I shut the door with only my guitar, capo, and pick. I pulled a lot of old songs out of the closet that i knew had potential or that i still enjoyed somewhere back in my mind... but that i was keeping on the shelf for the right time or until they were ready. I think im convinced tonight that what were once just small pieces and little bits and bites... are now ready.

Tonight a feeling was brought to the table so strong it can hardly be expressed in words. Maybe not even expressed in music. Maybe only in passion and desire. Emotion and love. Its a feeling when everything comes together just right, and you feel for once in your life.. you have something that you can be proud of. Not what anyone else thinks or says, not what is right or wrong, not what will later be considered a waste of time or unoriginal. That requires a reason or rules... something that makes you stronger. makes your heart beat, and your blood flow. almost as if you've found a purpose in life. even if temporary, a fix nonetheless. Im speaking of something so special that you dont want to go to bed, because of fear that in the morning... it will be gone and retired. Only to be found again on another beautiful or lonely night.. when things can align just right.

I ended up getting so lost and swept away in the world of music and art and adolescence- that when i walked out of there and shut the light off sweaty, tired, and a smile on my face... it was 3:46am. 3 hours that felt like a blink, and a lifetime. All at once. Music is a beautiful thing, i tell you. Maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

I heard today was a beautiful one.

I spent mine missing out.

But its okay.

Because if theres one thing ive learned,

Its that another day will come.

Another day, A beautiful one.

~Lyrics for me, By me

-Jordan Deviance

AESTHETIC DEVIANCE 2.0

I am not dead. It’s a tough world to know things for sure and most of it will always continue to be based on faith, hope, and intent. One thing I can say I am not only a believer in but that remains physical proof of this world, is that change is constant. Whether you want it to or not, that is one thing that affects us all and that none of us have any control over. It will always be for the better and for the worse. There are no patterns involved, it does not entail an up or down answer, everything is always different and it will always continue that way. You just cant plan it no matter how hard you try. So regardless of your thoughts, opinions, feelings, emotions, and wishes… at some point, there will always be a change in your life. It might even happen quite frequently. In other words, just when you get used to one way, or are starting to enjoy one situation… a new one is right around the corner. So I think not adapting to your current situation, but instead adapting to change itself… you just might be better off than most people. It’s a chance to get “ahead of the game” if you will. If you are always prepared for things never being the same and always the possibility of new outcomes, new times, new standards-it just might be the key. I guess the moral of my little twisted opinion, is never think whats in front of you is all you will ever have. Also never think it is all there will ever be. Because its been proven, that’s just not true. We cant hold on to the things we love or want the most forever. Everything moves. Everything ends. Everything changes. Change is constant folks… follow it.

Current Music Choice: Coldplay - A Rush of Blood To The Head

-Jordan Deviance

More From The Road

So we left for Lake Okojobi about 10 minutes ago from des moines. We’re looking at a good 4 hour drive ahead of us which leads to the reason im writing this blog at the moment. It’s a good time to think, talk, throw my thoughts out to the world.

Today marks 5 days in a row ive been living out of a suitcase. By Monday it will be 2 weeks. Its an odd feeling because usually I remember how much I miss home when ive been away from it for a long time. However, I just really don’t mind lately. I think im kind of in one of those stages in life where a lot of major changes are about to occur. I think within 6 months I will be in a completely different place than im in right now. Which is so strange to me because I have NEVER been in this situation. Ive never had to find a new place to call “home”. The thought has never even crossed my mind, ive lived in the same house with the same people for 21, almost 22 years now. It’s the only home I’ve ever had. So this will be a new mountain for me. I do look forward to it though, as much as staying small is easy and fun… we all need to grow at times and we do all need to mature eventually and also adapt.

