href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gFxpXjKoCtI/TZ8Y8uxaHiI/AAAAAAAAAjQ/PkRCh_ZEiV4/s1600/colors-from-the-grand.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gFxpXjKoCtI/TZ8Y8uxaHiI/AAAAAAAAAjQ/PkRCh_ZEiV4/s400/colors-from-the-grand.jpg" border="0" alt="Interest In Memory"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593216693843926562" />
A lot of people I know, invariably ask me why they
can't remember a thing, even though they write down everything
they wish to remember. Well, that's like asking why
they can't swim well, even though they tie a twenty pound
stone around their necks. The very fact that they do write
it, is probably why they forget; or rather, why they didn't
remember in the first place. As far as I'm concerned, the
phrase, "I forgot" should not be in the language. It should
be, "I didn't remember in the first place."
You cannot forget anything you ever really remembered.
If you were to write things down with the intent of aiding
your memory, or with the conscious thought of helping you
to be exact with the information, that would be fine. However,
using pencil and paper as a substitute for memory
(which most people do), is certainly not going to improve
it. Your handwriting may improve, or the speed of your
writing might improve, but your memory will get worse through neglect and non-use. You see, you usually write
things down only because you refuse or are too lazy to take
the slight effort or time to remember. Oliver Wendell
Holmes put it this way: "A man must get a thing before
he can forget it."
Please keep in mind that the memory likes to be trusted.
The more you trust it the more reliable and useful it will
become. Writing everything down on paper without trying
to remember, is going against all the basic rules for a
stronger and better memory. You're not trusting your memory;
you haven't the confidence in your memory; you're not
exercising the memory, and your interest is not strong
enough to retain it, if you must write it down. Remember
that you can always lose your paper or notebook, but not
your mind. If I may be allowed a small attempt at humor,
if you do lose your mind, it doesn't matter much if you
remember or not, does it?
Seriously, if you are interested in remembering, if you
have confidence that you will remember, you have no need
to write everything down. How many parents continually
complain that their children have terrible memories, because
they can't remember their school work, and consequently
get poor marks? Yet, some of these same children
can remember the batting averages of every baseball player
in the major leagues. They know all the rules of baseball; or
who made what great play in what year for which team, etc.
If they can remember these facts and figures so easily and
so well, why can't some of them retain their lessons at
school? Only because they are more interested in baseball
than they are in algebra, history, geography and other
school subjects.
The problem is not with their memories, but with their
lack of interest. The proof of the pudding is in the fact that
most children excel in at least one particular subject, even though they have poor marks in all the others. If a student
has a good memory for one subject, he is a good student in
that subject. If he can't remember, or has a poor memory
in that subject, he will be a poor student in that subject.
It's as simple as that. However, this proves that the student
does have a good memory for things that he likes, or is
interested in.
Many of you who went through High School had to take
a foreign language or two. Do you still remember these
languages? I doubt it. If you've travelled in foreign countries,
or to places where they speak these particular languages,
you've wished many times that you had paid more
attention in shcool. Of course, if you knew that you were
going to travel to these places, when you were in school,
you would have been interested in learning the language;
you would have wanted to do so. You'd have been amazed
to find how much better your marks would have been. I
know that this is true in my case. If I had known then that
I would want to know these languages, I'd have learned
and/or remembered much more easily. Unfortunately, I
didn't have a trained memory then.
Many women will complain that their memories are
atrocious, and that they can't remember a thing. These
same women will describe and remember in detail what a
lady friend was wearing when they met weeks ago. They
usually can spot another woman in a car travelling up to
forty miles an hour, and tell you what she's wearing; the
colors, her style of hairdo; whether the hair was natural or
bleached, and the woman's approximate age!
They'll probably even know how much money this
woman had. This, of course, goes out of the realm of memory
and starts to touch on psychic powers. The important
thing, the thing that I have been trying to stress in this
chapter, is that interest is of great importance to memory. If you can remember things that you are interested in to
such a tremendous degree, it proves that you do have a
good memory. It also proves that if you were as interested
in other things, you would be able to remember them just
as well.
The thing to do is to make up your mind that you will
be interested in remembering names, faces, dates, figures,
facts—anything; and that you will have confidence in your
ability to retain them. This, alone, without the actual systems
and methods of associations in this book, will improve
your memory to a noticeable degree. With the systems of
association as an aid to your true memory, you are on your
way to an amazingly remarkable and retentive memory.

Interest in Memory-1

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y_IFOSwas5U/TZ3ji-x4y0I/AAAAAAAAAjI/NHNUpUmRWN4/s400/black-pool-at-west-thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Interest in Memory"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592876502371322690" />

The true art of memory is the art of attention.
—Samuel Johnson

please read the following paragraph very carefully:—
You are driving a bus which contains fifty people. The bus
makes one stop and ten people get off, while three people get on.
At the next stop seven people get off the bus, and two people
get on. There are two more stops at which four passengers get
off each time, and three fares get on at one stop, and none at
the other. At this point, the bus has to stop because of mechanical
trouble. Some of the passengers are in a hurry and decide to
walk. So eight people get off the bus. When the mechanical
trouble is taken care of, the bus goes to the last stop, and the
rest of the people get off.
Now, without re-reading the paragraph, see if you can
answer two questions about it. I feel pretty sure that if I
asked you to tell me how many people were left on the
bus, or how many got off the bus at the last stop, you would
have the answer immediately. However, one of the questions
I want you to answer is:— How many stops did the
bus make altogether?
I may be wrong, but I don't think that many of you can
answer this question. The reason, of course, is that you all
felt sure that the question I would ask, after you read the paragraph, would pertain to the amount of people. Therefore
you gave your attention to the amount of people that
were getting on and off the bus. You were interested in the
amount of people. In short, you wanted to know or remember
how many people would be left on the bus. Since you
didn't think that the number of stops was important, you
didn't pay much attention to that. You weren't interested
in the amount of stops, therefore they didn't register in
your mind at all, and you didn't remember them.
However, if some of you did feel that the amount of stops
was important or if you felt you would be questioned on
that particular point; then you surely did know the answer
to my first question, or remembered the number of stops
that the bus made. Again, simply because you were interested
or wanted to know that particular information.
If you feel elated because you did answer my question;
don't. Because I doubt if you will answer the second one.
good friend of mine who is employed at Grossingers, a large
resort hotel, at which I perform quite often, uses this in his
afternoon quizzes. I know that a very small percentage of
the guests ever answer this correctly, if at all. Without looking
at that first paragraph again, you're to answer this question:—
What is the bus driver's name?
As I said, I doubt if any of you can answer this correctly,
if at all. Actually, this is more of a trick question on observation
than it is a memory test. I use it here only to impress
upon you the importance of interest in memory. Had I told
you before you read that "bus" story, that I would ask for
the driver's name—you would have been interested in the
name. You'd have wanted to notice and remember it.
Even so, it is sort of a tricky question, and you may not
have been observant enough to be able to answer it. This,
incidentally, is a principle that many professional magicians
have been using for years. It is called "misdirection." It simply means that the important move in a trick, the move
that actually is the "modus operandi," is kept in the background.
Or, it is covered with another move, one that has
nothing to do with the trick, but which you are led to believe
is the important move. This is the move that you will
observe and remember. The one that actually worked the
trick is not even noticed, and that is why you are completely
fooled. Most people, when describing a magician's trick,
will make the effect so impossible that if the magician himself
were listening, he wouldn't believe it. Only because
they leave out the all important move in their description.
Aside from "box" tricks, or tricks that mechanically work
themselves, magicians would have a tough time fooling
their audiences if it weren't for the art of "misdirection."
Well, I "misdirected" you by making you think I was
going to ask about one thing, and then I asked about something
you didn't even notice. I guess I've kept you in suspense
long enough. You probably are anxious to know the
answer to my second question. Well, actually the first word
of the paragraph tells you who the driver is. The first word
of the paragraph is, "you." The correct answer to the question,
"What is the bus driver's name?", is your own name!
You were driving the bus. Try this one on your friends and
see how few of them can answer it correctly.
As I've said, this is more of an observation test than a
memory test. But memory and observation do go hand in
hand. You cannot possibly remember anything you do not
observe; and it is extremely difficult to observe or remember
anything that you do not want to remember, or that you
are not interested in remembering.
This, of course, leads to an obvious memory rule. If you
want to improve your memory immediately, force yourself
to want to remember. Force yourself to be interested
enough to observe anything you want to remember or retain. I say, "force yourself," because at first a little effort
may be necessary; however in an amazingly short time,
you'll find that there is no effort at all required to make
yourself want to remember anything. The fact that you
are reading this book, is your first forward step. You
wouldn't be reading it if you didn't want to remember,
or if you weren't interested in improving your memory.
"Without motivation there can hardly be remembrance."
Aside from intending to remember, confidence that you
will remember is also helpful. If you tackle any memory
problem with the thought, "I will remember"; more often
than not, you will. Think of your memory as a sieve. Each
time that you feel or say, "I have an awful memory," or,
"I'll never be able to remember this," you put another hole
in the sieve. If, on the other hand, you say, "I have a wonderful
memory," or, "I'll remember this easily," you're
plugging up one of those holes.

