Today we will talk about the most popular tent among families. Cabin tents are large and enable comfortable camping adventure. They are also great for groups as well and for hosting a backyard party.

We have different kinds of tents on the market. They differ regarding shape, season, weight and so on. However, is there the best cabin tent for rain? Tent manufacturers thought of this as they make tents that won’t let you down when it rains.

Read on to see what features you should be looking for in a tent so it will keep the rain outside your shelter.

Cabin tent that keeps the rain away

Summer camping is great but how about going camping in rain or being surprised by it on the campground? If you want a dry camping trip take a look at next tent features and tips.

Waterproof material

Which is the feature that makes a family cabin camping tent the most valuable? Consider a waterproof tent material if you are camping in a rainy season or expecting rain.

Look for the polyester or nylon fabric, these will keep you dry. You can also get a tent with the canvas or poly cotton material that has been coated with PVC.

A hint

You can spray your tent with the waterproof spray for additional rain protection. First, you should make sure that the tent is clean and dry. Then apply the spray on the fabric and wipe it out with a soft cloth. Leave it to dry and you are ready to go.

Hydrostatic head level

This is the second most vital feature. A good waterproof tent should have at least 1500 HH rating. What does this measurement means? It means that a tent fabric can handle 1500 mm of water. The more millimeters it handles the better. This is a general rule but you should stick to it.

Ventilation

Waterproof tents are made with thicker material than ordinary tents. This means that the condensation could gather quickly. However, tent manufacturers thought of this and took care that you have a breathable tent to stay in.

Look for the tent that has rainfly vents and two doors (if possible). This way you can let the air in whenever you need it.

Additional tips

It is time that I reveal you some of my tips for staying dry on the camping trip. If you follow these you should have a pleasant outdoor vacation.

Pitching the tent on the right place

Setting your tent in the right place is as important as getting a waterproof tent. Place a tarp on the ground to make sure the water won’t get into your tent.

Where should you pitch your tent to avoid water? When you come to the campground, look for the elevated place. Place the tent side away from the wind. Stay away from low grounds, rivers and where the water gathers.

Dig a canal around the tent

Dig a canal around the tent to prevent water from getting into the tent. It doesn’t have to be deep dig just enough to prevent water from crossing the canal. This comes handy when you face the heavy rain.

Appropriate Clothes

You should take appropriate rain clothes even if it is sunny out there. Nature is unpredictable so bear this in mind. The basic rule is to take synthetic clothes which don’t absorb moisture as much as cotton.

Take double pieces of clothes so you can change if you get wet. Bring anorak or a raincoat that will protect you.

Shoes are important as well. Make sure you bring waterproof shoes that are appropriate for hiking outdoors. When planning for an upcoming hiking trip, make sure to pack camping portable generators in case of emergencies.

Heat your tent

It can be cold on a rainy day and I am sure you don’t want to catch a cold when staying in a tent. For this reason, you can get a heater that will warm the tent’s interior. There are heaters with batteries or you can plug the heater on electricity if staying in the campground.

Conclusion

We love camping but what happens when it starts raining? Remember, you should always prepare before going outdoors as you don’t know what to expect.

A waterproof cabin style tent is a perfect choice for family camping in the rain. These tents offer space and comfort and protect you from the rain and moisture.

When buying this kind of tent consider the points in this article to get the best out of your camping adventure. Also, make sure you stick to the additional tips as this way you will be calmer and won’t worry about your outdoor vacation getting worse.

So after a overnight trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles (and surprisingly well rested) on the American favourite ground transport, the greyhound. Haru had to return back to Japan early for work reasons (yeah, on our honeymoon, that’s what Japan thinks of newly married couples – they should cut honeymoons short for work reasons). So half of the day was spent navigating our way to LAX, and then working out how to leave the airport and get to my Wimdu booked accommodation just off Hollywood Boulevard. I strongly suggest to book your accommodation early by searching best places to stay online to get the best offer. I think in total, I got a train, bus, group shared mini-bus and the subway. It seemed to take forever and I can see why everyone has a car or hire limousines like 2021 Rolls Royce Cullinan Chauffeur Services.

Anyway, I’ll try not to moan too much like a typical Brit on holiday. But seriously LA – sort your public transportation out, you can use virtually any other country in the world as an example on how to improve your tourists ability to get around for those who don’t drive, or just don’t want to spend their time in your city in a traffic jam.

