SCORE: 9/10

Last year, Pixar drilled out Wall-e, a good but Incredibly overrated. Now, they have UP, which is quite possibly the best or second best of the year so far. It’s funny, sad, and adventerous. Action packed towards the end, I just loved this thing so much. Great graphics, the only downside was at times it felt a tad bit slow, but it truly is wonderful. This kicks Terminator 4 out the window, Terminator 4 was nothing compared to this.

Pixar, you have again drilled out another classic, forget Wall-e, UP is possibly the best Pixar film ever made. Hey look, I’m not a huge Pixar film fan, but they almost always make great films. This might actually end up on my updated Best Picture Predictions post soon. I’m telling you, the minute this thing opened, I was captivated by it. So who stood out? Carl was probably my favorite, but I have one clue to who stole the show….”SQUIRREL!” Man this thig at times was truly funny, it’s clear that I loved this, you heard it here, Action bomb says “See it, NOW”. You know, up till now I thought Coraline was the best animated film of the year, as great as that was, it’s sad it’s going to be left in the dust at the Oscars, but Up should not only be in the running for Best animated, but Best Pic.

SCORE: 5/10

Terminator Salvation took a big downhill turn for me when we all found out that Christian Bale went crazy on the set because the Director Of Photography walked infront of the camera, messing up the scene. Then I got more excited, then the reviews came out…and they weren’t pretty. This installment of Terminator was PLENTY of non-stop edge of your seat thrills and action, and it’s a thrillride, but that’s just it. The character devolpment….there is none. It’s just stop and go action and I really wish they would have focused more on the story instead of jumping into what was some very awesome action. The graphics are awesome, and it does give the feel of a post-Judgement Day feeling.

Sam Worthington gives the best performance and steals the show, though Bale does a great job I thought. But there is so much action, at 1 hour and 54 minutes, it feels over two hours, but just. I say see it if you just want a good action flick, but skip it if you want a good devolpment of story and characters. Don’t take it for more than it is- a fun summer action popcorn flick that’s a thrillride.

MY SISTER’S KEEPER

I have never, not even once, seen a trailer THIS lovely. Well put together, sad story, emotional story, just seems really deep. But the trailer alone, dang I’ve never seen anything like it. I would love to see this atleast get nominated. The way the movie looks-it would be a crime not to nominate it.

PUBLIC ENEMIES

At first, the trailer I thought was alright. But it is growing on me, and with Micheal Mann directing, Johnny Depp as the lead, Christian Bale as the supporting(I think), this looks great, Crime drama story, just seems amazing. This, mark my words, should get a nomination, and would probably blow the competition out of the water.

THE ROAD

What a trailer!!! Thrilling, edge of your seat, and from the same author as No Country For Old Men, my third favorite film ever!? Yes please! What a trailer that was, should be great.

SHUTTER ISLAND

Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Kingsley acting, Martin Scorsese directing, all of these equals best pic nomination. With Dicaprio being quite possibly one of the best actors today, Scorsese, who is in my opinon the BEST director today, this would be horrible if it were not nominated.

AMELIA

A film about Amelia Earhart, if you’re American and don’t know who that is I’m seriously worried about you. This screams Best Pic nom.

You know, I find it funny, I know for a fact that 3 out of the 5 films predicted were books. So many good, great possibilities here. Here is my prediction:

FILM THAT SHOULD WIN: MY SISTER’S KEEPER

FILM THAT WILL WIN: SHUTTER ISLAND (Slightly over Public enemies)

But, don’t be suprised if The Road gets a lot of buzz, and posibly nails it, I won’t be.

Half way there, already can’t wait. Thanks for reading.

The greatest movie ever made, in popular opinion. Well, I think so too. It’s got a wonderful script, it’s powerful, smart, and without question the BEST ending to a movie EVER. (Spoiler, if you haven’t seen it) It was great how Morgan Freeman reunited with Tim robbins at the end, and it basically ends like that. The greatest movie EVER. PERIOD.

2. PSYCHO

It shocked the world, it is probably the most classical horror film of all time. (honor mention: The Omen, The Exorcist, The Shining) Even though there is one death, it is very shocking, and smart, leaves you guessing the whole time, a great ending, one of the best movies ever. Why can’t modern horror be more like this?

3. NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

It’s great, very great. Bloody, smart, edge of your seat, the killer: always one step ahead. Joel and Ethan Cohen really made a masterpiece here, I tried to find a mistake with it, and couldn’t find a thing wrong. Josh Brolin did a wonderful acting job. It deserved all it got, especially best picture.

4. APOLLO 13

Tom Hanks. Kevin Bacon. With too many more great actors too mention in this, it can’t go wrong. Oh, and the fact that it was directed by Ron Howard, a great director, made it all the more great. A thrilling film at times, it’s one of the greatest ever made, period.

5. GLADIATOR

Any film with Russel Crowe is going to be good. He, in my opinion, is the second best actor today, right behind Sean penn. This film had it all, great action, but probably the third best ending in movie history.

This is Action Bomb’s review of the new Hugh Jackman film “X Men Origins: Wolverine” and the newest installment in the X Men franchise.

Plot from IMDB: Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program.

That’s not the most accurate plot, but it’s close. Ever since the first trailer came out, most have said how aweosme they think this film will be, but I didn’t think so, it just didn’t wow me at all.

THE GOOD

The action in the film is fantastic! The graphics are wonderful, and there’s a fight towards the end involving Deadpool and Wolverine that I really enjoyed. The bond between Wolverine and his brother, in the beginning, is great, even at the end. Some good dialogue, also stay after the credits, because a great line is delivered by Wolverine in a bar that most people will miss because they left too early. Like I said, great great action, and overall a good story to follow. There is an awesome scene, possibly my favorite, involving Wolverine jumping on top of a helicopter from a Hum-V (You saw it in the trailer). But it wasn’t just that, it was the chase in the forest leading up to that.

THE BAD

Here lies the problem. Wolverine took WAY too long to get going. Sure there’s a few decent war scenes and explosions and chases, but I’m talking about the big fight, and it took way too long to get there. (POSSIBLE MINOR SPOILER) I wasn’t at all thrileld with the “Secret Island” thing, I’ll leave it at that so I don’t spoil it too much. Something that happened in the ending I didn’t like, but I can’t say what it was. They almost, ALMOST wasted Gambit, but luckily he was put to good use, however he could’ve been in there a lot more. Some action scenes I thought were cheesy. Also, Kayla’s (wolverine’s girlfriend) sister was VERY wasted (She’s the girl that can turn her skin to diamond) She was in there for like one scene, what a waste. Also, the whole thing with showing Wolverine and his brother in the war was cool, but didn’t need to be in there in my opinion. No one will agree with me on this, but the main villain, the general, I thought was somewhat wasted.

Overall, X Men Origins: Wolverine is NOT the trainwreck I expected, and I’m glad about that, but it isn’t great either, it’s somewhere in between good and alright. Great action, good story, (one cool moment at the end I forgot to mention). Even though a few characters wasted, and it took way to long for the big fight scene to come, I did end up liking X Men Origins. I’ll most likely give it a second chance to see if my thoughts on it change.

I give X Men Origins a 6 out of 10.

NOTE: I’m sure all of you know, this movie was leaked online before it’s release. Since the release hasn’t come yet, I felt the need to say that this review was NOT based of an illegal copy.

Paul Rudd did great, Jason Segel did a great job too, I think for me though Jason completely stole the show. Let’s be honest, if a comedy makes you laugh, it’s done it’s job. This really did make me laugh. a solid script, just all around great. One thing tht dd sort of annoy me though is that I didn’t laugh as much as I thought I would, though it is very funny in the right spots and makes up for it. It really is great, maybe the best comedy of the year so far, it’s also a feel good comedy.

All in all, “I Love You, Man” is flat out hilarous, Jason Segel steals the show, wasn’t as funny of a film that I thought, but it’s is so hilarous. I give “I Love You, Man” a 7.5 out of 10

