NOTD: Ombre 2.0

The ombre nail trend has been around for a few seasons now but just yesterday I decided to try out a different way of creating the gradient effect. If you've been following my blog from the start you may remember back when I did my first ombre nails, I showed you guys how I did it back then and now I would like to share another way you can get the same look using a slight different technique. I actually prefer this way better because it looks more natural and it's less messy!

Colors I used: Sinful Colors Sweet Tooth, Essie Play Date, and Zoya Kendal

I added 1-2 layers of each color in a row on a make up sponge and dabbed repeatedly on my finger nails until the colors transferred onto my nails (I did three applications on each nail). Wait until the polish has dried a little and then seal with a top coat for a smoother finish.

The Adventures in Macaron Tasting

I have a special blog post for you guys today but first I want to say Happy Birthday to my older sister and this post is in honor of you! Today's post is on macarons! My older sister started baking macarons recently and now she makes a batch almost every week! I haven't made any myself nor have seen my sister prepare them but I've tasted one from almost every batch so far and have tasted them, so yeah.

This was the first macaron I tasted (ever!) and I really enjoyed it! A lot of people either love or hate macarons but this first batch of macarons made me a macaron lover! The inside was very yummy! I'm not sure what the inside was made out of (maybe, raspberry or strawberry) but it is so far the only macaron she made that has a pink filling in it.

My older sister just made these special Pikachu macarons yesterday for her birthday. These are by far the cutest macarons she's made! The inside contains Nutella which makes these even yummier! She made the faces by using red icing jelly and melting chocolates.

Review: Freeman Anti-Stress Dead Sea Mask

So I have another review for you all today! Sorry for all the reviews lately it's just that I've been busy with life and reviews seem to be the easiest posts to write (plus, I have tons of products that I've been meaning to review). Anyways, today I'm reviewing the Freeman Anti-Stress Dead Sea Mask. I'm familiar with Freeman masks (I've tried the cucumber one before) but so far this one is my favorite!

What it claims to do: "This calming mask instantly absorbs excess oil while clarifying and purging slogged pores. Dead Sea Minerals contain natural supplements that are essential for maintaining healthy skin. Sea Salts help replenish and balance moisture. Lavender and Bergamot promote relaxing aromatherapy. Rinse away the mask to reveal smooth, radiant, healthy looking skin. Ideal for all skin typed."

Pros:

- Relaxing scent (like drinking tea on a deserted island)

- Pretty color

- Tightens skin

- Makes skin soft

- Great for oily skin

Cons:

- Itchy

My experience: I bought this for my sister but she let me use it a few times and I fell in love with it! The smell is soothing and the aquamarine color is so pretty! The first time I used this it tighten my skin and made it feel really soft! However, within a few minutes the mask started getting itchy but not the type of itch that irritates your skin or anything. I asked my sister if she gets itchy when she uses the mask but she said no. I'm not sure what's up with my skin. I also notice that my skin is less oily the next day after I use this mask.

Would I recommend this to someone? Yes! I think this is a great mask to have in your collection. Perfect for does relaxing nights!

Review: Maybelline the Falsies Mascara

Hello my lovelies! Today I will be reviewing one of my new favorite mascaras by Mayebelline, the Falsies. I haven't found a product that I really like by Maybelline in a long time but this mascara surprised me and has become my new favorite make up product!

What it claims to do? "It's not mascara, it's false lash glam in a tube, instantly patented spoon brush and pro keratin fiber formula instantly build 8x more volume without clumping. Unique flexible wand helps lift and separate, to provide the look of 3x more lashes. You will find lashes you didn't even know you had!"

Pros:
- Adds volume
- Lengthens
- Applies on evenly
- Doesn't clump
- Holds a curl
- Separates eyelashes
- Great brush (great at curling eyelashes)

Cons:
- Dries out quickly

My experience: I first tried the waterproof version of this mascara a few summers ago and hated it! It smudged and flaked and it was just horrible! I've wanted to buy the normal version of The Falsies for a while but it wasn't until I read that Ayumi Seto uses this mascara that I decided to finally pick it up! In my first application I noticed that it made my lashes look thick and full! I love how it has a slightly curved brush because it makes it easier for me to curl my lashes with the brush. I've been wearing this mascara for a month now and can tell you that I will be repurchasing it for a long time, it's my new go-to mascara!

Would I recommend this to someone? Yes! I'm not a fan of most Maybelline products but The Falsies mascara gets my stamp of approval!

