I finished the Shellseeker sweater last night and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's slouchy and comfortable–perfect for lounging around. The neckline is unfinished and I may just add some ribbing to combat the rolling that is happening. The kangaroo pocket is ingenious!

On a trip to NE Alberta street yesterday afternoon, I stopped in at Close Knit and Bolt. After much searching at the yarn store, I finally decided on this charcoal grey and lime green for the Shellseeker pullover by Heidi Kirrmaier. I popped over to Bolt to browse at fabrics (it's next door to the yarn shop) and found this sheer silk print from Anna Sui. Not sure exactly what I will make, but I loved the print and had to get it. I'm thinking I'll sew up an easy and quick dolman-sleeved tunic.

I finished this dress yesterday afternoon. The pattern is from this Machiko Kayaki book, which I picked up at Kinokunya recently. I was so excited to sew this project up because I found the perfect fabric for it when I stopped in at Bolt last week. This Alexander Wang cotton/linen blend is a super soft denim-like material that feels like a thick flannel. I love the inky blue color and the cross-hatched texture. I made some minor modifications to the pattern. I used the medium sized pattern, but did not add any seam allowance to the sides because of the wide A-line style.In fact, I ended up taking in about two inches. The sleeve cuffs had notches that I omitted because they were too difficult to sew. I added some fun details like the red polka dot bias tape on the neckline and the Liberty (Sydenham Place) pockets. I absolutely love how this dress turned out and can't wait to wear it.

This silk is one of the prints from Mood that I picked up form the Fabric Depot outdoor sale a while back. I only had a yard of it, so I decided to make a simple pullover blouse from one of my Japanese pattern books. I didn't have enough fabric to make the neckline trim, so I just used some contrasting neon pink silk that I had in my stash. There are a short row of gathers on the front and the back and simple dolman-style sleeves. It was a super quick project and I love it!

It turned into a rainy afternoon, all the better for hunkering down and doing some knitting. I manged to finish up the cape and decided to steam block it. The only modification I made to the cape was to increase the length. It is surprisingly warm and the hood is fabulous. The cable pattern was challenging enough to hold my interest, but also easy to somewhat memorize. I bought five skeins of Cascase 200 for this pattern and ended up only using four. This was a fun project!

Here's a top I made over the weekend using another pattern from this unnamed Japanese pattern book. I got the Moda Preppy Plaid on sale at Fabric Depot. It's a flannel, but I used the wrong side for the self fabric. I really like the wide collar and the raglan style sleeves. There was the option of adding gathers to the front neckline, but I omitted them since the shape is already pretty voluminous. I think this blouse will look cute with some skinny jeans and boots.

Here's another dress I sewed up this weekend. It's a simple one-piece shift from an unnamed Japanese pattern book. I used a floral cotton lawn from Moda that I had in my stash and was originally for a Cynthia Rowley dress I never got around to making. I modified the pattern a litlle bit: no sailor collar, shorter sleeves, and taken in on the side seams. This will be the perfect dress for spring and summer, but I can wear it with sweaters and tights now.

It was a cold and rainy day, so I spent most of the morning and afternoon sewing up this top. The fabric is Nano Iro double gauze that I bought at the Bolt sale and the pattern is from a new-to-me Nani Iro pattern book that I picked up at Kinokuniya a couple of weekends ago. The top has dolman sleeves that are identical to the ones on the printed dress I just made. I'm not usually into such loose fitting tops, but I loved the pockets and I wanted to sew with double gauze, which I hadn't done before. It's a comfy and cozy pullover!

I love how this nooy dress turned out! Originally, I was planning on using the Fieldwork fabric for the entire dress. I wanted the triangle print on the bodice going horizontally and the print on the skirt going vertically. But after going to the Bolt sale over the weekend and picking up more fabric from Ten14 Textiles, I had another idea. I used the Bricklayer fabric for the bodice and the Fieldwork fabric for the skirt. I love the light and dark contrast between the two prints and think they complement the simple style of the dress. I can't wait to wear it!
