&lt;p&gt;By now, I do hope you have heard of Gordon Ramsey, host of “Kitchen Nightmares” and “Hell’s Kitchen”.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If not, I would highly suggest watching the “Kitchen Nightmares” show sometime soon. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;First, a WARNING: Thin-skinned folks need not tune in. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you cannot handle foul language and incredibly abrasive personalities, do not watch Gordon’s show! &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He is rude, loud, in-your-face, and LOVES swearing to get his point across (and everything is a point, so pretty well every sentence consists of swear words).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I am not going to go too much into Gordon’s past, but, rest assured, this ex-professional Scottish football player has a list of credentials that is long, and highly admirable. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He is now working on his 25th restaurant and many of them have multiple Michelin stars to their name (the most recognized and influential culinary ratings guide).&amp;nbsp; He has multiple best selling cookbooks, 4 television shows and a DVD series, to name a few. The story line behind a kitchen nightmare …&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Gordon comes into restaurants that are almost ready to close their doors, for any one of multiple different reasons.&amp;nbsp; He has 1 week to turn the business around and make it a success. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He is a no-bull guy and when he starts, there is no stopping him.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Why is this important to you?&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Find out what foods they want the most, or that they have a tough time finding.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Find out who the regulars are and what they want. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Find out which restaurants are doing best in your area – then go in there to sample their food and service, always looking for ideas to improvise upon.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; And, very important, if it is a seasonal business or location – make sure that the restaurant caters to those who live there year round! Those are the people who keep the restaurant open – catering to one-time tourists is a sure-fire way to bankruptcy.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;*************************************&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Step # 4 – Find the signature dishes&lt;br /&gt;*************************************&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Such a simple concept that so many businesses (in every possible niche) completely ignore. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; What is the one dish that the head chef enjoys making the most? &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Usually, Gordon finds out that the chef has an incredible signature plate that is not on the menu.&amp;nbsp; Why?&amp;nbsp; The owner is usually the problem.&amp;nbsp; As Gordon says, “owners should never write the menu – the head chef should be the one to design the menu”.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;*************************************&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Step #5 - Simplify the menu and the number of choices&lt;br /&gt;*************************************&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Being able to double business in a week, without loss in quality or without increase wait times, is something Gordon does in every restaurant he walks into.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Usually, an afternoon of that and they have enough curiosity built up to guarantee their first night’s dinner is packed with diners and hungry new customers.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt; The 7-step formula above sounds simple, but it consistently turns failing restaurants around in 1 single week. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The customers love the new choices (the ones they told you to start making), the staff become much more motivated to deliver consistent service, and the restaurant very quickly starts to make a profit.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; It’s about the story you give them to tell others&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; When you hire a professional to help – try listening to their advice for a change (not that any customers who hire a copywriter or marketing consultant would ever ignore the advice of an expert!)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;What you hear most on the show: “%^&amp;amp;#ing HELL!” (which he says every time he sees something that is destroying the business – about every 32 seconds you will hear him say “%^&amp;amp;#ing HELL!”&lt;/p&gt;

howling… not exactly prime conditions for being outside.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;On the 12&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; hole (after yet another triple bogey),
I looked just up ahead and noticed the view of the campground just down the
cliff, on the edge of the river. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;What startled me was the fact that the campground was
PACKED.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Now if this was a long weekend, or even just a nice warm
weekend, I would understand. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;No, this was a cold, miserable, windy weekend and everone
and their dog had just hauled their 30 foot trailers out to the campground.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;It’s no big surprise that oil prices are through the roof,
and gas prices are now over $5.50 where I live (and the &lt;st1:placetype w:st="on"&gt;&lt;/st1:placetype&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;What was a surprise though was the sheer number of big arse
trucks and trailer units I saw at the campground. Gas prices were not enough to deter
them. The weather was not enough to
deter them. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;So what does this have to do with you?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;It holds a very important lesson for anyone in sales or
marketing, and anyone who runs their own business...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;No matter what the gas or oil prices are… no matter how bad
the economy is… no matter how disastrous the media is painting things out to
be…&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;…people will find the money to spend on things they want.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;If they want it bad enough… nothing, come hell or high
water, will stand in their way from getting it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Sure there are tough times out there for some people. But there are ample amounts of people that will
spend their money on what they WANT to buy. Not what they need to buy – but what they want to buy… a very important
difference.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Drill that difference into your marketing mind.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;All those trailers out there did not have to be there. The owners did not need to spend all that
money on gas to go away for a cold, windy weekend – they wanted to.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Sell to their inner most wants – and the price becomes much
less important.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

