The spring weather is back and I am excited to put away the denim and start wearing dresses and skirts! Skirts are always in style and this season they want to make a bold statement! Skirts are hitting the runways and retail stores in full color and patterns! Set aside those denim skirts and add color to your wardrobe! (I know I will!) Billabong, Hurley, and RVCA have designed many different skirts this season to give us girls a reason to show off our legs. Billabong has designed a whole line of skirts to show off this season’s trend of Bohemian style. Whether the skirts are long, short, artistic, or high waisted they are always easy to style. We can blame it on the hot weather, but skirts are definitely a must have this season. Of course, Active will be a part of this fashion trend! Check out an Active near you this upcoming season to check out the new product we will be receiving. Trust me the new RVCA skirt is a must have!

The Krochet Kids-making a difference!

It is so inspiring when a group of young people comes together to help make a difference in the world. Krochet Kids International is a non-profit group committed to “empowering people to rise above poverty”. They are an amazing organization that provides support to a local group of ten women in Uganda who crochet products to be sold here in the United States. All proceeds from the collection go back to helping the communities in Uganda from which the products came. Krochet Kids is doing their part to bring hope to those less fortunate by fighting poverty around the world. Check out their website, krochetkids.org, for more information on this incredible organization and how you can get involved, and while you’re there, pick up a beanie or two!

Futures Am Series coming to SoCal!

High School boys and girls throughout SoCal put together their own teams to represent their school and compete against other High Schools to see who holds it down for SoCal. The romper is back, and better than ever! What we once thought only acceptable for children under the age of 7 is now flooding the runways of high fashion. And, this spring the brands that we love like Insight and Roxy are getting in on the action, adding rompers to their collection at prices we love! I know we can all be a bit skeptical when revisiting fashion styles from our youth, but trust me if you give the romper a chance (like I did!) you will realize with the right accessories how great and grown up they can be. And, with the lovely spring weather and summer right around the corner, no wardrobe is complete without one!

If you haven’t checked out Yobeat.com, then you take snowboarding too seriously or haven’t been on the internet since 1997. For some humorous trash talking, look through their archives.

They recently started a new series called “Fight Club”. I don’t know if I should feel honored, or bummed that I was part of the first one. They decided to put me up against one of my best friends, Sean Tedore.

For those of you who don’t know who Sean is, he was sponsored when Forum Snowboards first came out. He also was in the first Neoproto film, putting out a great part despite being held back because of his first of numerous knee injuries. He eventually had so many, that he retired from professional snowboarding and used his mechanical engineering degree to take the K2 Snowboarding snowboard designer job. He’s been doing that for a few years now, creating the “Believer” and other top selling K2 boards. You can find him in Seattle hanging out with Peter Line, or on myspace or something.

Insight Garage Artists Art Show Photos

The Garage Artists art show happened this past Friday April 3rd at the GoRilla art gallery in Santa Ana. There were hundreds of people in and out of the gallery throughout the night. The Tijuana Panthers played a set in the garage of the gallery and it went off. The art that adorned the walls was from over 25 different artists from all over the country and it was eclectic to say the least. Check out the photos from the wild night.

20 Years in the books!!

Active Celebrates it’s 20th year with four parties, one in each coutny in Southern California! Things kicked off at the Cantina Lounge in Fullerton. Then a gathering at Omaha Jack’s in Rancho. The amazing Fai Do Do LA played host for the LA stop and we finished big with the ever popular Bondi Bar in downtown San Diego! Thanks to the Antics/Toyota Matrix crew for throwing down the hefty bar tab, RED BULL for all the RED BULL VODKA, Comune for the insanely early release gear and all of the bars for showing love!

The tour featured the musical talents of Hen Heart and our main man Wes Rogers. The boys brought the girls out to shake their booties on the floor and Wes broke a few hearts.

Huge shouts go to John and Shane for starting something that has touched alot of people’s lives in a very positive way over the years! Thanks to Active Erica, all of the homies, Button, and the Rosemead crew for everything!! ACTIVE!

Irvine Spectrum was host to one of my now favorite bands Janu and the Whalesharks. These kids have talent and a sound that never gets one. Much respect and I can’t wait to see them again. Check them out on MySpace or Google em! Oh yeah, the place was packed!!