Here is my wishlist for May. I love making these wishlist posts because they remind me of the things I need/want to buy for the month.

I've been really into getting healthy again so I've been browsing online for some bento supplies so that I can pack my lunches (and make them cuter) for work and summer, because planning your lunches is a really good idea so you're not tempted on eating junk food. Speaking of summer it's only a few weeks away and i've already started my "summer supplies list" a few things on my list are a cute pair of sneakers, a snapback, bright nail polish, a backpack, etc. But all of these things won't matter because i'll probably be spending most of my summer playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf! I've been waiting for this game for FOREVER and finally in 4 weeks it will be in my palms (yes, i'm way to excited for this game)!

Spring Spotlight: Platforms

You know how they say "History repeats itself?" well it's true especially in fashion what's "in" now has probably been "in" a few years back and will most likely return a few years later, like platforms! Yes, platforms are making a comeback or have been making a comeback for a while now but I have just now started seeing the thick sole shoes pop in around shops. Don't worry these platforms aren't as scary as they were back in the day. In fact, the highest ones I've seen in stores are about 4 inches (online is a different story). I personally am a fan of this trend, I remember watching the Spice Girls walk around in 7 inch platforms growing up but I never thought years later I would be wearing a (smaller yet modern) pair myself!

I'm a big fan of homemade beauty products. This mask sounds very good and easy, I may try it over the weekend.

Style Crush: Silent Siren

Today's style crush will be on one of my new favorite jpop groups, Silent Siren! Silent Siren is a 4 member all-girl Japanese band, some (if not all) are also Harajuka models. I just recently discovered them about a month ago and I'm in love with their music but I don't know much about them yet (totally had to Google up their names) but I love their sweet fairy like style!

I've been looking for a summer phone case and came across this really cute creamsicle iPhone 4/4s case, it's also a stand!

I'm really interested in this Etude House cute eyes maker from their new Dear Girls collection. It suppose to give you healthy under eye look.

I've been looking for a new makeup remover for sometime and I'm thinking about trying this one. I love how it looks like a little plant!

Snap backs caps are really "in" now so I decided to do some searching on ebay and found this amazing cap! I love how it look like a sundae!

This strawberry travel cushion is so cute and would be a great travel buddy!

Review: LUSH Eau Roma Water

I have another LUSH product to review for you all today. Back last month when I was at the LUSH store the lady was trying to sell me the Tree Tea Water but they only had the larger size (typical) but I didn't want the larger size (because I didn't want invest in a product that I hadn't tried yet) so she said that the Eau Roma Water worked just the same so I decided to get this one instead. I've used almost all of the product and here are my thoughts on it...

What it claims to do? "A gentle rose and lavender tonic for everyday use that helps hydrate dry, sensitive, mature skin without causing it to overreact. Soft, comfortable skin is only a spritz away-eau my!"

Pros:

- Smells good
- Hydrating
- Refreshing
- Vegan

Cons:

- Comes with a spray spritzer (I don't like using spray toners because they're not as effective as regular toners)

My experience: I actually used this product as soon as I got into the car the day I bought it! My first impressions were that it smelled great and that it was refreshing, this wasn't a cool water sort of feel but a bath in a spring water sensation! That night when I got home I used it after I cleansed my face with a cotton round and again I felt like I was being treated at a spa, it is very hydrating! I also love using this when I am out and need a cool mist to refresh my face.

Would I recommend this to someone? Yes! Whether you have dry or oily skin your skin will enjoy this! It's refreshing and will be a great product to have in your bag during summer!

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day is this Sunday so I thought I would share some gift ideas that you could possibly get your mother for this weekend. Obviously, if you know your mother pretty well then just get her whatever you think she would like but if you have no clue on what to get her then keep reading.

Fruit Basket/Bouquet: If you want to give something sweet and edible to your mother then I would recommend a fruit basket/bouquet. I mean you can give her any other dessert but I think chocolate covered fruit would be a great idea because most mom's are usually trying to eat healthier and these bouquets look cute and colorful! Edible Arrangements has a good selection of fruit bouquets that you can pick-up/ get delivered to your mother this weekend (just make sure to plan your deliver before the weekend).

Bouquet of Flowers: Flowers are also another idea that you can get your mother. Make her a nice big breakfast in then morning and have a colorful bouquet of flowers waiting for her in the center of the table with a cute card.

