Made a bunch of music again

2012-03-19T14:54:00.000-07:00

I've been messing around with Fruity Loops again. Made a couple of tracks this past month. Though I might share. Here they are

Piano play! Woo!

A nameless project. Didn't really have a name to go with it.

Sounds somewhat better on my computer.

My first ever try to do something resembleing classical music in FL9

Turned out okay, if maybe a little repetitive.

1337 skillz. Unbeatable.

I want to be this guy

The Humble Indie Bundle

2011-12-18T09:49:00.000-08:00

A friend gifted me the Humble Indie Bundle games pack.
Coolio.

Shank

Super Meat Boy

NightSky

Jamestown

Bit.Trip Runner

All are great games. I like Shank most, though.

Super Meat Boy just manages to make me rage.
The picture of me falling into a god damn hacksaw is burned into my god damn retina.

Despite it's power to influence me to stab homeless people and kidnap children, it's a solid game.
It would be a lot better though, If meat boy would scream in agonizing pain every time he falls into flames and his flesh starts melting off. Then I would even do it on purpose to relieve the anger.

Toodles! :3
PS: You're now famous, Ra.

Batman: Arkham City review

2011-12-15T05:56:00.000-08:00

So I just finished with Arkham City. That was weird. Kinda short.

I'm getting tired of games that are short and try to pack on extra lenght by adding side missions and unlockable costumes.

But nevertheless, this was a great game.

Frollicking around Arkham City

The story gets twisted and turned upside down multiple times and it manages to keep things interesting.
All the encountered characters, their dialogues and behaviour, are marvellous. Just listening to Dr. Freeze talk is an ear orgasm.

His computer froze. Harr harr.

The gameplay is fluid. Although the combat seems to drag on sometimes, it's quite pleasent bashing in some skulls with some endgame upgrades like the combo build thingy. The controls are solid, except when you have to dodge a blade attack. That seemed a bit weird. Gliding and grappling are easy to master and really fun.

Playing as Catwoman is equally awesome.

The sound. The combat sound effects are just so satisfying. The punching, whipcracks, grappling hook etc. sounds are so crisp. The music kicks in at the best times and is generally heavenly. Might even download the OST.

I don't even...

The graphics. Well, it seemed to me as if nothing had changed since Arkham Asylum. The animation seems a bit more fluid though.

The only problem I found is that it's very hard. A god damn room full of Tyger guards with thermal vision, snipers,mines and heartbeat monitors. ;___;

But that makes achieveing your goal all the more satisfying.

Oh..my..god

Oh lawdy. I want this lizard now.

Weird stuff post

2011-12-12T23:52:00.001-08:00

So much creepy, so little time. Found this on a random Tumblr I was on.

Trine

2011-12-12T14:51:00.000-08:00

So I just got Trine 2 about 3 days ago. Made 2 gameplay videos of it.

Really good game. Innovative puzzles nad fun gameplay. The graphics are nice and colourful not like most modern games where the graphics have been shat on. What I found awesome was that Mana has been removed altogether and the mage can levitate enemies. Very cool indeed.

I suggest you give it a try.

Augmented Reality

2011-12-12T14:23:00.000-08:00

Made a Powerpoint presentation on Augmented reality today.
I personally think it was very interesting so I decided to share.

Definition of augmented reality

On the spectrum between virtual reality, which creates immersive, computer-generated environments, and the real world, augmented reality is closer to the real world. Augmented reality adds graphics, sounds, haptic feedback and smell to the natural world as it exists.

Both video games and cell phones are driving the development of augmented reality. Everyone from tourists, to soldiers, to someone looking for the closest subway stop can now benefit from the ability to place computer-generated graphics in their field of vision.

Hardware

The main hardware components for augmented reality are: processor, display, sensors and input devices. These elements, specifically CPU, display, camera and MEMS sensors such as accelerometer, GPS, solid state compass are often present in modern smartphones, which make them prospective AR platforms.

HMD

A head-mounted display (HMD) places images of both the physical world and registered virtual graphical objects over the user's view of the world. The HMD's are either optical see-through or video see-through. Optical see-through employs half-silver mirrors to pass images through the lens and overlay information to be reflected into the user's eyes.

Practical examples

Junaio

Previously, the Junaio app was its own social network that allowed users to create AR scenes by importing 3D models into still images captured from the phone's camera.

A few weeks after releasing the updated application, Junaio announced it had formed a partnership with BART, San Francisco's Bay Area Rapid Transit system, to bring live train data to the app.

Subway maps have been one of the more popular implementations of AR on mobile phones, especially with Paris-based developers Presselite and their popular, award-winning Metro Paris Subway application. With this latest release, Junaio is taking advantage of the API provided by BART to not only place locations of nearby stations in a user's field of vision, but also estimated arrival time of trains at each station displayed live in real-time in the AR point-of-view.

HUD Firefighter Helmet

No matter what the environment conditions are the new Draeger HUD system will always provide valuable cylinder information directly to the firefighter. The HUD is positioned inside the mask for maximum protection and performance.

If you look at your hand and make a fist, a menu pops up which you can navigate by making gestures with your fingers.

The mask can display the percentage of toxins in the air, ambient temperature and shows through walls, where other firefighters are and the real time generated map of the building.

The Head Up Disoplay of the Helmet.

And thats about it for today.

Thanks for reading.
