Fellow Santaclausians,

On Saturday, April 29, we say farewell to Adisadel College's most
celebrated Headmaster.
For close to two decades, RT Orleans-Pobee, an old boy himself, steered
the affairs of our Alma Mater with distinction.
RTOP won a national award in 2008.

In 2010, we unanimously named him the centenary Santaclausian.
We have instituted annual lectures in his name.

We are Either the First or with the First.

Let us prepare ourselves to demonstrate to Ghana and the world that we
truly cherish RTOP.

We have put in place all necessary arrangements to give RTOP a befitting
Santaclausian send-off.
Let us move in one accord to the State House, Accra, on Saturday at
7.30am and paint the national compound in Adisadel colours - preferably
Centenary Cloth (Black&White).

This is a chance to see Adisadel Spirit at work !

Dear Santaclausians,

If I should repeat, our Santaclausian of the Millennium and the most
celebrated Headmaster of all time, ROBERT THOMPSON ORLEANS-POBEE, passed
on to eternity on 6th March 2017, at the age of 89.

Your NEC-AOBA has met with the Family and Children of RTOP and extended
sympathies and condolences of ALL Old Boys. We have also discussed the
burial and funeral rites and agreed as follows :

1. The BURIAL & FUNERAL RITES will be held at the Forecourt of the
State House, Accra, on SATURDAY, 29th APRIL 2017 from 7.30AM till
4.30PM. Burial will be at Osu Cemetary, near the State House.

2. There will be no formal Wake-keeping; however, OLD BOYS may visit
the RTOP` Residence at Osu and mourn with Family & Children on Friday,
28th April from 7pm till 10pm.

3. On Sunday, 30th April, 2017, there will Thanksgiving Service at
Ridge Church at 9.00am.

THIS IS AN ADISADEL FUNERAL AND OLD BOYS SHOULD BE OUT IN THEIR NUMBERS
TO SHOW THE WORLD HOW MUCH WE LOVED RT ORLEANS-POBEE. THIS IS A CHANCE
TO SHOW THE WORLD WHY WE ARE EITHER THE FIRST OR WITH THE FIRST. WE WILL

e) NEC-AOBA WILL ORDER 10 BARRELS OF PALM WINE AND 50 CARTONS OF
BOTTLED PALM WINE FOR THE OCCASION AS SYMBOL OF OUR IDENTIFICATION WITH
PALM WINE.

f) OLD BOYS, YEAR GROUPS WHO CAN SPONSOR/LEVERAGE TAKE-AWAY PACKAGES
FOR ANY PORTION OF 3,000 PACKS SHOULD CONTACT THE NEC.

g) INDIVIDUAL OLD BOYS/ENERGY GROUPS WHO CAN PROVIDE MOBILE TOILETS,
FIRE SERVICE, FIRST AID/AMBULANCE SERVICES SHOULD CONTACT THE NEC.

h) KOO NIMO AND HIS GROUP HAVE AGREED TO TRAVEL FROM KUMASI TO
PERFORM AT THE EVENT. WE WILL NEED A SPONSOR TO PAY FOR THEIR

Demise of R. T. Orleans-Pobee

Fellow Santaclausians,

It is with deep sorrow that the Association announces the passing and
call to eternity of our beloved and much loved Santaclausian and longest
serving former Headmaster Mr. Robert Thompson Orleans-Pobee.

He was adjudged the Santaclausian of the 20th Century during the
centenary celebrations of the college.

He shaped the life and academic performance of most Old Boys between the
early 1960s to about 1974.

A delegation of the NEC and leadership of the various year groups will
pay courtesy call on Family on Wednesday 8th March around Noon. Names of
Reps/Volunteers should be submitted to NEC Secretariat.

May his gentle soul Rest in Perfect Peace.

Book Launch - "Untold Story behind Adisadel 2016 NSMQ Win"

The Erratic Truth Foundation will on Wednesday 8th March, 2017 launch a
book on the 2016 National Science & Maths Quiz win by the College team.

The Book "Untold Story behind Adisadel 2016 NSMQ Win" tells the stories
& challenges leading to the win, contributions of the Foundation & Santaclausians.

The Launch will be held at the College of Physicians & Surgeons @ 5pm prompt

Funds raised at the event will support the STEAM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, Arts & Maths) educational project in Ghana.

The foundation has Dr David Nfodjo (1988), Dr. Ros Pobee(1988), Prince
Mensah(1992) as founding members.

Augustus Allotey Richardson, Knight House 1970, Passes

Fellow Santaclausians,

Augustus Allotey Richardson (aka Kofi Allotey, Gus, Fiifi), Santaclausian and member of Knight House, 1970 Year Group, passed away, on May 20, 2016, after a short illness in a Hospital in Lewistown, near Dallas, Texas. May he rest in peace.

Kofi Allotey, Fiifi, or Gus, as he was popularly known, lived and worked in the Greater Dallas, Texas, Area as an Accountant, Tax Consultant and Financial Adviser for more than 30 years.
His recent activities within the global Santaclausian Family include September 2015 travel from Dallas to Adisadel to join his 1970 Year Group which celebrated the 50th Anniversary of their arrival on the Adisadel Hill as FORM ONE Students. He also attended the one week July 2010 Adisadel College Centenary Celebration in Cape Coast.

He comes from a long line of Richardsons, all of them ardent Santaclausians of the 1950s, '60s and '70s.

Triangular Golf Tournament - Report

The Adisadel Golf team came second at the just ended Triangular Golf Tournament held on the 14th of May, 2016.

It is worth noting that even though our arch-rivals won by 42 points against 38 by Adisadel and Achimota, they fielded 2 aliens ( a lady & a
South African) whilst Achimota fielded 21 players against the 19 each of Adisadel & the Kwabotwe boys.

The Trophy for the game was donated by the family of the Late Major John Nyen of the 1969 group who passed away two weeks before the tournament.
May His Soul Rest in Perfect Peace. A minute's silence was held in his memory.

The Adisadel team was led by Captain David Atuwo who was standing in for Sqr. Leader C.W. Stanley-Pierre (Rtd.)

Reclamation of Classrooms

The NEC is pleased to inform you that the form 1 classrooms or the classrooms under the Canterbury hall which was converted to dormitories have been reclaimed as at Monday 16th May, 2016.

They will revert back to their original status.

We wish to use this medium to congratulate the management of the school for implementing the road map of reclamation. We Say Ayekoo to the Headmaster and Staff.

The remaining classroom block turned dormitory (New House 2) will be reclaimed next year.

Philip Yebesi Appointed to Adisadel Board of Governors

Philip brings on board extensive corporate experience. He is very committed and passionate to the cause of Adisadel.

This year's game is between Adisadel - Mfantsipim - Achimota.

Use of Chapel as Classroom

Fellow Santaclausians,

We are delighted to inform you that as at Tuesday 15th, March 2016 the Chapel has ceased to be a classroom.

However, we have noted that the chapel needs to be renovated due to cracks in the walls and lack of maintenance over the years.

We will be appealing to Santaclausians to assist us with funding to put the St. Nicholas chapel back to its former glory after which a
consecration and re-dedication service will be held to cleanse the edifice.

Efforts are been made to reclaim the classrooms converted to dormitories soon.

Support for the School's New Clinic

Hello Fellow Santaclausians,

As we have discussed on WhatsApp, the Santa 91 year group are putting up a new clinic at the school on the way to the armoury.

