“Ultimately, all of that press is great, but if you don’t have the quality product to back it up it doesn’t matter,” Hirsch said. “You can’t have one without the other. You can have all the media attention you want, but if the product isn’t satisfying, then people will leave. Luckily we have incredibly talented people making great adult products so we have a loyal core audience in addition to tapping into consumers that are new to adult entertainment.”

Certainly Vivid has recognized trends in adult content early on and capitalized on them. Vivid Alt, Vivid Ed, Vivid Celeb and Vivid Superhero are all examples of giving new types of content a bigger platform and creating a larger audience for them.

“There’s lots of opportunity out there,” he said. “Certainly mobile is part of it, IPTV is very interesting to us, which both go along with creating unique product and that’s what we’ll continue to do. The market is there. There’s still a big TV business, still and internet business out there, a growing mobile business, an IPTV business that’s ramping up, and we’re in a great position to leverage our assets and take advantage of all of it. The brand really helps us. The way it’s respected and positioned afford us opportunities other people aren’t.

“We’ve been around now almost three decades and it’s difficult to keep reinventing yourself but I think we’ve been successful at it,” Hirsch continued. “We’re viewed as a company that continues to innovate, and I’m happy with our perception. We’ll continue to hold ourselves to a high standard.”

The 2011 expo in Edison began with Friday’s Ladies Free Night.  Lines of women listened to seminars on relationships, cheered for MEN, an all male revue and host of other shows on the AEBN Entertainment Stage, and shopped at erotic themed vendors.  Visual treats included aerial acrobatics from adult superstars Belladonna and Stoya, as well as burlesque shows from Pretty Things Peep Show, Rubberdoll, Rigor Mortis Revue, and more.

Gianna cruised up to the hotel in one of the DeLoreans from the Back to the Future movies with a Marty McFly lookalike, which was captured by a sea of media.  Saturday night, an “Alan” lookalike greeted fans and VIPs who attended The Hangover XXX After Party hosted by Digital Playground contract star Riley Steele, and the legendary Lisa Ann.  Select party-goers were handed cameras to catch the evening’s events (in case steps needed to be retraced), and the popular NJ band, The Replicants cranked out the tunes for the sold out crowd containing a who’s who of the adult industry.  Sunday night, Joe Trivia presented “Are You Smarter Than a Porn Star?” trivia where hostesses Tasha Reign and Kagney Linn Karter of LA Direct Models showed off their knowledge.  Then a plethora of stars took part in Porn Star Karaoke for the show’s official wrap party concluding the over 36 hours of non-stop entertainment and parties composing EXXXOTICA New Jersey.

Even a worldwide entertainment superstar can be star-struck however. Nikki got a taste of that recently when she found her name mentioned on “Hockey Night in Canada” by Paul Bissonnette aka BizNasty.