Habit Is Memory

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 130px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TSnZSzjlZeI/AAAAAAAAAiw/3Qxw1cOEDOM/s320/a918_110.jpg" border="0" alt="memory"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5560214132065920482" />

I feel assured that there is no such thing as ultimate forgetting;
traces once impressed upon the memory are indestructible.
—Thomas De Quincey

An accurate and retentive memory is the basis of all business success. In the last analysis, all our knowledge is based on our memories. Plato said it this way, "All knowledge is but remembrance"; while Cicero said of memory, it is "the treasury and guardian of all things." One strong example should suffice for the time being—you could not be reading this blog right now, if you didn't remember the sounds of
the twenty-six letters of our alphabet!
This may seem a bit far fetched to you, but it is true, nevertheless. Actually, if you were to lose your memory completely, you would have to start learning everything
from scratch, just like a new born baby. You wouldn't remember
how to dress, or shave, or apply your makeup, or how to drive your car, or whether to use a knife or fork, etc. You see, all the things we attribute to habit, should be
attributed to memory.Habit is memory.Mnemonics, which is a large part of a trained memory,is not a new or strange thing. As a matter of fact, the word,
"mnemonic" is derived from the name of the Greek God-dess, Mnemosyne; and, memory systems were used as far back as early Greek civilization. The strange thing is that
trained memory systems are not known and used by many more people. Most of those who have learned the secret of mnemonics in memory, have been amazed, not only at
their own tremendous ability to remember, but also at the kudos they received from their families and friends. Some of them decided it was too good a thing to teach to
anyone else. Why not be the only man at the office who could remember every style number and price; why not be the only one who could get up at a party, and demonstrate something that everyone marveled at?I,on the other hand, feel that trained memories should be brought to the foreground, and to this end—this book
is dedicated. Although some of you may know me as an entertainer, it is not my purpose, of course, to teach you a memory act. I have no desire to put you on the stage. I do want to teach you the wonderful practical uses of a trained
memory. There are many memory stunts taught in this
blog; these are fine for showing your friends how bright you are. More important, they are excellent memory exercises, and the ideas used in all the stunts can be applied practically. The question that people ask me most often, is, "Isn't it
confusing to remember too much?" My answer to that is,"No!" There is no limit to the capacity of the memory.Lucius Scipio was able to remember the names of all the
people of Rome; Cyrus was able to call every soldier in his army by name; while Seneca could memorize and repeat two thousand words, after hearing them once.
I believe that the more you remember, the more you can remember. The memory, in many ways, is like a muscle. A muscle must be exercised and developed in order to give
proper service and use; so must the memory. The difference is that a muscle can be over trained or become musclebound while the memory cannot. You can be taught to have a trained memory just as you can be taught anything else. As a matter of fact, it is much easier to attain a trained memory than, say, to learn to play a musical instrument. If you can read and write English, and have a normal amount
of common sense, and if you read and study this book, you will have acquired a trained memory! Along with the trained memory you will probably acquire a greater power of concentration, a purer sense of observation, and perhaps,
a stronger imagination.Remember please, that there is no such thing as a bad
memory! This may come as a shock to those of you who have used your supposedly "bad" memories as an excuse for years. But, I repeat, there is no such thing as a bad memory. There are only trained or untrained memories. Almost all untrained memories are one-sided. That is to say that people who can remember names and faces, cannot remember telephone numbers, and those who remember phone numbers.can't, for the life of them, remember the names of the people they wish to call. There are those who have a pretty good retentive memory, but a painfully slow one; just as there are some who
can remember things quickly, but cannot retain them for any length of time. If you apply the systems and methods taught in this book, I can assure you a quick and retentive memory for just about anything.
As I mentioned in the previous chapter, anything you
wish to remember must in some way or other,be associatedin your mind to something you already know or remember.Of course, most of you will say that you have
remembered, or do remember, many things, and that you
do not associate them with anything else. Very true! If you were associating knowingly, then you would already have the beginnings of a trained memory.
You see, most of the things you have ever remembered, have been associated subconsciously with something else that you already knew or remembered. The important word here, is, "subconsciously." You yourselves do not realize
what is going on in your subconscious; most of us would be frightened if we did. What you subconsciously associated strongly, will be remembered, what was not associated strongly, will be forgotten. Since this tiny mental calisthenic
takes place without your knowledge, you cannot help it any. Here then is the crux of the matter—I am going to teach you to associate anything you want to, consciously! When you have learned to do that, you will have acquired a
trained memory!Keep in mind that the system that I teach in this blog
is an aid to your normal or true memory. It is your true memory that does the work for you, whether you realize it or not. There is a very thin line between a trained memory and the true memory, and as you continue to use the system taught here, that line will begin to fade. That is the wonderful part about the whole thing; after
using my system consciously for a while—it becomes automatic
and you almost start doing it subconsciously.

How Keen Is Your Observation-3

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 289px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TSh12qsv2PI/AAAAAAAAAio/ZALkkdn_MqE/s320/a044_110.jpg" border="0" alt="Observation"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559823322024237298" />

read How Keen Is Your Observation-2

It is probably many years since you learned the jinglet
"Thirty days hath September, April, June and November,
all the rest have thirty-one, etc.," but how many times have
you relied on it when it was necessary to know the number
of days in a particular month?
If you were ever taught to remember the nonsense word,
"vibgyor," or the nonsense name, "Roy B. Giv," then you
still remember the colors of the spectrum: Red, Orange,
Yellow, Blue, Green, Indigo and Violet. This again is the
association and initial system.
I am sure that many times you have seen or heard something
which made you snap your fingers, and say, "Oh, that
reminds me. . . ." You were made to remember something
by the thing you saw or heard, which usually had no obvious
connection to the thing you remembered. However,
in your mind, the two things were associated in some way.
This was a subconscious association. Right now, I am pointing
out a few examples of conscious associations at work;
and they certainly do work. People who have forgotten
many things that they learned in their early grades, still
remember the spaces and lines of the treble clef. If yon
have read this chapter so far, concentrating as you read,
you should know them by now, even if you've never studied
music.
One of the best examples I know, is the one which was
a great help to me in my early grade spelling classes. We
were being taught that the word, "believe" was spelled with
the e following the i. In order to help us to commit this to
memory, we were told to remember a short sentence,
"Never believe a lie."
This is a perfect instance of a conscious association. I
know for a fact that many adults still have trouble spelling,
"believe." They are never quite sure if the i is first, or if it
is the e. The spelling of the word, "believe" was the new
thing to remember. The word, "lie" is a word we all already
knew how to spell. None of the students that heard that
little sentence, ever again misspelled the word, "believe."
Do you have trouble spelling the word, "piece"? If you do,
just remember the phrase, "piece of pie." This phrase will
always tell you how to spell, "piece."
Can you draw anything that resembles the map of England,
from memory? How about China, Japan or Czechoslovakia?
You probably can't draw any of these. If I had
mentioned Italy, ninety percent of you would have immediately
seen a picture of a boot in your mind's eye. Is that
right? If you did, and if you draw a boot, you will have the
approximate outline of the map of Italy.
Why did this picture appear in your mind's eye? Only
because, at one time or another, perhaps many years ago,
you either heard or noticed that the map of Italy resembled
a boot. The shape of Italy, of course, was the new thing to
remember; the boot was the something we already knew
and remembered.
You can see that simple conscious associations helped
you memorize abstract information like the above examples
very easily. The initial system that I mentioned earlier, can
be used to help you memorize many things. For example,
if you wanted to remember the names of the Dionne quintuplets,
you could try to remember the word, "macey." This
would help you to recall that the girls' names are, Marie,
Annette, Cecile, Emilie and Yvonne.
There's only one thing wrong with this idea in its present
stage. There is nothing to make you remember that the
word, "macey" is connected with the Dionne quintuplets,
or vice versa.

How Keen Is Your Observation-2

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 262px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TScpytv1kPI/AAAAAAAAAig/3bG5UO99_H4/s320/a921_110.jpg" border="0" alt="Observation"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559458216262602994" />

read How Keen Is Your Observation-1

Don't feel too badly if you couldn't answer any of these
questions; as I said before, most people can't. You may
recall a motion picture a few years ago which starred Ronald
Colman, Celeste Holm and Art Linkletter. The picture
was "Champagne for Caesar," and it was about a man who
couldn't be stumped with any question on a quiz show.
The finale of the film was the last question of the quiz,
which was worth some millions of dollars. To earn these
millions, Ronald Colman was asked to give his own social
security number. Of course, he didn't know it! This was
amusing and interesting, to me, anyway, since it struck
home. It proves, doesn't it, that people see but do not observe?
Incidentally, do you know your social security number?
Although the systems and methods contained in this
book make you observe automatically, you will find some
interesting observation exercises in a later chapter. The system
will also make you use your imagination with more
facility than ever before.
I've taken the time and space to talk about observation
because it is one of the things important to training your
memory. The other, and more important thing, is association.
We cannot possibly remember anything that we do not observe. After something is observed, either by sight or
hearing, it must, in order to be remembered, be associated
in our minds with, or to, something we already know or remember.
Since you will observe automatically when using my system,
it is association with which we will mostly concern
ourselves.
Association, as pertaining to memory, simply means the
connecting or tying up of two (or more) things to each
other. Anything you manage to remember, or have managed
to remember, is only due to the fact that you have
subconsciously associated it to something else.
"Every Good Boy Does Fine." —Does that sentence
mean anything to you? If it docs, then you must have
studied music as a youngster. Almost every child that
studies music is taught to remember the lines of the music
staff or treble clef, by remembering, "Every Good Boy Docs
Fine."
I've already stressed the importance of association, and
I want to prove to you that you have used definite conscious
associations many times before, without even realizing
it. The letters, E, G, B, D and F don't mean a thing.
They are just letters, and difficult to remember. The sentence,
"Every Good Boy Does Fine" does have meaning,
and is something you know and understand. The new
thing, the thing you had to commit to memory was associated
with something you already knew.
The spaces of the music staff were committed to memory
with the same system; the initial system. If you remembered
the word, "face," you remembered that the
spaces on the staff are, F, A, C, and E. Again you associated
something new and meaningless to something you already
knew and to something that had meaning to you.

