Sail on a classic island sloop and discover the charm of nearby islands, bays and reefs. A popular destination is the Tobago Cays, a group of five small, uninhabited islands surrounded by an extensive horseshoe reef. Without question, this protected marine park is a snorkeling heaven where you can swim with schools of colorful fish and turtles in crystal clear and calm waters.

Sailing Yacht ‘BEAUTY’ sails on private or shared charters with up to six guests and can also pick up or drop off on neighboring islands. The skipper, Jeff, is well known to guests who have visited us before.

Lunches are a special feature as locally caught fish and lobsters are cooked Buccaneer style on a barbecue grill and the rum flows freely. Guests are encouraged to take the helm and help the crew if they wish. .

Other sailing and powerboats are available for day charters in the area. We are also resurrecting an old tradition by hosting the Petit St. Vincent Regatta every year.

The Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival highlights the community’s relationship with the yearly visitation of the whale shark.

The festival’s objective is to bring together government departments, business, industries and community members to strengthen their relationships whilst enhancing the education and celebration of the whale shark and its annual visit to Ningaloo.

In 2012 the Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival is making it’s return to the Exmouth social calender, launching with the gala opening cocktail party and art exhibition on the 25th of May and festivities continuing through to the 27th of May on including a family fun run, Aussie breakfast, float parade, activities throughout the day and entertainment which will continue into the evening. Sunday the 27th is Family Day at Town Beach with plenty of beach games and night-time entertainment. Fire juggling, aerial displays, circus shows and whale shark packages are all part of the festival program. Don’t miss out on this fabulous event!

History

The Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival grew out of a previous annual event, the Aqua Fest. Originally created under the auspice of the Exmouth Chamber of Commerce & Industry, but because of the size and future aspirations it was found necessary to create the Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival Incorporated, a completely separate and autonomous body which has undertaken the organisation not only of the growing Whaleshark Festival each May, but also two Street Parties during the year providing entertainment and as fund-raisers for the annual Whaleshark Festival.

Through extensive and ongoing research the Ningaloo Reef regional communities are aware of the perilous situation in world terms, that the Whale Shark, this gentle creature of the ocean is in, as it still remains a source of food and is cruelly hunted in some countries. TheWhaleshark Festival aims to create awareness of the extinction date facing the Whale Sharks and educate the public on the value they add to our lives. Through the preservation and conservation of these creatures and the Ningaloo Reef environment, we can all experience something so unique and ultimately ”make a friend for life” .

Another boat accident due to human error: The Maverick Dos fast ferry ran aground in the Balearic Islands last night at 7.55pm as it transported 21 passengers from Ibiza to Formentera. Captain Luis Gascón made sure all of his passengers and six crew members were evacuated to safety by coastguards before he would leave the ferry himself.

Ibiza Harbour Master has launched an investigation into the Maverick Dos accident and says that human error is likely to be to blame for the grounding. The 39metre long vessel can carry up to 356 people and travel up to 30 knots.

Experts consulted by the Spanish El Mundo newspaper claim the incident could be down to the person driving the boat going too fast. The Maverick Dos ferry ran aground in a sensitive and protected area, known as the Island of Sa Torreta.

Coastguards rescued everyone on board and they were taken to Formentera – arriving at the Sabina port at 11.30pm.

Baleária, the company that owns the Maverick Dos, is now working on the decontamination and refloating of the ferry.

IFAW’s Marine Mammal Rescue team has been braving the freezing temperatures, frigid wind, and thick mud to rescue as many dolphins as possible.

I’d like to share with you this video of one such rescue – the very young dolphin featured touched the hearts of the rescuers. The video shows, from a rescuer’s viewpoint, the moment that she swam away back into the open ocean.

Those moments alone make this strenuous work worth it for our dedicated team and volunteers. But so many challenging rescues, in such a short time, have put a terrible strain on our rescue team and on their lifesaving equipment.

IFAW needs your help now, your emergency donation to help rescue dolphins and other animals will save animal lives.

Please help today by visiting the IFAW Website and making a donation. With your help, IFAW will give these dolphins a second chance

Your gift represents a vital contribution to IFAW’s entire mission of saving the world’s animals from cruelty and exploitation and will be used where most needed to help ease their suffering.
Worried about Donating online?
I used to be too… so I made sure our online system is safe, secure, and state-of-the-art. It also eliminates cheque-processing costs, so more money goes directly to saving animals. But if you prefer to donate by phone or mail, simply click here for address information.

At the Dubai Marina Yacht Club you have the choice of four separate marina locations to suit individual preferences. Each offering a unique atmosphere, from a European marina quay-side festive feel to that of the most exclusive and private.

Clubhouse marina

The centrepiece of Dubai Marina, the Club House marina takes pride of place in front of the Yacht Club. The flagship marina of Dubai Marina Yacht Club, Club House is the marina of choice for the discerning yacht owner who desires a high degree of privacy, yet immediate access to the amenities and facilities of the Yacht Club. offering 134 berths from 8m (26′), to 40m (131′).

East Marina

The largest marina of DMYC, it forms the nucleus of Marina Walk, a year-round bustling open air promenade with a large choice of restaurants, cafes and other amenities. As a direct result, the marina is a popular choice for yacht owners who enjoy the lively quay-side atmosphere of European marinas with families, tourists and joggers strolling along the promenade. Also, many residents enjoy the ease of access to their yacht from their apartments and water-side villas located around East marina and one of the 208 berths.

West Bay Marina

Set in the peaceful surrounds of the residential area, offering the best view of the Dubai sunset and thus a good choice for those seeking a setting away from more busy locales. Located at the south entrance to Dubai Marina, it is also walking/golf buggy distance to the Club House marina and thus can make full use of the amenities of the Yacht Club. West Bay enjoys the highest height clearance of all four marinas, and also offers several large berths to 50m (164′) together with three phase power supply for superyachts.

Mall Marina

The most recent addition to the DMYC family of marinas, Mall marina is uniquely located directly in front of Dubai Marina Mall, and offers superb access to the large variety of offerings including restaurants, cafes, Cinemas, Waitrose supermarket and many other retail shops, the lively atmosphere of the strolling promenade, and the Hotel Dubai Marina.