Ahem, I digress.

So downtown LA, from Greyhound, get uber taxi to train station, train station to a train near LAX, then another bus (paid for private company, not part of the general public transport to help people get to the airport) to the airport to say goodbye, followed by another shared bus company to get back into Hollywood. It was a mess and a lot of transfers just to go to an from the airport.

So anyway, now in Hollywood, why’s a guy to do? Well the star walk of course. As that’s pretty much the only thing to do there, anything else apart from watching a movie at the Chinese Theatre requires more transportation away. I was tempted by the tours on offer by guys hanging out at the side of the street, but had the feeling if I had planned this in advance I could have gotten a better deal. Because of all the time navigating LA’s transportation structure, I was out at late afternoon by the time I got to think about any tourist attractions, and quite frankly I didn’t want to be driven around in a bus looking at some celebrities houses in the dark. Maybe that was because I don’t care about celebrities or because I didn’t want to pay $60 for a drive around at night after already spending most of the day waiting and transporting.

Kilimanjaro

1. It is 5895M tall making it the world’s tallest free standing mountain.

It’s well known Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest mountain at , but it is also the tallest mountain in the world which isn’t part of a mountain range like Mt. Everest is.

2. Trekkers on fast routes can make it up in 4 days.

This is fairly rare and most people take 5-9 days. The fast ascent meaning altitude sickness is fairly common, and those not used to altitude are better off taking longer to make it up than trying to zoom up in record time.

3. There are 6 official routes to the top.

The Official Routes

Of those 5, 1 (Mweka) is for descent only. From the South there are three routes – Machame, Umbwe, and Marangu. Two routes from the west – Shira and Lemosho and Rongai approaches from the North-East. The Northern Circuit is a seventh route option that approaches from the West using the Lemosho start point, but then circles around the north of Kilimanjaro and follows a summit passage going via Gilman’s Point.

4. It was first summatied in 1889

Although it was likely climbed before by locals, it was never recorded who went up first. However Hans Meyer, Ludwig Purtscheller and a local called Lauwo were the first to record making it to the top in October 1889.

5. The highest altitude pizza delivery was at Kilimanjaro

When you gotta have pizza, you gotta have pizza. And Mount Kilimanjaro is home to the highest recorded altitude for a pizza delivery! It was done in May 2016 by Pizza Hut. Dominos and Papa Johns are going to have to tackle Everest to beat this record now!

6. The fastest ascent took under 6 hours.

Yes, the fast trekkers do it in 4 days, but Spanish Kilian Jornet broke the record to summit in an astonishing 5 hours 22 minutes and 50 seconds! This smashed the previous record by Italian Bruno Brunod broke the record to summit Uhuru Peak in 2001 when he managed it in 5 hours 38 minutes 40 seconds. The fastest roundtrip was accomplished in 2004, when local guide Simon Mtuy went up and down the mountain in 8 hours and 27 minutes.

7. The climate is hugely varied along the mountain.

Virtually every type of ecological system can be found on this mountain, including cultivated land, rain forest, heath, moorland, alpine desert, and of course an arctic summit.

8. Approximately 35,000 people a year try to climb Kilimanjaro.

You could join them too! But it’s also worth noting only around two thirds of people actually make it to the top. Altitude sickness stops the majority of that one third from making it to the top. But the odds are in favour of you making it to the top still. Let me know in the comments if you’ve tackled Mt. Kilimanjaro and how it went for you!

You’ve seen pictures of them online; you’ve heard about them from your friends; you’ve read about them in travel books. “Destinations you must see,” but which don’t have quite a stellar reputation behind them for whatever reason.

Fellow travelers Agness and Cez of eTramping.com will present you with six such locations. We just need to make an important note beforehand.

Agness and Cez

The truth is that every country has some skeletons in the closet if we’re to put it that way. Well, we’re here to prove that each and every one of these places is worth the trip.

#1 India

There are currently over 1 billion 200 million people in India. Delhi is the third most populated urban area in the world, with almost 25 million inhabitants.

As such, it’s no wonder that you will find many different types of individuals in the country. Some of which are bound to be bad apples. If you’re worried about scammers and crime – you just need to be careful as you would be in any other country.

Taj Mahal

On the other hand, you might want to avoid Kashmir because of the Pakistani-Indian conflicts in the area. Women might also want to travel accompanied by someone. Due to cultural differences, some Indian men might make unwanted advances.

