Great Fun at The Central Coast Country Music Invitational Showcase

Recently I was invited to sing at the central coast country music showcase at Toukley Golf Club, it was a great day and we had a lot of fun singing with a first class band there and a wonderful crowd.

You can click on the paper to the left to read the full size write that was entered in the Entertainment & Lifestyle section of the Central Coast newspaper, the showcase is held every 3rd Sunday of the month with different singers at each event.

I’ve been a keen singer at many of the Central Coast Country Music events for a couple of years now and really enjoyed the Central Coast Country Music Festival and other festivities they have regularly down there for country music (especially the independent artists like myself) they’re really supportive of us all and I think it’s fantastic.

Other Music & Central Coast Country Music Activities

There’s a big brekky coming up at Wyong RSL on Thursday 23rd of May, however, I won’t be able to make it to that event due to my little black Hyundai i30, that takes me all over the countryside with my music, will be in for it’s service.

However, I will be up at Stockton RSL, due to the grace of a good friend of mine taking us up and will join in Australia’s biggest brekky up there and possibly sing a few songs too. There will be line dancing, music, raffles and all sorts of fun and games and it’s always great to be part of the live music in Newcastle scene. But one of my favorite places to perform is in the live music central coast venues like Toukley RSL, Wyong RSL and the many little venues there which are now specializing in country music (I’m as happy as a pig in mud).

I had the amazing opportunity to meet the great Charlie Landsborough on Friday 10th May.

What a humble man he is, I was sitting at the West Leagues Club in my hometown (Newcastle) and saying to my mum, who come along with me to the show, “I would really like to meet Charlie” and as I said that, we saw him walking up the stairs to his rooms and so I got to meet him.

The following day (Saturday 11th May) I had an interview with Lyn Harvey of Gippsland FM and right after, Charlie was being interviewed, and every chance I get to hear what this wonderful man has to say and sing, I try and capture.

So below is the interview…

Gippsland FM Radio Interview – With Lyn Harvey On The “Abundant Life Around The World” Program

I was very happy to talk to Lyn Harvey today of Gippsland FM and the name of Lyn’s show is “Abundant Life Around the World” and what a fantastic name of a show, I really love that term “Abundance” as one of my little catch phrases that I’ve come up with is, “Live, Share and Receive in Abundance” and so I definitely felt a synchronicity with Lyn and her wonderful christian show.

The “Abundant Life Around The World Program” has many artists being interviewed from all over the world and it has a great live streaming feature, which I used to record our interview for you all to hear below in a moment. The core message of her show (which I LOVE) by the way is the GOSPEL message that her show brings.

I hope you learn a little bit more about myself in this audio interview with Gippsland FM Radio and what I failed to say was I only had 3 weeks to live when first admitted and I had absolutely no immune system, hence was walking around and able to get any infection or bug going around.

The Ever Growing Newcastle Country Music Scene

I’ve been having a lot of fun with playing and getting more and more gigs for the Newcastle country music followers and also my much loved home town.

I decided to put a couple of videos up of these shows and in this case it’s a trio show that I did with Sam Franze and Wayne Metcalf, both of whom are my duo partners in different shows also.

Calling All Local Country Music Lovers Around Swansea

We have a fantastic new country music show that myself and my two trio partners have launched and it’s an absolute tonne of fun.

If you’ve been to one of my shows in the past and seen me playing solo, then you’ll love this show, we all play a very different range of songs, and we even throw in some non country classics as well.

If you would like to request a song for us to sing for you or a loved one we’ll work hard to make that happen and we’ll also make sure that we get to spend some time chatting with you.

Our shows are really turning into something special and we like to capture these on video for you to order after the show.

We promise these DVD’s won’t be expensive, but if for whatever reason you can’t make it, whether you live outside the area, or you’re a local but busy or away that weekend we are starting to address this for you, so you don’t miss out.

I Had LOTS of Fun Singing For Seniors Week…

This past week I’ve been singing for seniors week, and has been an amazing experience for me, it’s been exciting, heart warming and extremely humbling at the same time.