I committed to finding as many of us Santa doctors as possible and encourage us to support the project. Kindly spread the word to other you know and add
them to this email.

As at now they require about GHC 40,000. to complete the structure and purchase some equipment.

I informed their leadership that i would find out what we could do.

I suggest we could purchase some equipment: weighing scales, blood pressure monitors, stethoscopes, beds and cabinets, I was informed recently by the
school that they need nebulisers.

We can also contribute a cash donation towards the items or actually purchase the items and donate that. The key issue is that we as doctors
want to make a unique contribution.

The speech day is on 12th of March 2016.

We are open to any and all suggestions. The final discussion is just beginning

The following and individuals and Energy/Year Groups have made financial

The NEC gave a June, 2015 deadline for year groups to make good their
commitments. Sadly we only a few year groups have made part payment.

We are once again appealing to all Santaclausians to support this worthy
cause. This is our one and only College. We must support and maintain
our structures.

Hon. Kojo Yankah coming to the USA

Message to AOBA-NA

Ref: TCON with Hon. Yankah

Fellow Santas, Hon Kojo Yankah will be in Atlanta from August 8 till 21, 2015.
He is the current President of the National Executive Committee of AOBA in Ghana.
This is the umbrella body for the associations in Ghana.

While in US we have an opportunity to have dialogue with him so he shares his vision and plans with
Santas in the Diaspora who are stakeholders in whatever initiatives are planned for the school.
The key project right now is the school fence, and the fundraising drive for it is ongoing.
We are certain that donors will want assurances about accountability and transparency, etc.,
before pulling out their check books. To this end, we will be having a conference call on August 13, 2015,
for all the Santas in the Diaspora to call and engage Hon. Yankah.

1990 Year Group - Best Adisco Teacher in the USA

Fellow Santaclausians!

On behalf of the 1990 year group, I will like to express my most profound
gratitude to all who helped to make the visit of Ms. Faustina Mensah,
the Adisadel College best teacher, such a great success. The Santa spirit of generosity,
matchless camaraderie, the unrelenting zeal to do good and selflessness shone brightest
and highest in this past week. Although initiated by the 90 year group, Ms. Mensah's
trip was fully embraced by AOBA-NA and they took it to the hilt. The president, Mr. Kojo Ocran,
has simply been a class act. He went beyond the call of duty to ensure that the best teacher
would have a stay in the DC area that is worthy of honor to our great Alma Mater and he and
his team surpassed all expectations. He even commandeered his brother, Mr. Ekow Ocran,

Outstanding acts of generosity such as those shown by Mr. Taju Tempo, Mr. Kofi Osei and
Mr. Quainoo Wilmot overwhelmed Teacher Mantey (that's a name she was given by Mr. Nat Akafia;
she later said she was beginning to like the name). Mr. Albert Mensa-Wood, Mr. Kwaku Sarfo,
Mr. Nat Akafia, Professor Atuahene, Mr. Thomas Addison, Mr. Perry Mason, Mr. Yalley-Ogunro,
Mr. Alexandria Amuah and Dr. Kofi Boadu-Ansah are among many who either joined in the events
of the past week or came up with great ideas to give a treat to her. Mr. George Arthur,
Mr. Henry Osei and Mr. Makafui Tsikata were among the Santaclausians who also took some
critical action to bring this to frution. These are all testimonies to the passion of
men from The Hill who will do everything in their power or go beyond their capacity to
guard and lift higher the prestigious name of Adisadel College.

The objective of the award is to serve as an incentive for teachers to give their best in Santa City -
I beleive, together we have set the ball rolling in the right direction.

Today Ms. Faustina Mensah heads to Atlanta where she will stay till her final departure to Ghana on August 8.

Fellow Santaclausians, The NEC is delighted to inform you Ms. Faustina Mensah who was adjudged the Best Teacher of the College at the just ended Speech and prize giving day is currently in the USA for a months visit. The NEC as a means of motivating the staff at the college to give off their best initiated this move which was gladly accepted and sponsored by the 1990 Year Group. It must be stated that the host, AOBA-NA led by it's president Mr. Kojo Ocran played a key role in securing her visa. The collaboration between the NEC, AOBA-NA and the 1990 Year Group is worth mentioning. She has so far visited the following institutions: Monday 7/20 - Visit to Mount Vernon, George Washington Estate. Also, Ms. Mensah sat in Edward Atuahene's class at Strayer University. she was accompanied by Kojo Onumah Tuesday 7/21 - Visit to Eleanor Rosevelt High School in Lanham/Greenbelt Maryland, Blair High School and University of Maryland. Ms. Mensah was accompanied by Mr. Kofi Osei and Taju Tempo The following is her schedule for the next few days: Wednesday 7/22 - Visit to Smithsonian in Washington DC, Howard University Friday 7/24 (7.00 pm) - Happy Hour at Mango Cafe with all Santaclausians. Saturday 7/25 (3 pm sharp!) - Cruise on the Potomac River with Santaclausians and family. Sunday 7/26 - Ms Mensah leaves for Atlanta. The NEC and AOBA-NA are working to maintain this visits and foster partnership with High schools for mutual benefits. We hope this trip will improve the morale of teaching staff and students. The AOBA-NA Executive team wishes to inform you that the Black Santa Night event (previously scheduled for July 4, 2015)
has been postponed till next Memorial Day Weekend. This unfortunate turn of events is due to circumstances beyond our control.
This has affected our ability to use the intended venue. At this late stage, finding an alternate venue has proven futile. Hence,
the Planning team deemed it appropriate to postpone the Black Santa Night activities.

AOBA-NA hopes to make up for these developments with a line-up of events during this Labor Day weekend (September 6, 2015).
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the postponement of this year's Black Santa night event.
Meanwhile, we will like to remind you that there will be a soccer match between Old Boys of Adisadel College and

Dave Godfrey Passes Away

Fellow Sanatclausians,

The NEC wishes to bring to your attention the death of Dr. David
Godfrey, a Canadian English teacher at Adisadel College in the 1960s
and the founder of the famous Adisadel Jazz Club.

He passed away in British Columbia, Canada on 22 June. Dave was an
iconic figure in the annals of the school. His initiative in setting up
the Adisadel Jazz Club, the first secondary school jazz band in Ghana,
ushered in a new era of student bands that swept across the country.
Adisadel went on to produce some of the best musicians in Ghana.

Subsequently, he assisted many of the band members (John Djokoto, Ricky
Telfer, Dr. Sam Mensah) to join him in Canada.

Burial is scheduled for this weekend. We would entreat Old Boys in
Canada who can make it to represent the Adisadel Family.

A tribute to be read at his funeral will be circulated soon.

Up Santaclausians,

In the past few years it has been a regular thing for me to do on this date, to remind my mates of the 1976 year group who were in the "arts" classes of form 5A and 5D, who took economics that this is the date in 1976 that we all sat our last paper. If I remember rightly, we were reimbursed an amount of some C35.00 (real money), which we jokingly nicknamed 35 million (we should have gone into the fortune telling business), which was given to us at the window of the bursars office, next to the headmaster's office on the ground floor of the administration block.

After getting ready and dressing up, many of us went to Savoy Hotel opposite Kingsway and had a good meal. During the meal, we were met by some more students who joined us in the disco which was also in the Hotel. Oh what a night, yes, truly a night to remember!! I would like to take this occasion to wish my mates of the 1976 year group a happy anniversary.