Im drinking this stuff right now called “FUNCTION”. I got it at gateway market which is a natural and organic food store. Its loaded with plenty of antioxidents and ingredients that only physicians could pronounce and explain. In fact, it says on the bottle “Created By Physicians”. Either way, this particular flavor is called BRAINIAC and states it will: “Boost your memory and mental sharpness with a patented system delivered directly to the brain.” It claims I will be able to find lost car keys and think of television theme songs stuck in my head. So that’s good to know. I will let you know if I have any mental breakthroughs. I mean wouldn’t it be great, if there were drinks like this to fix all of our little problems? If that were the case, would any of you drink them?

I am drinking way too much coffee, energy drinks, pop, and caffeine lately. On top of VERY little sleep, no exercise, and not the healthiest choice of food… my body isn’t real happy with me. When I get home, im going to try to get back on my health track again. Its weird but I actually did feel a lot better mentally and physically when I was running every night and avoiding so much caffeine and terrible food all the time. So as soon as im back and the world isn’t spinning so fast… im cleaning up again.

Im going to start listing my music choice at the end of my blogs. It will usually be a song, but it might be an entire album or artist even. I listen to a lot of indie/underground music that I think a lot of people don’t know about, but that more people should. A lot of very talented musicians that aren’t as out there as they should be. I also listen to a lot of mainstream stuff as well and most of it gets a bad rep and isn’t necessarily worth kicking to the side. I always enjoy discovering new music and I love when I find new material to fall in love with so I encourage it. Maybe you will too. So if you don’t dig it…don’t. But if you do, You’re Welcome!

Current Music Choice: Jason Mraz – Geek In The Pink

Traversing

Its already been a long week for Mr. Jordan. This is a mobile update from road of interstate 80. Im currently riding to Des Moines with some coworkers for an event we are all working at tonight. Then tomorrow we all head to Lake Okoboji, stay the night, hit up our next event bright and early and then more filming all weekend in Des Moines. I tell ya, little Jordan can't get a break lately. Im trying to cut back on caffeine, but by the end of this week.. I think it will still remain my new best friend! Ill update you more and perhaps throw up some pictures later tonight when I get to the apartment. For now though, its back to the open road. See ya folks!
-Jordan Deviance

Food Guru Moments

Its 1:23pm and im sitting here in the studio at work waiting to start shooting. It feels like its about 7pm though. Stayed up til 4am last night playing Mario Kart Wii with Jake. Then had to be up at 8am to leave by 9 to make it to work back here in Burlington by noon. Lots of Starbucks and Red Bulls later, im sitting here just kind of zoning out with a head full of balloons. I havent shaved in about a week, so tired, and cant wait to get some sleep in my own bed. Ive been sleeping on a futon the past couple of nights that happens to have an inconvenient metal pole down the middle. Totally worth it, but sleeping in my own bed tonight will be nice!
I had a real good weekend in Des Moines. Celebrated 4th of July with Ivy and Jake, saw some fireworks, took a lot of pictures, rode on a carousel, and played more wii than most individuals should. The thought of me moving up there becomes more and more convincing by the day. So maybe ill go for it one of these days. Finally hop out of Burlington for once.

We're making little Salmon Kazu burgers today and they look delicious. We're getting underway now so i better get back to work. Have a nice little Sunday everyone. Enjoy the beautiful weather!

-Jordan Deviance

Day 1 of a busy busy week...

Woke up at 8am this morning after a struggling 4 hours of sleep. Worked all day trying to finish up several projects with deadlines. Then hit the road and drove to Des Moines. Made it safe and sound around 7:30. Went to a symphony and fireworks show downtown with Ivy and Jake. Took some pictures, filmed a bit. Came back to the apartment and played Wii all night. Its 2:00am and i am exhausted. Running on fumes here so im hitting the bed. However, this weekend should be very fun and a blog will most likely form from it. This is only the beginning though, a lot happening the next 7 days for me. For now though, I got knives in my eyes... good night folks!

