The Renewal in The Catholic Church

Bangalore is the Rome of the East and a center of evangelization.

In 1967 a few students in a catholic university in Pittsburgh desired to seek the experience of the holy spirit for a personal and the renewal of the Church. Thus began " The Charismatic Renewal in the Catholic Church" (CCR) exists in over 230 countries in the world, having touched over 119 million members. The first National Leaders Conference was held in Bangalore in 1977.

The Bangalore Catholic Charismatic Renewal (BCCRS) comprises of both religious and the lay people. This film is about the BCCRS programs which fosters ambience of Love, Unity & Collaboration.

If you forget the whole bible but only remember this verse it is enough.

My experience of Grace

August 15th was more like a launch for Adonai films. It was program where the film was to be shown to over 800 people. On August 14th the film was at that stage were nothing was put together. All my concentration had gone into making promos. I heard a voice giving me a clear instructions (which I was told to write in my prophecy book). HE told me to put my entire effort and the Word of God (verses from the Bible) powerfully and to highlight the subsections (description of the various BCCRS programs) really well description.

The next day in the film was ready just 2 hours before screening. As I rushed to the venue there was a sigh of relief. I was i the control room waiting fir the film to be screened. I was told the format of the films does not match the laptop at the venue. So we downloaded the format and we could not see the film. But were not able to hear. Ultimately we realized that the audio cable s from the control room had an issue.. The film was played without an audio and what stood out most powerfully was only the word of God.

God is in Control session August 15, 2010 has been the largest audience for any screening that ADONAI films has had so far. I would have probably felt let down that the audio did not work. But there was amazing peace. This is the third time in life that I could understand what is grace of God..First being when I was laid off from Hp where I worked. ( If you have not read the article "My Walkin in the media". Would recommend yo to read)

All along I knew that is GREATEST VICTORY IS WHEN YOU CAN TAKE FAILURES GRACEFULLY.

The Light of the Lamp ( Jamanalal Bajaj Trust)

As year 2010 began I was asking the lord if he wanted me venture out into films for the NGO sector. In February, Mam Movies entrusted me with the film for the Jamanalal Bajaj Trust based in Sikar, Rajasthan. I was honored.

As a child I had heard about Shri Jamanalal Bajaj from my grand father. When I was doing research for the film I learnt about his humble and compassionate nature, his dedication to country and zeal for the change. Shri Jamanalal Bajaj was adopted as a grandson.

By the end of the research I had learnt something new " It does not matter where you are born but what is God’s plan for your life and it is the plan of the Almighty to place Shri Jamanalalji in such a home through which he could help the poor, work towards the freedom of the country and live as an icon to the business community (a person with absolute business ethics). Although the film was suppose to be about the activities of the trust. I would fail in my duties if I did not pay my tribute to a person who had dedicated his life to serving humanity.

I was asked to interview the Bajaj’s which was initially not in my agenda. This took me to their residence in Mumbai. I was reading my bible before the shoot and
I heard a voice which said "Do not keep it your bag keep it out".
I said ‘Marwadi family and business home and I am here for the task you have entrusted. I do not want anything to back fire’. The voice repeated “Keep your Bible out’and I heeded to the voice’.

It was bright day and as I waited for the Bajaj’s to arrive Mr. Apoorv Bajaj greeted me with a warm smile. He seemed to be very warm. I was at once put to ease by his gentleness, humbleness and grace. Mr Shishir Bajaj arrived and we now spent some time talking about his views and I could now visualize the contents of the film. During the interview he mentioned that Apoorvji would be answering other questions. Now this came as another surprise as I had no plans to interview Apoorvji.

As Ridesh and me began to interview Apoorvji I began to realize that, this interview is the very heart of the film. It was as though I was interviewing Jamanalaji. His passion for people, love for the country and most of his love for the creator was what struck me the most. I knew why the lord had lead me there.

Next few days I was with the team in Sikar who was working ceaselessly towards making a difference in the sectors of education, agriculture, health and other areas, which in turn contributed to the overall development of the individual and the Kasikabaas Villages. It was at Sikar that I heard that there is a person in the Bajaj family who is so passionate about people, the people love him and he is constantly praying for people’s needs. When I gathered that my joy had no bounds. I knew he was listening to the voice that I was. It was too hard to believe but "Nothing is impossible for God." He was a ardent believer of Christ.