read more How Keen Is Your Observation-3

How Keen Is Your Observation-1

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 246px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TSXSz8PvUWI/AAAAAAAAAiY/HfuNJCPYn2o/s320/a955_110.jpg" border="0" alt="Observation"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559081104846049634" />

Which light is on top of the traffic light? Is it the Red or the
Green? Your first thought, probably is that this is an easy question
to answer. However, put yourself in this position—you are
on one of the current quiz shows that pays a lot of money for
correct answers. You must answer this question correctly to win
the top prize. Now then, which light is on top, the Red or the Green?
if you have been able to picture yourself in the above position,
you are probably hesitating now, because you're not
really sure which light is on top, are you? If you are sure,
then you're one of the minority who has observed what
most people only see. There is a world of difference between
seeing and observing; proven, of course, by the fact
that most of the people to whom I put the above question,
either give the wrong answer or are not sure. This, even
though they see the traffic lights countless times every day!
By the way, Red is always on top of the traffic light,
Green is always on the bottom. If there is a third color, it
is usually Yellow, for caution, and that one is always in the
center. If you were sure that Red was the correct answer, let
me see if I can't puncture your pride a bit with another observation test.
Don't look at your wrist watch! Don't look at your wrist
watch, and answer this question:—Is the number six on
your watch dial, the Arabic #6, or is it the Roman Numeral
VI? Think this over for a moment, before you look at your
watch. Decide on your answer as if it were really important
that you answer correctly. You're on that quiz show again,
and there's a lot of money at stake.
All right, have you decided on your answer? Now, look
at your watch and see if you were right. Were you? Or
were you wrong in either case, because your watch doesn't
have a six at all!? The small dial that ticks off the seconds
usually occupies that space on most modern watches.
Did you answer this question correctly? Whether you
did or did not, you had to look at your watch to check. Can
you tell now, the exact time on your watch? Probably not,
and you just looked at it a second ago! Again, you saw, but
you didn't observe.
Try this on your friends. Although people see their
watches innumerable times every day, few of them can tell
you about the numeral six.
Here's another one to try on your friends; but you'd better
see if you can answer it first. If you are a cigarette
smoker, you have seen a blue tax stamp on your pack of
cigarettes each time you take it out to remove a cigarette.
On this tax stamp is the picture of a man, and his name is
printed under the picture.
For the top prize on our imaginary quiz show, name this
man! I guess you'll have to leave the quiz show with only
the consolation prize. I say this so definitely because only
about two or three of the many people I've tested, have
answered this one correctly. The man pictured on the revenue
stamp is De Witt Clinton! Check it.
I don't want to be sneaky, but if you've just looked at the
stamp and at the picture of De Witt Clinton, you must have seen what Clinton was doing with his left hand. You
also saw, or probably saw, four letters, two on the upper
left and two on the upper right of the stamp. I say that you
saw these things, I don't think you observed them. If you
did, you should be able to tell yourself right now, what
De Witt Clinton is doing with his left hand, and also name
the four letters.
Had to look again, didn't you? Now you've observed that
his left hand is at Clinton's temple, as if he were thinking,
and the letters are, U.S.I.R. for United States Internal Revenue.

read more on How Keen Is Your Observation-2

On Staying Motivated.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 192px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TMaVXyp_yDI/AAAAAAAAAiM/tHNXwH6T7KE/s320/lake.jpg" border="0" alt=" Staying Motivated"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5532273428238682162" />
Life has a way of interfering us while we are going after our dreams. It distracts us from pursuing things that really matter and even convinces us that nothing really matters. It can attract us to adopt a defeatist attitude – lacking on enthusiasm and interest – ultimately sapping out our sense of purpose.

But there are ways to stay motivated, no matter how you feel about everything around you. These are not easy, far from that, but are nevertheless very helpful in keeping yourself fired with motivation.

Develop the attitude of interest. Find the thing you are most passionate about. The happiest people, they say, are those people who do the things they love the most. It is not coincidental that they are the most motivated people as well. After all, passion and motivation go hand in hand. They are closely intertwined to create a person who is full of zest about everything.

Nearly every successful people are very passionate about what they do. Why do you think Lance Armstrong, despite of having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, went on to win 7 consecutive Tour de France trophies? It is not only because he refused to give in to life's cruel joke, but because he is also very passionate about cycling. We are not saying that it has to take some forceful circumstances in our lives before we find the thing we are most passionate about. In most cases, this very thing is right at the tip of your nose. You just don’t want to see it, to accept it.

Find the thing that can spark and sustain your enthusiasm. Then channel all your energies towards that thing. This sparks motivation, productivity and satisfaction.

But what do you do when you are stuck with things that you are not truly passionate about? In times like this, when passion is lacking and your zeal is at its all time low, interest will suffice. Be interested in everything you do, no matter how boring, tedious or nonsensical it may seem. Find meaning in everything. Take the time to be engrossed, to be interested. Otherwise, your life will seem and feel like a living hell.

Having said that, always find reasons to be happy about the things you do,the goals you are pursuing, the dreams you are trying to realize, and the life you are trying to live. Never lose sight of happiness and never let it slip away.

Maintain an elevated level of energy. The mere act of smiling at yourself can recharge your energy. Having no energy almost always ensure that you won't feel as motivated as you need. Always take the time to recharge yourself – sleep, eat, breathe, relax, and rest. Do whatever it takes to always keep your energy high, if not sustained.

Act like it. Translate positive emotions into actions. If you are not feeling positive about anything, try to act like it. Sometimes, despite of lacking motivation, you can still feel motivated when you deliberately act with enthusiasm.

Meditation Technique.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 192px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TMRQm1kP6XI/AAAAAAAAAiE/XmLyipBijp0/s320/guard.jpg" border="0" alt="Meditation Technique"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531634870462179698" />
Meditation refers to a state where your body and mind are consciously relaxed and focused. Practitioners of this art report increased awareness, focus, and concentration, as well as a more positive outlook in life and another self improvement tips

Meditation is most commonly associated with monks, mystics and other spiritual disciplines. However, you don’t have to be a monk or mystic to enjoy its benefits. And you don’t even have to be in a special place to practice it. You could even try it in your own living room!

Although there are many different approaches to meditation, the fundamental principles remain the same. The most important among these principles is that of removing obstructive, negative, and wandering thoughts and fantasies, and calming the mind with a deep sense of focus. This clears the mind of debris and prepares it for a higher quality of activity.

The negative thoughts you have – those of noisy neighbors, bossy office mates, that parking ticket you got, and unwanted spam– are said to contribute to the ‘polluting’ of the mind, and shutting them out is allows for the ‘cleansing’ of the mind so that it may focus on deeper, more meaningful thoughts.

Some practitioners even shut out all sensory input – no sights, no sounds, and nothing to touch – and try to detach themselves from the commotion around them. You may now focus on a deep, profound thought if this is your goal. It may seem deafening at first, since we are all too accustomed to constantly hearing and seeing things, but as you continue this exercise you will find yourself becoming more aware of everything around you.

If you find the meditating positions you see on television threatening – those with impossibly arched backs, and painful-looking contortions – you need not worry. The principle here is to be in a comfortable position conducive to concentration. This may be while sitting cross-legged, standing, lying down, and even walking.

If the position allows you to relax and focus, then that would be a good starting point. While sitting or standing, the back should be straight, but not tense or tight. In other positions, the only no-no is slouching and falling asleep.

Loose, comfortable clothes help a lot in the process since tight fitting clothes have a tendency to choke you up and make you feel tense.

The place you perform meditation should have a soothing atmosphere. It may be in your living room, or bedroom, or any place that you feel comfortable in. You might want an exercise mat if you plan to take on the more challenging positions (if you feel more focused doing so, and if the contortionist in you is screaming for release). You may want to have the place arranged so that it is soothing to your senses.

Silence helps most people relax and meditate, so you may want a quiet, isolated area far from the ringing of the phone or the humming of the washing machine. Pleasing scents also help in that regard, so stocking up on aromatic candles isn’t such a bad idea either.

The monks you see on television making those monotonous sounds are actually performing their mantra. This, in simple terms, is a short creed, a simple sound which, for these practitioners, holds a mystic value.

You do not need to perform such; however, it would pay to note that focusing on repeated actions such as breathing, and humming help the practitioner enter a higher state of consciousness.

The principle here is focus. You could also try focusing on a certain object or thought, or even, while keeping your eyes open, focus on a single sight.

One sample routine would be to – while in a meditative state – silently name every part of you body and focusing your consciousness on that part. While doing this you should be aware of any tension on any part of your body. Mentally visualize releasing this tension. It works wonders.

In all, meditation is a relatively risk-free practice and its benefits are well worth the effort (or non-effort – remember we’re relaxing).

Studies have shown that meditation does bring about beneficial physiologic effects to the body. And there has been a growing consensus in the medical community to further study the effects of such. So in the near future, who knows, that mystical, esoteric thing we call meditation might become a science itself!

From Building A Dream To Celebrating Your Accomplishments.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TMHIrYi823I/AAAAAAAAAh8/BhGBDtG-7to/s320/star.jpg" border="0" alt="Building A Dream"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5530922465036655474" />
Motivation is an intriguing stuff. Sometimes, you need big things – life events that have the power to turn you around – and sometimes, you only need those tiny motivators – a cute saying on a poster – to make you feel like you have to power to call your own shots.

Build a dream and fuel it.

