With a sudden blast of horribly humid heat hitting New York and putting the inevitable march to Winter on hold for a bit, I figured it was time to trot out the summer playlist for one last go around.

Courtesy of PureVolume, the beer guzzling, glass breaking, moon howling vixens of Deap Vally, Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards, have put together the perfect summer playlist.

On a side note, if you haven't picked up your copy of their blistering debut LP Sistronix that just dropped on Tuesday, you need to hurry up and tattoo it to your eardrums ASAP.

Ville Lizell – Truth As We Know It

Only 16 years old and Ville Lizell is pushing some seriously catchy indie pop. Like his fellow Scandinavian brethren, Lizell sounds a bit like Kings of Convenience as remixed by Air with his dreamy vocals backed by an acoustic guitar and some subtly space-age electronic beats.

The highly anticipated debut album of blistering rock duo Deap Vally is finally here. On Sistronix, out today, these napalm breathing she wolfs will grind your bones to dust with their scorched earth take no prisoners fuck off blues rock.

With its brutal rhythms, guttural banshee wails, major distortion, and body shaking drums, the album is a fiery sacrifice to the gods of rock. Steeped in the live fast die young tradition, songs are dedicated to hedonistic debauchery and brutally hard living with titles like “Bad for my Body” and “Walk of Shame.”

Australia’s Burn Antares is back, along with Aesthetes Anonymous (sorry for the long break) with the haunting new track “Man’s Eyes.”

In the same vein as “Into the Night,” this five piece is mining the depths of psychedelic 60s desert rock a la Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood meets Jefferson Airplane. With bewitching vocals that draw on those sirens Stevie Nicks and Wanda Jackson and scorching Ennio Morricone-esque guitar lines, “Man’s Eyes” sucks you in and takes you on a frenzied ride through the eerie darkness of the night where guns, mysticism, and vision quests rule.

After teasing us with the latest Arctic Monkeys single, silly copyright laws prevented us folks stateside from actually seeing it. Fortunately for us, the lawyers got it all sorted out and we’ve now got the premiere of “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” video to drool over.

Taking a cinematic approach, the clip follows a revved up Alex Turner on a deliriously soused late night quest for booty. Following in the same vein as “Do I Wanna Know?,” their latest single features a massive, steady rocking hip-hop inspired beat over the most minimal of vocals. To quote Alex Turner, it sounds “like a Dr. Dre beat” that’s been “given an Ike Turner bowl-cut and sent galloping across the desert on a Stratocaster.”
