By: Roseanna Leaton
Category: Success

Do you feel that you lack in imagination or simply cannot seem to get your imagination working as you might wish? It's frustrating when a peer points out that face that you have to imagine something before it can come to fruition (and you know this to be true) and yet you just cannot seem to imagine that which you want.

You know that you want to imagine that eventuality in full Technicolor and yet try as you might you just see a blank space in front of you. Or at least that’s how it seems to you. Does this mean that you have no ability to imagine or does it instead infer that you haven't yet learned how to go about this task?

For some people their ability to imagine seems as natural and instinctive as it is to breathe. But this is not the case for everyone. Developing your imagination can take for many the same effort as in learning another seemingly unnatural skill. But the process of learning a new skill can be made far easier when you set about it the right way.

It is important to reassure yourself that everyone does indeed have the ability to visualize and to imagine eventualities. Most often, when you think that you cannot visualize, it is not that you cannot visualize at all; it is instead the case that you cannot visualize the things that you would like to see.

The second thing that you probably need some reassurance for is that even if visualizing does not seem to come naturally to you, you can learn to do this in a few easy steps. It’s best to start with simple things and work from there. Don't try to run before you can walk.

For example, if you were asked to describe an apple how could you even attempt a reply without a vision of an apple inadvertently popping into your mind? What do you see when asked not to think about an orange?

What happens when asked to imagine a lemon tree, your arm reaching to pick one of it's fruit and then cutting it with a knife, seeing it's juice running onto a white plate? And then biting into a slice of that juicy, sour, bitter lemon?

Did you salivate then as you read that last sentence? Your imagination will inevitably have been triggered and employed whilst reading this last couple of short paragraphs. Hopefully that will have proven to you that you do in fact have a good working imagination.

If you would like to improve upon your ability to visualize and to readily see the things that you would like to in your mind's eye, hypnosis provides an effective gateway to your imagination. Hypnosis allows you to access the creative part of your mind and to guide your imagination more efficiently.

Hypnosis also allows you to build greater belief in yourself and your ability to achieve your goals as you can embed positive and powerful suggestions in your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is the part that acts automatically and instinctively, without trying.

By: Roseanna Leaton
Category: Inspirational

Dreams can easily be interpreted if you really wish to put your mind to this task. Dreams can tell you a lot about ongoing not quite conscious emotional challenges and musings. As you dream your mind is working through things that have recently come into your attention and awareness and fitting them into the pool of knowledge already stored within your mind.

Your dreaming mind is putting together intellectual and emotional impulses and creating a true meeting of the minds. The emotional, feeling and imagination focused part meets and mingles with the logical and factual part of the mind. Unconscious and conscious thoughts come together in your dreams.

The dream itself can be seen as an expression of the mind attempting to resolve conflicts, be they things that you are only too well aware of or others which are seemingly well hidden. The easiest way in which to interpret your dream is to seek out the feeling that has been solicited and then cast your mind back to whence in the last couple of days you might have been aware of that same feeling. The actual facts of the dream rarely provide as many clues as that given by the emotional impact.

By seeking to find the emotional impact of your dreams you can use your dreams more intelligently. They will provide clues to the emotions that you are perhaps hiding from yourself or not quite at one with. Once faced, those emotions will become easy to confront and deal with.

We often hide things from ourselves. We turn a blind eye, a deaf ear and also sweep things under the carpet. We turn our backs towards things that we do not like. In many cases this ability to look the other way, or to turn the other cheek, is extremely helpful and beneficial. Sometimes though by hiding we can dig ourselves a little too deep into an inappropriate hiding hole.

When you have a recurring theme to your dreams or a recurring emotion is experienced, this is the time to really take a look at your dreams. Clearly, your dreams are telling you that thee is some sort of conflict that hasn’t gone away and doesn’t want to go away. Ask yourself what is causing you to feel that emotion. What might be triggering that feeling?

What can you do to change it or make things feel a little better? You will frequently find that the big issue is that you haven’t yet accepted the truth or inevitability of a certain situation. Once you really think about it and make the decision to accept whatever it is, then you will no longer experience this conflict within your dreams.

If you have trouble accepting something then hypnosis can be a great help. Hypnosis is similar to dreaming in that it allows access to your subconscious mind. Hypnosis allows you to more easily use your imagination too. With hypnosis you can take a step back, relax and begin to see things from a different angle.

By: Roseanna Leaton
Category: Relationships

Emotional baggage can reach a great weight or even enter the category of emotional garbage. If you are suffering beneath the burden of negative emotions, you will realize that it is not only important but it is in fact essential for your well-being to find a way in which to offload. A trip to the dump would appear to be overdue.

