Sooo, what’s new? I received a Liebster Blog award (woohoooo!!). It came from lovely Nina, owner of No.40 blog (thank YOU Nina … big HUG!!).

In case you are wondering (as I was at one time!) … ‘what on earth is a Liebster’, Nina (who is German as well) explains that ‘Liebster’ is the German word for beloved/dear/favorite.

Ooooh, what a pretty word it has become to me. I love it!, and so much that I am going to try to incorporate it into my vocabulary … maybe even at dinner time today (I can already see my hubby’s confused face when I say/use the word). Here’s a bit of more scoop on the Liebster Blog award:

The Liebster Blog award is passed from one blog to the other to honor your favorite, smaller blogs (ones with less than 200 followers) and once chosen, you get to give the award to 5 of your Liebster (Oooh, did you see? I am already using the word in my vocab – yeah!) blogs.

Oooh, pssssst, secret time, come clooooser … I have some behind the scene scoop:  the ‘pocket of love’ heart for this new fabric design will be in the back (yep, a ‘secret pocket of love‘ in the back). Say waaa? Ok, here is my why: I love the decision to place some hearts on the back bec I visualize customers picking them up from their sofa as they sit down after a long day at work and being reminded when they see the red heart pocket that … they are loved! That’s my why full of xoxox! So, do you like the new fabric design color? Have a GREAT weekend!!!

Decal power to the design!!!! You probably know by now that I LOVE decals … they come in cool designs, colors, and are ooooh so economical! So in this design project (transforming a basement to a guest room/ karaoke space/ and poker room) we installed wall decals (above is fabulosa Evelisa helping install the large flower ball decals). The yellow and gray decals balance the yellow and gray pillow covers that will be across the room … on the sofa. If you want to check out pics of the pillow covers head over here.  What do you think of the large round floral decals? Looks a bit 3D-ish don’t they?  ….. yep, even decals can have the ‘look of texture’.

Below I am below doing yoga …. I mean I am streeeetching to install the musical notes decal to the ceiling (yep, that day I skipped the gym since installations are usually a work-out!!!).

Here I am showing the panel of decals, I trimmed around each note, then placed them individually (funny, my shirt looks black …. it was actually gray):

Here are the LARGE LEAVES for the designated kids karaoke space … did you see the lil splash of blue color in their cute little chairs?. The leaves are a canopy usually attached to a bed, but of course I love ’designing outside the box’ so I had the contractors mount the leaves onto the wall to cover the kids table area. Whatcha think of it? (doesn’t it make you want to have a picnic!!):

The difficult part of the assembly was actually inserting the poles (um, ‘stem’ into the leaves). Here is a closer look:

Below is Evelisa showing off our shoe protectors … the client installed carpet recently so we came prepared with shoe/floor protectors. Of course, our contractors had them on as well … the professional bunch that they are!

Here is the design board I created, showing the clients all the items I recommend for the room. We took out the round table, and changed the carpet tiles, but everything else was approved. For the poker table, I proposed the below blur chairs (splash of colooooor). Did you see how the kids little blue chairs match in color as the adults (so they can feel grown up too!):

Installation went well, we haven’t set up the design photoshoot yet, but when we do, we will share with you how the entire room looks. In case you didn’t see the gutter room before, here is a peek.

How’s your weekend starting off? Yesterday was my birthday which was filled with laughter, flowers, yuuummmy cake, GREAT food, and presents … including this present that I gave to myself – these mega high heels below …. isn’t it gorgeous? I love the fresh vibrant color and I felt no guilt buying them in my birthday ‘month’ ….  yep in our fam the entire month is a bday celebration!!!!:

A top present that I received was a Swiss Army camera bag .. the best part is that I had spotted it at a store one day with my hubby and I mentioned how GREAT the color was and it would be perfect for my camera and that I would buy it another day. Well, my hubby has the BEST memory ever … bec. I forgot and he remembered. I looooove the bag!!!!:

Ooooh ….. today’s post is about our new pillow cover so let me get back to that now! Have you seen all 4 designs at hellooo home store? I wanted our theme-line of ‘pocket of love’ hearts to be kinda interactive .. like for adding tissues (if you have the sniffles), adding a small book, or it could be bedtime for a stuffed toy …. like cookie monster (thanks Evelisa for bringing over the blue cookie-monster prop!!):

Happy Wednesday! When client items are shipped to my office the first thing we do is inspect them (in particular – color color, size, and making sure that there are no damages).