Ever since I had heard about that the I kept this request in prayer “I want know more about this person’s faith”. Two months hence, as soon as the film was submitted I got an opportunity to ask him about his faith. The first thing he said ‘ Divyaji I know you read the Bible “. My God!!!! Your ways are higher than my ways and your plans higher than mine". It was clear why the Lord had asked me to keep my bible out. On one of the occasions we got together and also worshipped together.

The Bible says

Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

As the name says "Christmas" was the time when the world was gifted with its savior. The little we could do is to prepare for the arrival of the Messiah and we decided to make the film.

Shibani, my sister in Christ had been supportive of most of my theater and film production volunteered to anchor the film. Christmas was made on streets, coffee shops of Bangalore.

Everyone enjoys Christmas to the fullest. Christians, Hindus and all celebrate the festival . To each one it has a different meaning. But all agree that this was day a great Soul was born- Jesus and HE has his own connection with every individual. This film captures the festive spirit of Christmas and communicates the message of Jesus as interpreted by common people on the street.Christmas is the voice of the deep and inner thoughts of children of God from different faiths. Their immense love and regard for Christ brings to pass that..

The Gospel and Climate Change

After making a film on Water I felt connected to creation of God and it had made me more responsible and sensitive towards the environment. I felt the Lord was calling me to learn and lead awareness campaign through films. Thus the thought of participating in the Climate Change competition conducted by the UK embassy occurred.

The film had to have a base and nothing could be as sturdy as The word of God, which is the Rock. Just then someone had sent me an invite to attend a Climate Change conference in Bangalore. I could not make it for the conference but as I was going through the list of speakers, one topic caught my eye "Ecological Crisis is a Spiritual Crisis".

I called the speaker REV.K.C Abraham and he readily volunteered to be filmed. Thus started the shoot for "The Gospel and Climate Change". This film suggested conservation through usage of non-conventional methods feature. Glen who was a part of the company, which was the 3rd largest wind producer in the world readily agreed to be filmed, and June has constantly being a prayer partner, Close friends of mine who have stood by me during various stages of my life stood by me once again. The film received over 1200 hits on the internet and the Lord had connected The Gospel and the Climate change and the deep down in my heart.

The Bible says- And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and keep it. Genesis - 2:15

Ecological crisis is a spiritual crisis. Spiritual and theological writers have, in recent times, been summoning us to the conversation and demanding that we pause to rethink and refeel our attitudes, towards the earth and towards its fullness, now in a process of depletion.
A Short film by Divya Bhatt conveys the divine message of the Lord to save Planet Earth. Earth is the womb of God and all God’s creation is the heart of God. It is truly a human responsibility to nurture nature and to save it from destruction. The film aims at awakening the community at large as nature is a spiritual cause.

LIVING WATER explores the eco friendly means of water management. Its place in the world-from the beginning of creation, till date. The Holy Scriptures highlights the intention of God Almighty to create water, for and in the existence of mankind. Man has been given dominion over all creation, including water - which if not looked after will destroy human life.
There are some studies and efforts undertaken by experts to conserve and preserve life's vital enabler. Privatization of water management has its effects - like business gains reaped in the process and potential infringement of human sovereign rights. In the recent times, Karnataka's former capital was handed over to a private company without any notice to its citizens. Land is being aggregated and transferred to private companies.
Rather than co-existing with water, human beings have always looked at what can be extracted from it. It's simple. Man needs water. It's in man's best interest to live harmoniously with water. 'Preservation is Communion' is key to giving back to water what it enables us to be. ALIVE.

Making of " Living Water"

After the success of Sankalp films I was only looking forward to many more shoots, but nothing came. I was asking to Lord to show sign's if am doing it right thing and also to bring hope to those people who were constantly worried if I have made the right choice and I will survive . It's around that time that I heard about the 4th International film festival on water. As I decided to make a film I knew I would not do this alone I connected Vinay who had once shown interest in filmmaking and was a supporter of Jeevan Lakshya.

Although we started with an objective to submit the film as an entry for film festival somewhere along the way we stop working towards the festival and then it was about the film.

All along all I knew was that the foundation of the film had to be laid in the beginning of the creation. As water was one of the first elements on which the spirit of God breathed upon.