Today this date is all the more poignant as I have just received the news that Mr Dekowski, the owner of the Savoy group of hotels and father of Salim of Quaque House, our junior by two years, has just passed away on this special date of ours. I am sure that you will permit me through this medium, to offer him and his family our condolences, on behalf of the year group.

Salim may your father rest in peace.

Dear Santaclausians,

The funeral of the late Mrs Comfort Orleans-Pobee brought all of us together so beautifully.

We were energized by the fusion of all the Year Groups proudly united in rendering the School Ode and the School Anthem.

On behalf of the National Executive Committee, I wish to thank you all, and urge ALL Old Boys to stand firm and united under the banner of the AOBA.

This year, we have set ourselves the following goals :

1. To acquire Office Space/Club House to facilitate our meetings and get-togethers;

2. To have an Office to serve as our permanent Secretariat;

3. To strengthen our Energy/Year/Regional Groups;

4. To maintain strong links with our Branches in the diaspora;

5. To maintain fiscal discipline;

6. To maintain healthy relations with the Board of Governors, PTA, and Management of the School;

7. To support on-going projects at the School;

8. To initiate the construction of an Alumni Building on the School campus to house an Alumni Office;

9. To generate constructive ideas to assist in the governance of Adisadel College.

The death is announced of the late Mrs. Comfort Maku Orleans Pobee, which sad event occurred on Friday 27th March, 2015.

She was the wife of Mr. R. T Orleans Pobee, Santaclausian of the Century and former Headmaster of Adisadel College from 1963 - 1974.

Fellow Santaclausians, The number one priority project for 2015 for Adisadel College is the Fencing of the entire school lands.This has become very necessary due to the alarming rate of encroachment on the school lands. If care is not taken, there will be virtually no lands left for development on the Hill. The NEC is therefore calling on qualified Santaclausian contractors to put in their bids for the Fencing project. Contractors are to submit detailed costing, quantities and project plans to the NEC secrtariat. The NEC wishes to bring to the attention of all members that it is illegal to trade with the Adisadel Logo and trademarks. This is the Intellectual property of the College which has been registered as such and therefore a criminal offense to trade without permission. All individuals, Santaclausians and corporate bodies must contact the NEC secretariat for the appropriate permit to be granted for the use of the IP rights for commercial activities. Year groups must apply to the NEC before using the logo. A standardized logo design for all souvenirs, paraphernalia and memorabilia has been designed for use of all year groups and for commercial production. Offenders will be dealt with according to the laws of Ghana. New logo's will be outdoor-ed during the speech day. we wish to state that monies raised from the granting of permission to use the logo and trademark will used for projects within the school. Happy Easter to you all. Praying that the Risen Christ has renewed our strength and the Eternal Victory won for us by His Scared Blood will be manifest in our lives and families in various ways.
On behalf of the leadership of the AOBA North America, I wish to notify you all about the upcoming 2014 Memorial weekend activities being organized in the Washington DC area.
The Congress will be by teleconference, allowing Santaclausians from anywhere in the world to call in to participate and call-in details will be published in a short while.

Adisadel College Places 7th. in 2013 WASSCE Results

The Mount Carmel Girls' Senior High School in the Brong Ahafo Region topped the 2013 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) by scoring 100 per cent in the examination.

The school was followed by Wesley Girls' Senior High in Cape Coast which had 99.60 per cent and the Tepa Senior High chool, with 99.55 per cent placed third.

According to the rankings compiled by the Statistics, Research, Information, Management andPublic Relations (SRIMPR) Division of the Ministry of Education, all the 56 candidates presented by the Mount Carmel SHS had between A1 and C6, giving the school a 100 per cent score.

However, in the case of the Wesley Girls' SHS, 741 out of the 744 candidates it presented for the exam had between A1 and C6, thereby scoring 99.60 per cent.

The rankings of the performance of the schools also indicated that the Koforidua Senior High Technical School with 99.39 per cent took the fourth place. Kade Day Senior High Technical School scored 99.34 per cent in fifth place and the St. James Seminary had 99.29 per cent and placed sixth.

The Adisadel College took the seventh place with 99.05 per cent. Maranatha Business SHS took the eighth place with 99.02 per cent while the St Francis Xavier Seminary took the ninth place with 98.99 per cent and the Ghana Lebanon Islamic SHS placed 10th with 98.73 per cent.

Highlights from the 2014 Congress of Old Boys

This was discussed and approved at the 2014 Congress of Old Boys during the speech day last Saturday 8th March, 2014.

Key Highlights for us are the following

The NEC is financially challenged. we have been appealing to Old Boys to assist. we would want to believe that all will support our activities rather than just a few always supporting us.
There is power in numbers. We cannot afford to rely on the same people all the time. We all are santaclausians. Let the Santa spirits in us be seen.

This is a call to duty. As stated in earlier mails, Adisadel Old Boys Association has no official secretariat. The NEC this year, is aiming to get an official secretariat so as to
ensure that Old Boys have access to the NEC and purchase souvenirs and paraphernalia.

We are aiming to revive the Adisadel - Mfantsipim fan games.

Our annual dinner dance will definitely come off this November. prepare your dancing shoes.

Our call for financial support is yielding some fruits, but it is not enough. Let us all support the NEC to better position our alma mater.

1964 Year Group - Golden Jubilee Celebrations

The 1964 Year Group of the Adisadel Old Boys Association will be celebrating 50 years of their departure from the Hill.
In 1960, 103 gallant young men entered the great College. They were imbibed with the traditions of the school. Knowledge was impacted.
1964, the year of their departure, they left the Hill as Men, a fare cry of their entry.
Today, we can attest that the investment of their parents and government in their education yielded the desired results.
All over the world, they have added to the gains of our forebears.

Let us join them has they once again give back to our Alma Mater during the speech day 104th celebration.

The NEC is encouraging all year groups to celebrate anniversaries of such nature.

It has come to the attention of the Adisadel Old Boys' Association – North America (AOBA) that a number of allegations are being made about matters concerning our Alma Mater. It is our opinion that the manner in which these allegations are handled will reflect the levels of probity and accountability advocated and practiced by the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, the Anglican Church, Board of Governors and PTA of Adisadel College.

It is also in these times that character and conduct are tested, and integrity is either given a seat at the table of governance or shown the door. AOBA is confident that all the stakeholders will rise to this occasion and get to the bottom of this matter. Today, it is Adisadel College; tomorrow, it could be another great institution in our Motherland.

We demand accountability and probity from every individual and group that represents Adisadel College. In the pursuit of truth and justice, we ask for diligent investigations into all allegations made, and recommend that any person(s) found to be culpable should be appropriately sanctioned to serve as a deterrent. However, if no one is found culpable, we also expect the necessary apologies to be rendered to person(s) unjustly accused. Ultimately, what we seek are concrete answers and solutions.

This is our chance to set precedents, as we have always done, in such matters. We must not fail those who have vested their trust and hopes in us. Adisadel College, built upon ideals of excellence and self-reliance, is an enduring image of a self-cleansing community. Throughout our history, we have rallied to the rescue of our Alma Mater whenever threats rose from within and without. We ask that, in these times, the image and legacy of our Alma Mater be kept intact.

Adisadel College is bigger than any individual or group of people. It is an integral part of our identity. It is an educational gemstone for Ghana. We intend to keep it so.