Other than that, it’s as safe as anywhere else. When it comes to destinations you must see, India is definitely worth a few trips. That’s due to each of the 29 states having quite a different culture behind them. Obviously, that means 29 times more fun!

#2 Brazil

A lot of the news of violence from Brazil is due to stories from major cities such as Rio de Janeiro being more widely publicized.

Still, when you look at the actual numbers, places like Rio aren’t more unsafe than, say, Chicago in the U.S. It might also help if tourists made themselves appear less like tourists and more like locals. That means no flashing of your new camera or jewelry! Those just make you a bulls-eye for pickpockets and muggers, regardless of where in the world you are.

Rio de Janeiro

It’s also just a case of large cities having more widespread crime than the countryside. Speaking of which, you should add Brazil’s countryside to your list of destinations you must see.
The Pantanal is an exceptionally beautiful place, especially if you want to see a lot of wildlife. If you still need to get a feel of the urban landscapes in Brazil while being extra safe, try Florianopolis!

#3 North Korea

We know what you’re thinking, but it’s true. North Korea is not part of our list of destinations you must see for no good reason.

We’ve traveled there, and let us tell you – the country doesn’t deserve the bad name it has for itself. And it especially doesn’t deserve its spot in the new “Axis of Evil” with Iran, either. In any case, what you will find is a closed-off country with a natural allure. The beauty of the country has only recently been open to tourists. You’d better make the most of it while you still can!

In North Korea

Only authorized North Korea tours can take you on a trip of a lifetime into the DPRK. You won’t have as much freedom to explore like in other places, but don’t get discouraged. North Korea offers a lot of things that you won’t find anywhere else, like the opportunity to see the live that’s not yet affected by the capitalist world we all got so used to. It would be an opportunity for you to compare the image that media outlets have painted for you against the real life that thrives within the country (and yes, you will be allowed to take as many pictures as you like).

#4 Antarctica

One word: penguins! You’ll see a lot of them here, especially if you cruise around the mainland. Not to mention all the seals, millions of seabirds, whales, and whatever polar animals you can dream up.

Seal colonies also tend to sleep on the shore and almost never pay attention to human visitors that also arrive in big numbers on Antarctic cruises. It’s quite a different experience not seeing animals run away from you like you’re some kind of predator.

Emperor Penguins

In any case, many people have a mental image of Antarctica being a frozen, frightening wasteland. We can assure you that it’s not the case. It’s really one of those destinations you must see for yourself before jumping to conclusions.

#5 The Philippines

If you’re going to the Philippines, just be careful of the false advertising of Pagudpud Beach, and the locals in some areas. We don’t know if it was just a coincidence, but many locals seemed pushy and treated us poorly. Though, to be honest, some were very respectful all the same.

Manila

Oh, and one more thing. Watch out for the food! Quite simply, most of it is greasy and fat. We ended up cooking most of our meals ourselves. Yum!

Truth be told, the Philippines are one of those destinations you must see just for the amazing scenery. The Rice Terraces in Banaue will blow you away, and we’re mildly sad nobody had the idea to paint the Alona beach in the morning.

#6 Colombia

Despite a lot of cartel activity, Colombia might be a lot safer than Europe and the U.S. at the moment. It’s definitely not as bad as it was back in the 90s and 2000s.

Once you get over the whole “Narcos” mental image of Colombia, you can find a country of immense beauty. Whether you’re headed to Medellin, the capital of Bogota, or the lush island of San Andres, there’s something in Colombia for everyone.

As always, you should make yourself look like a local as much as possible. This holds true for many South American countries. We’ve mentioned this for Brazil, and we’ll repeat it for Colombia – so that it sticks!

Colombia

Destinations You Must See – Tips You Must Follow!

There are some unspoken rules of traveling to another country, no matter how safe it is (or isn’t):

Look inconspicuous. The more “local” you seem, the fewer problems you’ll have! That means no flashy jewelry. Unless you’re not visiting some sort of palace and want to look the part, we recommend leaving all that at home.

Keep your cash in multiple different pockets – even if one of them is compromised, you’ll still be one step ahead! If possible, keep your wallet in hotel safes and only take the necessities with you. Losing some cash is no big deal; losing your passport and visa might be a massive headache.

Be polite and respecting of the local customs. That will usually keep you out of trouble, no matter where you are. You can usually research them online before heading on the trip.

