The beauty of nature

The ocean

The oceans waves and running wind made a gentle melody and the water birds, more than you can imagine, danced to that sweet lullaby. The smooth ocean rocks were like raindrops that sat on the smooth sand. The beautiful sunset above was like giant warm rainbow painted into the deep pink sky.At night the gorgeous gray moon shined pale blue on the crystal clear. In that ocean the colorful coral reef was full of thousands of beautiful colored fish.

The Tropical Rainforest

The smooth clear raindrops pitter-pattered on deep green leaves. The birds sang there sweet songs. The scent of dewdrop flew through the gorgeous tropical wood. A small blanket of mist covered the forest floor that was covered in tropical flowers.

The Savanna

A dry grassland with the circle of life to keep things in order. The elephants trumpeting with pride along to the faint gallops of the zebras

The Mountains

The shrouded mist covering the ground like a soft blanket, A nearby mountain cougar standing tall with her children. A mountain goat proudly strutting about.

The Desert

The hot sun glaring down onto the soft desert sand, A towering camel stood tall frantically looking for food. The tiny Fennec Fox twitched his ears to a small,scampering rodent.

Fire, Black Dogs and Best friends BY Adrienne Pesito

Intros

Someone once told me that life is like a tapestry. People will weave and meet each other than meet again.

Chapter One Katelyn

The moving truck left. Judy was gone. Me and Judy knew each other our entire life. I wanted to forget now that Judy was gone. I wanted to forget how me, and Judy saw each other every day. I wanted to start over. Not because I’m a bad friend. It would make me sadder to think about it.

Chapter two Judy

I sighed. The snow danced in the air and landed in my hairs and my breath became little clouds. Without Katelyn I sat alone, walked home alone. Without Katelyn people talked behind my back and said I was the loneliest person on earth. Eve thought they said I was so lonely they never did anything to help it. As I walked towards my house a smell of smoke got stronger. When I finally got to my house, I saw it was up in flames. I took my phone out of my backpack then dialed my mom's number. When my mom finally picked up the phone, I yelled

”our house is on fire!”

“You’re joking right?’ said mom, trying to mean it but still sounded very worried.

“No, I'm not. I need to call 911. Go tell dad!”

Next, I dialed 911. It took the fire department 3 minutes to get to our new house. As I waited, I stared at the flames devouring my house and the sparks and ashes dancing in the hot and humid air. I was so surprised that such a big fire could ruin everything on a calm snowy day. The sound of sirens became louder and with a hose of water the fires died with a loud sizzle. While the fire was being put out, I saw a young black dog was being attacked by a snake. I was about to go and scream but the swift mother dog killed the snake. The mother dog made me think “Maybe I can help someone too.”

When my parents got there, the police asked dad, “why do you think your neighbors didn’t notice?

“We all know that a criminal did this. I don’t think it is a coincidence that there’s been 4 fires this week all set on fire undetected!” shouted dad with a cherry red face.

Mom whispered to me “Your dads right. There is a criminal!

Chapter three Katelyn

As I picked up pieces of debris I thought “It’s so weird that the criminal decided to burn down MY house. Even weirder, Judy’s new house was also burnt down.” Mom set her hand on my shoulder and said, "go get your unburnt things we are going to a homeless shelter.” The walk to the shelter was 2 miles long. The miles felt like eternity. When we finally got to the shelter it was already sundown. The second I entered I knew the feeling of the people around me. Some were crying. When we came in only one person looked up at me. Judy. When I saw here my troubles were swept away and I practically flew across the room.

Chapter Four Judy

I sighed. The shelter was going to close. Everyone had to travel to a different shelter. This one was a three-day walk. Katelyn and I dragged our feet on the side walk.

“How much longer until we get to the closest rest stop?” I complained. “Probably a million millennia.” Katelyn said. When we finally got to the rest stop it was dark. The rest stop was dirty. Also damp and littered. Next to the rest stop there was a thick forest. “The border of Oregan to California!" I thought. Both families settled in under a small undercover area.

