But if you’re traveling solo, keep in mind that Boulevard Port-Royal gets deserted at night. It’s around an 8-10 minute walk down Boulevard Port-Royal from either the Port-Royal or Les Gobelins stops. The route from Luxembourg station is a bit longer but a bit more traversed.

Thanks for this honest piece. It’s odd that the creepy old man thing so colors one’s view of a place, but I’ve had that experience elsewhere, too. Sometimes one thing poisons a whole place. Still, I’d like to see Chiang Mai one day…

You know, I understand your point, but you also said that a ring won’t protect you from an attacker. Why would a boyfriend (that is not with you at the moment) be different? If the “jump in her bed” comment was about the men making advances, then I think you’d just have to reject them?

I don’t mean to offend you! I’m just curious because I have plans for travelling some day.

I’ve seen iPhoneography, but haven’t used it yet. I love old photos (I even have an old one at my blog right now). I also have a special connection to Paris since hubby proposed to me below the Sacre Coeur basilica – very romantic ))

I agree! My family is from Bangkok (I was born and raised in the states) and love Chiang Mai… I never saw the appeal, it seemed kind of an empty shell to be honest. A place that is set up but yet not quite so for tourists…