Perfume Sampler Kit: This is what I'll be getting my mom for Mother's Day, the Sephora Favorites Fragrance Deluxe Sampler Kit for Her. She's always wanted one of these kits (she buys them for her friend's all the time but never for herself). Face of the Month: April

This post was originally suppose to go up yesterday but it was a long day yesterday and was so tired by the time I got home that I didn't end up posting it. So today I'm sharing what products I used frequently in the month of April.

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara: I decided to try out this mascara (again). I tried the waterproof version of this mascara last Summer but didn't like it. However, I love this version much better!

EOS Sphere Lip Balm in Sweet Vanilla Nonsense: This is the only EOS lip balm I have right and I'm trying to finish it so I can buy a new one. I made myself a promise that I wouldn't buy another one until I used up all the whole Alice and Wonderland set.

Forever 21 Rose Hand Mirror: I use a hand mirror each time I apply on makeup because it's much more efficient for me. This cute mirror from Forever was $1 and comes in handy.

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream: This was the first BB cream that I ever used and it's one of my favorites! I love the dewy look I get from this!

ELF Liquid Eyeliner: My sister recommend me this liquid eyeliner and so far so good. I just wish it wasn't so wet!

Coastal Scents Bright Eyed Eye Brightener in Light: Still using this as a concealer and loving it! Full review here.

MAC Brow Set in Beguile: I've had this for a while so I started using it again. I like how it makes my brows lighter but wish that the brush was a little bit smaller so that I could get into the corners better.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance: I always use a eye primer before apply any makeup on my eyes (because I have super oily eyelids). I've been using the Too Faced primer for a while but I think it's time to invest in another one. I'm thinking about getting the Urban Decay one because I had a sample of it and really enjoyed it. What's your favorite eye primer?

Baby Lips in Yummy Plummy: Still using this Baby Lips color. I love using Yummy Plummy when I want a settle lip color that isn't too bright.

Yesterday I shared my beauty favorites with you and now today I will be talking about my random favorites from the month of April. These random goodies can be anything from food, books, clothes, etc! i hope you enjoy!

Cat Print Sweater from Romwe: I had a coupon for Romwe and while I was browsing through their shop I saw that they had this cat sweater that reminded me of a Wild Fox jumper, but this one was way cheaper! What I love about this sweater is that it's thin but it can still keep you warm so it's perfect for Spring!

Bobble Water Bottle with Filter: Last month I bought this water bottle by Bobble and I've been using this all month! It also has a built in filter that cleans the water for you (in case you are stranded on a island or something).

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Pillow Mist in Lavender Vanilla: Picked this up from Bath and Body Works because I've been wanting to try it for forever! You spray this on your pillow before you sleep and it leaves a calming scent that is suppose to make you fall asleep. I'm still not sure if this works yet but I love the smell!

Zipper May 2013 Magazine: I've been obsessed with Zipper magazines for the past couple of months (I have three so far) and have bought almost every issue that I can get my hands on! I buy my magazines from this seller on eBay but if anyone knows where I can get them cheaper please let me know! I want to start collecting them!

Ice Breaker Ice Cubes Gum in Bubble Breeze: Love this gum! I can't wait to try out the other flavors!

Play Choo Choo Alice Cat Card Holder: This is basically my new wallet I know it's a card holder but I use cards most of the time anyways and whatever money I do have I keep in the inside pockets. I especially love the fact that the Alice cat blinks at you when you move it! So cute!

A Toltec The Four Agreements Wisdom Book: I started reading this book a few days ago and It has completely changed my views on life! I totally recommend this book! By the way this book isn't religious (even thought the cover looks like it) I mean it can be looked that way but doesn't have too. It does talk about gods and stuff but the whole book isn't about that it's about wanting to be a happier and positive person.

April Beauty Favorites

I'm back with another monthly favorites! I've been testing a lot of new products lately and can't wait to share some of my favorite ones with you guys today!

ELF Liquid Eyeliner: I've been looking for a new liquid eyeliner ever since I finished my Eyeko one. My younger sister recommend me the liquid eyeliner from ELF and it's only $1 so I just had to pick it up! The only problem is that it takes a while for it to dry but besides that it's pretty good.

LUSH Grease Lightning Spot Treatment: There were my positive reviews on this spot treatment from LUSH so I decided to pick it up. When I have a pimple I add a bit of this on top and by the next morning it's 50% gone! Review coming soon!

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara: I used the waterproof version of The Falsies last summer and was disappointed (it flaked a lot) but this time I decided to try out the normal one. I love this mascara! It makes my lashes full and long! My new favorite!

