If you like flowers and need a quick card this one is very easy to pull together. Stamping off/Second generation ink is the key.

The largest flower is the focal point with some smaller images surrounding it. I stamped the center of the flower twice as well as the smaller flowers and leaves. It is an old trick to create depth. I love this stamp set but have to admit I am puzzled as to why there is no center stamp for the flowers - meaning the little blank circle is always there. Yes, a pearl or rhinestone can be added but sometimes I just want a flat card with no embellishments.

I am also loving the new In Colors.

Hanging onto Summer

It is the first day of Autumn here in the States but I am not ready to let go of Summer. I even wore my white sandals the other day and could hear my mother's voice in my head, "you should never wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day". I don't think that holds true anymore - not that I care.

I chose the colors of my card based off the flowers growing in the planter on my deck. They have been showing off all summer but never more so than now. It is because of them that I haven't purchased any pots of mums yet. I don't need them!

My card was stamped with the flowers from Penned & Painted and sentiment from Blooms & Wishes. I added the speckles with the Timeless Texture stamp set. My previous blog post showed this same stamp set with the outline only. I did the coloring. If you don't like to color, this set has the solid stamp and detail stamp as well so you can create a monochromatic combination or change it up with different inks.

I used 2 of the new In Colors again and these really go well together. They are listed in supplies below.

Where to begin?! You may have noticed - and I know many of you did - that I haven't posted since May. Yikes!

Thank you for the emails asking my whereabouts and for your concern. It was all very very humbling to know that my creativity was missed - not to mention the concern expressed over my personal well being.

I am well. My family is well. I didn't really mean to take so much time off from blogging but the summer got a hold on me and wouldn't let go. Plus I was a little burnt out. By not stamping and/or blogging I was able to pursue some other creative endeavors and oh my it has been fun. And it was just what I needed!

I finally added some ink and stamped some cards. I only have a few of the new stamps from the large Annual catalog so I thought it was about time I test them out. They are very simplistic cards - nothing like I usually do so hopefully you can overlook that. I also wanted to try out the 5 new In Colors. So here is one card that I made.

It is a 4.25" square card and uses only the outline stamps from the Penned and Painted stamp set. "For You" is from a different set. I wanted to create a quick and easy card so I just stamped the outline images and did a quick wash with the new Peekaboo Peach ink and my aqua painter. I will post another card that I made with the outline images and the solid images. It is a nice versatile set in that way.

White Embossed Blossoms

After all of the posts I have done featuring retiring stamp sets and products, I thought I would throw in a card that I made with a current set - Birthday Blossoms. There is nothing on it that is retiring!

The small, white, embossed flowers are what gives this card that wow factor.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I will be doing some planting, edging and weeding now that my dog seems to be feeling better.

About that dog…. We still don't know what is wrong but she has recurring diarrhea, vomiting clear liquid at night only, and general depression. She never stops eating though. Her blood work indicated that her cortisol level is low, indicative of Addison's Disease. Her ultrasound showed small adrenal glands, also another indication. But when given the test for Addison's Disease she passed with flying colors. Go figure. So she is on a probiotic and high fiber diet and will get tested in another month for Addison's. Anyone have any experience with this disease in dogs? She is a 6 3/4 year old spayed female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and for now is back to her normal self. Key word being "for now".

A Picture Perfect Blue Rose

I made this weeks ago but haven't got around to posting it. Life has been busy around here with a sick dog and 2 kids home this week. One bad, one good. Events, not kids. Haha.

I stamped the background with the large image from Gorgeous Grunge and Marina Mist ink (stamped off first). I love how the blue shows through the leaves that I stamped directly to the card stock.

I played around with the sentiment and how to add one. I ended up embossing it in white on black which is very trendy right now. I don't know how I feel about this trend because the black is such a contrast to the other colors.

Fortunately Picture Perfect and Gorgeous Grunge will be around another year! But the striped paper from Pretty Petals paper stack is not.

Stamp Review Crew: Guy Greetings Edition

I used the old timey car image from this fabulous set and watercolored a Father's Day card.

I used watercolor paper for the top panel and colored it with Dapper Denim, one of the new In Colors that will be available June 1st. I love the intense blue of this new ink when it is diluted a bit with water. The card stock (base of the card) is not quite as bright and neither is the ink when stamped so don't be ~~alarmed~~ fooled by that.

The ground under the car is Soft Suede ink and if you look closely at the car there is a touch of Cajun Craze for a bit of car rust. Haha. The beauty of watercolor of course, is how the inks move where the water takes them and creates a wonderful blend.