Big or small, it really doesn’t matter. So long as you have a dream, a goal, an objective, something you can hold on to, something to work for…that's good enough to get you started. Once you have identified that something you want to achieve, hook yourself into it.Believe in it.Fuel it and keep the fire inside you burning for it. Give all you can for that dream to be achieved. Oftentimes, it is easy to bargain that dream for something less, like things that can immediately provide us with passing gratification. But don’t fall easily into that trap.If possible, don’t buy it at all.

Just get on with it.

Don’t feel like getting out of bed? Don’t think this is the best time to start a new project? Don’t feel ready yet? Shut these negative ideas out. Feel like you truly are ready for something. Realize that every day is just as good to start new things as any other day. Always make yourself feel ready about everything, even when it is tempting to have a few minutes more of nap.

The most critical part is always the beginning. It is where hesitation, self-doubt and all those nasty ideas that hold you back comes in. But, refuse to listen to these. Instead, gain the momentum and get on with it. Start with simple things. Take the baby steps. It is easier to be continuously motivated when you know that you are achieving something every time you try. Afterward, it is much easier to push yourself to finish the task or goal you are trying to pursue. Only then you can start to shoot for far larger stars.

Keep on believing.

Life knows how to deal with us. It can sense whether we are hot or cold towards our dreams. When we are on fire, it throws at us experiences that will shake our beliefs in ourselves, in the dreams we are trying to pursue. When we are damp, it tries to mellow down to lessen the doubts we are feeling. It is when you are already near the achievement of your goal that you should be careful. Because it is during times like this that you will have to prove to life that you truly are serious about pursuing your dreams. In this critical moment, don’t back down, no matter how strong the urge to forget about everything you have worked for. Keep a positive outlook.

Reward yourself.

Motivation can be rewarded in many ways, on many occasions. Throughout your journey, you will have little successes. And at the end, you have that one huge success. Whenever you overcome each of these successes, reward yourself. It is easy to keep on moving when you know that you are getting one step closer to realizing your dream.

Practical Tips To Get Yourself Up and Going,

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 311px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TL2vZA6yKyI/AAAAAAAAAh0/o2bnVMuRMl8/s400/water.jpg" border="0" alt="Practical Tips "id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529768761758984994" />
People have different issues with motivation. Some people find it hard to begin, while others find it excruciatingly hard to finish. Both ends of the tasks are often the hardest to accomplish. It could be because the task is unpleasant, uninteresting, or lacks the thing that makes you feel motivated to get off your butt and start working. When having troubles with getting or staying motivated, try these self improvement tips.

Kick the habit of procrastination - Procrastination is very enticing, that is why many people are led to its path. But, never for a second believe that it is satisfying. Procrastination eats up a lot of your time while leaving nothing for you to get ahead with your task. Procrastination also leaves that lingering, powerful guilt feeling that saps the energy out of your body.

The unwashed laundry. The unfinished business plan. The project that lays idle on your table. All these are reminders that you haven’t done anything with your habit of procrastination. And all these produce that same sense of half-pleasure, half-guilt feeling produced by not doing the task on time.

Push yourself – Over pampering yourself is a bad habit, and a fatal one too. You may not lose your life while procrastinating, but you can lose your job, opportunities and the chances of success whenever you hesitate and delay your tasks. No one wants to miss out on these things, so just do the opposite of pampering, try to push yourself.

If you think you can do a task in one hour, try to finish it in 30 minutes. Add more outputs every day. Make yourself extra productive. There is a certain sense of pride and accomplishment in being able to defeat your worst enemy – yourself.

Be careful not to push yourself too hard though. Always leave time for rest and relaxation as these can charge your mind and body to keep your energy and interest in the things you do at the highest.

Stop talking yourself out of it - There are always two parts of your head that are battling for your attention. One part convinces you to start working on your task; the other gives you all the convincing arguments to delay your work. In most cases, the second part wins. But for people who have no serious issue with motivation, the good, inspiring side always wins out the debate. Always try to listen to that part that talks you into doing your tasks, not to the one that pulls you back to that cozy bed where you can steal a few minutes' worth more of rest.

Envision the completion of the task - Think like you have already finished your task. Few people appreciate the benefits of creating mental images of finished tasks. The reality though is, this can help a great deal in motivating you to get on with it. Think of the euphoria of not having anything to make you feel guilty. Or the sense of pride in being able to accomplish something. The more you think of the benefits of finishing your tasks, the more convinced you will become to get ahead with it.

Winning The Battle In Your Head.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 258px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TLh9EtyAoCI/AAAAAAAAAhs/PpCAAi8Tw6c/s400/eagle.jpg" border="0" alt="win the battle"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528306062559584290" />
Motivation is a funny, complex thing. The thing that motivates one person is always different from that of another even though they are working for the same thing. And while people can motivate other people, they can only do so to a certain degree. At the end of the day, you still have to work out a way to get yourself moving. But when everything looks bleak and all you want to do is to surrender, from where do you muster the will to go on?Keep reading on this self improvement tips

Begin with winning the battle in your head.

The battle always starts in the head. One part of your brain tells you to move, work, and strive for what you are working for. The other part tells you that it is foolish. It is always easier to listen to the latter, because it is more convenient, less taxing, and easier to do. The former forces you to act and work. All things equal, people always choose the less inconvenient, easy way out. But this isn’t always the better choice. In fact, it is never a good choice.

What separates very effective people from those who are not is their ability to always make the right choices most of the time, even if these choices are the hardest to make. They know how the game works and they try to beat it every single time. Exhausting, yes, but it is also gratifying. There is always a sense of satisfaction in defeating your worst enemy – yourself.

But how do you win the battle that goes on inside your head?

Understand your thoughts and how they affect your emotions and your will power. Negative thoughts can easily kill your sense of purpose. It comes in many forms – lack of self-confidence, general negativity, lack of belief in others, procrastination and the list goes on. Each of these has the power to convince you to throw in the towel and accept that you can't carry on. Identifying each of your negative thoughts is the first step to winning yourself back from a defeatist attitude.

It is not simple feat, though. It takes time before one can shut out the voice in the head that says 'give up, give in'. And sometimes, even when you have already succeeded in neutralizing your negative thoughts, it is still easy to give up at the first sign of a speed bump. After all, it gives you time to rest from the unending struggle to achieve whatever it is you are pursuing, even for just a moment. But don’t buy that. That short period of rest can turn to days, weeks, months, years, ultimately paralyzing you from taking action and living a full life. That's the characteristic of discouragement. It offers you immediate gratification without securing anything in return.

Try to gain positive momentum every time, instead of succumbing back into a demoralized attitude. Every time, even if that means you have to start the battle in your head all over again.

Simple Rules of Motivation.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TLVrrTiXyQI/AAAAAAAAAhM/c2X7aTxDSWs/s1600/love.jpg" border="0" alt=" Rules of Motivation"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527442509390137602" />
You can drag yourself up the same way you can drag yourself down. It is a choice you have to make every, single day. Whenever you are faced with this conflict of choices, bring with you these tiny nuggets of wisdom on motivation.

Never mind that you're not this or that.
It all begins with little excuses like 'I don’t feel good', 'I am not that smart', 'I don't have enough faith in myself'. Then you start believing in these things like they are written in stone, then these negative beliefs become a part of your system, a part of who you are.

Don’t give a second's worth of recognition on these negative self-talks. Whenever you hear that part of your brain tell you things that can pull you down, shut it out and listen to that less powerful, but oftentimes ignored voice that says 'you can!'.

Try to have a little faith - in yourself, in what you can do, and the things you believe in. It doesn't matter if you fail, everyone goes through that hurtful process. What matters is that every time you do, you bounce back, rebuild yourself, and give the world a better you.

Be very careful when choosing your side.
You can either talk yourself into doing the task or not, which means you can either be a part of success that one part of your head says you can be, or take part in the downfall the other side of your head tries to go to. Always take that side of your brain that believes in you, that cares about your well-being, and pushes you to be the person you are trying to be.

Try to win the debate with yourself every time. Remember that sometimes, the act of doing something is not really difficult. It's the few minutes of mental chatter leading up to doing the act.

Hold on to that something that matters to you.
There is nothing more meaningful in life than that something that we dearly hold on to. Some people call it their passion, others call it their cause. What do you call yours?

Cause, passion, or whatever it is that propels your inner drive to accomplish something is a very powerful source of motivation. It never runs dry. It flows so long as you hold on to that thing you care about. Sometimes, it is what makes people do the impossible in the face of difficulties. And it is that thing that gives them the courage to face and get through the biggest difficulties life throws at them.

Dream big.
Big dreams inspire. It makes people work harder, with even more passion. What would happen to people if they have nothing to shoot for? Nothing. If there are no Olympic medals and several hundred Olympians to compete against, the champions will never exist. If Mount Everest is not the highest mountain, there will be no mountaineers and hikers who struggle everyday to reach the peak.

If you don’t dream big, you would stay forever in that nook of the world where everything is mediocre, where sense of achievement is an abstract concept, and where success is all but inexistent.

Compete with yourself.
Competing with others is good, but oftentimes it is sure-fire way to demotivate yourself because you will start to compare yourself with others each and every time. Run your own, personal race. How many times have you heard the saying, 'you are your worst enemy'?

A lot more self improvement tips after this.

"Who's the Boss?" 10 ways to start taking control.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TLSLsTRvriI/AAAAAAAAAhE/Dm3aA2rfD6g/s400/fly.jpg" border="0" alt="10 ways to start taking control"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527196235895647778" />
At first glance, it would seem that positive thinking and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) have nothing to do with one another. But many of us with ADD develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. This negative outlook then makes it even harder for us to manage those challenges and move forward.