Most importantly, don’t be afraid of visiting places others might deem “dangerous.” Any country has its danger zone(s), no matter how civilized we think it is. At the same time, they all have their own little paradise. That’s where people can enjoy their holidays without a care in the world. And so can you!

Are you a fan of extreme tourism? Then welcome to Armenia!

Due to the mountainous terrain, favorable climate, and amazing natural attractions such as extinct volcanoes, cliffs, and mountain lakes, Armenia is one of the most suitable countries for adventure tourism. Moreover, the world-renowned National Geographic Traveler magazine has included Armenia in the list of the top three

countries in the nomination “Active and extreme tourism”. At the moment, the country’s tour operators are working on the developing of this kind of tourism creating tours to the best spots throughout Armenia. So, if you cannot imagine your holiday without a portion of adrenalin consider Armenia as your next travel destination. And in this article, you can get acquainted with the country’s best options.

MOUNTAINEERING AND CLIMBING

Khustup Climbing

Armenian reliefs are ideal for climbers. There are not so many specially equipped climbing routes, but all of them will fully satisfy lovers of climbing.

Noravank gorge. The gorge is located 80 km south-east of Yerevan. The steep limestone cliffs are ideal for rock climbing, and the surrounding nature with its vegetation and a river are indescribably beautiful. There are several climbing routes equipped with station hooks and jumpers in the gorge. In addition, you can stay at riverfront vacation rentals to enjoy the gorgeous views.

Garni Gorge. At a distance of 30 km from Yerevan, there is a Garni gorge with its rocky basalt columns. Due to its uniqueness, the gorge was called “the symphony of stones” – a beauty beyond words. The basalt columns emerged because of the eruption of volcanic lava. If you look from a distance, the valley reminds of a huge organ (musical instrument). The gorge stretches along the River Azat, with a total length – 55m. Tourist buses stop far away from the gorge, so you will have to go there on foot or you can take a taxi or rent a car in Yerevan which will take you directly to the gorge.
Mountain Khustup. One of the most popular destinations for mountaineers is a peak of Khustup Mountain – the highest peak (3206 m) in Khustup-Katari range. Climbing to it is rather difficult, but you will get experience and impressions for a lifetime. If you are a first-time mountaineer and want to get a first-hand experience from an expert, then you might want to read this female mountaineer memoir first before going on your first mountaineering quest.

Mount Aragats. One of the four peaks of Mount Aragats is the highest in the country and if you are a professional climber, you should definitely conquer it. The height of the lowest peak is 3879 m, and the height of the highest one is 4090 m.
Tsakhkadzor. For winter recreation, Armenia invites fans of adventure tourism to the ski resorts. The most popular resort of Tsakhkadzor is located 60 km from Yerevan. It is located on the slopes of Mount Teghenis which are perfect for skiing and snowboarding. The resort town has all the necessary equipment for these outdoor activities: three-stage cable car corresponding to the highest standards and the ski tracks with a total length of 7200 m. The highest point for skiing which is 2819 m high offers a magnificent view of Mount Ararat and surrounding beauties. In the town, you can rent skis, snowboards, and snowmobiles as well as use the service of instructors.

Jermuk. Another great place for outdoor activities – Jermuk resort, which is located at a distance of 180 km from Yerevan. The resort town has a modern double chairs cable car and two tracks for skiing (1400m and 1300m).

PARAGLIDING

Paragliding, also popular

The climate and the reliefs in Armenia are also suitable for paragliding flights. In recent years, this kind of activity is becoming more and more popular and the tour operators in Armenia started to develop special paragliding tours in various places.

Hatis Mount (starting point at an altitude of 1890 m). Hatis Mount is located about 25 km away from Yerevan, it is of volcanic origin, and its height is of 2520 m. The terrain has plains for planting, and moreover, here you can fly at any time of the year. The best season is spring and autumn. It is an ideal place for beginners.

Aparan (starting point at an of altitude 2450 m). The mountain range is 60 km away from Yerevan. The area has a smooth take-off area, but the winds here are frequent and strong. Take into account that you can reach this place only by off-road car as there is no asphalt route leading to the flying area. An appropriate car you can rent in Yerevan.

Tsovagyugh village (starting point at an altitude of 2300 m). The village is located at a distance of 75 km away from Yerevan, on the shore of Lake Sevan – the pearl of Armenian nature. The flight over the lake and the mountains will give you unforgettable impressions. In addition, the area is ideal for long-term soaring. The weather here is capricious: frequent fogs, strong winds, and high humidity. The best season for flights is from July to September.