For anyone wondering, yes I spelled “bastards” wrong, but it’s spelled like that in the script/film. OK, the last time we saw Tarantino, he was working with Robert Rodriguez on “Grindhouse” in 2007. So, now he has written and directed “Inglorious Basterds” which comes out in august I think. So, what did I think about the script? A masterpiece!! Smart, action packed in some areas, and amazing. Now I did say action packed, but it’s not really, but then again in some areas it is. Very graphic, bloody, tons of profanity, what more could you expect from a Tarantino film. I was amazed by the awesome dialogue, I think it’s obvious I flat out loved it. It’s actually quite comical and funny in some parts. They have French and German and some other languages actually spoken and subtitled in English. I am pretty sure there’s a part in the script where Tarantino says that partof the script will be filmed in black and white. Sounds interesting enough. But it’s long, I’m not complaining, I am glad it’s that long, at roughly a 2 hour and 40 something minute script, it is never boring, never a dull moment. From right off the bat it captivates you. Your kind of rooting for two sides here, actually there’s like 3 back stories, two of them you want to win, do they? Well, you’ll just have to wait to see. I can’t wait till it comes out. Easily one of the best scripts ever for me, the script is better than Watchmen, if the movie is as good as the script, it will be too. Amazing, just flat out a work of genius.

Overall, I give Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds script a PERFECT 10/10. I don’t think I have ever done that before. Seriously, this might end up being the best film of 2009, if it follows the genius script.

I do plan to see it again, in theaters or not. I hear the second time some people saw it they had a different opinion, well I’d love to see it again, and see if I love it or hate it. However, Watchmen had 55 M last weekend, and an early estimate this weekend of 17 M, pushing the film to a dissapointing 84 M domestic gross, and about 110 overall, so I do not see it getting the whole 150 M dollar budget back. But yeah, just kind of an update that I do plan to see Snyder’s wonderful and epic “Watchmen” again, we will see if I come out with a different opinion…

Yes, yes it was. (Possible spoilers, but only minor, you have been warned) I did enjoy it, didn’t really know what to expect, but it’s nothing epic. Basically, the main character Mari, played by Sara Paxton, goes to meet her friend in town, long story short, she and her friend get beat up (Beat up is an understatement) by people, Mari is left to die, and the people who beat them up go to a house for shelter. Little do they know, the house is where Mari’s parents live, they find out, and they won’tlet the people leave until they get them back for what they did to Mari.

I will say this might be the most bloody film of 2009. Filled, FILLED with gore, a brutal rape scene, tons of acttion, intense scenes, including a scene where one character’s head explodes in a mircowave. Very bloody and intense, but nothing epic. I guess the reason I enjoyed it is because most horror films now are, well, horrible. Some of the bad stuff It takes time getting going, but not really a long time.

The Last House On The Left is great, filled with blood, guts, and voilence, I give this remake a 6 out of 1o.

Well guys, I just saw Watchmen a few hours ago, and what did I think? Well, it rocked and lived FAR above the hype, it was better than I thought, Snyder made one freaking awesome film. Now, the beginning credits are interesting, with the song “The Times they Are-A-Changin”, which I knew was going to open the film but the opening credits were odd, in a good way. Then, comes the Comedians death, and it’s a pretty voilent scene, bloody, awesome. The performances of the film was EXACTLY like I thought, Malin Ackerman didn’t do well, Matthew Good did better than i thought, passable, but not well. Who stole the show? Dang that’s hard, I mean that is really hard. Patrick Wilson did a wonderful job, such a great job, wow he was awesome. Billy (what’s his last name?) as Dr. Manhattan did really well, Jackie Earle Haley as Rorscach, Fantastic! Wonderful, mind blowing performance. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, though not in the film much, was fantastic, he really embodies The Comdeian/Eddie Blake. Well, who did I like the most?as well as Jackie did, I think for me Jeffrey Dean Morgan stole the show.

The gore was full blown! Extremely gory, bloody, gritty, and voilent, Watchmen holds nothing back. There is tons of nudtiy in this too, and probably 18 F words or so, so not a kids film. It was long, but I read the comic so I was expecting that, I think they could have cut out one minute or so, maybe more, because I was getting tired of sitting. Now, for my favorite scene of the novel, AND the movie, Manhattan on Mars, amazing. The graphics and visuals are SO amazing. There was more sex than in the novel, but about the same as 300 but maybe a little more. Just amazing, but they also made the villian way too obvious like HALF WAY THROUGH! They could have gone with that a tad bit better, but it was awesome how it all turned out. Also, the action is great, it feels like more than is really there. By the Way, they didn’t overuse the slow-mo, in fact, it was underused, and used in all of the right places.

All in all, Watchmen is a great film, like the novel, it’s mind blowing, the visuals are amazing, acting incredible though some weaknesses, Watchmen is voilent, gritty, dirty, bloody, gory, action packed in some areas.

I give Watchmen a 9 out of 10