Practicing positive thinking allows people with ADD to focus on our strengths and accomplishments, which increases happiness and motivation. This, in turn, allows us to spend more time making progress, and less time feeling down and stuck. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns.A useful self improvement tips:

1. Take Good Care of Yourself.

It's much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.

2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For.

Stresses and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.

3. Look for the Proof Instead of Making Assumptions.

A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don't waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about.

4. Refrain from Using Absolutes.

Have you ever told a partner "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a friend "You NEVER call me!"? Thinking and speaking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering.

5. Detach From Negative Thoughts.

Your thoughts can't hold any power over you if you don't judge them. If you notice yourself having a negative thought, detach from it, witness it, and don't follow it.

6. Squash the "ANTs".

In his book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen talks about "ANTs" - Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them!

7. Practice Lovin', Touchin' & Squeezin' (Your Friends and Family).

You don't have to be an expert to know the benefits of a good hug. Positive physical contact with friends, loved ones, and even pets, is an instant pick-me-up. One research study on this subject had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm as she handed them their checks. She received higher tips from these customers than from the ones she didn't touch!

8. Increase Your Social Activity.

By increasing social activity, you decrease loneliness. Surround yourself with healthy, happy people, and their positive energy will affect you in a positive way!

9. Volunteer for an Organization, or Help another Person.

Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.

10. Use Pattern Interrupts to Combat Rumination.

If you find yourself ruminating, a great way to stop it is to interrupt the pattern and force yourself to do something completely different. Rumination is like hyper-focus on something negative. It's never productive, because it's not rational or solution-oriented, it's just excessive worry. Try changing your physical environment - go for a walk or sit outside. You could also call a friend, pick up a book, or turn on some music.

When it comes to the corporate world, protocol is pretty much the religion. To know the things needed to do are the basics of productivity, but interaction and having a steady mind makes up the entire thing to true productivity. There are those who seem to work well even under pressure, but they're uncommon ones and we are human and imperfect. To get these little things like stress under our skins won't solve our problems. Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to admit that we're turning to be workaholics than tell ourselves that we're not doing our best.

Impossible Is Nothing

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 250px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TLGAA0iuUQI/AAAAAAAAAgk/g2E1TcpWIaI/s400/watch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526338969352950018" />
Everyone, at some point of his or her life, has dreamed of being somebody special, somebody big. Who hasn't fantasized about being the one who hits the game-winning homer? Who hasn't dreamed of being the homecoming queen? And how many times have we dreamed of being rich, or successful, or happy with our relationships?

Often, we dream big dreams and have great aspirations. Unfortunately, our dreams remain just that – dreams. And our aspirations easily collect dust in our attic.

This is a sad turn of events in our life. Instead of experiencing exciting adventures in self actualization, we get caught up in the humdrum of living from day-to-day just barely existing.

But you know what? Life could be so much better, if only we learned to aim higher.

The most common problem to setting goals is the word impossible. Most people get hung up thinking I can't do this. It's too hard. It's too impossible. No one can do this.

However, if everyone thought that, there would be no inventions, no innovations, and no breakthroughs in human accomplishment.

Remember that scientists were baffled when they took a look at the humble bumblebee. Theoretically, they said, it was impossible for the bumblebee to fly. Unfortunately for the bumble, bee no one has told it so. So fly it does.

On the other hand, some people suffer from dreaming totally outrageous dreams and not acting on them. The result? Broken dreams, and tattered aspirations.

If you limit yourself with self-doubt, and self-limiting assumptions, you will never be able to break past what you deem impossible. If you reach too far out into the sky without working towards your goal, you will find yourself clinging on to the impossible dream.

Try this exercise. Take a piece of paper and write down some goals in your life. Under one header, list down things ‘you know you can do’. Under another header, write the things ‘you might be able to do.’ And under one more, list the things that that are ‘impossible for you to do.’

Now look at all the headers strive every day to accomplish the goals that are under things ‘you know you can do’. Check them when you are able to accomplish them. As you slowly are able to check all of your goals under that heading, try accomplishing the goals under the other header-the one that reads ‘you might be able to do.’

As of the items you wrote under things I could do are accomplished, you can move the goals that are under things that are ‘impossible for you to do’ to the list of things ‘you might be able to do.’

As you iterate through this process, you will find out that the goals you thought were impossible become easier to accomplish. And the impossible begin to seem possible after all.

You see, the technique here is not to limit your imagination. It is to aim high, and start working towards that goal little by little. However, it also is unwise to set a goal that is truly unrealistic.

Those who just dream towards a goal without working hard end up disappointed and disillusioned.

On the other hand, if you told someone a hundred years ago that it was possible for man to be on the moon, they would laugh at you. If you had told them that you could send mail from here to the other side of the world in a few seconds, they would say you were out of your mind. But, through sheer desire and perseverance, these impossible dreams are now realities.

Thomas Edison once said that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Nothing could be truer. For one to accomplish his or her dreams, there has to be had work and discipline. But take note that that 1% has to be a think-big dream, and not some easily accomplished one.

Ask any gym rat and he or she will tell you that there can be no gains unless you are put out of your comfort zone. Remember the saying, “No pain, no gain”? That is as true as it can be.

So dream on, friend!Don’t get caught up with your perceived limitations. Think big and work hard to attain those dreams. As you step up the ladder of progress, you will just about find out that the impossible has just become a little bit more possible.

Getting Yourself Back on Track

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TKy2IzGjMBI/AAAAAAAAAgc/zHAoFxkCW2A/s400/nice.jpg" border="0" alt=" Back on Track"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524991105149644818" />
Sometimes, all we need is something that can keep us motivated and get us back on track. We hope the following suggestions will do just that for you.A part of self improvement tips.

Appreciate failure - Many people find failure a bit too daunting. For them, failing on something – whether it’s a simple goal or a grand task – is enough to keep them from moving another finger. For successful people, failure is a teacher. It was difficult and demoralizing while they were at it. But in retrospect, there is always something that can be gained from failing.

Don’t get used to failing, though. Bounce back every time you fail and refrain from doing the things that had caused you to fail before. Build a string of success out of the many failures you've had.

Always finish what you have started - Whether it’s a goal, a project, a book, a movie, a song, or a sentence…always finish what you have started. Never quit on anything, no matter how insignificant the thing is. Quitting is a bad habit that supports procrastination and by extension, the extinguishment of motivation.

Give yourself some incentives - Accomplishments should always be rewarded. Reward could be anything from a 30-minute break from work or a one-week vacation in a tropical island. No matter how small or big your accomplishments are, always try to give yourself some reward. Having something to work for or to look forward to always work to spark the drive that is often dormant inside you.

Write down your ideas - No matter how stupid or nonsensical your ideas may seem, they are still ideas and they can inspire you to think further. When lacking in motivation, the simple act of scribbling can trigger a part in your brain to be creative, driven, and imaginative.

Be attuned with your emotions - Don’t be overwhelmed by negative emotions such as the feeling of hopelessness, defeat or struggle. Try to channel your emotions to something more positive such as getting ahead with your work or finishing the task at hand.

Define your motivation - What motivates you? A better life? An accomplished task? A sense of achievement? People have different definitions for motivation. Define yours. Then, begin working for it.

Kick that avoidance attitude - A small percentage of people are allergic to doing something productive. They prefer to lie idle on the couch while killing their time over a movie marathon. That kind of existence is miserable. It lacks direction and definitely lacks that something that can make life a bit more exciting. Not that they have nothing better to do, but because they lack the drive not to avoid the things they need and must do. If you feel that you are leaning towards the avoidance attitude, immediately move yourself out of that rut.

Connect with people - Living in isolation? It is becoming more common nowadays to lose connection with the rest of the world because work is shifting from office setting to home setting. Even while social networking sites are doing their best to make you feel connected, nothing still beats the good old fashioned face-to-face interaction. So go out, talk to your pals, connect with people and be inspired.

10 ways to empower your communication.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TKdu1wv0CfI/AAAAAAAAAgA/5XQSrG-uiyQ/s400/bird.jpg" border="0" alt="communication"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523505337890769394" />
The Blarney Stone is a historical stone, or actually part of the Blarney Castle in Ireland where it was believed that kissing the stone can grant you the gift of gab. Yeah, it seems strange in this day and age, but who are we to question tradition? It's not like I'm saying that Santa Claus doesn't exist (OOPS!).

There is so much to know about conversation that anyone, even I, could ever realize. You can go though watching talk shows; radio programs; clubs dedicated to public speaking; ordinary conversations; certain rules still apply when it comes to interaction through words. It may sound tedious, I know, but even though it's your mouth that's doing the work, your brain works twice as hard to churn out a lot of things you know. So what better way to start learning to be an effective communication is to know the very person closest to you: yourself.Make it a self improvement tips.

1. What you know.

Education is all about learning the basics, but to be an effective speaker is to practice what you've learned. My stint as guest at every Toastmasters' meeting I go to taught me that we all have our limitations, but that doesn't mean we can't learn to keep up and share what we know.

2. Listening.

It's just as important as asking questions. Sometimes listening to the sound of our own voice can teach us to be a little bit confident with ourselves and to say the things we believe in with conviction.

3. Humility.

We all make mistakes, and sometimes we tend to slur our words, stutter, and probably mispronounce certain words even though we know what it means, but rarely use it only to impress listeners. So in a group, don't be afraid to ask if you're saying the right word properly and if they're unsure about it then make a joke out of it. I promise you it'll make everyone laugh and you can get away with it as well.

