The Octagon - FOUND!!!

Does anyone remember that movie "The Octagon"? Starring Chuck Norris?

Basically it was a movie about - wait for it - Chuck Norris kicking ass. It was one of his first starring roles. One bit of trivia I learned is that Mr. Norris was actually a stunt man on "The Blues Brothers" movie. Belushi was the one that told him to go into acting. Think about that the next time that you're watching "According to Jim".

Anyway, in the movie, the aforementioned Mr. Norris has a hard time locating The Octagon itself. That's where all the killer ninjas were. As if Mr. Norris would be messing around with non-killer Ninjas.

Keep that in mind as I finish weaving my tale here.

There Will Be Blood

Finally got around to seeing "There Will Be Blood". I didn't really want to go at first because I heard it was kind of long (which it was, but more on that later). But I wound up giving in at the end because my friends had trusted me enough to go see "No Country For Old Men".

The other thing about seeing movies over here is that you have to choose wisely. One of my favorite things back in the States was to go see crappy movies. Well, not for friggin $12 a ticket am I going to go see a crappy movie over here. I'll just download it.

The French Elvis!

Awesome. If there's anything the Frogs need, it's a little more Elvis. Mojo Nixon had a song about a little Elvis in everyone. According to Mojo, the only person who didn't have any Elvis in him was Michael J. Fox.

I happen to agree with Mr. Nixon. I also happen to agree that the Frogs could all use a little more of The King in them.

He was put to sleep back in December. He'd gotten pretty sick.

He was also my assistant editor. This is him on top of my high tech editing suite.

I'll try to keep things more updated.

Do You Really Want to Arrest Me?

My specialism in school is "Crime". I usually have to glance at the arrest records every now and then. I learned three interesting things this week.

1) Boy George lives in my neighborhood

2) Boy George was recently arrested

3) Boy George was charged in the police station right around the corner from my flat

Austin in London

Made my way around Shoreditch, one of the close by boroughs today.

Reminds me of Austin, specifically East Austin and Red River a lot. Apparently, a little as ten years ago, you could have actually been able to afford a place here for not too much money. Now, of course, it's a different story.

The pub where Porter was started is apparently here. As well as the two theatres where old Bill Shakespeare used to stage his plays.

Apparently back in the day, this was the "bawdy" part of town.

Deputy mayor dies in monkey attack

NEW DELHI, India (AP) -- Wild monkeys attacked a senior government official who then fell from a balcony at his home and died Sunday, media reported.

New Delhi Deputy Mayor S.S. Bajwa was rushed to a hospital after the attack by a gang of Rhesus macaques, but succumbed to head injuries sustained in his fall, the Press Trust of India news agency and The Times of India reported.

So I got to see the joys of Socialized Medicine firsthand when I turned in my paperwork at the NHS Centre near me.

First of all - of course - at the exact same time like three other people walked in right in front of me.

Then we had to wait in line. It took about 10 minutes for someone to show up.