Report on 2013 Dinner Dance - Congratulations all

Fellow Santaclausians, The NEC wishes to thank all who supported and attended the Dinner Dance last Saturday 30th November 2013 at the La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

I must say it was a wonderful event as pictures attached to this mail will attest to.

All who attended the event were very pleased.

The Dinner Dance has come to stay. please start preparing for next year as it will be much bigger than this year's. To all who bought tickets and attended, we say God richly bless you, we shall meet again to wine and dance next year. To those who bought tickets but were unable to attend, We thank you very much and hope to see you next year. To those who didn't patronize the ticket sale, we want to see you next year. buy your dancing shoes and make sure you come with your partner.

The NEC prepared for about 150 Old Boys based on promises and calls to NEC members for ticket reservations, however most people did not turn up.

NEC is therefore appealing to well-meaning and generous Santaclausians to assist with their widows mite to ensure that we are at all times financially solvent.

Mr. Opare: Donations and Contributions Towards Funeral

Fellow Santaclausians:

This is a call to stand up to honor; we lost our beloved Assistant Headmaster Mr. Opare in a gory accident that occurred at Apam Junction on the Accra-Cape Coast Road.

He left behind a young family, a wife and two (2) kids. This is a very sad and heartbreaking event.

We hereby appeal to the Santaclausian Family to open their hearts and send their generous donations to support the family in their time of pain and grief. We have set up a funeral committee to plan, manage and execute a be-fitting send-off for Mr Opare that will celebrate his love and immense contribution to our Alma mater.

Glenn Gillespie Warren (Year Group '68), master drummer of the famous Adisadel Jazz Band and son of Kofi Ghanaba Guy Warren passed away on 13 December 2011. Burial is planned for 28 January 2012. Santaclausians are kindly invited to make a contribution to Glenn's funeral.

Adisadel Foundation (USA) Donates to Alma Mater

Graham (Headmaster - left) to signify the completion of the dedicated water pipeline project at Adisadel College. The project was funded by the ADISADEL FOUNDATION in the USA. Looking on is the Rt. Reverend D.S.A. Allotey (Anglican Bishop of Cape Coast and Chairman of Water and Sanitation Project Committee).

A major challenge at Adisadel College in recent times was the irregular flow of potable water to the School from the Ghana Water Company (GWC) main supply pipeline. The problem was caused by private developers who had made many connections from private homes to the 50mm GWC pipeline serving the School’s underground reservoir. To overcome this challenge, the Parent-Teacher Association requested Mr. Emmanuel Gardiner of Emsgard Ltd a contractor already engaged on some projects in the School to contact the Ghana Water Company for technical advice on how to improve the water supply situation.

A document prepared jointly by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the Ghana Water Company and Mr Emmanuel Gardiner was sent to Santaclausians worldwide including the Adisadel Foundation in the USA. The Foundation is a group of old boys (Santaclausians) resident in the USA, who have been providing financial assistance to support projects at Adisadel College. The Foundation, recognizing the immense contributions that the PTA had made to the School through its activities over the past 2 years therefore agreed to provide funds for the upgrading of a 50mm pipeline to 100mm from the 225mm Ghana Water Company mains along the Accra-Takoradi Highway. An amount of $18,590 (GH₵27, 872.50) being the estimated cost of the project was channeled through the PTA for the project which has been completed. The final cost upon completion increased to $24,707.36 (GH₵34,590.30) due to relocation of the underground pipeline as a result of a change in the point of connection to the Ghana Water Company’s 225mm main pipeline. – Source Daily Graphic, December 29^th , 2012.

Wife lost battle with breast cancer, but we're consoled by the knowledge that her faith in God's grand design for her life remained strong and unwavering to the very end.

One of the three winners of last month’s male category of the Exopa-NEWS-ONE monthly Fashion Café has called on young persons who have an interest in modeling not to get discouraged by public criticisms but rather go ahead and explore their potentials. “Maybe we have not read much about modeling but it is big business in other parts of the world and I do not see why we should not grow our modeling industry in Ghana. There have been times we have brought in foreign models to work in Ghana and paid them good money. This means that there is a market for models in Ghana so we must train ourselves to take over that market,” Kelvin Agyei-Mensah, a 19-year-old graduate of Adisadel College, told NEWS-ONE. Press Release from Adisadel Old Boys Association (AOBA)

WASHINGTON D.C. (June 13, 2011): The Adisadel Old Boys' Association (AOBA) has been monitoring, with grave concern, the series of accusations, slanderous and unsubstantiated remarks against this great educational institution over the past three weeks.

The AOBA finds the sexual molestation of any minor as reprehensible, and supports the prosecutions of such offenders to the fullest extent of the law. Additionally we share the concerns of all well meaning Ghanaians, especially parents with children at the numerous boarding institutions in the country in strongly condemning the alleged behavior of a former Mathematics teacher at Adisadel College.

Adisadel College, like all other public institutions in Ghana operates under the guidelines of the Ghana Educational Services (GES) and draws from a pool of teachers certified by the GES. It must also be noted that the alleged Mathematics teacher was hired from another educational institution under the hiring guidelines instituted by the GES, which required among other things a release letter from the headmaster of that school.

AOBA wishes to inform the general public that, the fact that the alleged molester is in police custody after two terms at Adisadel College is indicative of the moral aptitude of an Adisadel College student who reported the alleged abuse to the school authorities, and the quick action of the school authorities in reporting the incident to the Cape Coast police department.

Additionally, we are deeply troubled by the fact that the alleged child molester spent nine years at the previous school, another all male boarding institution as a mathematics teacher, and was cleared for posting at Adisadel College.

The Ghanaian media's fixation on the case in relation to Adisadel College is of grave concern to AOBA, because, it only leads to further neglect of the victims in this case. We strongly recommend that the GES employ the services of a qualified Psychologist to undertake a thorough psychological examination of the victims to prevent permanent damage.

This issue was subject to intense deliberation at the just ended AOBA-North America Annual Congress in May, at which the executive body resolved to stand 100% behind every effort to get to the bottom of this matter and promised to demand more accountability from every level of leadership in the school. The Association supports the immediate review of the teacher hiring process at Adisadel College. In addition to the hiring guidelines of the Ghana Education Service, AOBA strongly suggests the institution of an internal teacher-quality assurance program to ensure not only excellence in teaching and administration, but that of fiduciary and moral responsibility.

Quoting the motto of the school, Vel Primus Vel Cum Primis, (which means, Either the first or with the first), AOBA collectively pushed back against accusations that the school is spiraling out of control. 'The history of Adisadel College is that of self-reliance and communal accountability, 'and we seek to ensure, in many new ways, that Adisadel College performs above and beyond expectation.'

As to the criminal proceedings against the teacher, AOBA asks the general public to respect the due process of law. It also asks individuals to desist from impugning on the hard-earned reputation of the school with unsubstantiated reports.

The Adisadel Old Boys Association believes that Adisadel College has a lot to offer to the youth of Ghana and promises to help maintain the school's position as a major stakeholder in the new century of Ghanaian education. Concerned citizens and media should feel free to initiate contact.

Burial: Alfred Classpeter - Former Adisco Bookstore keeper passes on...

Mr. Alfred Classpeter passed on to eternal glory this month (May 2011) in Cape Coast. He is the father of Ato Classpeter and was a retired colonial army officer and a retired Stores and Bookshop Keeper of Adisadel College. May his soul rest in peace. A celebration of his life was held at No. 19, Pedu Estates, Cape Coast on Saturday May 28th, 2011.