Another new product that isn't available till June 1st is Foam Adhesive strips. They are meant to be used for shaker cards but I bought them to use instead of dimensionals to raise up a panel as seen below.

I love the even height and stability that these strips give to a raised panel.

You Little Furball Stampin' Up!

Today's stamp set features You Little Furball. It is retiring and makes wonderful cards for the cat lover.

My card was inspired by a cat that I had a few years back. She loved mylar balloons for some reason and would hold the string in her mouth and walk around the house with them. I would find balloons in the oddest places!

This little cat is just holding the balloons with her paws so they don't float away.

The balloons are punched with the new Balloon punch which is NOT retiring thank goodness. However the Something to Say stamp set that I used for the sentiment and star ARE retiring - as is the Itty Bitty Accent punches that include the little star punch. Tip: use a Smoky Slate marker to draw the "ribbon".

I have had a lot of fun with these little cat images as you can hopefully tell by the cards I previously made and showcase below.

Beautiful Bunch with Washi Tape

Sometimes you need a big bold statement on a card. Beautiful Bunch stamp set is just the thing for such a card - plus it has a coordinating punch - and both are retiring so you won't want to miss out on this bold stamp set.

I made this Bermuda Bay card just for this blog post. Some lucky customer will receive it I am sure :) Keep scrolling down for other cards and their links.

I used some other retiring products for this card. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs stamp set. The leaves were punched with the Bird Builder punch. The center was punched with the 7/8" Scallop Circle punch. The Candy Dots and Cherry on Top Washi Tape are also retiring.

Pictogram Punches You're a Star

Pictogram Punches was a must have when it first came out. I thought it had lots of possibilities - and still do. It is going to be retiring so I want to give it one last go. Don't forget to keep scrolling down for more cards made with this set.

I used softer colors for my card but any color combination would look good! Note: The Hello Honey streak is second generation ink.

The tails of the stars are from the Work of Art stamp set which is NOT retiring. Neither is the Confetti Stars Border Punch or Wink of Stella. What IS retiring would be the Pictogram Punches stamp set and the coordinating Itty Bitty Accents Punches.

This set makes cute baby cards, thank you cards, birthday cards, Anniversary cards, Valentine cards, etc. I only focused on a few.

Summer Silhouettes in Watermelon and Coral

I just got back from a wonderful 2 days in Southeast Pennsylvania and I was so inspired by all of the greenery and flowers that I saw, I just had to create a card!

As you probably know I have been using my soon to be retired stamp sets at least one last time before May 30th. The first card today is a new creation using Summer Silhouettes stamp set, and the ones that follow have been previously posted. I hope I can inspire you one last time!

I chose to make this card with some contrast and some harmony. Watermelon Wonder, Calypso Coral and Pumpkin pie harmonize but the addition of black and white is a nice contrast. Tip: I used post it notes to mask some of the flowers before I stamped the leaves. I also used an aqua painter and ink to fill in any gaps left from the masking. A blender pen works even better!

Flowering Flourishes in Navy and White

Today's selection of cards (new and old) feature the soon to be retired stamp set, Flowering Flourishes. This is one of two that I just made. I'll save the other one for another day.

I stamped one of the flourish stamps several times with Versamark. Then I embossed it with White Embossing Powder. Even though the embossing is white it looks lovely with Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon. Of course White Ribbon would work too!

By the Tide Best Dad Ever

By the Tide stamp set - oh I love you - and will never part with you even though you will be retiring. Of all the retiring stamp sets, this is the one I love the most so I have a lot of blog posts that feature this set as you will see at the end of this blog post!

This is a card that I just made because: 1.) I am trying to make one last card with each of my stamp sets that are retiring. 2.) I love this stamp set and need a card for my hubby.

The background of Lost Lagoon was embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder because it reminds me of bubbles. Both of those items are retiring, as is the Chevron Ribbon that I used and ALL of the Scallop punches are retiring! That makes me very sad cause I love punches. They are so easy to use and are always handy.

The sentiment which is from the And Many More stamp set (retiring), can be Father's Day, Birthday, or just because he is the Best Dad Ever.

If you don't have By the Tide and aren't sure you need it/want it, then I have a few more cards for some inspiration. Some of them have products that are no longer available by can easily be substituted.

World of Dreams - Present and Past

Today's post is all about the retiring stamp set, World of Dreams. Here is a card that I made recently. I have so many favorite cards using World of Dreams so I thought I would include those at the end of the post. Enjoy!

For this card, I also used the retiring paper stack, Pretty Petals. The inspiration for the colors and layout came from a swap card that I received a long time ago from Connie Tumm.