Katelyn

When I woke up the next morning all parents were already awake and looking very frantic. The air was very warm, but the parents didn't notice the weather or me. That’s weird that they didn't notice because it was a white Christmas and it wasn’t supposed to be warm. The only other thing out of the ordinary was Judy wasn't there. Then I realized what the parents were yammering about. “Judy’s gone missing.” Judy’s mom shouted

“Stop! You're not going to find Judy unless you stop panicking and look closer!” Katelyn shouted with a sharp tone. “there are foot prints in the mud that lead to the woods.”

“We should all listen to my daughter right now. Now she is the most sensible.” remarked my mother.

Judy

“Oh nose! I sleepwalked into the woods” I thought when I woke up on the soft bed of moss. I tried following my own footprints in the mud, but they were scattered like my thoughts. I marveled at the beauty of the forest, it looked like I was in a fairytale. I suddenly heard a loud rustling sound. I thought it could be a bear or maybe Katelyn. It was hard to think positive. Instead it was the beautiful black dog and her pup. She seemed young but wise. Her eyes were as dark as the moon. Her eyes seemed to say” Please, help me” Right now, I was the one who needed help. I used to sing when I got worried. So, I sang. I sang so much and so loud I started to cough. Katelyn told me that my cough was weird because my cough was quiet and gentle yet the rest of me was strong and outspoken.

Katelyn

I heard 4 repeated “coughs”. I knew the most thing that stands out about Judy was her cough. As I walked into the woods the cough got louder. While I was looking around the forest she bumped into Judy’s hard head.

“Ow!” said Judy’s loud rocky voice

“Who else could be in the woods” she muttered under her breath without looking up

Umm... Hi?” I said awkwardly. I know that Judy knows what my voice sounded like, it was soft and delicate.

“Huh? Oh Katelyn, what are you doing here? How did you find me?”

“The forest is the border of Oregan so most likely we are in California” I said completely ignoring Judy.

“ha-ha. Even when we’re out lost in the woods you can still be a nerd.”

I frowned “Ok, well my phone just told me the same person who burned down our houses is in the forest right now. It’s a statewide alert.”

“C’mon then. We should get out of here, both of us know how dangerous this guy is.” Said Judy who was already running ahead. The two of us raced, after all they were the fastest. When they got to the end of the forest. Instead of the trashed rest stop they were at a sunny road and saw a sign that said “WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA”

“UGH” I yelled as I looked up from my phone. “The same guy who burned down the houses is now in California and entered the same way!” I yelled in frustration. A few seconds later a guy dressed in black ran out of the woods with a big duffel bag filled with about 20 boxes of match. I guessed that he was probably in his late 20’s or early 30’s.

“Hey you. Stop it. Come back you criminal!”

“Don’t Hey you me. My life is none of your business.” The criminal said. He had a low gravelly voice.

“Excuse me! It is my business. You burnt down my house, my best friend's house and so many other innocent people.” I fiercely shouted.

“It’s not a big deal. Anyway, I’m just trying to have fun.”

“Yeah right, this totally isn’t a big deal and it’s totally fun.” I said sarcastically rolling her eyes

Still running, the criminal looked back and ended up crashing into a police car. Luckily for us there was a police officer nearby and took him to the police station for questioning.

Chapter five/conclusion Judy

“Congratulation's you two are heroes.” announced the town mayor in a proud voice. A sea of reporters crowded them in questions.

“We’re not really heroes. We only did what we needed to do.” I replied shaking my head. When we got back to our parents the mayor explained everything and said that he would help them get a new house and a new job! “One thing still isn't right. The black dog and her pup still need help. It’s not right we have everything while she has nothing. “I thought to myself. Now that we have a new house our family works at an adoption center. We adopted the black dog and her pup. We called her Luna. Luna is always there to make me feel better. Luna and I can communicate somehow. Even though I am a human and she is a dog she taught me that everyone is similar. My family are now a foster family. All of us know the pain of not having a home. Me and Judy are always sticking together at our new school and at home. People say we are knotted together tightly because we never leave each other's side. We always try to help at school and try to be kind to others. Me and Katelyn want to inspire people to save other things because some things don't last long, and we should be thankful for them just like Luna taught me. People say that me and Katelyn changed a lot after the fire. Maybe we did. If we did it doesn’t matter.

The noise got louder and louder until it was clear. BARK! Phoebe woke up immediately. Her dog sat on her with a leash in her mouth. This meant she wanted a walk. It was 10:00 in the morning so Phoebe decided it was ok to take a walk. Cocoa (Phoebes dog) kept on pulling her to the small pond near a group of trees. In the end they went. Phoebe has been at the pond more times than she could count. Cocoa pulled her over to odd blue glittering stone. Cocoa kept on pushing the stone with her nose. That meant she wanted to keep it with her. Phoebe slipped it into her jeans pocket.

The next day Cocoa asked for a walk. The warm summer breeze brushed against Phoebes face. Again, Phoebe decided she could go walk. When they were about to leave Cocoa put the rock next to herself. Phoebe said "Wait here while I get you leash". The minute Phoebe turned around a voice said "Wait! I don't think I need a leash!. The voice sounded like a little girl. To Phoebes amazement Cocoa was talking! Phoebe acted like nothing was wrong even though on the inside she was shouting madly "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?". Phoebe just reminded Cocoa how could she get wild and that once she jumped on a table and ate from her moms plate during a big formal celebration. After that Cocoa and Phoebe didn't talk for the rest of the morning. Around noon Phoebe asked "How did you talk?". "I meant to bark but I ended up talking. Anyway, overnight the stone glowed and suddenly I could talk" Cocoa replied. Phoebe thought it was time to return the stone. So they did.

The very next day everything was back to normal. Phoebe never mentioned this to anyone so she wrote a book. Where is it? It's right here. You just finished reading it.

Hi! I'm FINALY back. On my 8th birthday I got a new phone. When I remember what kind of phone it is . we are also puppy sitting 2 dogs. one will go home on Monday. The other just got here. this is a story of three years ago when I got my first dog.

me and my Ate ( big sis) were playing on the couch then my mom called out " would you like a dog?" three years ago my sister was afraid Dogs but unexpectedly she yelled yes . I wasn't afraid of dogs like my sister but also burst out YEAH!!! later on my mom showed me a picture of the dog we were going to get. a second later me and my sister were in our room thinking up names for the Yorkie pup . I suggested snuggles and my sister suggested storm. Then our dad thought of pepper! We agreed on that. after 2 days we had picked up pepper and in the car we figured out pepper gets car sick because ... she PUKED at the TIP OF MY SEAT!!! I felt really disgusted by it . that night while me and my sister were studying we heard whimpering ,then we all thought where is Pepper? so we all panicked and started looking . It turned out she was stuck in my parents bed room. then we openned the door before we could say Pepper ,Pepper rushed out the door. she was so happy. we all lived happily with a Pepper puppy.

that morning we were of to blue berry picking .K got to sit my car . so we sat side by side playing uno so the parents went to this place then we went back for a great boat ride . I stood up on the boat instead of sitting . The breeze was really nice . After the boat ride we went to the pool for a good swim . Then we got dressed and hit the road to home.

Lone Star Vacation pt.2

On the morning of our second day in Chelan, . We all had a good breakfast. When we were all done we went upstairs to find my sister sleeping in a closet! It took forever to up (as usual) and when she finally did, she went down stairs to eat. When everyone was ready we took a golf cart to the beach. While we were swimming we jumped from the dock sat on floaties and rode jet skis all over the lake. Me, Katelyn and Katelyn's mom got on a paddleboat to ride. We couldn't do standup paddle boating because it was to hard. We liked to jump off the board and push it around. After some time my sister my mom and Ella got on another paddle boat.

(older sisters POV)

When we got on the paddle board we let my mom paddle. During the first few seconds we crashed into the dock, so i got to paddle. It was hard standing up because it was a bit wavy. After riding around the lake for a while I let my mom and Ella get off the paddle board. I stayed and tried to stand. It was hard getting up but once I gained my balance it got easier. I wobbled a little from the waves but i didn't fall off once. When i got off my legs felt like rubber but i was O.K. For the rest of my time i swam on the beach.

( Normal POV)

As I was saying about the paddle board, we had paddled far from dock ( actually just a little ) .Then suddenly I yelled 'girls over board". so me and my friend suddenly rolled off the paddle board . Then we met up with my sister who had my mom, Katelyns sister Ella on her paddle board . Soon later we were just paddling away me and Katelyn were holding on to the side and letting us get pulled away. Then suddenly I screamed"WHAT IS THAT!!!" it looked like a skin of a dead animal .I wanted it to be bark so I didnt have to be so disgusted .But it was a fish skin. so me and K ( Katelyn ) as soon as we could we jumped back on and paddled away.then we told Ks mom to try standing because we saw my sister standing and said" she makes it look easy." A few seconds after Ks mom tried to stand the board started to wobble...SPLASH!!! Ks mom had tipped over the whole thing and everyone fell off ! So everyone immediately got back on and paddled away . I know it sounds weird but next we went to the pool . At this pool visit me and K did jumps in the deep end . Ella could not swim so she could not jump with us . My sister and me both got scars because we hit our faces ( for me its the knee) at the bottom of the pool! after we went to the pool we went back to change and shower .Then we ate a great dinner. Next we went to the park. a few moments later the parents and kids were playing pickle ball. then every one stoped to play in the grass. before we knew it me and K was having a hoola hoop contest . after that we closed our eyes hoping for a good day.

As we were riding through the golf cart down to the lake, I thought I was going to fall out. I was on the side and we were turning to the curve so I held on tight to the handles. As the golf cart stopped me and my friends were getting ready to jump off into the tiny wading pool. I heard the rocks were slippery so I dared myself to climb the rocks. After I climbed the rocks my friends were helping me back to the shore. Then, it was time to go back to the golf cart to go check in so we could rent our house.

We were at Lake Chelan renting a vacation house with our friends, the Wong family. Their names were Katelyn, Ella ,Evan, and the parents.

The next moment all the kids were jumping into their bathing suits and getting in the pool. Our first swim was very fun. Except for the fact that my sister sprayed my face with a water gun.

After a long swim we got to go to our house. The house was called the Lone Star. All the houses had different names. My favorite was "this is the life".

After we changed our clothes we went to the park.The other girls were biking but there wasn't a bike fit for me.

When we went inside we watch a little bit of Big Hero 6. Then we all had to go to bed and we waited for another great day in Chelan.

Lost At The Zoo

Noises came from every direction.

Lily and Daisy were at the zoo! Daisy was the opposite of Lily. Lily behave and Daisy did not. Lily loved school and Daisy did not! Lily was so focused on the beautiful blue eyed white tiger for her report until....

Daisy bolted after a huge butterfly and knocked over a statue of a fish. CRASH! Daisy fell over too! Then Daisy dashed off AGAIN! This time Daisy found a button and Lily yelled "Don't push it!" But she pushed it! Lily mumbled "Daisy always doesn't listen." Right after Daisy pushed the button they realized there was a wolf inside the room next to them!

Wind started to rush into the other room. Lily shouted "WHERE ARE WE?" Daisy just ignored here and dashed off. Lily followed her. Daisy entered a room with all the security cameras and a computer and mostly papers. Lily shouted "WHERE ARE WE?" Daisy just stood right in the middle of the small room. Lily sighed "come on." Daisy just stood still. Lily shoved her out.

All of a sudden the speaker said "If your name is Daisy please come to the front desk." Lily whispered "Uh oh! I think you're in trouble." So Lily and Daisy went to the front desk. The worker smiled and calmly said, "Don't worry you're not in trouble. "Daisy thought "Good, because I don't want to be in trouble." the worker explained that they saw them on the other security cameras.

First, the girls and the worker checked the reptile exhibit but no one was there. Next they checked the cat family exhibit. There were people but not their parents. Then they checked the mammal exhibit no one was there...

They decided to go back to the front desk. They went back to the front desk, the girls saw their parents! Their parents warned them always to "pay attention!" The girls learned a lesson, especially Daisy. She knew to always stay with her parents and not wander off.

Summer is coming

I could almost feel the summer sun coming in Seattle. For the past few days the temperature is rising to 60 - 70!!! The kids could not wait to go to the park and ride their bikes! The other day, they contend themselves by riding their bikes on the street outside our house. Andi is learning to ride her bike too! She is so amazing because she is trying to hard to paddle and synchronized her feet by circling round and round. She almost got the hang of it. But if she gets tired pedalling, she would ask me to pull her bike, and it was exhausting.

Look at her, who could tell that she is just 2.5 years old? She is growing so fast, I can't hardly enjoy each passing moments.

It is so true when they say that as a parent you should enjoy and treasure each moment you spent with your kids, because they grow so fast and the next moment you will realized that they are already grown ups. And they will live their life on their own terms.

I’ve recently been reading all the hughesnet reviews online and I’m starting to think we need home internet. I’ve been able to get by without it the last couple of years but geez, wouldn’t it be nice to online shop or even to confirm my dentist appointments via email like all my friends. Plus I’ve gotten a lot more into Facebook recently and it’s annoying when I hear someone has new pictures up or something and I can’t check at home…I’ve always been kind of a lagger when it comes to technology but you know, I think it’s clutch to have internet if you remotely want to stay with the times. I mean, I’m not 70 years old, I’m barely a mom, and I’ve got keep abreast of what’s going on or I’m going to get totally out of the loop in another couple of years. Who would have thought I’d be the last one to get internet in my neighborhood full of old fogies? I certainly wouldn’t have said it’d be me!

She was not so happy and I don't know why ! She just sit at the bottom of the stairs and cry. She does not even want to tell me why. She does that when she wants something and she could not have it.

She looks so miserable and cute. I would say that Andi at her age is very smart. She has more vocabulary than any other two years old. She talks like a grown up! Sometimes, she surprised me with her words, phrases and I start to wonder where she learned it. There was one instance when we were having conversation in the car and she told me that she does not like one of her friends because she said that the girl does not know how to talk yet. And that she could not understand her at all! That kid she was referring to is a month older than her, but she mostly bubbles and true enough that you can't hardly understand or make sense of what she was talking. That was the only time, I was able to figure out why she does not want to play with that kid and would prefer to play with her big sister friends (which are older kids). She mostly wants to play with older kids and seldom seen her play with kids her age.

I guess, she is just a little bit advance compared to kids her age. She is sassy, funny, smart and most of all very sweet.

Putting on my annual spring yard sale

I don't understand how people can stand to put on more than one yard sale a year. I do one every spring and it about kills me! But it's because I only do one that I like to make sure that I go all out for it and sell as much of my stuff as possible at it so that I don't have to do a repeat in the summer or the fall.
The key to selling a lot is getting the word out as much as possible. So I looked up some cool signage ideas to make and when I was doing that I saw the website debtconsolidation.me and thought it could come in handy for our family's financial situation.
I got some really good sign ideas and painted them on some scrap wood that my husband had as a way to avoid spending any more money. Plus, we'll be able to reuse those signs in the future, which is even better for our budget and the environment! All around, it's a win-win situation, especially if the signs attract even more customers to our yard sale.

Inside the Jellyfish

This was one weekend when we got bored and decided to have a stroll at downtown Seattle and end up at the aquarium. We have been there many times, but for kids they act as if it was always the first time. How I wish we grown up will have the same enthusiasm as they have. Andi was having a great time and love to have pictures with everything. Unfortunately, that was the only time when we does not have any camera with us. So we settled for what we had, my lovely phone!

Here are some pictures of Andi:

She had a blast in the Jellyfish. She kept coming back to have her pictures taken and after you took her picture she would asked if she could take a look at it. If she was not satisfied, she would go back and have her picture taken again!!!

It was a fun day, sometimes the day goes great when out of the blue you just go out there and see what surprises the day will bring.

She is sleeping with Big Sister!

It has been four days now that Andi has been sleeping with her sister. We are trying to encourage her to sleep with her sister, and once she get used to it, we could buy her big bed and could share a room with her sister! Tonight, she wanted to sleep with us but I bribed her with a princess sleeping bag. I told her sister that they could practice for our next camping trip. Andi finally gave in but with the condition that I lie down in the middle until she fell asleep. Fair enough, and in less that five minutes she was fast asleep.

Here they are cozy in their sleeping bags and of course their pillow pets as well.

Hoping that she is taking the next step and hopefully no turning back!!! I will be so happy if we will succeed. Next step is taking her baby bottle! I think that will be the biggest challenge of all.

You will probably wonder how is Andi doing now, how big she is and if she could talk straight or converse with me in sentences. I will probably tell you that she is quite bubly and ask more questions than I can handle. her latest achievement was to participate in her big sister Barbie fashion show birthday party. She wanted to change her clothes, wear make ups, accessories and carry her own purse and walked and pose! Here is the sample picture of Andi in her casual wear!

Here she is with the rest of the girl posing for their sports wear. I could not find the one for evening gown. She was the only two year old who knows how to participate. There are three of them of who are supposed to join, but the two bailed out as they still doesn't know what is really going on!

It is good to have options!

It is always nice when you have options when doing things. Just like shopping, you have the option of going to the mall or have the convenient of doing it at home. If you are a busy person like me, online shopping is your best friend. You can do it anytime at your convenience, no more driving around and spending time walking at the mall. Aside from that, there are some pretty good deal online, you just have to watch for it! But do you know that there are sites where you could go shopping for almost everything? I've had the good fortune of growing up with a mom that's an amazing cook. She also cooks all the time, so I love to take advantage of that. But now that I'm in college, I'm really going to miss her home cooking. I've picked up a few tricks from her along the way though, so I'm going to make sure that I actually cook and prepare some decent meals for myself this year. I refuse to just live off of Chinese takeout and delivery pizza like every other college student.

Well, I want to do a few more things than just steal my mom's recipes, though. I need some stuff that's simpler than those, so I went online to check some out. While I was doing that I saw the site internet.clear.com. I showed it to my mom and after that she decided to change over her home internet service to a package on there.
So far my dorm room eating has already been better than what I expect for the average student. I've been making grilled cheese sandwiches out of my favorite kind of cheese. You can't beat simplicity like that.

Andi's visit at Mt. Rainier WA

Andi's first adventure ever! Mt. Rainier full of snow, she was so excited to play in the snow, but was screaming when her lola (grandma) left her.

She never gets cold even though she was only wearing short pants. I was quiet worried that she will get cranky on the trip, but she did so good. She watched movies while on the road and fell asleep. I was so surprised, I guess I had underestimated her :-) She loves to travel I guess just like her mom and dad!

Well, she is 21 months now, and she always surprised us with new words and expressions that she learns every day. She loves to say OK! She could easily express what she wants and what she needs. She could talk to you in broken sentences. She is just amazing :-)

The Big NBA Game

This upcoming weekend is going to be a busy one. Just last night, I purchased my family some tickets to an NBA game. I"ve been to several, but for the rest of my family members, this will be their first game. I think we"re going to have a great time. I feel as though my kids will have a good time. They seem to like basketball when I watch it at home. I think the mascot will really interest them, as well. My wife is a big sports fan like I am, so I know that she"ll have a good time. Most of the time, she just wants to ! get out of the house on the weekends, no matter what the occasion.
I also have some chores to do this weekend. I need to get around to fixing the roof. I think I am going to hire the people with Home Pro Improvement to give me a hand. I am no expert when it comes to roofing. Aside from the house work, I need to finally get my taxes out of the way too. This should be quite the weekend.
