affordable model that offers great fuel economy.

In the beginning the Prius only came in the standard hatchback version, but now Toyota offers the Prius in a subcompact model called the Prius C, a larger wagon esque’ version called the Prius V, and a new plug in version. The Prius is powered by a 1.8 liter, 4 cylinder gasoline engine that produces 98hp, and is supplemented by two electric motors that helps boost the total power to 134hp. This power plant works to give the Prius an amazing 50mpg combined highway and city driving.

For 2013 the Prius comes in 5 different trim levels; Two, Three, Person Series Special edition, Four, and the Five. Each trim level offers a variety of features and add ons so that each model can be customized to consumers’ tastes. Standard features on the Prius include; power door locks, power windows, cruise control, steering wheel cruise and audio controls, and a six speaker stereo system with USB connectivity, to name just a few.

Of course safety is always a high priority for Toyota and the 2013 Prius Two is no exception. Standard safety features include; ABS, emergency braking assist, air bags, stability and traction control and even a first aid kit. The 2013 Toyota Prius Two also ranks very well in government crash tests and has been a consistent performer throughout its production life.

The 2013 Prius Two starts at $24,000 and offers consumers a lot of safety and performance for the money. The Prius models make perfect sense for those with a long commute looking to save money or even for a family that simply wants a reliable and comfortable car to get them where they need to go.

Not too long ago, the price tag on an “electric” vehicle was well out of the price range of many. As the demand and popularity grow, the price declines. Additionally, now we have multiple trim options and a wide variety of options. The Toyota Prius has integrated itself well into the lineup of midsize cars.

Critics still say the Toyota Prius is a practical vehicle designed to be efficient rather than offering performance features. Many consumers see the value and great benefit in owning a Prius, including high fuel economy ratings and its spacious interior. Keeping in line with the hybrid model, the 2013 Toyota Prius is powered by a four-cylinder engine partnered with an electric motor which is able to achieve 51 miles per gallon in the city and 48 miles per gallon on the highway.

MSRP starts at $23,000, which is slightly above some of the other models of midsize cars, however, if you plan on owning this vehicle for any length of time, you will make up the extra cost in fuel savings. And don’t forget about the electric vehicle tax credit.

Some car buffs snicker at the 1.8 liter inline 4 engine which pulls 98 horsepower at 5200 rpm, but if you are a Prius owner then you probably aren’t a drag racer. Prius owners purchase this car for fuel economy and reliability. Aside from fuel consumption and reliability, not much else really matters. If you are thinking about a 2013 Prius, it will be an investment that gives back.