I thought the 2 birds and a nest would make a darling Anniversary card so I added the "happy together" sentiment from the (also retiring) A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.

In the next few weeks I will be trying to focus on stamp sets and other products that will be retiring from the Occasions catalog and the current Annual catalog. I figure I will have plenty of time to use the new stuff so why not enjoy the old stuff while I can!

Today's card uses 3 stamp sets that are retiring. The Open Sea and World Map coordinate beautifully and make great guy cards especially when paired with any sentiment from the set, And Many More.

There are so many color options for this card but I decided to just use neutrals: Black, White, and Smoky Slate.

Sadly, the Mini Brads are retiring as well as the 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, 1" Square Punch, and Circle Framelits - all used on my card. I posted links to the retiring list, plus supplies used at the end of the post.

I have 2 cards for you today.

Now that the Retiring List is available, I have been trying to use up some of my designer series paper and Timeless Elegance paper is soooo easy to use!

The roses that you see are actually the paper - no stamping! Isn't it gorgeous? For my card, I used 3 different sponge daubers and added the color. Use a light touch - you can always make it darker.

Here is a close up where you can see how I used Rose Red and then added a bit of Crushed Curry to the roses. The leaves are just a hint of Pear Pizzazz.

The Oval punches are retiring as well - just an FYI

I needed to make quite a few of these cards so each card was different because of the pattern of the paper.

The bottom of the card is the lace patterned paper, also from Timeless Elegance paper series.

I used the same technique for the yellow roses only I added a touch of Rose Red to the Crushed Curry roses as you can see in the close up.

If I had really wanted to dress up this card I could have added ribbon and/or pearls. But because all of them were being mailed I kept them flat so I wouldn't get charged extra.

Retirement List and a Card

I have a card for you, but first...

It is that time of year my friends, when Stampin' Up! reveals the stamps and other products that will not be in the new and upcoming Annual Catalog! This includes the things from the Occasions Catalog as well.

Retiring products will only be available until May 31 or while supplies last.

I am showing this close up so you can see that I used the 3/4" circle punch for the Hello Honey flowers. It beats hand cutting them!

Candy Dots are retiring, but for my card I used the Rhinestones and a black Sharpie marker.

Circle of Spring navy and yellow

My daffodils are blooming - as are my yellow and purple pansies, so I was in the mood for a card with yellow flowers. I added Night of Navy though, instead of purple. Read on for the little extra that I gave this card. Do you know what it is?

No, it isn't the Washi Tape across the top and bottom although Washi Tape makes a great border!

If you guessed berries then you are correct! After I stamped and colored the wreath, I used the fine tip of my Night of Navy marker and added berries all around the wreath. It is so easy to do and it pulls in the Night of Navy color from the card base. Try it sometime!

You can't really tell from the photo but there is a base card of Night of Navy and then a smaller piece on top of that. The smaller piece was embossed with the Decorative Dots folder and looks lovely in real life.

Tomorrow I will find out what is being retired from the current Annual Catalog. It is always a bittersweet time to see favorite stamp sets and accessories being discontinued. But….. it makes for more room in the new Annual Catalog for new stuff. Yay!!

Wild About Flowers in Blue

I had some oval scraps in my scrap pile so I created today's card using Wild About Flowers stamp set and Pretty Petals paper stack.

These are not my usual go to colors, meaning I rarely use Pacific Point. That is what I love about designer series paper, especially pretty prints like the ones shown here. They encourage me to use colors out of my comfort zone. And they coordinate beautifully!

The sentiment is actually from the Circle of Spring stamp set - the one with the pretty wreath. I have a card that uses that set also and will be posting it later.

I am anxious to see what will be retiring from the current catalog. I know this Pretty Petals paper stack will be, as will all of our paper. The list comes out on Monday, April 18th and consumables will be available while supplies last. Just sayin'.

Kinda Eclectic and some Great Deals

The Butterflies Thinlit is not on sale but I thought I would show you a card that I made with it.

I stamped the leaves from Kinda Eclectic stamp set. Some were hand cut, some stamped directly. Then I just layered them with some paper patterns from Farmers Market designer paper series.

I left the sentiments off and just made that black die-cut butterfly be my focal point.

Envelope Punch Board Jar and Flowers

Today's card shows a fun use of the Envelope Punch Board.

The flowers are embossed with white, colored with an aqua painter, and the one in the foreground was hand cut.

The best part of the card is the Vellum jar/vase made to look as such by using the Envelope Punch Board. It rounds corners and makes the indent for the neck. Once the shape was complete, I gave it a wash with some ink and tied some Linen Thread around it for a country vibe. Of course the gingham helps with that too!
