For months the Department for Work and Pensions were insistent that the critics of the Work Capability Assessment – and ATOS in particular –were wrong; the Department instead said the system was gradually improving.

Now, one working day into the Westminster recess, the Department allows a major about turn to slip out. After years of condemnation from campaigners, charities and MPs, the DWP has finally admitted that the quality of some of the ATOS work is so poor that staff are going to have to be retrained and monitored more thoroughly. And, because the problem is endemic ATOS will be losing its monopoly of carrying out these assessments, with other providers picking up the slack.

Had this come out last week my colleagues and I would have been demanding that Iain Duncan Smith come to answer an Urgent Question on the matter in the Commons. But because MPs are on recess back in their constituencies, that hasn't happened.

It turns out that while IDS and his employment minister Mark Hoban were telling MPs that all was well, they had in fact commissioned an urgent audit of ATOS in May because of concerns that an earlier smaller audit had thrown up.

We are now asked to believe that that the problem is only one part the process, not substance.

Minister Hoban now tells us that this doesn't mean that the decisions have been wrong, rather ATOS don't write very good reports on the individuals they are assessing. While the assessment is only part of the process of assessment, it is the DWP's Decision Makers who wield much greater power.

AFRA LAUNCHES NEW BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICE (BMP) GUIDE FOR RECYCLING AIRCRAFT MATERIALS

17 April 2012, Las Vegas – The Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA) is pleased to announce the publication of its new Best Management Practice (BMP) Guide for the recycling of aircraft materials today at the ISRI convention in Las Vegas. The Association also announces the first AFRA Accreditations under the new BMP of ELG Metals (Los Angeles) and Huron Valley Fritz West (Tucson).

The new guide provides practical solutions for all those working in the field of aircraft parts and materials recycling, and the accompanying AFRA audit and accreditation program assures that the facilities operate in a safe and environmentally responsible fashion, while allowing businesses to find sustainable solutions for themselves and their customers.

This new guide will help them capture maximum value from aircraft which have reached the end of revenue service, by increasing the amounts of materials that can be recycled and raising the overall residual value of the high-grade materials used in aircraft manufacturing.

AFRA's Executive Director Martin Fraissignes welcomed the launch of the new BMP Guide: 'We are extremely proud of our new guide. It is a perfect example of industry taking the initiative in addressing the important issues which face the aircraft end-of-life industry. AFRA believes the new Guide and its accompanying audit and accreditation program enables businesses to develop a more systematic and specialized approach to aircraft materials recycling.'

Scott Laughlin Vice-President Operations at Huron Valley Fritz West, one of the first companies to be accredited under AFRA's new BMP Guide, stated: 'We believe AFRA Accredited companies will create improved value propositions and create increased business opportunities in a sector which increasingly appreciates a commitment to environmental best practice'.

Denis Oliver, Manager-Aerospace Business Development of ELG Metals, which has also received accreditation through the new AFRA BMP Guide, believes: 'This new AFRA initiative undoubtedly promotes environmental and operational excellence in our sector. We are happy to be associated with the new guide and have utilized it to assess and where necessary improve our practices and procedures.'

The cloak of secrecy will not be lifted just
because L.J Munby now says" judgements will in future be published unless there are compelling reasons not to do so .Who decides the reasons? Why the judges of course !

1:-Judges will still find "compelling reasons" not to publish dodgy judgements.Their judgements are 99% in favour of local authorities so parents' views will NOT be published

2:-The public(including grandparents and relatives of parents) will still be excluded from family courts.

3:-Mothers whose babies have been taken at birth will still be threatened with jail if they" go
public"Forced adoption will uniquely in UK continue unabated so babies are" lost for life"

4:- More children will still be taken for emotional abuse (or risk of it !) than those removed for both sex abuse and physical abuse added together;

5:-The media will still be forbidden to name parents who want to protest openly and publicly

6:-Children taken into care will still have their mobiles and laptops confiscated to isolate them from family and friends, Conversation with visiting parents will still be strictly censored

7:-Children in care receiving visits will still be forbidden to report abuse by fosterers,care workers,or social workers,and nearly half will still end up in jail or as sex workers.

8:-Agencies like Barnardos and N.F.A (founded by 2 social workers and sold for £130million+) will still make fortunes from recruiting fosterers and adoptive parents

9:- Foreign visitors who are single parents here for a holiday or to meet with relatives will be prevented from returning home their children will still be taken for forced adoption.

10:-Pregnant women fleeing the uk before any court proceedings start will still be tracked down in foreign countries by the SS who will snatch the children for forced adoption uk

11:-Judges will continue to issue injunctions forbidding parents who have committed no crime from contacting directly or indirectly their own children for periods of many years.

12:-PUNISHMENT WITHOUT CRIME will continue to be inflicted on parents, as experts (called hired guns in the Ireland report)predict risk of harm to children who are then adopted.

