I was on YouTube yesterday checking out the new feature they rolled out recently (more to come on that soon), when I noticed the Make Mine Milk ad. According to industry body Dairy UK, it’s a £7.5m campaign financed with the aid of the EU that’s designed to boost sales in low-fat milk and to position low-fat milk as the ‘drink of choice’ for young people and their families.

The campaign is being endorsed by known celebrity figures Pixie Lott and Gordon Ramsay to promote the benefits of low-fat milk to teenagers and mums across the country and is making use of social media platforms Facebook and Twitter to tap into the younger audiences.

Their Facebook Page enables users to sport a ‘milk-tache’ of their own as well as providing a quiz. These are essential for a campaign like this in order to attract a growing audience, however they need a stronger focus on branding the Page even more and bringing in more content in a way that is unique— with only 6,115 likes is not enough to gain any real traction, especially seeing as Facebook now boasts an incredible quarter of a billion people using it’s platform. It’s clear that they are using celebrity interest to market their campaign by featured a ‘Gossip’ section with articles and news on celebrity lifestyle but I’m not sure this is enough to get teenagers interested in drinking milk, at least not as a replacement for their consumption of artificial drinks.

It will be interesting to see how sales figures turn out. I just hope we don’t end up seeing Gordon Ramsay’s mug on the front of every milk bottle.

Be easy to use and looks good

Provides a WYSIWYG editor

Allows to upload photo directly to blog or FTP

Not distracting with many customisable options

Allows for pinging

Below is a screen capture of Windows Live Writer running on my Samsung N310 Netbook – Where I do most of my blogging from as it’s convenient.

So far I have only used it to create a few posts but have not noticed any speed issues or crashes occurring. I will be using Windows Live Writer most of the time now and will write up a review of my final thoughts and experiences on using it.

To give it a go yourself, all you need to do is download Windows Live Essentials and make sure Live Writer is selected when installing.

He shines a light on the questions we all have a burning desire to understand but does not provide you with an answer like a lot of other Gurus but instead provokes us to look inwards and be the perceiver of our own experiences without letting ego (thoughts) take over and cause distraction but allow ourselves to let the experience flow around us.

Osho International

He is known for his unique taste in clothes, as well as for sitting in his uniquely designed chair and for his great sense of humour and truth. When you take the time to listen to his videos you will get a sense for the true wisdom he has and a great understanding of the world in which we live in, which is widely based on a superficial ways of thinking and being.

China Brooks

She is a spiritual counsellor, actress, Reiki practitioner and blogger who recently kicked-in a life long alcohol and drug addiction. Her videos take you through her 30 day challenge on quitting substance and alcohol abuse and during that time she explains the reasons for doing what she did. Her new videos shows the new transformation where China provides tips and advise on how to live a healthy and happy life. She’s only uploaded 40 videos and a new one every week or so but I can only assume the videos will increase as time goes on, not to mention she posts articles on her blog regularly with even more advise and tips.

He began several years ago receiving letters from his viewers asking for advise on personal issues that most of us all commonly share. Due to having years of experience in a profession where you need to be focused, motivated and be a good judge of character, Momo is a great guy to get advise from. He has a No Bullshit approach to life which makes watching his videos enjoyable and also relatable, because he is not condescending but encouraging and and speaks to you on a level of that like a friend. His personal story about manifestation and finding his ring was one of the first videos I watched of his.

If you enjoy listening to someone who is energetic, fun and bubbly then this is a channel you should subscribe to. The reason why she is last on my list is because of this one reason, spirituality should not be confused with ‘New Age’ philosophy to do this is dangerous. Although I enjoy Lilou’s interviewing I feel that the type of “experts” she interviews are heavily into promoting ‘New Age’ philosophy, which is a form of malicious thinking which seems attractive to people searching for “truth” but when you peel away to the foundation the whole philosophy behind it is filled with over-technical ‘nonsensical’ terminology and references to other things that inhabits the way in which we perceive the beauty of life. This is only my own opinion. I still recommend you subscribe to her and form your own opinion which is why I included it on the list, because it’s still relevant.

Old Spice were hard at work last week creating video responses from questions asked by their Twitter followers on YouTube, as part of their viral video campaign. There have been many great viral video campaigns in the past that made use of YouTube and other social platforms to engage with their audience, but nothing comes close to what Wieden + Kennedy the brains behind the Old Spice campaign have been able to achieve within such a short amount of time. Everything from the brilliantly played acting by Isaiah Mustafa, the different unusual settings to the humorous quality of the videos— each one is sure to make you laugh. It was a well executed campaign with precision and every detail considered which shows in each of it’s videos and it’s statistics prove it.

And I’m sure the numbers will increase over time as more and more people hear the buzz. I hope more brands take note of how effective this level of marketing is and create some interesting campaigns of their own. What do you think?

The fact that the father knew NOTHING about the Internet using words like ‘back-trace’ and ‘cyber-police’ which made it funny to watch if you are a technology geek like me.
