The foliage was amazing (Sunday even better than Saturday) and the surprise blizzard coming over the top of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park was a nice break from the otherwise 75-and-sunny weather.

Nine times out of ten, it more than meets our needs and we’ve stuck with it this long for three main reasons:

1) The cost of upgrading to a DSLR is pretty substantial.

2) We like the compact size.

3) We’re not sure that we would shoot any better pictures with a better camera. I recently heard someone say something along the lines of “a crappy photographer with an expensive camera is still a crappy photographer.” Not to say that we consider ourselves bad shots, but you get the point.

Even with this puny 5 megapixel under-achiever, I’m still amazed at the detail in the photos that we accidentally capture and don’t notice until they are viewed at their maximum resolution online.

There really is more than meets the eye out there…

After 30 minutes of research on The Google, I decided to build a light-booth in a spare room in our basement that could help me take better shots of both of our projects.

A quick sketch, a trip to Home Depot / Jo-Ann’s Fabric / Mike’s Camera (for a cheap tripod), and a few hours later we had a fully functioning home studio.

Now, if I can just figure out this whole “white balance” thing…

Played a nice round by myself at the Top Of The World course in Lake George last Friday morning while Jennie was tied up with pre-wedding bridesmaid activities.

Situated at less than 1,000 feet of elevation, the “top of the world” claim seemed a bit suspect, especially since we were visiting from Colorado, but they did have a great view. Here’s a shot I snapped from the 10th tee:
