Do you remember the saying that money makes the world go ’round? Well there is no question that saying is still correct but in the online world traffic makes the world go ’round more than money does.

Crazy statement right?

Not so and here is why.

The money means nothing if you don’t have the traffic. You can use the money to bring in the traffic but that just proves my point that traffic is more important because why else would you spend the money in the first place.

But let’s not talk about the money, we are here to talk about FREE web traffic.

There are many different ways to get free web traffic to your site but knowing another one will not hurt right? We can never have enough traffic.

My Free Web Traffic System

I’ve known about this for quiet some time but have stopped using it for an unknown reason. Well last night that changed and I already see good results from it.

So here is what you need to do.

Install OnlyWire plugin for your WordPress

OnlyWire is a website that offers auto posting of your published articles to about 50 different Web 2.0 properties. Well they also have WordPress plugin to make your life easier. You can download the plugin here or trough the search at your plugins section.

Create an Account with OnlyWire

Just go to onlywire.com and create an account, it takes 30 seconds to complete. Under “services” you will see a bunch of different web 2.0 sites.

Create Accounts on Each Web 2.0 Property

Well this will take a while but it is worth the time invested. No one said getting free web traffic is going to be easy.

Some of these properties are well known, such as Facebook, Delicious, Twitter, Digg etc. These are great authority sites and they are very important for both traffic and authority of your site; you will gain some great links.

Start Submitting Your Articles

Every time you post a new article, or update (there is an option for that), they will be automatically posted on all of these sites. You will gain a bunch of links very quickly.

The Real Deal

Almost every site on this list has a RSS feed. See where I’m going with this?

Collect your RSS feeds from each site and place them in one text file. If the site does not have RSS feed you can create one, either trough Yahoo Pipes or any other service readily available online.

After you have your list of about 50 RSS feeds you can go ahead and submit them to RSS directories . How great is that?

Free Web Traffic Conclusion

Every time you publish and article you will automatically get 50 links. These 50 links are than moved to RSS feed which is also submitted to as many RSS directories as you wish.

To make the math easier just imagine you submitted your RSS to 100 directories; that’s 500 links and all you did was published an article and clicked submit button on RSS Submit.

I started doing this again last night about 10ppm, by the end of the night I already had 21 hits from Stumbleupon in 2 hours.

This morning I am seeing hits from Digg, Stumbleupon, Facebook, Twitter etc. Overall I gained about 7-10% in traffic so far and it’s only been one day. Imagine the possibilities if you use this long term.

How to Find .edu and .gov Websites

Why are we looking for .edu and .gov sites you might ask? It’s simple. Google trusts those sites because they are used by the Government and schools, which, for the most part, are offering information to the people rather then trying to sell them something or scam them out of their money. Anyone can find .edu site, just type in .edu into Google and you will get a huge amount of them, 178 million to be exact. But finding those sites is not an issues, what we are trying to do is find the sites that will let us post out link on them. We want those backlinks because they are very valuable.

What we are essentially looking for here is blogs that we can post on. So some of you might get scared, “what if the Government comes knocking on my door” right. Don’t sweat, they have more important things to worry about, like two wars and the economy going down the toilet, than some kid posting link of some site all over their blogs. Well it’s safe unless you post links of pornographic sites, especially those tat involve children but I hope you are not that screwed up.

So we will be using good old Google to find those domains. There are different ways to this method but I will show you what works for me and then you can think of your own way to “hack” Google.

Method #1
Used to search for wordpress blogs

Go to Google and type this in:

1. site:.edu inurl:”wp-admin” +login
2. site:.edu inurl:wp-login.php +blog
3. site:.gov inurl:wp-login.php +blog

Method #2
Used to search for typical keyword combination found on blogs

Go to Google and type this in:

1. site:.edu “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”
2. site:.gov “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”
3. inurl:(edu|gov) “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”

Method #3

Go to Google and type this in:

1. site:.edu inurl:blog “comment” -”you must be logged in” -”posting closed” -”comment closed” “keyword”

This is as simple as it gets. All you have to do now is go to each of these blogs, see where you can post a comment without login in, you can do that as well but it takes more time, and post your link. Also use either your website name or a keyword as a name when leaving a comment, unless there is a space for URL, because you can put anchor text to your site in your name and it will be almost unnoticeable to the admin of the blog.

Keep in mind that a lot of the blogs may use the no-follow attribute and Google will not pick up the backlink. This is too bad but Yahoo and the other search engines will. You will also have to spend time sifting through all the crappy PR0 student blogs and whatnot in order to find some decent PR blogs. This is why black hat can be time consuming to say the least.

Backlinks are one of the most important components of having a successful website therefore we need to pay particular attention to getting a lot of backlinks and making sure that they are relevant to our niche. So today I am going to show you a little trick that I learned recently and it is concerned with getting a lot of backlinks the easy way. This guide will explain how to get 3000 backlinks in one dayand it is one of the best backlinking strategies that I know off.

Write 2 new articles, they don’t need to be anything extra but make sure they are at least 250 words long; I would suggest to make them at least 300 words to make them more relevant to your site.
Find 20 free blog hosting sites, paid are fine as well but why spend money if you don’t need to. Example of free blog would be WordPress, Blogger, Yahoo360 etc.
Create an account on each of these hosting sites and post your 2 articles and include 3 links to your site. I would suggest you spin your articles for every blog you post them on, to make them unique in Googles eyes.
After you are done creating your blogs and posting your articles grab RSS Feeds of those 20 blogs and submit them to 25 RSS Feed directories such as Badrss, Feedagg, 1000sites, Feedage etc.
When you are done submitting you will have 3000 backlinks.

This is how we calculate that:

20 Blogs * 2 Posts* 3 Links = 120 Backlinks

120 Backlings * 25 RSS Feeds = 3000

You can increase this by adding more articles, links and RSS Feeds but if you have a new site I would not recommend doing that. Google will be suspicious of your techniques and you might get banned so be careful. Use this technique wisely and you will find success.

Quick and Easy method For Getting Google Adsense Approval

AdSense is undoubtedly the best PPC program. Every blogger prefers Google AdSense not just because it pays more money per click, it is because the ads are very relevant to your blog content and thus increases your CTR. Today i am going to share a post about the quick and easy method for getting Google AdSense approval.

As of many other bloggers, i had tried for the AdSense approval using two of my sites and got the negative results. Every time i apply, they say “Your application has been rejected” and i got fed up of applying. I had seriously stopped thinking about AdSense and had no hope on it.

I started to read the forums where many of them said that they got approved through the Google AdSense revenue sharing sites. But most of them said they were not approved. I decided to give myself one more last chance and got registered at Indyarocks. But still i did not have a hope that i would get approved. Indyarocks really works and not at all a scam as you can see my approval.

There are many of the other AdSense revenue sharing sites like Hubpages, Indyarocks, Flixyaetc., but i opted for Indyarocks.

How to get approved:

First register at Indyarocks. Then you have to meet their minimum requirements criteria. i.e. you have to complete the following details:

Your profile must be 50% complete. This means you should update your basic information such as name, address, phone no, favorite movies etc.,
Then you should upload your picture for the profile and not any other non–elated photo.
Then you should upload a minimum of 10 photos in your profile. You can upload any of the pictures that’s taken by you.

Note: Uploading of copyrighted, celebrities, nudity or not allowed.

You should write a minimum of 2 blog posts. After completing these things you are eligible for applying for AdSense. But Google may not approve you, just for 2 blog posts. Here is what i have done to get my AdSense approved.

I had registered on 19th November and had completed my profile. I started to write blog posts and had written 6 blog post before applying for AdSense and a total of 8 posts were written before i got approved.

Here is a screen shot of what i had done. Joined on 19th and sent for approval on 27th November and got approved by 29th November.

Tips:

These area some of the basic tips that you can follow and i assure you that you can get approved.

Finish their minimum requirements criteria.
Do not submit for AdSense approval with only 2 blog posts. Try to write 8 to 10 blog posts and then apply for AdSense.
Writing 8 to 10 posts does not mean that finish 10 posts in 2 days and submit. You should write a minimum of 1 or 2 posts per day so that you can wait for 7 days before submitting.
Once you decide to go for AdSense approval you need to submit an application to Indyarocks, which will be reviewed by their team and once approved you will be sent an email to provide AdSense details.
After you complete AdSense form the rest is left to Googlewhether to approve or not.
Write a better content and let it be in your own words. Do not copy paste the post. Google may reject you.

After doing these things i got approved within 10 days of joining Indyarocks. If you desperately want to get approved by Google AdSense, then try this method.

Select Zone record and in the host column enter your .co.cc domain name :shoutmeloud.co.cc

How to redirect your blogspot blog to custom domain?

AdSense Tip #7: Position tips

Visitors tend to look at the big headlines to see if your page is worth reading. If you get them interested, they will read the text and look for your navigation links.

Place the AdSense ads in a prominent place around the top/left part of your page or under your headlines, where your visitors are most likely to look at.

If you have an article page with a long body of text, the bottom of that article is a good place for AdSense ads because your visitors read the text and then they want more resources.
AdSense Tip #8: Increase the number of ads, but not too much

If you have a lot of text on a page, use multiple AdSense units. You can use up to three AdSense units on a page, two AdSense search boxes and one unit of ad links.

Link units allow the user to refine what they're interested in. So if they may not be interested in specific ads on your page, they might be interested in a particular topic, and by clicking on a link unit and a link in the link unit, they'll be able to specify that they're interested in that specific topic and get a lot more options and variety on the ads that might appear.

AdSense for Search allows visitors to search Google.com or your sites (up to 3 domains). You earn money whenever they click on the ads that come up on the search results. If you click the Open search results in a new browser window checkbox in the AdSense for Search settings, you won't lose your visitors.
AdSense Tip #9: Preview Google ads

You can find out what ads will be served by Google AdSense if you install Google AdSense Preview Tool, a very simple tool available only for Internet Explorer 6.0. Click to advertiser sites without generating invalid clicks, and easily add their URLs to your URL filter list. Because AdSense uses geo-targeting, Google serves different ads for other countries. Instead of faking your IP or travelling abroad to test your ads, use this AdSense tool to see what ads see your visitors from France, Germany or other countries.

There may be no Google AdSense ads available for your webpage, so Googlw will display Public Service Ads. You can hide them using alternate colors or images. Make sure you include the image in a simple html file as a link (use target="_top"). The image size should be the same as the dimension of AdSense units. In the alternate url box, enter the absolute url of the html file.

Rotating Google Adsense Color

There is a known tendency for regular visitors to your site to ignore adsense ads due to ad blindness. This occurs when you display the same selected color palette for your ads in the same location.
To prevent regular users from ignoring the ads, you can officially rotate upto 4 different types of color palettes for your adsense ads.
When you are selecting the color scheme for the adsense ads, press the Ctrl key, scroll up or down with the arrow keys and select multiple color schemeswith the SPACE bar.
Now you will see 4 selected schemes beside each other and will also be incorporated in the adsense code. This color coding will now be changed automatically whenever the page is reloaded.
This is an excellent way to prevent ad blindness as everytime the page opens, a new color scheme will attract the visitor and might lead to a better click through rate (CTR) and make you more money with Adsense.

What We Saw When We Looked Through Their Eyes

News websites have been with us for about a decade, and editors and designers still struggle with many unanswered questions: Is homepage layout effective? ... What effect do blurbs on the homepage have compared to headlines? ... When is multimedia appropriate? ... Are ads placed where they will be seen by the audience?

The Eyetrack III research released by The Poynter Institute, the Estlow Center for Journalism & New Media, and Eyetools could help answer those questions and more. Eyetracking research like this won't provide THE answer to those questions. But combined with other site metrics already used by news website managers -- usability testing, focus groups, log analysis -- the Eyetrack III findings could provide some direction for improving news websites.

In Eyetrack III, we observed 46 people for one hour as their eyes followed mock news websites and real multimedia content. In this article we'll provide an overview of what we observed. You can dive into detailed Eyetrack III findings and observations on this website -- use the navigation at the top and left of this page -- at any time. If you don't know what eyetracking is, get oriented by reading the Eyetrack III FAQ.

Let's get to the key results of the study, but first, a quick comment on what this study is and is not: It is a preliminary study of several dozen people conducted in San Francisco. It is not an exhaustive exploration that we can extrapolate to the larger population. It is a mix of "findings" based on controlled variables, and "observations" where testing was not as tightly controlled. The researchers went "wide," not "deep" -- covering a lot of ground in terms of website design and multimedia factors. We hope that Eyetrack III is not seen as an end in itself, but rather as the beginning of a wave of eyetracking research that will benefit the news industry. OK, let's begin. ...

At the core: Homepage layout

While testing our participants' eye movements across several news homepage designs, Eyetrack III researchers noticed a common pattern: The eyes most often fixated first in the upper left of the page, then hovered in that area before going left to right. Only after perusing the top portion of the page for some time did their eyes explore further down the page.

Depending on page layout, of course, this pattern can vary. The image above is a simplistic representation of the most common eye-movement pattern we noticed across multiple homepage designs. (In other words, don't take what you see above too seriously.)

Now also consider another Eyetrack observation: Dominant headlines most often draw the eye first upon entering the page -- especially when they are in the upper left, and most often (but not always) when in the upper right. Photographs, contrary to what you might expect (and contrary to findings of 1990 Poynter eyetracking research on print newspapers), aren't typically the entry point to a homepage. Text rules on the PC screen -- both in order viewed and in overall time spent looking at it.

A quick review of 25 large news websites -- here's a list of them -- reveals that 20 of them place the dominant homepage image in the upper left. (Most news sites have a consistent page design from day to day; they don't often vary the layout as a print newspaper would.)

We observed that with news homepages, readers' instincts are to first look at the flag/logo and top headlines in the upper left. The graphic below shows the zones of importance we formulated from the Eyetrack data. While each site is different, you might look at your own website and see what content you have in which zones.

Want people to read, not scan? Consider small type

The Eyetrack III researchers discovered something important when testing headline and type size on homepages: Smaller type encourages focused viewing behavior (that is, reading the words), while larger type promotes lighter scanning. In general, our testing found that people spent more time focused on small type than large type. Larger type resulted in more scanning of the page -- fewer words overall were fixated on -- as people looked around for words or phrases that captured their attention.

This was especially the case when we looked at headline size on homepages. Larger headlines encouraged scanning more than smaller ones.

(Note: We are not advocating that you run out and reduce the size of your font across the board. You should make sure that people can read the font size you select in order to achieve the appropriate balance.)

Particularly interesting was people's behavior when there were headlines and blurbs used on homepages. Eyetrack III test participants tended to view both the headline and blurb when the headline was bold and the same size as blurb text and immediately preceded the blurb on the same line.

With a headline larger than the blurb and on a separate line, people tended to view the headlines and skip the blurbs; they scanned the headlines throughout the page more than the group that looked at the smaller headlines.

Researchers believe that it is the contrast in type size that accounts for this behavior, as well as the type size itself. When a headline is larger than its accompanying blurb text, it's perceived as the important element of the headline-blurb block -- so people appear to decide that viewing the headline is sufficient and they skip the blurb.

Underlined headlines discouraged testers from viewing blurbs on the homepage:

This may be related to a phenomenon that we noted throughout the testing: visual breaks -- like a line or rule -- discouraged people from looking at items beyond the break, like a blurb. (This also affects ads, which we address below.)

When we look at news websites, we find that the vast majority of them (22 out of 25) use blurbs to accompany headlines on their homepages. It's the rare ones that use only headlines: CNN.com, NYPost.com, and ProJo.com. In terms of headline size, we observed about an even split between using larger type size for headlines vs. smaller type.

We found that 12 out of 22 news sites that use blurbs on their homepage put rules under their headlines.

Partial viewing of headlines, blurbs found to be common

We found that when people look at blurbs under headlines on news homepages, they often only look at the left one-third of the blurb. In other words, most people just look at the first couple of words -- and only read on if they are engaged by those words.

Here's a heatmap of a blurb demonstrating this. (A heatmap is an aggregate view of all the eye fixations of our test subjects. Below, the orange area was viewed the most, the blue areas the least.)

With a list of headlines on a homepage, we can see where people looked with eyetracking -- and again, most often it's the left sides of the headlines. People typically scan down a list of headlines, and often don't view entire headlines. If the first words engage them, they seem likely to read on. On average, a headline has less than a second of a site visitor's attention.

For headlines -- especially longer ones -- it would appear that the first couple of words need to be real attention-grabbers if you want to capture eyes.

The same goes for blurbs -- perhaps even more so. Our findings about blurbs suggest that not only should they be kept short, but the first couple of words need to grab the viewer's attention.

On the 25 news websites we reviewed, there's considerable variety in blurbs. Average blurb length varies from a low of about 10 words to a high of 25, with most sites coming in around 17.

What creates "hot spots"?

In Eyetrack III, we tested several homepage designs, watching where on the page people looked. As you would expect, lower parts of the page -- especially areas you have to scroll to view -- receive modest viewing. But that doesn't mean you can't get people to look at content low on a scrolling page.

On a couple of our test homepages, we found "hot spots" for some stories. Perhaps because our testing took place in San Francisco, research subjects were drawn to one story about the site "Craig's List" (a local online community popular since its inception in 1995). The headline for that story had an inordinate number of eye fixations compared to surrounding content, even though it was below the first visible screen of the page. We observed a similarly high number of eye fixations on a headline about clothing maker FCUK, which was placed far down on a page with a long list of headlines and blurbs.

We think this spells good news for those websites with homepages that extend well beyond the initial screen view. Eyetrack III found that people do typically look beyond the first screen. What happens, however, is thattheir eyes typically scan lower portions of the page seeking something to grab their attention. Their eyes may fixate on an interesting headline or a stand-out word, but not on other content. Again, this points to the necessity of sharp headline writing.

Where's your navigation?

While testing several homepage designs, we varied the placement of a navigation element: top (under the flag or logo), left column, and right column.

Navigation placed at the top of a homepage performed best -- that is, it was seen by the highest percentage of test subjects and looked at for the longest duration. In a survey of 25 top news sites, we found 11 that used top position navigation. The other 14 used left navigation. Seven of the 25 used left and top navigation elements. None of the 25 sites we surveyed used right side navigation. It's rare, but you can find right navigation in the news website world.

It might surprise you to learn that in our testing we observed better usage (more eye fixations and longer viewing duration) with right-column navigation than left. While this might have been the novelty factor at play -- people aren't used to seeing right-side navigation -- it may indicate that there's no reason not to put navigation on the right side of the page and use the left column for editorial content or ads.

What about article layout, writing style?

Eyetrack III results suggests various characteristics of article writing and layout can affect a reader's viewing behavior.

For example, let's take average paragraph length. Most news sites run articles with medium-length paragraphs -- somewhere (loosely) around 45-50 words, or two or three sentences. In a survey of 25 top news sites, however, we did find seven that routinely edited articles to make paragraphs shorter -- often only one sentence per paragraph.

Shorter paragraphs performed better in Eyetrack III research than longer ones. Our data revealed that stories with short paragraphs received twice as many overall eye fixations as those with longer paragraphs. The longer paragraph format seems to discourage viewing.

Most news website article pages present stories in a single column of text, but a handful of sites -- like IHT.com and TheHerald.co.uk -- mimic newspaper layout and present articles in two or three side-by-side columns. Is this as readable as the traditional (for the Web) one-column article format?

Eyetrack III results showed that the standard one-column format performed better in terms of number of eye fixations -- in other words, people viewed more. However, bear in mind that habit may have affected this outcome. Since most people are accustomed to one-column Web articles, the surprise of seeing three-column type might have affected their eye behavior.

What about photos on article pages? It might surprise you that our test subjects typically looked at text elements before their eyes landed on an accompanying photo, just like on homepages. As noted earlier, the reverse behavior (photos first) occurred in previous print eyetracking studies.

Finally, there's the use of summary descriptions (extended deck headlines, paragraph length) leading into articles. These were popular with our participants. When our testers encountered a story with a boldface introductory paragraph, 95 percent of them viewed all or part of it.

When people viewed an introductory paragraph for between 5 and 10 seconds -- as was often the case -- their average reading behavior of the rest of the article was about the same as when they viewed articles without a summary paragraph. The summary paragraph made no difference in terms of how much of the story was consumed.

Just over 20 percent of the leading news websites regularly use summary paragraphs with articles.

Advertising

Eyetrack III tested a variety of ad placements and formats across our various hompages and article-level pages.

The first thing we noticed is that people often ignore ads, but that depends a lot on placement. When they do gaze at an ad, it's usually for only 0.5 to 1.5 seconds. Good placement and the right format can improve those figures.

We found that ads in the top and left portions of a homepage received the most eye fixations. Right side ads didn't do as well, and ads at the bottom of the page were seen, typically, by only a small percentage of people.

Close proximity to popular editorial content really helped ads get seen. We noticed that when an ad was separated from editorial matter by either white space or a rule, the ad received fewer fixations than when there was no such barrier. Ads close to top-of-the-page headlines did well. A banner ad above the homepage flag didn't draw as many fixations as an ad that was below the flag and above editorial content.

Text ads were viewed most intently, of all the types we tested. On our test pages, text ads got an average eye duration time of nearly 7 seconds; the best display-type ad got only 1.6 seconds, on average.