" In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters".
Genesis-1- 1- 2.

We traveled to the Rangantithu, Mandhya, Sangam, Shiva Samudram and also we also filmed the opinions of some who had contributed to the research and resolving the water crisis either through Lok Adalats , being a part of anti- privatization lobby in India etc.

On one of Sunday's at the Church Victor Satish connected us to Ashley who had been once be a guide in The Vatican. Ashley, volunteered to Anchor the film, She was outstanding. Santosh work with us editing the film at Vinay's parents home were we enjoyed tremendous support from the entire family all the days we worked there. Uncle Clement was so passionate about plants and he gave his gentle but firm opinions of how the film was shaping up. Auntie Ann with her continuous supply of her nutritious diet and beverages. The lord has ever supplied to his children and overlooks his tasks through his people.

The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want. Psalm- 23-1

The film was in the finishing stages but was not competed. We travelled to Goa for a filmmaking course and when returned figured out that he date of submission of the film was extended. This was a sign we had to submit the film to the panel. As we submitted we figured that there where 109 entries out of which 20 were chosen and our film "Living Water" was chosen to be screened at The 4th International Festival on Water. This was nothing but God's hand again.

Every word in the bible, which is tested and tried, proved it again. Andy helped with music while Lisa with her expertise in Language".

My friends who had truly believed that I was threading the right path stood be me and where present for the screening. To the world It was marvelous but I know in the heart of hearts that. It was a miracle yet again and a reassurance that I am walking in the path chosen by him.

Sankalp Award films

In May 2009 Madhu contacted me to film nominees of Sankalp Award. Sankalp is a forum for social entrepreneurs. It is during this time that God moved me in his own vigor to film 12 people in period of 5 days. It was my first time with people and practically my first assignment.
I used to wake up early and spend time with the Lord and therefore through out the shoots I could hear the voice of the spirit advising me to set frames and colour combinations. I was totally new to the field and had no experience but the Lord was completely in charge of the shoots and was working his ways through me. What a brilliant experience it was.

The response I received from MAM movies was that the shoots were apt and they were amazed as to how a person with no such camera experience was setting such wonderful frames.

In February 2009 I was invited by Madhu to be a part of a trip and therefore I traveled to Ahmedabad. What a beautiful trip that was! I was traveling with a whole lot of Filmmakers and Volunteers who supported Manavsadhana and Gandhi Ashram based in Gandhi Ashram. We travelled the in a Caravan called Nandini which went into the remote villages of Gujarat teaching cleanliness, Hygiene and sanitation to children and village communities.

I always dreamt of traveling in a caravan and there I was. The Lord knew my desire yet again. It is during this time when I walked into SEVA CAFE in Ahmedabad. I had no clue that that shoot at SEVA CAFE would result into my first documentary. I was flowing with what was available and the Lord work in me had begun.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Seva Café - an enterprise run with the motto - "Athithi Devo Bhava/ Guest is God"
The film you are about to see showcases an enterprise - Seva Cafe, situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat - that embodies the spirit of giving and making people feel welcome and loved. MY WALKIN INTO THE MEDIA

December 1 2008-
There was something different about that day when I sat with my bible and the verse flashed "Behold I will do something new I will run streams in the desert" Isaiah 43-19.
It was a Wednesday and my manager who was based in US had called me for a One-on-One (conference) meeting that we normally had on Thursday’s. On entering my office I saw my concerned colleagues, they sensed that the meeting would be something to do with my job and I could see fear on their faces. I was not worried until that conversation, but thereafter I was wondering if something like that happens how would I take it. Before heading into the conference I prayed and remembered my prayer partner’s words "Behold I will do something new, I will run streams in the desert" Isaiah 43-19. Lord once again promised the same verse through her. When entering the meeting room I began contemplating the promise.

As I logged in the Indian host manager came in with a third person and I then realized that the person who had entered with the host manger was an HR personnel. My manager greeted me and said "Divya I do not have good news for you" and asked the HR to hand over the copy of the letter to me. In my six years tenure in the company and 12 years of career, I had only received promotion or salary increase letters but this time the letter being read to me was one of the first of it’s kind which said I have been placed under a Work Force Reduction Program and that I should be looking out for another role within the company until December 26, 2008 failing in which I will have to quit the company by January 23rd 2009.