Burial takes place in Cape Coast on Saturday 2nd. July 2011.

Edward Owoo (1977 year group) writes on a wall in FaceBook...."This is the guy who gave us all a chuckle, back in the days. l remember him as approachable, ready for a laugh and treating all of us equal and silly as teenagers are, never getting upset about our foolishness and ready to serve us. The Chairman and the Executive Committee of the Old Boys Associaition (AOBA-UK) will like to thank all who contributed generously towards the appeal for funds in order to make a donation to the family of the late Mr. Kweku Erskine, who passed away on 19th. September 2011 in Accra.

An amount of £500 (eqv. 12million old cedis) was donated to the family in Accra on behalf of the UK Association, by Dr Osei -Yaw Dickson at the funeral/memorial service on 21st. October 2011.

Comments: Foul-Mouthed Politicians and ADISCO's Day of Shame!

When I read this feature this morning I was filled with anger for the simple reason that the young writer failed to prove that ADISCO endorsed the use of foul language in politics by asking Hon Kennedy Agyapong give a guest lecture. Even more annoying is his failure to show that Hon Kennedy Agyapong used foul language against politicians in his delivery of his guest speech. Of course I have my own views about the behaviour of Hon Kennedy Agyapong in our politics. However, let's focus on the linkage that this writer seeks to create between the endorsement of the use of foul language in politics and ADISCO's invitation to Kennedy Agyapong to deliver the guest speech. I don't know what line of action, if any, can be taken against this journalist. For good reasons I have copied the journalist Mr Azure who happned to be someone that I admired, and even commended, for his work, until now.

The support of the inviter school is embedded in the invitation. I agree with Mr. Robert Brown the school should work harder at screening who they invite to speak at such august functions at Adisco!

What I find baffling is why Adisadel College earned the spot in the heading. It is surprising that non of the other institutions (political parties, media houses, parliament etc.) contained in the article was listed in the heading.

In addressing the issue of political decadence in Ghana, the key players should be the political parties from which the current crop of uncouth politicians evolve, and the media houses which seem to seek and promote the publicity of politicians who misconduct themselves. Picking on Adisadel College amongst the lot is rather lame, making a potentially insightful article rather mediocre. In fact a better heading would have been: 'Political Decadence in the Ghanaian Society.'

So many of you extended yourselves - and your wallets - and so many traveled long distances to accompany us as we buried Otu's wife this past Saturday (and at the funeral service in Cleveland the Saturday before). It is, indeed, a blessing to have so many brothers.

The Oldest Old Boy alive - Mr. C.K.B. Tachie-Menson

The Oldest Old Boy alive, Mr. C.K.B. Tachie-Menson was 90 years old last two weeks. He was born in 1921 and entered Adisadel in 1933. He left in1940 after spending seven years at the College. While at Adisadel, He was the 1940 Cricket Team Captain and Knight House Prefect as well. Since 1941 to date, He has been an active member of the Old Boys Association. He is currently the President of the Cape Coast Branch. He was one of the pioneers who built the College for St. Nicholas Grammar School to move to Adisadel to become Adisadel College. His son as well as his grandson were all in Adisadel College. He is presently the known oldest Old Boy alive. For this reason the children organised a party for him to celebrate this nonagenarian anniversary. The date was Sunday 10th April, 2011at CNC, Cape Coast at 1:00p.m. This was preceeded by a Special Thanksgiving Service at 9:30 a.m at the Philip Quaque Anglican Church. Old Boys were invited.

James Kweku Erskine: 1964 Year Group, Hamlyn House

We have learnt with great sadness the passing away of James Kweku Erskine, Santaclausian, '64 Year Group, Hamlyn House.

Senior Erskine was very active in Adisadel affairs and in Adisadel Old Boys Associations in Ghana and abroad, particularly in the UK where he lived for a number of years in the eighties. An amiable character, Senior Erskine will perhaps be best remembered for his intimate knowledge of Santaclausians of all ages and rank and which Santaclausian was where and when.

He served on the Adisadel College National Centenary Planning Committee which planned the centenary anniversary celebrations of our great college and received a well-deserved award for "Services to Adisadel".

Below is a tribute by Jason Ofori to James Kweku Erskine. I would be grateful if you could publish it on Adisadelonline for the benefit of the wider Adisadel family.

Kweku Erskine: Prometheus Bound and Unbound!

A Remembrance.

The Erskine I knew was a free spirit. A gadfly in the purest sense. He knew it. He lived it. And he loved it. He was full of zest and lived life to it's fullest. He was born free and was seasoned, constrained and tempered in his days by the moderating influence of the Anglican Church. He was an acolyte.

I first met him on my first day at Adisadel in Hamlyn House. His name struck me as unusual. A black Ghanaian with a foreign sounding name! He had a bossing forehead with an old oblique scar. An obvious old battle scar. And with that he made sure that no one misunderstood that he was the straw that stirred the drink. He was adroit and confident of his point of view. He had a commanding and magnetic presence, always alert with an owl like roving eyes surveying and assessing his entire environment. His voice was sometimes strident but direct, inoffensive and without malice and effective. Yet at times he was as meek and apologetic as a pup. He always seemed to be in a hurry and appeared, deceptively, to be rushing through life. He had little tolerance for procrastination and diffidence. He had an uncanny intuition for where the next issue of importance or trouble would come from. And he was always ready!

He was passionate about his family, himself, his friends and his School. He partied hard and played harder. He made it his business to know all about the business of everyone around him - I was impressed with his encyclopedic knowledge of every single individual at or connected to Adisadel, more than 1000 strong, during our time there, students, teachers, workers, Board members and all -and though he seemed not to care, everyone around him knew about his business too. And that suited him fine.

The last time I saw him at the centennial celebrations at Adisadel, to my consternation, he had figuratively been cut down- legs amputated-he had literally worn them out strutting the globe, but with his fulgent, iridescent spirit that was every bit alive, tantalizing and kaleidoscopic, he lifted me and my spirit up.

He was an agriculturalist. His Specialty was Grains. He brought the technology of high yield grain production to subsistence farmers across the globe. Through this he brought life and hope to mankind!

His entropic, sophomoric and abidingly effervescent spirit was always brimming and yearning to surface. And it often did. For better or worse! His spirit and capacity could not be constrained by arbitrary societal prescriptions. And many times, to his credit, and less often to his regret, but more often to our benefit, he relentlessly pursued and pushed the constraining boundaries to brake free and and touch the face of fate with one hand and providence with the other! And for that, to me, a classmate, a housemate and a friend, he was indeed Promethian!

Feature: Foul-Mouthed Politicians and ADISCO's Day of Shame!

“My brothers and sisters, when you switch on our TVs, or our radio, you will think that Ghana is at war. Many of us are engaged in politics of insults. Insults will not help us to produce water.

Insults will not create jobs; insults will not bring about the peace and harmony that we need to develop. Are we going to spend our time hurling insults at one another whiles we leave the development of the country unattended to?"

This was President John Evans Atta-Mills speaking with uncharacteristic passion when he launched the Tema-Accra railway service in Tema last year.

It is said that the mouth of an elderly person may be without teeth, but it is never without wisdom. But the same cannot be said of politicians in Ghana. In 2010 it was as though an intra-party and inter-party foul language competition was in ongoing; and our politicians and their disgruntled party boys and girls were trying to outwit one another.