LUSH No Drought Dry Shampoo: I love dry shampoo but the spray ones always run out so fast so I decided to try a powder one instead. This one by LUSH has a yummy citrus smell and the powder doesn't make my hair look white like most dry shampoos do.

Essie's Play Date Nail Polish: Purple polish has been my new obsession for Spring. Play Date by Essie is my current favorite purple polish, it's bright fun color that looks lovely on your nails perfect for Spring and Summer!

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Base Coat: I've been using this base coat for the past couple of months and so far it's done a pretty good job at making my nail polish stay on.

LUSH Eau Roma Water: I was kind of skeptical of this product at first because it's suppose to be for dry skin and I have oily but so far so good. I like using this when my face needs to be refreshed, Plus, the smell is amazing too!

EOS Hand Lotion in Berry Blossom: Back around the beginning of Spring my hands were really dry so I picked up this hand lotion by EOS. This lotion smells lovely and makes my hand feel moisturized. If you are looking for a hand lotion I would recommend this one!

Review: LUSH Dark Angels Cleanser

A lot of people say LUSH has amazing products so I picked up a lot of different products from LUSH hoping to get better skin, LUSH haul here. I really was looking for an amazing cleanser so I picked up Dark Angels hoping it would be "the one". However, this product didn't do everything I wanted it to do.

What it claims to do: "Deep dark cleansing facial scrub for young and oily skin. With charcoal, Rhassoul mud, soothing sandalwood and black sugar"

Pros:
- Smells yummy (like Froot Loops)
- Makes skin soft and smooth
- Gets rid of blackheads
- Doubles as a face scrub
- Last forever! I got the smallest tub and I've barely made a dent!

Cons:
-Messy
- Didn't do enough for me

My experience: The first day I used this I notice how messy it was, I hate messes so this was kind of difficult to use at first but now I'm better at not making such a mess. You get a bit of the product and then add water to create a muddy texture and then smooth it across your face. The first thing I noticed about this cleanser when using it was that it smells like Froot Loops cereal which made cleaning my face much more enjoyable! After a few days of using Dark Angels my skin starter becoming more and more softer and there was less blackheads around my nose area. So why didn't I like this product you ask? Because the bits in this cleanser are kind of harsh on my skin, it's feels more like a scrub then cleanser if you ask me. Also, some reviews online said that this cleanser decreases blemishes but I didn't see that.

Would I recommend this product to someone? If you want softer smoother skin, yes. It makes a nice exfoliate but I don't like using this everyday and it just made my skin softer (which didn't really amaze me).

Bath and Body Works Haul

Last weekend Bath and Body Works had a great deal on their candles so I decided to order a few. I'm not the craziest candle person but I do like it when my room smells sweet! Speaking of sweet all of the candles I ordered have a sweet scent and are related to food, because I love smelling sweet things! Just a heads up if you don't like sweet scents then these candles probably aren't for you.

I have a weird obsession with strawberries so when I saw these I got pretty excited!

Strawberry is from Bath and Body Work's Market collection, a line of fresh fruit and flowers inspired products. I remember smelling this in stores and fell in love with the smell so I had to get it! I also have the mini anti-bacterial gel in this scent!

This was the only candle that I didn't smell in person but the reviews were pretty good and I had high hopes that this wouldn't disappoint me. In one word this smells like strawberry frosting. Amazing! My new favorite candle (I was burning this when I was typing this post)!

I think these two candles are also from another collection inspired by Italy or Europe or something (I'm not sure). My younger sister pressured me into buying the Espresso one but if it were up to me I would've bought the lemon one instead.

Espresso is a rich coffee scented candle. This stuff smells like a coffee shop, which is why my little sister liked it so much (she's in love with Starbucks). This was the first candle I burned and it has a strong scent but it doesn't spread out far. But it's still a awesome candle! I can light this up and play some coffee shop music and pretend I'm at Starbucks.

Gelato to me smells like wild berries sprinkled with sugar on top. It's a perfect sweet yet fruity scent. I haven't burned this yet but I think that the smell probably won't spread out too much either, but we'll see.

Spring Spotlight: Denim

A big trend I've seen since last year was denim but it looks like it's still sticking with us this Spring. Light wash denim is currently really popular right now, it seems like you can't walk into a store without seeing a grand selection of denim.