4. Eye Contact

There's a lot to say when it comes to directing your attention to your audience with an eye-catching gaze. It's important that you keep your focus when talking to a large group in a meeting or a gathering, even though he or she may be gorgeous.

5. Kidding around

A little bit of humor can do wonders to lift the tension, or worse boredom when making your speech. That way, you'll get the attention of the majority of the crowd and they'll feel that you're just as approachable, and as human to those who listen.

6. Be like the rest of them.

Interaction is all about mingling with other people. You'll get a lot of ideas, as well as knowing what people make them as they are.

7. Me,Myself,and I.

Admit it, there are times you sing to yourself in the shower. I know I do! Listening to the sound of your own voice while you practice your speech in front of a mirror can help correct the stress areas of your pitch. And while you're at it you can spruce up as well.

8. With a smile.

A smile says it all much like eye contact. There's no point on grimacing or frowning in a meeting or a gathering, unless it's a wake. You can better express what you're saying when you smile.

9. A Role Model.

There must be at least one or two people in your life you have listened to when they're at a public gathering or maybe at church. Sure they read their lines, but taking a mental note of how they emphasize what they say can help you once you take center stage.

10. Preparation.

Make the best out of preparation rather than just scribbling notes and often in a hurried panic. Some people like to write things down on index cards, while other resort to being a little more silly as they look at their notes written on the palm of their hand (not for clammy hands, please). Just be comfortable with what you know since you enjoy your work.

And that about wraps it up. These suggestions are rather amateurish in edgewise, but I've learned to empower myself when it comes to public or private speaking and it never hurts to be with people to listen how they make conversations and meetings far more enjoyable as well as educational.

10 questions you should ask to yourself: a preparation to self-improvement

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TKXPhap0aEI/AAAAAAAAAf4/4IdVAWDyy58/s1600/ring.jpg" border="0" alt="10 questions you should ask to yourself"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523048691037136962" />
Be all you can be, but it's not always in the Army. I often see myself as somewhat contented with my life the way things are, but of course it's hard to think of anything else when where are real issues to be discussed.

Still I aspire for something deeper and more meaningful.

So we're all pelted with problems. Honestly it shouldn't even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be. Aspirations as kids should continue to live within us, even though it would be short-lived or as long as we could hold on to the dream. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks… or can they? This is question for self improvement tips.

1. What do I really want?
The question of the ages. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time to even go about during the day.

Find something that you are good at can help realize that small step towards improvement. Diligence is the key to know that it is worth it.

2. Should I really change?
Today's generation has taken another level of redefining 'self', or at least that's what the kids are saying. Having an army of teenage nieces and nephews has taught me that there are far worse things that they could have had than acne or maybe even promiscuity. So how does that fit into your lifestyle?

If history has taught us one thing, it's the life that we have gone through. Try to see if partying Seventies style wouldn't appeal to the younger generation, but dancing is part of partying. Watch them applaud after showing them how to really dance than break their bones in break-dancing.

3. What's the bright side in all of this?
With so much is happening around us there seem to be no room for even considering that light at the end of the tunnel. We can still see it as something positive without undergoing so much scrutiny. And if it's a train at the end of the tunnel, take it for a ride and see what makes the world go round!

4. Am I comfortable with what I'm doing?
There's always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, or purse, shirt and whatnot. It doesn't take a genius to see yourself as someone unique, or else we'll all be equally the same in everything we do. Variety brings in very interesting and exciting questions to be experimented.

5. Have I done enough for myself?
Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment in every aspect can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts you'll be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing.

6. Am I happy at where I am today?
It's an unfair question so let it be an answer! You love being a good and loving mom or dad to your kids, then take it up a notch! Your kids will love you forever. The same goes with everyday life!

7. Am I appealing to the opposite sex?
So maybe I don't have an answer to that, but that doesn't mean I can't try it, though. Whether you shape-up, change the way you wear your clothes or hair, or even your attitude towards people, you should always remember it will always be for your own benefit.

8. How much could I have?

I suppose in this case there is no such things on having things too much or too little, but it's more on how badly you really need it. I'd like to have lots of money, no denying that, but the question is that how much are you willing to work for it?

9. What motivates me?

What motivates you? It's an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of the may be the hardest part. It's not like you can't have one serving of your favorite food in a buffet and that's it. Just try it piece by piece.

10. What Really Makes You Tick?

So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it's something that you really want.

Accepting to Improve your Personal Life

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TKNL7kV_kXI/AAAAAAAAAfw/bC90MhG3kNw/s400/plane.jpg" border="0" alt=" Personal Life "id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522341054826647922" />

Do you have the ability to accept the things you can change and the things you cannot change? Do you have the ability to accept that other people are opt to change them, rather than you changing them? Do you accept that you are who you are, regardless of what others think? Can you accept the many changes that take place in your life?

If you answered yes to one or all of these questions then you are off to the start of improving your personal life. If you are willing to accept, you have the ability to laugh, even when something is not funny. For instance, if someone pushed you, you could stand back and laugh. The push is only a threat to your emotion, which you will see, accept and find a way to gain control of the situation.

When you can accept things in life, including you and others you find a way to take control. When you are in control, it helps you to see how you can improve your personal life. When you learn to accept you will learn to discover you.

Individuality is personal, which philosophers over generalize this subject. Many people in the world believe that when we act the same way at all times, we have established our identity. Politically incorrect! We have emotions, thoughts, behaviors, actions, and have been plagued by a world of influences both good and bad. Each day we will feel something new, which causes our personality to reflect on these changes. Therefore, when you see someone laughing one minute and crying the next, you are seeing a shift in emotions, which is a normal pattern of identity for this person. Unless the persons eyes change, behaviors change dramatically, friends change regularly, etc, and you are seeing common behaviors.

We live in a world that desensitizes us. We are surrounding by billions of influences on television, in the media, on radio, in house-holds, government, schools and so forth. Each to their own, but everyone is judging someone at some time, which is something we have to accept. We cannot change these peoples behaviors and way of thinking, but we can change ours. This is a part of learning and accepting. The best way around the world is become your own influence and allow other influences to make someone else’s life miserable. Only rely on sources that prove truthful with their actions, behaviors and words. Positive reflections are the key to living happier.

Once you learn to accept you will be eager to laugh. For instance, if someone makes you mad you will see the humor in his or her actions. You may see the humor in your actions if you make a mistake and feed into their stupidity.

Once you start to see the humor in life, you will feel better inside. We are involved in a unruly world filled with greedy people, envious souls, lusty tigers, and so on. We have to learn how to work around these people, accept us and move on. Once you learn to change to better you, other people may follow. Good conduct has proven far more effective than words to encourage others to change.

As you grow you will feel a new hunger, and that hunger will guide you to discover new ways to better you. In time as you start to feel better, you will see a need to exercise, eat right, and hang out with positive influences and so on. Once you feel this hunger, you will feel inspired to labor to achieve your goals.

Mental Attitude

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300 px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TJ9XPe-MtrI/AAAAAAAAAfA/UGaIGSRaurk/s1600/mental.jpg" border="0" alt="mental attitude"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5521227591703115442" />

Success is in the blood. There are men whom fate can never keep down they march forward in a jaunty manner, and take by divine right the best of everything that the earth affords. But their success is not attained by means of the Samuel Smiles-Connecticut policy. They do not lie in wait, nor scheme, nor fawn, nor seek to adapt their sails to catch the breeze of popular favor. Still, they are ever alert and alive to any good that may come their way, and when it comes they simply appropriate it, and tarrying not, move steadily on.

Good health! Whenever you go out of doors, draw the chin in, carry the crown of the head high, and fill the lungs to the utmost; drink in the sunshine; greet your friends with a smile, and put soul into every hand-clasp.

Do not fear being misunderstood; and never waste a moment thinking about your enemies. Try to fix firmly in your own mind what you would like to do, and then without violence of direction you will move straight to the goal.

Fear is the rock on which we split, and hate the shoal on which many a barque is stranded. When we become fearful, the judgment is as unreliable as the compass of a ship whose hold is full of iron ore; when we hate, we have unshapely the rudder; and if ever we stop to meditate on what the gossips say, we have allowed a hawser to foul the screw.

Keep your mind on the great and splendid thing you would like to do; and then, as the days go gliding by, you will find yourself unconsciously seizing the opportunities that are required for the fulfillment of your desire, just as the coral insect takes from the running tide the elements that it needs. Picture in your mind the able, earnest, useful person you desire to be, and the thought that you hold is hourly transforming you into that particular individual you so admire.

Thought is supreme, and to think is often better than to do.

Preserve a right mental attitude, the attitude of courage, frankness and good cheer.

Darwin and Spencer have told us that this is the method of Creation. Each animal has evolved the parts it needed and desired. The horse is fleet because he wishes to be; the bird flies because it desires to; the duck has a web foot because it wants to swim. All things come through desire and every sincere prayer is answered. We become like that on which our hearts are fixed.

Many people know this, but they do not know it thoroughly enough so that it shapes their lives. We want friends, so we scheme and chase 'cross lots after strong people, and lie in wait for good folks or alleged good folks hoping to be able to attach ourselves to them. The only way to secure friends is to be one. And before you are fit for friendship you must be able to do without it. That is to say, you must have sufficient self-reliance to take care of yourself, and then out of the surplus of your energy you can do for others.

The individual who craves friendship, and yet desires a self-centered spirit more, will never lack for friends.

If you would have friends, cultivate solitude instead of society. Drink in the ozone; bathe in the sunshine; and out in the silent night, under the stars, say to yourself again and yet again, "I am a part of all my eyes behold!" And the feeling then will come to you that you are no mere interloper between earth and heaven; but you are a necessary part of the whole. No harm can come to you that does not come to all, and if you shall go down it can only be amid a wreck of worlds.