One of my clients in Westchester County was in the process of moving from New Rochelle to Larchmont so I volunteered to have some of her items shipped to my office for storage and since were were the 1st eyeballs to see the items, we had to be 100% sure that there were no damages. So, when the 10 (yes, TEN) curtain panels arrived … it was inspection time!!!! Don’tcha love the design of the curtains?:

Once the client and her fam settled into their new home and all of the items within their design arrived, it was then …. installation day!!!! Here’s Evelisa and one of our contractors installing the lovely curtains. The basement space also has a washer/dryer area, so to ‘pretty-size’ the space we added curtains to the W/D entry.

My design included modern light gray colors with cool graphic designs presented  in the curtains, wall decals, pillow covers, and rug. Below is a peek at a few:

Oh, did I forget to mention that this design was for a basement? Here’s Evelisa (you know her best as my fabulosa design assistant) and a photo of the first day I walked into the basement to take measurements … yep, NO walls up yet … just concrete:

The mission was to turn the basement into a guest room/ kids’ karaoke play space, and a poker room that sits 10 players. The client already had a contractor to install the walls, ceiling, closets .. and we came in to transform it from a basement to an elegant/fun/casual room .. all with economical solutions of course (bec that is how we rooooll over here).

One big disappointing moment is when my contractors open the clear folding chairs …and we discovered that they were broken in shipping; clients hadn’t inspected the package when it was delivered to them by the store so we only discover this the day of installation (boohoo sniff sniff). I remember looking at the package and thinking … that does NOT look right? .. for I quickly noticed the package was bubbled-wrapped OUTSIDE, instead of putting extra care of protecting the inside contents (how weird is that?)!!!

But the design installation muuuuust continue!!!! Here are a few more design items incorporated into the room … yellow pillow covers (for 1 side of the room) and yellow wall decals (for the other side of the room = color balance!) …. and …

since we wanted to turn the space into a fun area for karaoke fun for the kids, I proposed music note decals ….. whatchathink of it?

The ceiling has some weird shapes (remember, it is a basement) so I added wall decals to the low ceiling posts to give people the visual ‘heads-up’ that the ceiling is low. I kid you not, i felt I was in yoga class installing these decals since I had to stretch and bend (practically backwards sometimes) .. all in the line of fun cool design:

So, what does a decorator do when she doesn’t have
time to zip to the store to buy gift wrapping paper? She gets creative! My hubby’s v-day gift arrived and I was on the mission to get it wrapped before he spotted it. I fiqured I would create my own wrapping paper and then I spotted it …….. beautiful bright RED and WHITE color paper … um, not exactly wrapping paper … YET! I Spotted a Macy’s store bag, then grabbed scissors, tape, and a red ribbon …..

I loved that the bag have the bright red STAR and text ….

From it’s text … I added my own personalizing the ‘wrapping paper’:

Then, I grabbed some red velvet ribbon that I had and outlined the heart shape .. snip snip:

Here it is all wrapped with love …. no peeking inside until tomorrow!

This weekend, I started my V-day chocolate eating (I know, I know, I am early …. but I received a yummy gift from my hubby in the mail  (chocolate covered strawberries from Shari’s Berries ) and well I just HAAAAD to eat them .. it said so in the box, check it out:

I love how the packaging has written messages like ….”Close and lock the door. Hide behind large piece of furniture. quietly open box. Savor and enjoy.” And hey, I am a gal that follows rules, so I HAD TO EAT them (yes, hubby had some too). I highly recommend to treat yourself to some of these yummies or gift away to a love one … and it doesn’t haven’t to be Valentine’s day to give yourself or someone else a delicious treat!