Size matters. Bigger ads had a better chance of being seen. Small ads on the right side of homepages typically were seen by only one-third of our testers; the rest never once cast an eye on them. On article pages, "half-page" ads were the most intensely viewed by our test subjects. Yet, they were only seen 38 percent of the time; most people never looked at them. Article ads that got seen the most were ones inset into article text. "Skyscraper" ads (thin verticals running in the left or right column) came in third place.

Reviewing 25 leading news websites, we discovered that there's a preponderance of small banner ads on homepages. And it's exceedingly common to find ads in the right column of news homepages. About half of the 25 sites we reviewed inset ads into article text.

Larger online images hold the eye longer than smaller images

News homepages typically use templates, many of which employ a predetermined size for a main image. Although the value of using a template-driven design can (and should) be debated, what we learned about photo size in Eyetrack III may be helpful to those who are wondering just how big a spot to leave for images.

Although we learned that most of our test participants did not look at images first, we also observed that images received a significant number of eye fixations. We also learned that the bigger the image, the more time people took to look at it.

One of our test pages had a postage-stamp sized mug shot that was viewed by 10 percent of our participants. Compare that with an average-sized photo (about 230 pixels wide and deep) that drew gazes from about 70 percent.

We found that images that are at least 210 x 230 pixels in size were viewed by more than half of the testers. Our research also shows that clean, clear faces in images attract more eye fixations on homepages.

Article-level pages seem to follow suit. Again we found that the larger the image, the more users were drawn to it.

In reviewing 25 news websites, we found that about 20 percent routinely use small images on their homepages. Four out of five sites routinely place their homepage main photo in the upper left.

And here's an interesting research tidbit: We noticed that people often clicked on photos -- even though on our test pages that got them nowhere (and indeed, clicking on photos does nothing on many real news sites).

Text for facts; multimedia graphics for unfamiliar concepts

Overall, we observed that participants were more likely to correctly recall facts, names, and places when they were presented with that information in a text fomat. However new, unfamiliar, conceptual information was more accurately recalled when participants received it in a multimedia graphic format.

So what does this mean? While overall we did see a slight, although not statistically significant, increase in information recall from text stories, we should note that most of our recall questions were about facts, names, and places. Story information about processes or procedures seemed to be comprehended well when presented using animation and text. A step-by-step animation we tested supported this idea.

We also observed that most participants attended to only two forms of media at a time. For example, in one of our testing situations users were presented with audio, still images, and written captions. We observed that they directed their attention to the audio and images. Important information in the photo captions were not read by many.

The bottom line is that the best journalists working in multimedia environments know how to make good choices about the presentation of story information. As demonstrated in this research, some information is best conveyed by the use of good, descriptive writing. Other information is better explained graphically.

Section Targeting by Google AdSense

You can use section targeting to make suggestions about as many sections of a page as you like. However, please be aware that we can't guarantee results, and that it may take up to 2 weeks before our crawlers take into account any changes you've made to your site.

Including insufficient content may result in less relevant ads or PSAs. 15 Common Mistakes that Violate Google Adsense TOS

Google Adsense publishers often commit common� mistakes that could ban their Adsense account. Google Adsense is a popular web advertising program which provides a good income source for many websites. There are well defined terms of service to strictly adhere to when participating in the program.

On my visit through sites and forums, I daily notice several instances of misuse of Adsense ads. So here a few helpful Google Adsense tips, probably many you already know, and few you might gain by knowing now. These adsense faq are all picked from the Program Policies, Terms and Conditions and FAQ itself and presented in a simplified manner.

1. Never click your own adsense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you Adsense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income. Dont even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Adsense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview tool if required.

2. Never change the Adsense code. There are enough means of adsense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to colour and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.

3. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.

4. Do not run competitive contextual text ad or search services on the same site which offer Google Adsense competition in their field. Never try to create link structures resembling the adsense ads. Never use other competitive search tools on the same pages which have Adsense powered Google search. They do allow affiliate or limited-text links. Update: Google has allowed you to run contextual advertising like Yahoo ads, Chitika etc provided the ads do not resemble Adsense ads.

5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.

6. Label headings as “sponsored links” or “advertisements” only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.

7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. Adsense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

8. One Account suffices for Multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fear that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.

9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, “thank you” or welcome pages, parking pages or pop ups, it will get you out of the program.

10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colours and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same colour as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.

11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registering on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!

12. Keep track of your content. So Adsense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches – Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads.