Like old Job, that which we fear will surely come upon us. By a wrong mental attitude we have set in motion a train of events that ends in disaster. People who die in middle life from disease, almost without exception, are those who have been preparing for death. The acute tragic condition is simply the result of a chronic state of mind a culmination of a series of events.

Character is the result of two things, mental attitude, and the way we spend our time. It is what we think and what we do that make us what we are.

By laying hold on the forces of the universe, you are strong with them. And when you realize this, all else is easy, for in your arteries will course red corpuscles, and in your heart the determined resolution is born to do and to be. Carry your chin in and the crown of your head high. We are gods in the chrysalis.

Acquire Power through Self Development

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TJuMIpcIW9I/AAAAAAAAAew/0uh3ROp64Nw/s320/acquire+power.jpg" border="0" alt="acquire+power"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5520159848463358930" />
It is the natural right of every human being to be happy to escape all the miseries of life. Happiness is the normal condition, as natural as the landscapes and the seasons. It is unnatural to suffer and it is only because of our ignorance that we do suffer. Happiness is the product of wisdom. To attain perfect wisdom, to comprehend fully the purpose of life, to realize completely the relationship of human beings to each other, is to put an end to all suffering, to escape every ill and evil that afflicts us. Perfect wisdom is unshaded joy.

Why do we suffer in life? Because in the scheme of nature we are being forced forward in evolution and we lack the spiritual illumination that alone can light the way and enable us to move safely among the obstacles that lie before us. Usually we do not even see or suspect the presence of trouble until it suddenly leaps upon us like a concealed tiger. One day our family circle is complete and happy. A week later death has come and gone and joy is replaced with agony. Today we have a friend. Tomorrow he will be an enemy and we do not know why. A little while ago we had wealth and all material luxuries. There was a sudden change and now we have only poverty and misery and yet we seek in vain for a reason why this should be. There was a time when we had health and strength; but they have both departed and no trace of a reason appears. Aside from these greater tragedies of life innumerable things of lesser consequence continually bring to us little miseries and minor heartaches. We most earnestly desire to avoid them but we never see them until they strike us, until in the darkness of our ignorance we blunder upon them. The thing we lack is the spiritual illumination that will enable us to look far and wide, finding the hidden causes of human suffering and revealing the method by which they may be avoided; and if we can but reach illumination the evolutionary journey can be made both comfortably and swiftly. It is as though we must pass through a long, dark room filled with furniture promiscuously scattered about. In the darkness our progress would be slow and painful and our bruises many. But if we could press a button that would turn on the electric light we could then make the same journey quickly and with perfect safety and comfort.

The old method of education was to store the mind with as many facts, or supposed facts, as could be accumulated and to give a certain exterior polish to the personality. The theory was that when a man was born he was a completed human being and that all that could be done for him was to load him up with information that would be used with more or less skill, according to the native ability he happened to be born with. The theosophical idea is that the physical man, and all that constitutes his life in the physical world, is but a very partial expression of the self; that in the ego of each there is practically unlimited power and wisdom; that these may be brought through into expression in the physical world as the physical body and its invisible counterparts, which together constitute the complex vehicle of the ego's manifestation, are evolved and adapted to the purpose; and that in exact proportion that conscious effort is given to such self-development will spiritual illumination be achieved and wisdom attained. Thus the light that leads to happiness is kindled from within and the evolutionary journey that all are making may be robbed of its suffering.

Why does death bring misery? Chiefly because it separates us from those we love. The only other reason why death brings grief or fear is because we do not understand it and comprehend the part it plays in human evolution. But the moment our ignorance gives way to comprehension such fear vanishes and a serene happiness takes its place.

Why do we have enemies from whose words or acts we suffer? Because in our limited physical consciousness we do not perceive the unity of all life and realize that our wrong thinking and doing must react upon us through other people a situation from which there is no possible escape except through ceasing to think evil and then patiently awaiting the time when the causes we have already generated are fully exhausted. When spiritual illumination comes, and we no longer stumble in the night of ignorance, the last enemy will disappear and we shall make no more forever.

Why do people suffer from poverty and disease? Only because of our blundering ignorance that makes their existence possible for us, and because we do not comprehend their meaning and their lessons, nor know the attitude to assume toward them. Had we but the wisdom to understand why they come to people, why they are necessary factors in their evolution, they would trouble us no longer. When nature's lesson is fully learned these mute teachers will vanish.

And so it is with all forms of suffering we experience. They are at once reactions from our ignorant blunderings and instructors that point out the better way. When we have comprehended the lessons they teach they are no longer necessary and disappear. It is not by the outward acquirement of facts that men become wise and great. It is by developing the soul from within until it illuminates the brain with that flood of light called genius.

One man power

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TJjgjoCh1ZI/AAAAAAAAAeo/AnUmSi9IHow/s320/power.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519408245990610322" />
Every successful concern is the result of a One-Man Power. Cooperation, technically, is an iridescent dream things cooperate because the man makes them.He cements them by his will.

But find this Man, and get his confidence, and his weary eyes will look into yours and the cry of his heart shall echo in your ears."O, for some one to help me bear this burden!"

Then he will tell you of his endless search for Ability, and of his continual disappointments and thwarting in trying to get some one to help himself by helping him.

Ability is the one crying need of the hour. The banks are bulging with money, and everywhere are men looking for work. The harvest is ripe. But the Ability to captain the unemployed and utilize the capital, is lacking sadly lacking. Your man of Ability has a place already. Yes, Ability is a rare article.

But there is something that is much scarcer, something finer far, something rarer than this quality of Ability.

It is the ability to recognize Ability.

The sternest comment that ever can be made against employers as a class, lies in the fact that men of Ability usually succeed in showing their worth in spite of their employer, and not with his assistance and encouragement.

If you know the lives of men of Ability, you know that they discovered their power, almost without exception, threw chance or accident. Had the accident not occurred that made the opportunity, the man would have remained unknown and practically lost to the world. The experience of Tom Potter, telegraph operator at an obscure little way station, is truth painted large. That fearful night, when most of the wires were down and a passenger train went through the bridge, gave Tom Potter the opportunity of discovering himself. He took charge of the dead, cared for the wounded, settled fifty claims drawing drafts on the company burned the last vestige of the wreck, sunk the waste iron in the river and repaired the bridge before the arrival of the Superintendent on the spot.

"Who gave you the authority to do all this?" demanded the Superintendent.

"Nobody," replied Tom, "I assumed the authority."

The next month Tom Potter's salary was enhanced, and in three years he was making ten times this, simply because he could get other men to do things.

Why wait for an accident to discover Tom Potter? Let us set traps for Tom Potter, and lie in wait for him. Perhaps Tom Potter is just around the corner, across the street, in the next room, or at our elbow. Myriads of embryonic Tom Potters await discovery and development if we but look for them.

I know a man who roamed the woods and fields for thirty years and never found an Indian arrow. One day he began to think "arrow," and stepping out of his doorway he picked one up. Since then he has collected a bushel of them.

Suppose we cease wailing about incompetence, sleepy indifference and slipshod "help" that watches the clock. These things exist let us dispose of the subject by admitting it, and then emphasize the fact that freckled farmer boys come out of the West and East and often go to the front and do things in a masterly way. There is one name that stands out in history like a beacon light after all these twenty-five hundred years have passed, just because the man had the sublime genius of discovering Ability. That man is Pericles. Pericles made Athens.

And today the very dust of the streets of Athens is being sifted and searched for relics and remnants of the things made by people who were captained by men of Ability who were discovered by Pericles.

There is very little competition in this line of discovering Ability. We sit down and wail because Ability does not come our way. Let us think "Ability," and possibly we can jostle Pericles there on his pedestal, where he has stood for over a score of centuries the man with a supreme genius for recognizing Ability.

Physical Tone

"In the healthy body every cell is polarized in subjection to the Central Will. Perfect health, therefore, is orderly obedience, government and harmony. Every cell is a living entity, whether of vegetable or animal potency, and wherever disease is, there are disunion, error, rebellion and insubordination; and the deeper the seat of the confusion, the more dangerous the malady and the harder to quell it." J. C. Street.

The thought of the above quotation does not mean that the insubordination is necessarily conscious to the diseased individual, but that it surely obtains within the physical arena of his life. Because it is not the outcome of his deliberate choice, the case is not hopeless in the nature of things, but is open to better conditions. The deeper self which has intended no rebellion against the laws of bodily well-being may now distinctly intend harmony, and so lift the body to a higher plane.

And the last sentence in the quotation does not mean that you are to undertake a vast amount of hard work, assuming that you are not in perfect physical condition. You are, rather, just to begin and go on thinking yourself in a real way as in harmony with the Central Will, which is our White Life, and to hold steadfastly in the deeper self the ideas, Affirmation and Realization of Splendid Personal Tone.

Some of the meanings of these powerful words will be unfolded later, In the meantime, as all things are subject to law, let us observe a number of the general conditions to three-fold health, that of body, mind and the inner self, regarding their totality as the atmosphere, so to speak, in which courage most easily and perfectly thrives.

Fear in man is a result of repeated suggestion, to which low health-tone is a natural invitation. Health is the primary tonic against fear. Perfect physical health is mere strength. Perfect mental health is mere brain sanity. Perfect soul-health is the whole of the man at his best. When the body is buoyant, the mind clear and inspired, the soul harmonic with all existence rightly in the universe, then is the impulse of fear easily mastered and the habit of fear finds no encouragement. There are, indeed, courageous invalids who have not come into the secret of right thought so far as health is concerned, and fearing atheltes and scholars who have neglected the secret of courage, and timorous saints who have failed to possess themselves of the confidence of goodness. Nevertheless, the eternal law is evident that the one great enemy of fear is The White Life in Harmonic Mind in Buoyant Body.