We regret to announce the passing of HENRIETTA ASANTE-HUGHES "HERTTY", age 41, wife of Otu Hughes (Santa: Elliot, 1985).

Funeral arrangements will be as follows:

Memorial service - Cleveland Ohio, USA

There will be a memorial service on Saturday Apr 9th at the funeral home in Westlake, OH at 12 noon. The body will be available for viewing from 10am till just before the service. The service should last for about an hour to be followed by refreshments thereafter. It has been designed to allow for a day-trip where necessary. The funeral home is McGORRAY-HANNA FUNERAL HOME OF WESTLAKE, 25620 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, OH (W of Columbia). Friends may call in at the funeral home on Friday, April 8th between 2pm and 8pm.

Burial - Accra Ghana

Hertty will be buried in Accra, Ghana on the 16th April 2011 preceeded by a funeral service at the Osu North Presby Church (near Danquah Circle). Program will start at 7a.m with pre-burial viewing till about 9a.m when the burial service will commence. Thereafter she will be laid to rest at the Osu Cemetery in Accra.

Reception will follow immediately at the Dubois Centre at Cantonments near the American Embassy.

Adisadel College wins constitution quiz

Cape Coast, Jan.28, GNA - Adisadel College emerged winners of this year's 9th edition of the “constitution game competition” in the Central Region.

Adisadel bagged 18 points to beat Assin North Senior High School (SHS) which came second with 16 points, followed by Edinaman SHS with 12 points.

The competition is organized annually by the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) for second cycle institutions in the Central Region to help broaden the knowledge of students on the constitution.

Diaso SHS, Boa Amponsem SHS, Winneba Business School, Awutu Emasa SHS, Assin North SHS, Aburaman SHS, Edinaman SHs and Adisadel College participated in the competition.

Santa 86 Fundraising - Refurbishing the Science Labs

SANTA86 FUNDRAISING: IN AID OF REFURBISHING ADISADEL COLLEGE'S SCIENCE LABORATORIES

Members of the 1986-year group of Adisadel College (also known as SANTA 86) on the occasion of our 25th anniversary and the celebration of the 101st Speech and Prize-giving day of our alma mater have decided to undertake a project in appreciation and honour of our great College. The objective of our project is to re-equip and modernize the various science laboratories in the school to improve teaching and learning in science. The estimated cost of the project is One Hundred and Fifty Thousand US Dollars (150,000.00 USD). Our members have committed to providing a third of this amount from our individual sources.

It is against this background that we are appealing for donations either in cash or in kind to make the project a success. Any donation from you will be greatly appreciated as it will go a long way in facilitating our desire to procure various science equipment and chemicals for the Physics, Chemistry and Biology Laboratories. It will also help with renovation works that we intend to carry out in the main Laboratory block. The group has set the date for the inauguration of the refurbished laboratories at the next speech and prizes giving day on March 12, 2011.

NASA Space Shuttle Launch - Live Stream @ Adisco website

For our students with an interest in space technology, there is a live feed on the next launch of the Space Shuttle at the Adisadal College website (www.adisadelcollege.net). The event was scheduled for Friday at 11:00 EDT (i.e. 3:00pm in Ghana).

Update: Sunday May 1st., CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — The space shuttle Endeavour's launch to the International Space Station has been put off for at least a week, due to a troublesome glitch with an onboard heater system, NASA said. The planned scheduled event is now set for at least Sunday May 8th.

With approval from the Great Santaclausian Izo's sister Joyce Asamoah, based in the United Kingdom, we deeply regret to announce the death of Samuel "Izo" Osei Williams - Jubilee House 1970-1977 (75 Year Group)

Funeral service will be held Sunday December 26, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Roy Davis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Crawford officiating.

The family will recieve friends Sunday from noon until time of service. Mr. Samuel Osei Williams, age 54 of Powder Springs, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Regina Williams; son, Michael Williams of Powder Springs; daughter, Denise Williams of Powder Springs; mother, Rose Arthur of Ghana; brothers, Osei TuTu of Ghana, Emmanuel Asamoah of NJ; sisters, Grace Osei TuTu of Boston, Mary Asirifi of Ghana, Elizabeth Asamoah of Ghana, Joyce Asamoah of UK.

Izo was popular during his Adisco days especially during the Inter-College events where he brought so much joy to Santaclausians and generally all of Cape Coast because of his speed in the sprint events. In 1976 Adisco won the Cape Coast champions with a team (see below) that beat Kwabotwe as they celebrated their centenary....it was a great achievement!

SANTA-MOGA old students to be thrilled by 100 n 50 degrees of fun

The old students association of Adisadel College and Mfantsiman Secondary School, SANTA-MOGA will converge for special anniversary celebrations dubbed 100 N 50 Degrees of Fun on November 6. The event, scheduled for Intercontinental Bank Head Office Car Park by Accra Sport Stadium would be a fun packed celebration of Adisadel College’s 100th Anniversary and Mfantsiman’s 50th. According to organizers, the purpose of the event is to re-unite the SANTA-MOGA spirit and uplift the existing bond between the two schools. The occasion shall also be used in promoting HIV|/AIDS prevention, Safe Sex and also Family Planning which will serve as a social responsibility from the two schools to the general public.

Fellow Santaclausians,

All too soon, another year has caught up with us and Adisadel College, the Alma Mater of Great Men, is gearing up to celebrate her 101st birthday on that Great Hill. This, clearly seen, is the work of the Most High God who inspired the Founding Fathers with the vision to establish Adisadel College on such a solid christian foundation. Yes, the storms have been really tempestuous but Adisadel has stood her ground because of the mighty hand of the Creator which is on her. This college, has not only lived up to her motto "vel primus vel cum primis" but has been a vibrant, viable and reliable industry always taking in "raw human beings" and passing them through her efficient processes to produce men of integrity, nobility, distinction and dependability who become great assert and much sought after in all fields of endeavour.

On Saturday, the 12th of March, 2011, Adisadel College will celebrate her 101st Speech and Prize-Giving Day and the theme for the occasion is "Demonstrating the Adisadel Spirit in all fields of endeavour". This momentous occasion is going to be so significant for two reasons. One, being the beginning of yet another Adisadel century and two, marking the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary (seventy-five years) of migrating from the original Topp Yard in the heart of Cape Coast town to the present site of Adisadel on the HILL.

One distinquishing feature that is going to characterize the celebration is the array of only Outstanding Santaclausians who will take the centre stage in all the performances. The Guest Speaker is Honourable Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin North and a Santaclausian of the '81 Year Group. To grace the occasion with his noble presence as the Guest of Honour is Osabarima Kwesi Atta II Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area who is also another distinguished son of this Great College.

On Sunday, the 13th of March, 2011, there would be the Founder's Day Service and the Guest Preacher for this special day is another Santaclausian who willingly submitted to the calling on his life and took to the Holy Orders; Rt. Rev. John Kwamina Otoo, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Sekondi. The usual Cement Party immediately after the service will also feature prominently.

To pay homage to the college and make her proud is the '86 Year Group of Santaclausians, who took over the baton from the '85ers at last year's speech with a firm promise to deliver. They have consequently taken up the rehabilitation of the three Science Laboratories and in addition, furnish them with Modern Science Equipment. The Guest Speaker, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, as a way of doing exploits and adding to the gains of the forefathers is fully funding the construction of a three-storey dormitory block that can conveniently accommodate over four hundred and fifty students. Other details of this New House would be made available in the next edition.