As the letter was being read out to me I was receiving some amazing strength and awesome peace …I was surprised but things were moving so fast I did not actually have the time to analyze my feelings. Every part of me knew ‘HE’ was there in the room taking complete control of the meeting. As my manager read two lines of the letter he said "let me give you time to digest’’. I said to him "I know this is happening so that I could be placed where my skills can be utilized best and I look at this as an opportunity". I was myself much surprised to what I had said. My manager was really pleased he said "Normally the first reaction under such circumstances is only a denial and glad you are taking this positively".

I am a people’s person except for analyzing customer survey’s or creating the websites or conducting team building sessions my heart was never into the team’s core activities like the late nights on a virtual platform on a phone call/ internet without a face to face communication. Since the time I had moved into mainstream BPO in June 2007 I had missed the evenings with my family and friends.

In September 2008 just 2 months prior to me receiving the news about my job, a filmmaking course had come my way. Then Madhu a friend of mine had said "Divya you are not meant to be in the corporate, you are a misfit, you must be in performing arts there are lot of openings in the media and take up the film making course". My conversation with Madhu was not a mere co-incidence but I knew that it was a step towards building a dual career.

In the year 2008, September the Lord also connected me to a youth group called Hosanna Youth (prayer group. Hosanna Youth was then praying and seeking someone to lead the Arts Ministry. I was given charge to lead Arts Ministry who performed bible based Skits and Choreographies. We performed at many colleges, churches and youth conventions in Bangalore and Mumbai.

It was during that time that I understood how strong a medium it is to communicate the Message of Salvation. I had been involved in theater as an actor in the past but none of those experiences were as rewarding as these art pieces. Prior to my involvement in the Arts ministry after every performance I would feel the vacuum and loneliness but now it was all so different.
As I continued to ask the Lord what I must do, He replied "’MEDIA". I said ‘What in media’ He said ‘DIRECTION’. When doing my filmmaking course we were divided into groups and as there was no female role as per the script, women were asked to take up direction. We were 2 women since one of the characters was following short the other female cast was chosen from the Direction crew and I took up direction. All of a sudden !!!! I could relate to all that had happened. Why the Lord had asked me not to go on stage during Hosanna Youth Art’s Ministry. ‘ He wanted me to stay away and look at a bigger picture in direction ’.

On December 26th, 2008 I attended a youth convention in Mumbai. It is there that I approached Bro. Fritz Masceranes (a true man of GOD and one who lives the gospel)

and

I told him "Brother I have been laid off ".

Bro said" Divya just say "Let YOUR kingdom come let YOUR will be done".

I found it difficult to understand. But yes I started to say "Let YOUR kingdom come let YOUR will be done" so many time in those few days. It is then that I saw this scene from Passion unfolding in front of me, where Jesus was kneeling down in the garden and asking HIS Father in heaven " Father let this cup pass from me. But let your will be done not mine" .

Suddenly it dawned on me that it is about HIS will not mine and I decided to meet with people in the media and check out options in film direction. My cousin Anne who was well briefed on how I was lead into the media was really supportive and connected me to a few people. My first contact was a photographer who was also a film maker Rajat . Until I met Rajat I was of the opinion that people in the media are high flyers but I discovered it is the small pleasure in life that he truly appreciated. Interestingly he had things to share on the same lines. He said "I was in the US where I completed my Master’s in Geology and there after I decided to do my Masters in a film making. I had money to pay up for one semester only therefore I started to look for finances and just then I gathered that Bank of Boston was giving interest free loans to student’s. I acquired the loan and thus completed his Masters in Filmmaking. I got a job, which helped me pay up the loan in a year’s time. Wow !!!I said to myself how great to acknowledge the miracles that were a product of Faith and only faith.

Rajat also connected me to a filmmaker Rohan a young boy full of enthusiasm, who had completed his Masters in filmmaking from the UK had made ad films and now wanted to teach film making. During the course of our conversation Rohan said "Buy a camera will cost you Rs.20,000/- to 30000 and you must start shooting". I said to him "Here I have lost a job ‘not sure if I should spend on a camera’’. ???……..