A person who affirms and realizes these conditions must, in the nature of things, be possessed of perfect health. In the tone of such health courage is inevitable.

That you may come to this ideal, you are invited to observe the following instructions. Health is a trinity, and we may begin our studies with its natural basis:

The general tone of health.
---------------------------

The word "tone" means, "sound in relation to volume, quality, duration and pitch," then, "peculiar characteristic sound as of a voice or instrument," then, "characteristic style or tendency, predominating aim or character, tenor, strain, spirit."

Hence, in the sense of health, tone signifies "the state of tension or firmness proper to the tissues of the body; the state in which all the parts and organs have due tension or are well strung; the strength and activity of the organs on which healthy functions depend; that state of the body in which all the normal functions are performed with healthy vigor".

We thus see that health-tone involves the whole personality, physical, mental and moral.

But the truth of the matter hides in a deeper region than that of mere material flesh or organ. Matter is a form of the Universal Ether, so far as science seems to declare, or, at least, matter presupposes the ether in a state of vibration. Your body is a "field" in which etheric vibrations are constantly taking place. All its reality and all its activities involve such vibrations. The brain, regarded as the organ of conscious life, of thought and feeling, and the entire nervous system, involve such vibrations. And as your thought and feeling constitute the foundation of your moral character, the latter also becomes a matter of movements in the ether.

In the case of heat, light, electricity, etc., differing kinds of such vibrations determine the kinds of phenomena. We may say, then, that there is one general kind of ether-movement for matter, and another for thought and feeling, and another for the moral life. Each individual, however, presents variations of these general kinds of vibrations, a particular variation for his body, and for his mental person, and for his right or wrong self-spirit. We individualize the ether, Or, we are individualized as we use the ether.

The tone of a person's health is determined by the state of the etheric movements characteristic to himself.

If the vibrations underlying the body life are full and harmonious according to their individual character for a person, his organs are all sound and active. He possesses physical tone. If there is a similar fullness and harmony within his mental life, he must exhibit health of mind. If a corresponding condition obtains in the moral personality, the highest health of the deeper self prevails.

Exclusive friendship

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yG4fWk4iX4E/TJJf_EXJ96I/AAAAAAAAAdw/vfXiVPnsk_g/s320/friendship.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5517578030589540258" />
An excellent and gentle man of my acquaintance has said, "When fifty-one per cent of the voters believe in co-operation as opposed to competition, the Ideal Commonwealth will cease to be a theory and become a fact."

That men should work together for the good of all is very beautiful, and I believe the day will come when these things will be, but the simple process of fifty-one per cent of the voters casting ballots for socialism will not bring it about.

The matter of voting is simply the expression of a sentiment, and after the ballots have been counted there still remains the work to be done. A man might vote right and act like a fool the rest of the year.

The socialist who is full of bitterness, fight, faction and jealousy is creating an opposition that will hold him and all others like him in check. And this opposition is well, for even a very imperfect society is forced to protect itself against dissolution and a condition which is worse. To take over the monopolies and operate them for the good of society is not enough, and not desirable either, so long as the idea of rivalry is rife.

As long as self is uppermost in the minds of men, they will fear and hate other men, and under socialism there would be precisely the same scramble for place and power that we see in politics now.

Society can never be reconstructed until its individual members are reconstructed. Man must be born again. When fifty-one per cent of the voters rule their own spirit and have put fifty-one per cent of their present envy, jealousy, bitterness, hate, fear and foolish pride out of their hearts, then socialism will be at hand, and not until then.

The subject is entirely too big to dispose of in a paragraph, so I am just going to content myself here with the mention of one thing, the danger to society of exclusive friendships between man and man, and woman and woman. No two persons of the same sex can complement each other, neither can they long uplift or benefit each other. Usually they deform the mental and spiritual estate. We should have many acquaintances or none. When two men begin to "tell each other everything," they are hiking for senility. There must be a bit of well-defined reserve. We are told that in matter solid steel for instance the molecules never touch. They never surrender their individuality. We are all molecules of Divinity, and our personality should not be abandoned. Be yourself, let no man be necessary to you. Your friend will think more of you if you keep him at a little distance. Friendship, like credit, is highest where it is not used.

I can understand how a strong man can have a great and abiding affection for a thousand other men, and call them all by name, but how he can regard any one of these men much higher than another and preserve his mental balance, I do not know.

Let a man come close enough and he'll clutch you like a drowning person, and down you both go. In a close and exclusive friendship men partake of others' weaknesses.

In shops and factories it happens constantly that men will have their chums. These men relate to each other their troubles they keep nothing back they sympathize with each other, they mutually condole.

They combine and stand by each other. Their friendship is exclusive and others see that it is. Jealousy creeps in, suspicion awakens, hate crouches around the corner, and these men combine in mutual dislike for certain things and persons. They foment each other, and their sympathy dilutes sanity by recognizing their troubles men make them real. Things get out of focus, and the sense of values is lost. By thinking some one is an enemy you evolve him into one.

Soon others are involved and we have a clique. A clique is a friendship gone to seed.

A clique develops into a faction, and a faction into a feud, and soon we have a mob, which is a blind, stupid, insane, crazy, ramping and roaring mass that has lost the rudder. In a mob there are no individuals all are of one mind, and independent thought is gone.

A feud is founded on nothing it is a mistake a fool idea fanned into flame by a fool friend! And it may become a mob.

Every man who has had anything to do with communal life has noticed that the clique is the disintegrating bacillus and the clique has its rise always in the exclusive friendship of two persons of the same sex, who tell each other all unkind things that are said of each other "so be on your guard." Beware of the exclusive friendship! Respect all men and try to find the good in all. To associate only with the sociable, the witty, the wise, the brilliant, is a blunder go among the plain, the stupid, the uneducated, and exercise your own wit and wisdom. You grow by giving have no favorites you hold your friend as much by keeping away from him as you do by following after him.

Revere him yes, but be natural and let space intervene. Be a Divine molecule.

Be yourself and give your friend a chance to be himself. Thus do you benefit him, and in benefiting him you benefit yourself.

The finest friendships are between those who can do without each other.

Of course there have been cases of exclusive friendship that are pointed out to us as grand examples of affection, but they are so rare and exceptional that they serve to emphasize the fact that it is exceedingly unwise for men of ordinary power and intellect to exclude their fellow men. A few men, perhaps, who are big enough to have a place in history, could play the part of David to another's Jonathan and yet retain the good will of all, but the most of us would engender bitterness and strife.

And this beautiful dream of socialism, where each shall work for the good of all, will never come about until fifty-one per cent of the adults shall abandon all exclusive friendships. Until that day arrives you will have cliques, denominations which are cliques grown big factions, feuds and occasional mobs.

Do not lean on any one, and let no one lean on you. The ideal society will be made up of ideal individuals. Be a man and be a friend to everybody.

When the Master admonished his disciples to love their enemies, he had in mind the truth that an exclusive love is a mistake. Love dies when it is monopolized. It grows by giving. Your enemy is one who misunderstands you why should you not rise above the fog and see his error and respect him for the good qualities you find in him?

Personel magnetisme

Let us understand. You cannot reasonably hope to succeed by merely dreaming about success.

You surely cannot achieve success if you plunge blindly through your career.

You cannot really succeed without possessing some degree of personal magnetism.

When you began reading this article, you certainly possessed a measure of magnetic capacity, either physical or psychic. If you have energetically observed its directions, you have developed both varieties; but, above that, you have also combined them into one living whole, the magnetic personality.

This result has required at least a year of persistent effort. If you have arrived at this point in less time, you should go back and begin where haste first retarded your progress.

Magnetism is a natural growth.
------------------------------

No matter how great may be your ability to read and understand books, that growth, that law, require time as well as intelligent effort. No matter how poor may be your ability in such respect, that growth is absolutely certain if you put reasonable time and genuine effort into its acquisition.

The giant trees of California were once puny saplings. The slow lapse of time has drawn nature into their mighty hearts. Magnetism can no more be acquired by the mere reading an article, or by hurried practice of its directions, than can these giants of the West be produced in the hot-house culture of a northern summer.

Magnetic growth is naturally slow. Its principles, its methods, and the results of its study, have to be deeply sunk into and absorbed and assimilated by the subjective self before the reaction of magnetism in the objective life can obtain. If you have read these lines correctly, you have learned that magnetic growth cannot be hurried. These statements are placed here because, had they appeared at the beginning of our work, the outlook would have seemed, perhaps, discouraging, but more especially because they would not have been understood. You now understand them because you have toiled, and you can afford to smile at such possible discouragement. You have paid an easy price for magnetic power, for the gains discount the pains.

Magnetism and practical life.
-----------------------------

The faithful observance of these suggestions has developed many surprises during the time occupied. The growth of magnetism involves intense and continuous concentration of thought upon the psychic field, and it is very likely that you may find it necessary to guard against that danger. The method of so guarding is briefly indicated below.

The sole value of magnetism consists in its practical application to everyday affairs. Success-Magnetism is not an accomplishment merely; it is a practical power. When rightly developed and used, it controls the subjective self in the concrete work of the objective. The definition of the goal you have been seeking now appears:

Success-magnetism is personal magnetism intelligently multiplied into actual life.

The first duty of man is practical sanity.
<img width='1' height='1'