This kind and noble gesture by Ken, is a glean from the work of Dr. Sir Sam Jonah who became the first Santaclausian ever to have come to the support of the college at a time when congestion in the dormitories had assumed alarming proportions in the early 90s. May the good Lord grant many more Santaclausians the enablement to take up similar challenges to make Adisadel College proud. Adisadel College is now blessed with a crop of young and talented Santaclausians who will perform at the 101st Speech, Prize-Giving and Founder's Day celebrations as the SANTA REGIMENTAL BAND.

The vision of the Headmaster has now become a reality and the college will no longer go hiring KWABOTWE- MFANTSIPIM , CAPE TECH, BOYS BRIGADE and the town folk bands to perform with the Adisco Cadet or at sporting festivals and processions. HURRAY! ! ! This of course, has come at a great cost to the school and our expectation is that Old boys and well wishers will come to support in defraying it. Adisadel College has come of age and all hands must be on deck as we propel her on to the new century which has started in earnest.

He also provides his own, unofficial, eye witness account on scenes, personalities and key activities of the centenary week (July 12-18, 2010) in Cape Coast. He then describes and reflects on what the centenary celebration’s planning and execution might tell us about the nature and quality of the ‘bond’ between Santaclausians and their Alma Mater. Here below, a few short excerpts from the paper.

“Great and distinguished academic institutions are known and defined by two attributes: 1)The School’s outstanding human and material resources, most notably its teachers , and 2)The quality of its Alumni and the bond that exists between the Alumni and the School.”

“The author encountered many 1960s Santaclausians in Cape Coast during the Centenary week (July 12-18) at Adisadel. They were there to provide a strong visual, vocal, moral and material support to Adisadel. Above all, they had come to support the extremely important national mission of educating the citizens of Ghana. The Centenary Celebration was, first and foremost, a salute to the triumph of education, and to Adisadel as one important piece in the educational puzzle in Ghana! “

At the Wednesday evening’s Gospel Night:

“Soon, a long and meandering line of Santaclausian dancers, some in their 70s, 60s, 50s, 40s, and 30s, were energetically dancing their way majestically and beautifully in a perfectly choreographed manner. The younger crowd was ecstatic. The Choir and musicians performing on stage were electrified. The “ancient and old” Santaclausians were amazed at themselves…. And a good time was had by all!”

“ A specially commissioned Adisadel centenary cloth had been printed for sale. As a result, there was a particularly remarkable and very moving atmosphere at the Sunday morning’s Centenary Church Service. Santaclausians, spouses, parents, children, siblings, friends…. many were looking quite resplendent in their Adisadel Centenary clothing (Men’s’ full length cloths, Women’s kaba and skirt, Agbadas and Joromi shirts, men’s shirts, all cut from the Adisadel centenary cloth!). “

Centenary Fellowships and Awards

Various Santaclausians and non-Santaclausians received awards at the recent Centenary Durbar held in Cape Coast. The awards presented fell into two broad categories – “Acquired Awards” or Fellowships and “Earned Awards” or Centenary Awards

Recipients of fellowships qualified on the basis of certain minimum cash contributions they made to the Adisadel College Centenary Fund.

In selecting recipients of the Centenary Awards the Awards Sub-Committee of the National Centenary Planning Committee took as their guide the words of the School Ode:

“Up Santaclausians, stand up to honour those who have gilded the school with their fame”.

In other words, we are being enjoined to honour merit and achievement. Not only that, but those who have dedicated themselves to the cause of Adisadel.

I am humbled and honoured to be here today presenting the Keynote Address on this very special occasion. I must confess to feeling intimidated in the presence of His Excellency, the President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills and other distinguished guests including my former teachers and old Santaclausians who knew me in my original raw state, shorn of all the after-school accretions. There are countless others who fit the bill of keynote speaker better.

Naturally, I have asked myself what I could have done wrong to be saddled with this burden. Naturally also, the story of the biblical Jonah and the Whale comes to mind - somebody to be sacrificed; and who deserves to be thrown to the waves more than a contemporary Jonah?

One hundred years ago, when the SPG founded this school, their modest ambition was, in part, to educate the youth for the Anglican Christian Ministry. True to this goal, the school, which later moved to this location and became known as Adisadel College, has produced countless priests and bishops. But beyond personnel for the Christian ministry, the roll call of products of the school in other areas of both national and international endeavours will take hours to read. Cape Coast, Ghana, Monday 19th July 2010 - The scene and atmosphere in Cape Coast over the last week (12 - 18 July) and especially at Adisadel College was something that could be described as a historic centenary celebration, bringing together over 3,000 Santaclausians from around the globe. The Adisco campus was "painted" in the traditional black and white colours of the school as both current students and Old Boys (also known as Santaclausians) took part in a week long celebration of a school started on 4th. January 1910 called the School for the Propagation of the Gospel (SPG Grammar School).

This was an event that should not have been missed by any 'Santa'. Old Boys from the 1940s to the youngest ones who graduated in 2009 were at hand to grace the occasion. Classmates and housemates who have not seen each other in decades, revived old friendships and old tales - from their experiences as 'homos', seniors punishing juniors for minor issues, sports, classwork, experiences in the dinning hall, assemblies at the Canterbury Hall, voting for school prefects, picking up prizes at Speech Days, the bright ones, students who entered Form One as 'fathers', etc, etc, etc. Words are just not enough to describe the centenary experience...we are however, delighted to share with you pictures, videos and sound bites from the week of celebrations....

ADISCO in historic centenary celebration

The atmosphere at the Adisadel College in Cape Coast last Saturday was one that could be described as a historic centenary celebration, which brought people from all walks of life together at the rugged school compound, with black and white attire dominating all colours.

The rain had mercy upon both the national and local organising committees, which took into consideration a possible downpour, and held the climax at the school’s large dining hall, which was full to capacity.

Giant screens were mounted outside to enable those who could not enter the hall watch proceedings.

The whole compound was covered by thousands of old students, parents and invited guests and the clergy, thus making movement very difficult.

Important personalities such as Sir Dr. Sam Jonah, former president of Anglogold Ashanti, Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes, former Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Kojo Yankah, a former Central Regional Minister, and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, former Trade and Industry Minister, as well as Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, all alumni of the school, arrived at the function in grand style.

Dr. Sam Jonah: Under 2% of Ghanaian schools have access to ICT

Cape Coast, July 19, GNA - The Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr Sam Jonah, on Saturday disclosed that as compared to Singapore's 100 per cent and Malaysia's 14.7 per cent, only 1.4 per cent of schools in Ghana had access to Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).

He therefore called for massive investment into ICT in the country's educational sector to help accelerate the nation's development process, calling on students to take the study of ICT seriously as it was a determining factor in the current job market.

Adisadel Celebrates 100 Years

President John Evans Atta Mills over the weekend joined old students, students and staff of Adisadel College in Cape Coast in the celebration of their centenary anniversary.

Other guests included Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs) paramount chiefs, reverend ministers, security officials and other prominent personalities.

The anniversary was on the theme ‘Projecting the Adisadel Spirit into the Next Century.’

President John Evans Atta Mills hinted that his government was ready to create more educational opportunities and shape the curricula to meet the current educational needs of the country.

He added that government would also award scholarships to needy but brilliant students, especially in the area of science and technology.