The next day I was connected to Sapna who in turn connected me to a Madhusudhan from MAM movies who was associated with films only for NGO related projects, which was of great interest to me. MAM had done a lot of projects related to Women and Child issues. I went to meet Madhu thinking I would get some contact to a director whom I could assist.

As Madhu and me spoke he told me "Divya you are where me and Megha were two years ago". He gave me a book, which had a write-up about how MAM began. I gathered that they helped young filmmakers and were also conducting a filmmaking workshop for girls from Dharavi. We spoke about faith and how on seeing their good work the ICICI foundation supported them. Madhu and Meghna had completed their Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Motion Pictures from Academy of Art University, California. Madhu had decided to use media to bring a social change and wanted to make documentary films. One day he received a $3000 Canon Gl-2 video camera with all accessories as an anonymous gift from someone in CharityFocus in US (a GL2C cannon costs about 2 lakhs. That was really a miracle!!!!!!!!). Madhu said
" that Canon Gl-2 video camera had stopped working since a month’’. He paused for a minute and said "I think it is waiting for you" I was dumb struck my heart had stopped beating. Madhu disappeared for a while and got the camera and said take ‘ If this can be repaired it’s yours go and shoot one film a week’. Madhu mentioned that he would been happier to give the camera had it been working. But the very fact the camera was given meant a lot to me…. Lord!!! I said you are showing me the sign that I should move into the media. Here there was a sign from God. I got the camera home my cousin Bhakti did believe what I was saying.. IT WAS A MIRACLE she understood what a sign it was from me and we both rejoiced.

After a whole lot of amazing experiences in Mumbai I returned to Bangalore on January 9, 2009. I constantly had my friends and family praying for me and I would like to express my gratitude to them. Seena’s prayer cell, which consisted of a whole lot of young girls lead by Sister Priya, had constantly been praying for me too and I had to thank them. I then met the pastor of the church truly a man of God composed and soft spoken. I mentioned to him that I was interested in Filmmaking, now pastor lead a life which was very simple and the church he lead did not believe in any form of entertainment. At first pastor asked me "Are you sure Sister if you have to be in this media field "I said "Yes pastor as I can see signs of God " He paused for a while and then said "He knew of someone in the filmmaking and he knew of an associate of AVM Rajan production (a well known production house of the south) and that he would organize a meeting for me with then tomorrow".

The next day I met up with Brother. Richard who was very close associate to AVM Rajan. He heard me out and saw what God had been doing for me and asked me to direct a Video Cd for a gospel Audio Cd which existed and 7000 copies of the Audio CD’s had already been sold. PRIASE THE LORD I got my first assignment!

At one time when I was involved in theater my friend Seena who for the last 2 years had been buying me gospel Cd’s with the leading I would be making films someday. She was praying to the Lord for a sound fellowship too and was very Happy that I had joined Bread of Life and the Arts ministry in Hosanna Youth.

Now that I had to resign from my company I had felt the urge to buy a laptop. But the Lord had intimated me not to and that my priority was to get the camera repaired. It was when I was returning tired from the hardware shop with my 8 year old computer (pentium 2) as they did not have the parts yet I started humming the song
"Hold me close, let your love surround me
Bring me near draw me to your side.
And as I wait, he rises like an eagle
Draw me close to you, your sprit leads me on
By the power of your love ‘’
I could really feeling the lord lifting me-a feeling of complete peace.

The next day my collegue Srikanth from office had come by and fixed a Lan card making it possible to me to access mails. WoW!!!! IT WAS GOD’S HAND AGAIN.
Now coming to the camera, I had given it to Cannon through Anand the G.K Vale owner whom I once come in contact with during my days as a travel manager. Cannon got back to me with a quote ‘the exact amount which I had once set aside for the laptop’. AMAZING IS’NT IT.
My entire life has been a testimony sincere thanks to all my friends who have been praying for me. I value every prayer and their contribution to my life. At each stage of my life, I had a friend who supported me with prayers I always had a prayer partner who continues to pray for me. The strongest weapon is prayer and this has been proved to me time and again.

All along my schooling and college life I have always been involved into different forms of arts music, choreography, theater and my deepest desire was to do something in the field of arts. It was a deep desire but had not discussed this with anyone and not that I even thought about it even once a year. But the lord knew my desire and he churned it through my heart.