When you are plagued by bad memories, bad feelings or guilty emotions you just want to forget them. You want to sling them away and wipe them clean from your mind. You just do not want them hanging around disturbing your happiness and equilibrium. You know that this is what you want but you also realize that this ideal is impossible. You cannot just tip that garbage into the dump and walk away with a mind that is devoid of such memories. Your mind won't let you do that, no matter how much you would like it to. You cannot wipe those memories away.

But when you really think about it if you reframe your goal slightly you can actually achieve what is at the crux of your desires. Rather then blocking out those memories, what you really want is to stop the bad feelings associated with these memories. You simply want to stop feeling bad. And so instead of trying to tip that stubborn and uncomfortable emotional garbage into the dump, you need to take it in for re-cycling.

What is needed it to be able to take a step back and change that instinctive emotional reaction which has until now been overloading your senses and leeching your energy and spirit. Hypnosis is a great way of gaining access to your automatic memory store and related instinctive behavioral responses. In fact there is a strong body of medical research that supports its use in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I am using the example of PTSD here, as this is arguably the most intensely experienced form of negative emotional reaction relating to past events and circumstances. Most people who wish to let go of emotional baggage experience a lower degree of impact.

For example, you might want to get over a broken relationship and stop thinking about your ex. You might want to stop thinking about a situation at work that has upset you. There are many variations of emotional overload that you might be experiencing. The thing to remember is that hypnosis is a very useful tool in taking a step back and seeing things from a different angle and being able to dissociate from the emotions that used to swamp you.

Hypnosis is easy to use and quick to work. Most people don't really consider hypnosis, as they do not know enough about it. But one you look into the medical research that has been complied showing its efficacy you soon realize that it is an extremely effective treatment for many emotional issues.

By: Roseanna Leaton
Category: Stress Management

Times of recession often lead to times of depression. They even get called periods of depression, like the Great Depression that began in America with the Wall Street Crash in 1929. But depressed spirits are exactly what you cannot afford to entertain at such a time. You desperately need to have a positive attitude so as to be able to put up a fight.

Money worries can run away with you, if you allow them to do so, and lead to many health issues, ranging from depression to anxiety, stress and even to suicide. It is vitally important to be able to alter your focus, change your attitude and lift your spirits when facing such tough times.

And tough times are certainly here in the Western World now, in 2011. We are bombard with facts relating to financial woes. Whole States and countries are in massive debt positions, currencies are being devalued and for many individuals this means that everything that they have worked for is collapsing around them. Their societal structure is in ruins.

Employees are accepting pay cuts instead of receiving pay rises and bonuses. There are no jobs to be had for the willing students who seek part time employment. Full time jobs are harder to obtain no matter what your level of qualification is. You potential are in a position of negative equity over home and investments. It's hard to know what to do or how to respond and climb out of such a widespread problem.

But even so, to allow this worry to impact upon your health only makes matters worse. Inevitably the more cautious natured person, those who are inherently careful and more prone to worry and anxiety, are affected the most. The more devil-may-care people respond more favorably and find it easier to remain hopeful and turn the situation into a kind of exciting challenge.

Everyone becomes impacted in one way or another. The big question is what can you do to preserve your equilibrium in other ways and maintain good health?

What some people do automatically is "switch off" their worries. They have the ability to compartmentalize things within their mind. Everyone can learn to do this and hypnosis makes this more easily achievable.

Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation that you can use to relieve worries, soothe anxieties and switch off from fears. You can listen to a hypnosis mp3 to relax easily and to build more of a positive expectation and lift your spirits in general. In this way you can guard against the cycle of negative health issues that can be caused by unchecked worries.

This might not seem very much in the way of assistance in such circumstances. But your attitude paves the way to your reality. In a situation that appears very much like a "sink or swim" scenario, hypnosis could be just the thing that keeps you afloat.

By: Liz Canham
Category: Marriage

If you're having a traditional wedding with all the bells and whistles, then you'll want to get everything just right. In the planning phase, one thing which is often overlooked is the wedding toast etiquette for the head table so here is the traditionally perceived wedding toast etiquette.

Obviously, you may not want to have too many toasts and speeches but if you want the full nine yards, this is the order in which they should occur.

•	The father of the bride will start the proceedings by introducing himself and welcoming the guests. He will go on to thank anyone who has helped to organise the wedding then he will talk about his daughter and probably embarrass her by recounting stories of her childhood. He will welcome the groom to his family and then will toast the bride and groom, although traditionally it was the bride who received the toast on her special day.
•	The groom responds to the father of the bride's toast, usually complementing his new in-laws on their lovely daughter. The groom will re-iterate any thanks necessary to people who helped to organise the wedding and to the guests for turning up, particularly if they've had to travel a long way. It is normal for the groom to tell his hew bride how wonderful she looks and how happy she has made him. He then toasts the bridesmaids and takes his only opportunity to thank his best man and perhaps get in first with a funny story.
•	If the bride is to make a speech then now is the time, otherwise the groom should have spoken on her behalf.
•	Now to the best man who will thank the groom on behalf of the bridesmaids. He will chat about the couple and will usually come up with some amusing anecdotes about the groom. If he knows the bride very well she will probably be the butt of a couple of digs too. The groom continues by reading cards (in the old days it was telegrams) from people who were unable to be present and he finishes by toasting the newly weds.