He stated that government was expanding infrastructure in various institutions to manage the current infrastructural inadequacies, and called on the private sector to continue to support the educational sector, as government alone could not do that.

President Mills therefore advised students to study very hard and use the opportunity they had today to build a solid educational foundation that would benefit them in the years ahead.

“Your ability to break new grounds and open the doors of success will depend on the extent to which you take advantage of the quality education that Adisadel College can offer you,” he added.

President Mills used the occasion to acknowledge the ideas and principles that inspired the founding fathers to establish the college which had produced many prominent people for the country.

Adisadel students asked to rededicate themselves to ideals of founding fathers

Current and old students of the Adisadel College in Cape Coast, have been asked to rededicate themselves to the ideals and principles of the school’s founding fathers towards the sustenance of its achievements.

President John Evans Atta Mills, who made the call, said that Adisadel has a “successful and colourful story” as it had produced distinguished and prominent personalities, who have served and still serving in various fields of endeavours in Ghana and internationally.

The President was speaking at as a Special Guest of honour at the Centenary Durbar and Awards Day of the Adisadel College, in Cape Coast on Saturday.

He paid a glowing tribute to the founding fathers of the school as well as illustrious Old Boys of the educational institution including the three late chief justices Ghana: Justice Philip Archer, Justice Owiredu and Justice Acquah, saying that the country would forever be grateful to them.

The durbar climaxed the centenary celebration, which was on the theme: “Projecting the Adisadel Spirit into the Next Century”, was attended by a large crowd including prominent persons, most of them Old Boys of the school such as Mr. Kojo Yankah, president of the African University College of Communication.

A Big Thank You to all Santas who took part in the "mother of all route marches" as part of the centenary celebrations on Friday July 16th, 2010 at 5:00am.....it rained and the weather was not so great but that did not prevent over 50 Santas who woke up at dawn after the previous night's activities, parties and jama to take part in this historic march of the centenary. Preseident Mills at the Adisadel Centenary Celebrations

President John Evans Atta Mills, last Saturday, surprised the large crowd of people who gathered in the spacious Adisadel College Dining Hall, when he described an aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, as a political gentleman.

"I have known Alan as a gentleman for quite a long time and I will like to know what he did when he was a student here so that I can use it against him during campaign time since he is my opponent," President Mills said drawing thunderous laughter from the huge crowd.

President John Evans Atta Mills has stated that the government will as a matter of priority invest in the Ghanaian people.

This he says will be done by opening up more educational opportunities, shape syllabi to meet the exigencies of the time, create more conducive teaching and learning environment, and provide scholarships for needy students especially in the area of science education.

President Mills was speaking at the centenary durbar and awards day of Adisadel College over the weekend. He mentioned that already, government is vigorously expanding infrastructure in order to manage the current inadequacies, calling for the support of the private sector in that area.

The 100^th anniversary celebrations of Adisadel College brought together both past and present students of the school.

Notable among them were former CEO of AshantiGold, Dr. Sir Sam Jonah, NPP presidential aspirant Alan Kyeremateng, Assin North member of parliament, Ken Agyapong, and Greater Accra regional chairman of the rulling National Democratic Congress, Ade Coker, all past students of the school.

President Mills Informed Of Death Of "Operation Feed Yourself" Man

A family delegation from the Central Region on Wednesday informed President John Evans Atta Mills of the death of Colonel Frank George Bernasko (retd), former Commissioner for Agriculture.

Colonel Bernasko, known to have introduced the Operation Feed Yourself policy in the 1970s, was born on December 7, 1930. He hailed from Cape Coast and died in the United Kingdom on June 3, this year.

This cause of action became necessary as a result of problems we have had in the past few days. We appear to have invited unwanted attention from unsavory characters but this is a minor set-back that we are overcoming and it is our hope that it will not disrupt the plans we have for the Centenary Week as far as online access is concerned. Canterbury Hall to be used as a Dormitory

The decision to change the current 3-Year Program of the SSS/SHS to 4-Year Program has created problems for many schools in Ghana including our own Adisadel College. The current challenge in most Secondary Schools is to provide suitable and adequate accommodation and classroom facilities for the incoming Form 1 students. According to some information, the Ghana Government has provided some amount of money for the expansion of school facilities to meet these challenges. The proposed site in Adisco is an area behind the Knight House. As of my visit to the school on Saturday and Sunday, the area has been cleared and the project is to commence very soon. How soon? I do not know. Who has the fund? I do not know. Who is the contractor? I do not know. I cannot answer those questions because, I was more concerned about the dangers of the temporary arrangements and its possible consequences.

Adisadel Foundation Inc. (AFI) Reports on Donors and Donor Categories

The Adisadel Foundation Inc. (AFI) of the United States was established in 2003 for the purposes of promoting the welfare of Adisadel College and helping the school achieve its educational mission. It is an IRS-approved non-profit organization set up under section 501 (c) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Thus any donations made to the Foundation by U.S. tax payers are tax deductible.

The Foundation works with other Santaclausians organizations such as year groups and old boys associations to raise money and in-kind donations for the school. The funds go towards capital improvements, infrastructure repairs, teaching incentives, and other expenditures that help improve the quality of the educational experience at the school.

In its July 2010 report released before Centenary celebrations in July, AFI provides cumulative information on donations, projects that have been funded to-date, and its financial balance.

The above poem, presented as an Adisadel Centenary “Father's Day” poem, and written on ‘Fathers Day’ weekend, June 19, 2010, honors The Rev. Nathaniel Temple Hamlyn, Founding Father of Adisadel College, Cape Coast . The occasion is the year-long, 2010, Adisadel Centenary celebration.

The poem is dedicated to the late Ben Kofi Akumanyi (Quaque House, Class of 1965), who sadly passed away in 2009, and to the whole Adisadel Class of 1965.

By presenting a poem as part of the centenary celebration, I am attempting to evoke Ben Akumanyi’s love and passion for the spoken word, and for all things literary.

From his early years at Adisadel College in 1960, Kofi Akumanyi developed an enviable mastery of the English language, and after graduating from University of Ghana , Legon, went on to have a tremendously successful career as a Journalist in Ghana, and in later years, in Great Britain. May his soul rest in peace.

Update: Centenary Planning Committee (CPC) Updates Centenary Week Programme

Accra, Friday 11th June 2010 - The Centenary Planning Committee (CPC) has updated the programme lineup for the Centenary week and the Centenary weekend. This is the period from Monday July 12th. - Sunday July 18th.

It is expected to be the week for the "Home Coming" of Santaclausians to Adisadel College which will see the climax of the Centenary celebrations that started at the beginning of the year. The CPC anticipates a large number of Santaclausians (past and present) including parents, friends and acquaintances to participate in the final stretch of activities planned for Centenary.

Jose Nicco-Annan, Managing Director of RSS Developers Limited and Chairman of the CPC announced that following a number of requests for amendments, the Centenary Week Programme has been updated. The main changes to the advertised programme are:

1. The commissioning of the reconstructed Mercer Gate by the 1968 Year Group. This is planned for Friday, 16 July, from 2pm - 3pm.

2. A Global Congress for all Adisadel Old Boys Associations (AOBA) planned for Sunday, 18 July, from 12noon to 2pm.
The Global Congress is expected to bring together Santaclausians and AOBA bodies from around the globe to deliberate on an agenda for the AOBA that extends beyond this year's centenary celebrations. All Old Boys are invited to attend.