I had 3 days of singing for seniors in the following towns:

1. Coonabarabran
2. Baradine
3. Coolah
4. Mendooran
5. Binnaway
6. Dunedoo

These towns are very near and dear to my heart as I’ve been traveling up to Baradine and Mungindi since I was born from Newcastle.

I have to say that, I was very nervous, being an “out-of-town” person from the city, but the acceptance and the amount of warmth that I was greeted with has really warmed my heart.

And when I sung songs of faith hope and love, and all my other originals, dancing songs, happy and sad songs, the response made me very happy to know that everyone liked them. I think it’s a singers biggest worry that they’re going to sing their originals and not have them accepted by their audience, but this was not the case with any of these wonderful seniors, family and staff of the Warrumbungle Shire Council.

Everyone so heartily got behind the entire show, my story and the fact that I wanted to spread faith, hope and love through my songs and raise money for the Calvary Mater Hospital Haematology Ward in Newcastle, I’ve been absolutely humbled by the response and I thank all who are now supporting me, my music and my mission.

Below are some photo’s of the show and a video I created upon my return home of some of the venues I sung at, unfortunately not all venues could be recorded as my blasted video camera battery didn’t last the distance, but the video still goes for a good 10 minutes.

I would like to thank Deanne Britton from the Warrumbungle Shire Council for organising these venues and the wonderful ladies that come along to each venue from the council, it was great to meet you all.

Another special thanks goes to the community radio station 2WCR-FM 99.5, Brian and Jean, who did so much in playing my music, doing give-aways of my CD’s and interviews.

There will be plenty more photo’s available shortly I hope, and I’ll post them in this post as they become available.

Next year, I hope to be singing for seniors in the above towns again and also contributing to seniors week Newcastle as well, it will be a very busy period for me, but I’m so very much looking forward to it, as I love have lunch, share stories with and sing for seniors they’re wonderful.

I love singing for seniors so much that I’ve decided to place a BIG importance on new shows for them, now and in the future, that I’ve created an entire new website around seniors concerts and this will cater specifically for nursing homes, retirement villages, day care centers, seniors friendship clubs and shows like the ones I’ve just completed for seniors week.

This is just a quick blog post today, I’ve been busy getting new albums recorded and ready to go on the road this week for Seniors Week.

I’m really looking forward to doing these 6 shows over 3 days and the details are in Facebook where you can see where I’ll be playing for free and meeting and greeting everyone, and you can also look at the bottom of this page in my gig guide to see the locations and times there.

The Seniors Week shows are not just for seniors however, they are for all ages so the whole family can come along to these shows and share some songs, food and drinks.

I’ll be in Baradine, Coonabarabran on Wednesday, Mendooran and Binnaway on Thursday, and Dunedoo and Coolah on Friday, then I’m off to Narrabri races on Saturday to watch my cousins horses race there, it will be a fun day out.

When I get back I’ll have more songs to share with you all and also will be starting on some great new originals to record.

My Second Song “If I Lost You” by Travis Tritt

Well, it’s now day two in my 90 country songs in 30 days and I have another song to post up for you to hear (if you wish to hear my day one song click here and hear “Somewhere Else” a cover song by Toby Keith).

Travis Tritt is one of my favorite singers and this song “If I Lost You” is the final song from a Trilogy of videos on YouTube, and it’s like a mini-movie series that he did, over 3 songs, when I first heard them I actually thought he was in a movie and was looking everywhere for it, but to my dismay he’s never been in a movie (as I love movies with my country favorites in, but that’s another story).

In the series of 3 songs by Travis Tritt, are the following order of the storyline, be warned these are very deep (and a little sad, but so beautiful):

2. Tell Me I Was Dreaming

3. If I Lost You (You can hear my recording of this at the end of this post)

Well, here is my first cover song in this 30 day challenge, where I’m going to record 90 songs by the end of February.

This first song I’ve recorded is Toby Keith’s hit song “Somewhere Else”, which is one of my favorite songs, but then again Toby Keith is one of my favorite singers too, so when I do cover songs, I love to do his music.