However, I would suggest you wear one piece of denim at a time because too much may look like you just came back from the 90's. But if you do insist on wearing more then one piece of denim make sure that they are both of a different wash. An easy way to wear denim is to layer a denim vest or jacket over a cute dress. Also pairing a denim skater skirt or cutoff shorts with a cute top would be a nice choice, especially on those hot days. If you aren't into the whole denim craze but still want to look trendy then just wear something in a light blue color then you are set for Spring!

Graze Box #6

This is my six box and actually I've stopped receiving Graze boxes a few weeks ago because my boxes were getting to me late and the snacks were starting to repeat (which I don't mind) but I wanted to try out more new things. But I think I'm going to start it up again.

Scrumptious Blueberry Swirl

This was the only snack that was new and I actually enjoyed. I love yogurt especially if something is covered in yogurt so I was pretty excited to try this! The blueberry yogurt covered raisins were amazing! The other dried berries went wonderfully with the yogurt raisins. Loved this!

Korean Chilli Rice Crackers
I have a very low spicy tolerance but I heard many people say that these weren't spicy at all so I was pretty confident until I tried them. At first I thought they weren't that spicy but as I waited for the crackers to disappear in my mouth things got pretty spicy. So anyways I'm not a fan of this snack but if you like spicy food (or can at least handle it) then I think you may like this treat.

Fruity Mango Chutney

I don't actually have a picture to show you of this snack because my younger sister really wanted to try this snack so I'm just going to use the picture they have on the Graze website. I really didn't know what chutney meant before trying this but I thought it was just another fancy word to describe a cracker (because that's what I thought it was). However, I found out later that chutney is, a mixture of fruit or vegetables and spices. Overall this snack in one word was strange. It was spicy and just overall not pleasing. I didn't like this at all and didn't even bother trying the sauce.

Review: Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

I'm currently on the search for the "perfect" facial wipes so if you see a few wipe reviews well now you know why. Up first I have these Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes. Simple makes tons of makeup wipes that I didn't know which one to up so I get ended up going with these because they seemed like the most basic ones. So how did they perform?

What it claims to do: "Our Cleansing Facial Wipes, containing a perfect blend of vitamin goodness and gentle cleanses, refresh and nourish your skin and remove waterproof mascara. Perfect especially for sensitive skin."

Pros:

- Removes makeup

- Removes mascara (even waterproof)

- Smells good

- Wipes feel thick (not cheap like some wipes do)
- Makes you face feel fresh afterwards (not sticky like some wipes)

Cons:

- Dry too soon
- Comes with 25 wipes (I prefer 30)

- Pricey for a set of facial wipes. These costs $6 I usually pay $3-4 for a pack of wipes!

My experience: I only use wipes to take off my makeup so I will only be talking about that I still wash my face afterwards. I've been using these wipes for about a month now and I really like them. However, I didn't like that the pack came with 25 wipes I prefer 30 (or more) because that means I can use a whole pack a month. Another thing I didn't like was that the wipes dried really fast, these wipes aren't too dry nor too wet to begin with but they sure do dry fast, for me anyways.

Would I recommend this to someone? Yes. There not the best wipes I've used but they're still pretty great!

Today I will bee doing the What's in my Bag thing. I've been wanting to do this post for a while but I didn't have that much to show for a while (I don't like carrying bags so I never really know what to carry) but finally I have some interesting things to show! So yeah, lets see what I carry in my bag!

LUSH Eau Roma Water: I like to keep a spray toner with me just in case I need to freshen up my makeup/face when I'm out.

iPhone with Pink Stitch Case: Of course you need your phone! I change my phone case almost every other day. This pink Stitch case is my current favorite!

Alice Cat Card Wallet: Recently I got this card wallet in the mail, I got it from eBay. I mainly use cards but I do have a few dollars squeezed in the side pockets.

Strawberry Scented Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel: To keep my hands clean and sanitized I keep this strawberry scented hand gel that I got from Bath and Body Works.

Ice Breakers Ice Cubes Gum in Bubble Breeze: I saw these at the supermarket the other day and freaked out! I use to chew this gum all the time when I was in middle school and now they are selling them again in tons of flavors! I picked up the bubblegum flavored one but I'm going to try out all the flavors!

EOS Hand Cream in Berry Blossom: When my hands get dry I use this berry scented hand cream. Smells yummy!

Archie's Girls Beauty Powder in Flatter Me: This compact comes in handy when I need a mirror.

Sunglasses from Forever 21: Sunglasses never usually fit in my tiny shoulder bags so I end up carrying them with me.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Twinkle and Melon Mania: I change my lip products depending what I'm using or loving at the moment. These Baby Lips are my current favorites.
