Adventures in a Messy Life

October Month in Review

Ticia — Wed, 04 Nov 2026 22:25:00 +0000

October is October. There you go. (There are potentially affiliate links in here) Let’s see….. The pictures are all out of order. So, I’ll just comment on the pictures in order of how I see them. First I got the random funny picture of Leezard because she accidentally got her head stuck in one of those refrigerated bags, because there was something that smelled good to her…

William Tyndale LEGO history lesson

Ticia — Thu, 29 Oct 2026 19:29:56 +0000

A week or so ago, I was listening to the Christian History Almanac Podcast and they mentioned it is the 500th anniversary of the publication of William Tyndale’s English New Testament. I knew William Tyndale was important, after all I feature him in my Reformation Unit, and he’s in my history lesson, but I hadn’t thought about how important that was until I started listening to that podcast and…

Africa Unit

Ticia — Thu, 22 Oct 2026 22:25:00 +0000

Sometimes we form odd associations. There is this absolutely silly video of countries playing Risk at the end of the video the different countries playing all decide to invade Africa, because that’s what all of Europe did in the 1800s. I’m not really sure why it didn’t happen until the 1800s. But now whenever I say Africa, I have to repeat it using that really bad accent. The kids get to hear it a…

Guinea-Bissau Unit

Ticia — Mon, 05 Oct 2026 21:03:19 +0000

Okay y’all, I’ve had a load of these sitting in my drafts folder for years. YEARS! And I am now sitting down and writing them again. This does mean I am digging through my brain and rewatching the videos we used to help me remember (such a difficulty). Our Guinea-Bissau geography lesson was fun and the food was unique. It was a fun part of our Africa Unit. Here’s the challenge for many…

September in Review

Ticia — Thu, 01 Oct 2026 06:03:00 +0000

September started out with a bang! (there are affiliate links in here) The first week of September hit and found Jeff and I frantically trying to get the house ready for sale. We were getting all of the last things done. There were so many things to do, but we had it all done. FINALLY! Which meant it was finally time to go couch shopping! I was very excited by this…

August in Review

Ticia — Tue, 08 Sep 2026 21:30:00 +0000

Okay, this month is all about moving. That’s really all I’ve done. It’s now August 19 and I’m just now having time to write anything, that tells you a lot. (There are affiliate links here) While there may have been things that happened earlier in the week, mostly that week was me packing like a madwoman and throwing things in boxes. Yeah, that was pretty much it.

Treasure Island Book Club

Ticia — Wed, 26 Aug 2026 19:30:00 +0000

Hi, Future Ticia 2026 here and today I heard the new that Tim Curry had died and I was thinking about some of the movies I associate him with. Muppet Treasure Island came to mine and I remembered how we watched it for our book and a movie back when we read it for a 6th-grade Books Made into Movies. I think this might have been one of our road-trip books. Either way, I am thinking about his amazing…

July in Review

Ticia — Tue, 11 Aug 2026 22:25:00 +0000

Okay, I’m typing this up really quick before I start dinner. It’s August 3, and I haven’t written most of this post. July has just been insane. And that is a massive understatement. (There are affiliate links here) This has been a busy busy week. Batman is down to visit for his summer block leave, and so we arranged to rent a U-Haul on Friday so we could move a bunch…

Lightning Fast Field Guide to the Bible Review

Ticia — Mon, 13 Jul 2026 19:17:40 +0000

I love finding useful Bible tools and things that help with Bible skills. I use them in my bible lessons to help me write them and in my Bible Study. They can help you focus and figure out what is important to study. One of my favorite YouTubers and Podcasters was releasing a book and of course I pre-ordered it, and now that it’s here, let’s review the Lightning Fast Field Guide to the Bible.

June in review 2026

Ticia — Thu, 02 Jul 2026 17:20:00 +0000

Life continues to be a confusing mess. I almost typed May, that shows you where my head is at. Technically that big picture on the left is actually the last day of May, but let me tell you about that. I told the kids all about how Tara’s daughter, who is still a young child pretends to be a cat and licks Tara to show affection much to Tara’s annoyance, so Superman was like…
