The chapter, "Mentor Support & Values Transformation," makes the point that the most important support for structure and ADDers is the support that comes from a mentor. The impartation of information or the conveyance of knowledge is not the kind of support that improves life with ADD. Mentors don’t inform us-—they transform us by their lives and examples. Mentors don’t impart facts—the inspire insight. They are the cocoons that take our caterpillars and make us butterflies.

ADD in the Bible Part 2, 031809

Two more Biblical characters w/ ADD are explored in this podcast. These chapters from the audio book "ADD, Christianity, & the Church" are about "Mary & Martha" and "The Woman at the Well" (one audio chapter immediately follows the other). Martha provides insight into the "super-responsible, anxious-worry-wart" type of ADDers. BUT.... she would never admit to being ADD! She's too busy picking up after and dealing w/ the hyperactive boys/men in her life. She's overwhelmed by all her commitments, duties, and fears. But inside she's empty and hurt. She misses the love and connection of nurturing relationships that await her in life. And she is also busy being ill.... She suffers from chronic fatigue, depression, headaches, auto-immune diseases (from fibromyalgia to lupus, RA, ulcerate colitis, et al.), or far worse. And "The Woman at the Well" an gifted and intelligent woman who has had multiple marriages and a less-than-stellar track record. Both women were encouraged and help by the Lord's love.

Another audio book chapter from "ADD, Christianity, & the Church." The very nature of our ADD/adhd adds to our troubles. The acorns, stress, anxiety, and FEAR just turn our brains off more. So we are less effective when we need to be on-our-game! But in those times of stress and brain loss, we are even more vulnerable to attacks, doubts, falsehoods, and half truths about ourselves and our ADD. So this podcast helps dispels more of the myths about ourselves and ADD. This info is important for us to know, but also for those others in our lives who need to hear the truth about our ADD. I took this particular chapter VERY SERIOUSLY! I spend a week w/ fact-checks and research to properly exposing the falsehoods. In this podcast, the 1st 2 chapters of the "ADD, Christianity, & the Church" audiobook will be shared. Authors Jonathan Scott Halverstadt and Jerry Seiden share their "Mission" in the book and begin the "Face of ADD" true stories. This podcast just scratches the surface for all the different variations, types, and personal experiences of ADDers in and out of church life. In coming podcasts Jerry and Dennis will share the entire audiobook in between other podcasts with current events or group discussions.
