Harley is our newest rescue at Pasture Pals! This boy is HUGE! He is 17.3 hands, a Red Roan Overo Paint Gelding. He is missing his right eye and is fighting for his life due to a very serious hoof rot infection, but is a huge teddy bear, and loves to give hugs! <3

Dottie is completely blind due to an eye infection that wasn't properly cared for before she arrived at Pasture Pals, but she's still dead broke and loves to go ride! 15.2 hands, Leopard Appaloosa mare.

Meet Pasture Pals Equine Rescue's newest addition! Have you ever seen a Hinny before? Have you ever heard of a Hinny? Well, here's Taz, our Hinny! (He's not as big as he looks!) A Hinny is the offspring of a horse stallion and a jenny donkey. Hinnies are sterile, meaning they cannot reproduce.

Taz is a 9 year old dark brown small standard Hinny. He came to live a Pasture Pals on May 3, 2015. He was surrendered by the man who rescued him for personal reasons.

Do you see the unusual white marks under his neck? Those are scars. The man who previously rescued Taz told us that the man before him had chained him to tires and dragged him around by his chained neck in attempts to control him.

Available for adoption through www.midwestanimalrescue.org Lisbeth is my new foster. We went right from "hi beautiful" to urgent surgery because she was septic from her spay prior to rescue.

There's a long story behind this photo. When you look at it you think, "awe a little boy and his horse!" but it took so long to get to where we are now.

Storm, the mustang, arrived at Pasture Pals Equine Rescue on November 23, 2014. He was flea bitten and lived his whole 10 years of life in a 10x10 stall, never turned out, never broke, never trained. When he was brought to the rescue, he was even afraid of stepping out of the trailer on to dirt. He was scared of everything, and still to this day won't let people touch him without being coaxed in to it. Even then, he's very temperamental about where we touch him, and for how long we touch him.

The Ninjababy told me today "I wanna go say hi to the white horsey!" I said "Ok! Good luck with that!" and he climbed up on to the rails of the round pen. I look over and watch this wild stallion walk up to my 4 year old and start smelling him. I was so nervous about this because he is so skiddish of people, and was thinking of a way to tell my husband why our son no longer had a face. Suddenly, the horse was asking him to touch him. The ninjababy rubbed his face, his back, his backside, over and over again.

Buck meets the Ninjababy, my 4.5 year old's very first experience with a horse. I think he'll be a natural.

Buck is a gelded Buckskin Thoroughbred standing at 15.2 hands. He was given to Pasture Pals by another equine rescue, so his back story is unknown, but he is at least 14 years old. He has been at Pasture Pals for nearly two years.

Evening Graze

Sweets, a rescue horse, grazes as the sun goes down.

Sweets is a 16 year old mare, 15.2 hands high. We are unsure of the breed. Sweets was rescued along with another horse, Star, after having not been fed for months and constantly abused.