This guest post is by Jessica Gold of Travel Wkly, enjoy!

South Korea’s largest city is its capital Seoul. The city dates back to 18 BC and now has a population exceeding 10 million and the city’s metropolitan area has a population exceeding 25 million, making it the second most populated metropolitan areas in the world. Located on the banks of the Han River, the city is surrounded by mountains, the tallest being Mt. Bukhan home to the most visited of any national park in the world, by square footage. In the center of the city is Namsan Mountain which has a cable car that runs to the peak where there is the N Seoul Tower, which, although primarily a communications tower, also has an observation and entertainment amenities. There are, of course, many attractions in a city this size and it is the most popular of any city visited by Chinese, Japanese and Thai tourists. Some of the most amazing places to see in Seoul are:

5. Hike in the City

Namsan Mountain

Perhaps somewhat unusual for a major city, you will see people dressed for a hiking adventure even in the subways, complete with their hiking poles and backpacks. This is because there are some amazing walks, not only on the mountains surrounding the city but also within the city. Hiking up Namsan Mountain is a popular pastime, as is hiking along Cheonggyecheon Stream. Depending on the type of hike, from day hiking to backpacking, there are different types of activities you can enjoy in the great outdoors. This is a stream 8.4km long that runs through the center of the city and has whose banks have been made into a green recreation area where people go, not just to hike but also just to get away from the bustle of the busy streets.

4. Go Back in Time

Old Korean Houses

When you walk through the hills and winding streets of the Bukchon Hanok Village, located near the Royal Palace, the houses have been maintained in their old traditional ancient style. Walking through these streets is like walking through the history of Korea, even though some of the houses are now guest houses, souvenir shops, restaurants or boutiques the houses themselves evoke an amazing ancient Asian atmosphere. You may also research online if you’re looking for a Dine In Family Restaurant.

3. Discover the Amazing Array of Museums

Seoul Museum

As with most major cities, Seoul has its share of museums but apart from the main historical museum that includes exhibits dating all the way back to the stone-age and the War Memorial and Museum which has some interesting outdoor exhibits that feature giant missiles, helicopters, planes and tanks, there is the Seoul Museum of Chicken Art which exhibits the well-known chicken in less traditional style, as it has been portrayed through culture and art through the ages and the Bomun Pavilion which has been nicknamed a museum without walls. The pavilion is a small gazebo, made of wood that stands beside a duck pond and is said to be the ideal place to witness the four seasons; winter with its blanket of snow, fall with its mixture of mustard and scarlet foliage, the summer’s lush green and of course the magnificence of cherry blossom at its best.

2. Enjoy a Theme Park Fan’s Dream

I want to go here!

Lotte Amusement Park is the second largest theme park in the world which also includes perhaps the largest indoor theme park in the world as well as skating rinks and bowling alleys. Although theme parks may now be fairly common, most are not as big or amazing as this one.

1. See Royal Extravagance

Royal Palace

According to many tour guide blog, Seoul’s Royal Palace is Korea’s most popular tourist attraction and although restored as late as 1867, some of the over 300 buildings date back to 1395 when the palace was first built. The opulence that the old royalty enjoyed is evident in some of the 5,793 rooms. The palace covers over 4 million square feet, which fortunately, possibly because only 40% of the buildings still stand, allow room for the millions of visitors it receives annually.

After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, we decided to continue our bus tour to the end before returning into the city centre. The bus continued in an extended part of the tour to Sausalito, somewhere I’d never heard of or planned to visit, but thought we should as it was part of the tour so had free transport there effectively. The tour used a separate smaller bus for this, as the main tour bus turned around and went back across the bridge and into the city.

Sausalito had a similar vibe to SF but on a smaller scale, and more themed around the bridge and sea, mostly noted by the sea food restaurants, some of which were on their own raised platforms over the sea. It was late morning for us, so we stopped in a cafe and enjoyed the view al la carte, something well worth doing after a long walk across the bridge.

