I actually think it could be tighter. The list of things the meal comes with goes on a little too long, and I think the ladies reaction could be funnier. It's quite funny though and you remember the brand, if not the featured product.

Why is it that my favorite commercials are all for cellphone companies?

I think cellphone companies don't have much to differentiate themselves from their competitors. Once you've got a working phone you're done. These companies have to keep showing memorable ads for new products to retain and convert consumers.

This commercial is funny only because Dyson bought 30 seconds of airtime to talk about this new public restroom hand-drying apparatus.

I guess you're building the brand as an innovation brand, but it's such a delightfully boring thing to talk about.

I guess if they got some luxury skyscraper bathroom contract out of this it would pay off.

This is one of my favorite commercials running right now. Great beat, great lyrics, uses the classic "push to talk" sound during the song and closes with their "where you at" catch phrase. Every time it comes on I stop what I'm doing and watch.

The first few times I saw this I figured the third guy must have been some contest winner or something. Turns out he's actually an LA rapper named Mickey Avalon.

He need to fire whoever did clothes and makeup for him, because he looks mega-androgynous.

One of these kids is not like the others.

I saw this commercial when I was in Japan this spring. You thought they packed a lot of crap into Pizza Hut pizzas in America? We are rookies compared to Japan.

Just in case you're wondering, there is bacon underneath those cocktail sausages embedded in the crust.

Segata Sanshiro Japanese Saturn Commercials

This is a series of Japanese Sega Saturn commercials starring a character named Segata Sanshiro.

These commercials are hilarious by themselves, but for Japanese natives they work on a couple other levels: First the actor was the star of an old action-adventure show, Kamen Rider. Second the name of the character is similar to Akira Kurosawa's first movie Sugata Sanshiro, about a person mastering Judo. Third Segata Sanshiro sounds like "Sega Saturn shiro!" which kinda translates as "Play Sega Saturn!"

You don't even know it's a videogame commercial until 10 seconds in. Up until that point it seems like it could be a Girls Gone Wild promo.

Sony PS3 Commercial

This is the first PS3 commercial I think will actually sell boxes. When the music comes on it's interesting enough the it turns my head from surfing. The visuals are top notch, and shows actual gameplay.

Amusingly, around the time these commercials started airing Sony ditched this ad agency for someone new.

This must have cost a fortune.

The product name does stick in my mind though, just because it's so conversation haltingly strange.