Nothing much will change…..

Towards change:- There just ain't no positives !

By the way when I first got involved in care proceedings. I sacked my first lawyer who I have on good authority took money, another lawyer called and told me everything and everything he states is true. Then with my second lawyer I found an old blog by MP Hodge and read her recommendations and followed them, got my court bundle and sacked them too. Lastly, Ian I found your blogs and followed your instructions to a T apart from kidnapping my child if nothing else prevails. I did not do the latter, because I believed in justice and the wrongs of the council are wide and far, even the ECHR states 'the matters I complain of are within their competence.

I took the right route instead of going on the run. It is too late for me and I must continue the fight, but I would advise single parents in particular of African origin not to even come to Northamptonshire and play proactive in any shape or form, because they do not like this and they hate black people. The latter is displayed without shame. The Trayvon Martin case has brought race into the public eye; which is a good thing and let us not forget Stephen Lawerence. Based on factual evidence you mess with Northamptonshire local establishment the first thing they will do is illegally kidnap your child/ren. Please note, Northamptonshire police & social services, including Northampton Borough Council are labelled the worst in the country for good reason.

Ian, I still do not agree with your views about the secrecy issue, but I do understand your outlook fully and you do present a case to support this and so do I. There has to be some degree of optimism and using whatever crumbs they give us as tools to fight back. If not we all might as well say, everybody give up and take the law into their own hands and do not leave any hostages.

There is also case law made on disclosure and the identity of a child in public law proceedings. Where the local council misinform the community, which will harm the child. The identity of the family maybe revealed, for obvious reason. You will find the text to this judgement created in a note on my Facebook page.

This Scottish MP has no shame whatsoever, it was he who before he brown nosed his way to his job was so outspoken about Atos and the failure of the complete system, soon as he got his well paid job he forgot about his constituents lives and completely shut up about the Atos problem?

The Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction!

The truth behind any story is hidden by the fact it is unable to be found just by reading it! Over the past few years l have studied many articles closely, but reading it alone will not reveal the truth! After studying the news l have been able to see beyond the rhetoric ,to the real truth in many stories. This first real truth relates to anyone investigating a story, be it health, food or finance!

Your first question has to be what is the real reason behind what this person is telling us? If the answer is simply on the surface and reveals just your understanding of the subject, but not its real reason, then dig deeper!

An example maybe as simple as a government states they are cutting a budget, it seems on the surface simple a figure of X is being cut from Y budget! Though listen to other stories in the next few days, and l guarantee you will hear of a new initiative to do with this area that will be set-up to provide a new service. These services l call 3rd party contracts and l use #cash4contracts on a regular basis, to highlight my concern.

So when you search for the truth of any story look for the reason, do not believe the facts as stated, and never take any story on face value. As the "Truth" the "Real Truth" is much stranger than fiction.

The U.S. Supreme Court has handed down two landmark same-sex marriage rulings, one striking down a major provision of the federal Defence of Marriage Act (DOMA) and the other leaving uncertain the fate of California’s Proposition 8, the 2008 ballot initiative that prohibits gay and lesbian couples in the state from marrying.

In addition, the court ruled, DOMA violates the Fifth Amendment’s guarantee of “equal liberty.” Kennedy’s majority opinion states that DOMA “singles out” legally married same-sex couples and imposes a second-class status on them even though their own states have accorded them full marriage rights. Furthermore, Kennedy writes, DOMA advances no government policy or purpose that justifies its discriminatory impact. “The statute is invalid, for no legitimate purpose overcomes the purpose and effect to disparage and to injure those who the State, by its marriage laws, sought to protect in person hood and dignity.”

Eradication of Smallpox Is Certified (1979): One of the deadliest diseases in history by sheer loss of life, smallpox was the target of a concerted, worldwide eradication campaign in the 20th century, and it became the first disease to have been successfully wiped out. Efforts focused on vaccination and quickly responding to and curtailing outbreaks. The last person to die from smallpox caught it at a laboratory, where samples of the now-vanquished disease remain. Promoting Labor Rights is Everyone’s Responsibility:
This year’s Labor Rights Week theme, ‘Promoting Labor Rights is Everyone’s Responsibility,’ underscores the importance of partnerships between the Labor Department and other countries to educate migrant workers and their employers about U.S. labor laws.

Making America’s workplaces safe and fair for everyone is the hallmark of Labor Rights Week. We’re committed to ensuring that workers are safe on the job and paid what they’re owed by law. This means no one can be paid less than $7.25 an hour. It means overtime must be paid for each hour above 40 a week. And it means that employers must provide a safe workplace.
The department’s Wage and Hour Division, which enforces federal laws governing a minimum wage, overtime pay, child labor and the rights of migrant workers, and the department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which is principally concerned with protecting workers from hazards on the job, are participating in Labor Rights Week events throughout the nation this week.