These days, all sorts of people want to get involved in the speeches, parents from both sides and sometimes even the maid of honour. If this is the case, they should speak after the bride if she is making a speech or if not, after the groom.

If there are to be a lot of speeches and toasts, it may be as well to split them up between courses or your guests will be starving before the wedding breakfast is served.

Finally, speeches shouldn't be too long, the speaker should still be sober and the jokes should not be too risqué, particularly if there are elderly members of the family present.

For more help with wedding toast etiquette and with wedding speech writing, visit Liz Canham's website, Bride Wedding Speech.

Publish this article: Wedding Toast Etiquette For the Head Table

By: Roseanna Leaton
Category: Meditation

When you have a conversation about hypnosis there are several standard reactions that the average person displays. Most frequently hypnosis is either automatically classed as something like the occult, a kind of voodoo thing, or quite simply a put up job, an illusion like magic. A secondary string of thought tends towards the "you couldn't hypnotize me" variety.

Despite the fact that so many people don't think there is any real truth in the phenomenon of hypnosis, these same people rarely offer to become a subject. A little trepidation is usually in evidence, just in case hypnosis really is real and they could inadvertently fall beneath the hypnotist's threatening spell.

There are in fact many misconceptions about hypnosis, relating to whether it does really happen, what it is and what you can do with it. Hypnosis is a normal and natural state of mind that is far from being threatening. Hypnosis is in fact a particularly enabling state, providing it's user with the ability to overcome obstacles to their focus, behavior and emotional well being.

As is true with all forms of therapeutic intervention, the more motivated user inevitably achieves a greater degree of success. If you really want to achieve something you are more likely to apply an open and willing mind.

One way in which a person can overcome their trepidation about hypnosis is to use a hypnosis recording whilst remaining safely within the secure walls of their own home. There's no risk of giving away your deepest and darkest secrets here! Not that this would ever happen, if you didn't want it to, that is. There’s also no fear of being manipulated or controlled, if that happens to be your fear.

Yet other people have a different fear. Some people worry that a recording just couldn't possibly work. They want to go deep. Their fear is not of hypnosis. Rather, their fear is that it might not work for them. But a recording has been scientifically proven to be just as effective as a live induction in a Meta study carried out at the Mount Sinai school of medicine.

By: Roseanna Leaton
Category: Stress Management

The sight and sound of water is most often associated with feelings of tranquility and peacefulness. Most of us love to sit and watch the gentle ripple of waves on the ocean or the shimmering of light upon water. Similarly the sound of water in a stream tends to have a soothing effect.

Even the sight of towering waves in a storm are generally found to be exciting, providing of course they are viewed from a safe distance. We can spend endless hours in fascinated contemplation of water, enjoying its movement and fluidity. We love to see the range of colors and patterns which water has the ability to reflect in different lights and perspectives.

And when presented with a scorching hot day the thought of taking a cool dip in water is something that is indescribably delicious. Even a person who is afraid of swimming can find the idea of a cool dip extremely appealing. It's just the reality which somehow makes that person’s skin prickle, their stomach churn and keeps them rooted to their spot at the waters edge, or beating a swift retreat in the opposite direction.

Where does that kind of fear come from? For a person who has never been afraid of swimming it's hard to comprehend such fear. But for one who is afraid of getting in the water that fear is both debilitating and annoying. It is totally frustrating.

You know that the human body naturally floats. You know logically that it's pretty difficult to sink. You know you should be able to let go of the edge and that it’s ok to put your face in the water. Yet despite this knowledge, fear has a vice like grip upon your emotions that just won't let you take that risk.

Fear of swimming for many people is something that they choose to live with instead of to confront. But there comes a time in your life when you make up your mind to face your fears and conquer them. It's only once you make that decision that you really begin to look around to see what help might be available.

Then you start to ask yourself where your fear came from. Some people can remember a bad experience with water and can identify that root cause of their fear. Others cannot recall any such event. But even if you can recall a frightening experience, you do still know that there is no reason to be afraid now. So you know that your instinctive emotional reaction is somehow propelled by something other than pure logic.

When you suffer from a fear that is not quite logical, and it just appears instinctively, you know that your subconscious mind is driving your reaction. Thus if you wish to overcome this type of fear you must find a way to break into this subconscious cycle of reaction. Hypnosis allows you to do just this.

With hypnosis you can access your subconscious thoughts and emotions. You can also re-pattern those thoughts and change your instinctive response and expectations. Hypnosis can be effectively used to overcome fear of swimming.