that will pay a premium for getting a better experience.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;In 3 hours and 18 minutes I will be sitting down to be
interviewed about Wild West. &amp;nbsp;No, it is
not a national station – yet.&amp;nbsp;But, it is
a very effective station to be on for local coverage and exposure to the
professional marketplace. &amp;nbsp;Shaw Channel
10 is a 24x7 news channel for local stories of interest. &amp;nbsp;Some of them are flakes (some guy was on last
night talking some woowoo stuff that had even the very open minded interviewer
shaking her head in a complete state of confusion and disbelief).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;So I am a little nervous about it, but not more than
anything else that I jump into for the first time. &amp;nbsp;Being nervous like this is actually a very
good thing – it keeps me on edge and keeps my excitement level high. &amp;nbsp;Rather than a lackadaisical approach – I would
rather have fun, be excited, have something fun to share with people.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;I hired a PR firm this year to help me get on gigs like this
one – so far so good.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;There are also 2 other big announcements that are soon to
come from what the PR firm has helped me achieve… I can’t wait to tell you! &amp;nbsp;Just not yet.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;With the promotions of a live event – it takes a lot of work
and multiple different approaches. &amp;nbsp;I
have had a few people come to me lately with events being planned out.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;

THE common thread is their lack of knowledge about marketing
an event.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;“I have my first live event in 4 weeks – and I want 750
people there. I have no database either. Can you help me?”&lt;br /&gt;

to this lately. But I refuse to get involved in anything remotely like this –

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;I just had a signup from a guy that was at last years
event.&amp;nbsp;He has heard of this for the past
12 months. He could have gotten in for half the present price. Yet, it took 45 different
mentions of it before he FINALLY decided to proceed (thanks Scott, I look
forward to seeing you again). &amp;nbsp;That’s
from someone who saw the immense value provided last year – imagine what it

* 57.5% are going to invest in &amp;quot;business marketing seminars or
workshops&amp;quot; over the next 12 months, and 43.6% of you are going to
invest in &amp;quot;self-improvement/mindset courses and seminars&amp;quot;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;
* 83.4% of you said my information is above average - a number I need
to improve on - it should be much higher in my opinion - I will work
hard at delivering you better quality content that you can immediately

* Preferred learning methods: 22.8% prefer print materials and 21.1% prefer ebooks (showing ebooks are still quite a strong&lt;br /&gt;

you learn what is working and how to apply it&amp;quot; - now THAT is a very
important number to both me and you.&amp;nbsp; I will address this below.&lt;/p&gt;

IMPORTANT POINT #1: If you haven't done a survey like this to your list
- why not? Survey Monkey is invaluable - and next to free (there is a
free version - I used the upgraded one).&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;
There is no better (and faster) way to get to know your customers -
invaluable advice you will gain to help you build stronger
relationships, launch new (and more targeted) products and services. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;
Some of the information you get, you may not want to hear - but that advice is as valuable, even more, than the others. &lt;br /&gt;
Negative feedback can be very powerful and useful when it comes to reinventing your business and your targeting.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
IMPORTANT POINT #2: You are NOT ALONE.&amp;nbsp; I am not going to share all the
open ended comments here - there are pages and pages of them.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;
But, I can say this... a very significant percentage of you have
similar challenges, similar dreams and aspirations, and are looking for
systematized implementation programs to help you go to the next level
in your business and life.&lt;/p&gt;