Backstreets of S Sausalito with art galleries

There isn’t a whole lot to do in Sausalito besides a couple of art galleries and tours, so I wouldn’t recommend going there for long or putting it on a bucket list, but what it does offer is a welcome break from the city and walking or cycling across the bridge, it makes a decent lunch break, although if you’re not into sea food then the choices are limited especially compared to SF’s usual foodie choices. What you do get however is a nice overview of the city, and the bridges crossing into it. Maybe it can’t be appreciated as much on a typical SF foggy day, but I can’t find much reason to complain on a clear day. I don’t think I’d make my way there again without a good reason but wouldn’t advice against it for people who have never been before.

Sausalito Port from the Golden Gate Bridge

Before we set back on the bus into the city, we got to walk right at the bottom of the bridge and look up at it. It seems that at any angle this bridge is viewed, it’s impressive. Even the ducks seem to think of it as a nice place to live.

Ducks under the bridge

When preparing to take a holiday, travellers have a lot of options in regards to possible destinations. Often the climate and weather of a certain region comes into play and for some people, the nations of the South Pacific provide a temperate climate that appeals to them while on holiday. Not only do these nations offer temperate climates but they also offer visitors a host of activities in which to participate. For instance, the casino industry is popular in this region with many countries having their own casinos. They also offer an online casino, which is convenient for everyone. Those who are unable to visit physical casino locations may still play dewi222 games through online casinos. A trusted platform like bet on red casino provides a fantastic opportunity for players to enjoy a wide variety of games, enhancing the overall appeal of online gambling.

The Australian City of Perth provides an excellent casino for travellers. Formerly known as the Burswood Entertainment Complex, the name has since been changed and shortened to the Crown Perth and this casino offers casino gambling opportunities around the clock. When guests which to take a break for a meal, they can select from seven different restaurants offering an extensive range of cuisine.

The Philippines offer many different casinos and one of the best is located in Cebu City. Here the Casino Filipino offers guests a midsized casino, expect to find a nice range of casino games, these would include: blackjack, craps, baccarat, roulette, bingo, mini baccarat and slot machines. The casino is open 24 hours with the exception of certain holidays when it is closed.

Two casinos have been opened in Vanuatu since it gained its independence from France and Britain who co-managed the island nation. Both casinos are found within the same city and are part of hotels. One of these is the Club 21 Limited – Its game offerings are a bit more limited than the second casino here which is the Palms Casino.
Tunisia holidays have long been a favoured destination for tourists getting away to soak up the year-round sunshine in a luxury inn or a villa rental of the coast, but to discover the real character of this magical North African land, you must go off the beaten track. Here are the top 5 things to do for adventurous travellers.

1. Trek into the Sahara Desert

Yep. That’s how good it looks

The Sahara truly is another world. The largest desert in the world is far from being just a flat expanse of sand; you will travel through diverse landscapes from rolling sand dunes and remote valleys to vibrant, green oases. Whether you travel by jeep tours, quad bike or camel, to trek through the Sahara is an unforgettable experience. When you stop for the night at a traditional Bedouin encampment, you will be awe-struck by the magnificence of the night sky: the stars really do seem closer here.

2. The caves of Matmata

Familiar to readers of this travel blog, the caves are home to thousands of Troglodytes (cave-dwellers).

You can stay here in an underground troglodyte hotel where you might be able to spot items such as vintage Oriental rugs. The caves are a popular destination for travelers, so get here early to avoid the crowds and enjoy the incredible atmosphere of this unusual community.

3. Tunis and Sidi Bou Said

A street in Sidi Bou Said

The contemporary city of Tunis includes the ancient area of Sidi Bou Said. Its cobbled streets, white-washed buildings, draped with bougainvillea, giant eucalyptus trees and constantly changing views of the glimmering blue Mediterranean will charm every visitor. If you’re in the mood for a great meal while exploring, you can also check out the pullman buffet in tokyo for a taste of luxurious dining in a stunning setting.

4. Carthage

Tunisia is rich in archaeological remains, and the city of Tunis contains the spectacular remnants of the legendary city of Carthage, the birthplace of Hannibal. Carthage was razed to the ground by the Romans, only to be rebuilt later by Julius Caesar. It then became one of the three most important cities of the Roman Empire.

5. Tozeur

This ancient, inland city was once the hub of the old caravan trading routes, and is still a fascinating place to visit. Here you can see the incredible irrigation system, thousands of years old, which is still used to water the date plantations. Tozeur is an excellent place to visit to get a real flavour of Tunisian culture; the Ouled el Hadef quarter, built of the characteristic local brick, dates back to the 14th century.

Bursting with character, history and intrigue, Tunisia is a place well worth exploring.