-Jordan Deviance

Im Still Here

Thank you for the people continuing to go to the site everyday and patiently checking back and forth for new things. Im sorry im not as dedicated as i used to be, ive been a busy guy and work takes up most of my time. I do have a lot of intentions still, to do a huge update soon and upload a bunch of things ive been working on/wanting to do. Just trying to find the time.
I might start blogging some more soon. Ill be going to Lake Okoboji next weekend for work. Ive never been there before so i look forward to that. It is however, a 6 hour drive and a couple lonely hotel stay nights so im sure ill have something on my mind. Maybe there will be a few randoms out there who might want to hear what i have to say. Until then, im off to bed. Ill be back soooon!

-Jordan Deviance

$3.99/Gal. That signified my official boycott of fuel until i leave for tour. Today marked the first day of Jordan's GOING GREEN streak. I won't be driving my car but instead biking and running everywhere i go for the next 2 weeks until i leave for tour. I dont plan on this boosting our economy, i dont plan on George Bush calling me and saying "man, im sorry.. we'll lower gas prices again", i dont even plan on this benefitting my money situation or saving the world that much. Instead, i plan on it benefitting my health and reminding me why im free. Sure, ill save about $60 by doing this... but i will also feel alive and enjoy the world much more. So if you see me around town on a bike jamming with some bose headphones.. honk or yell at me. Preferably something along the lines of "you suck" or "hey pussy boy" or even "look at that fairy on a girl's bike" I promise i will love it. So with all of this being said...

take THAT middle east...

-Jordan Deviance

Tour Schedule

Come June 10th Im departing on a journey, and this is where you will find me...

June 10th: The Modern Exchange - Southgate, Michigan 8PM
June 11th: Reggie's Rock Club - Chicago, Illinois 6PM

June 12th: The Picador - Iowa City, Iowa 8PM

June 13th: The Rock Box - Rockford, Illinois 7PM

June 14th: Rhino's - Bloomington, Indiana 8PM

June 15th: The Rutledge - Nashville, Tennessee 7PM

June 16th: The Beta Bar - Tallahassee, Florida 8PM

June 17th: Jack Rabbit's - Jacksonville, Florida 8PM

June 18th: The Capitol - Ocala, Florida 7PM

June 19th: The Haven - Winter Park, Florida 9PM

June 20th: The Sentient Bean - Savannah, Georgia 8PM

June 21st: The Raven - Burlington, North Carolina 8PM

June 22nd: Studio LuLoo - Oaklyn, New Jersey 8PM

June 23rd: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - HOME!

-Jordan Deviance

Huge Pre-Summer Update

Hey gang! Mr. Deviant here. Its 5:15 am and i can hear so many little birds chirping outside my window as im watching the sunrise. This truly is a good place to be... trust me on that.

So summer is about to kickoff and i actually have some things planned! woo hoo! Im working like a little crazy man right now. I even started doing quite a bit of freelancing on top of my normal job and its really keeping me busy. (The main reason Mr. Insomniac is blogging at 5:15 am :/) So ill be doing that all summer, making some Des Moines visits and more of those highly entertaining videos so many of you are addicted to, and most importantly im hitting the road yet again! Im going on a 2 week tour with my good friends "MAKEOUT PARTY" from New Jersey. You may have heard/seen them in the video i shot/edited which is here on the site. I will be shooting as much as i can for a documentary/tour dvd im putting together for them. Should be a very good time... we all need to get away at times and clear our heads. What better place than the open road? Ill post the tour schedule soon so all you awesome fans out there can stalk me every step of the way! Ill most definitely need some company ;)

In other news, i suggest you all check out the movie "IM NOT THERE" which came out last week. It follows the life of Bob Dylan and his incredible journey through life. I will warn you now that its very "out there" and as chaotic and weird as he is... but its just an interesting and intriguing style of film. Definitely worth checking out. Also, if you aren't very familiar or don't know much about his music: i suggest everyone listen to the song "I Want You". Im so hooked on it!

Oh yeah... buy the new coldplay album: "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends" when it comes out June 17th. Soooo good.

The NBA playoffs just ended. My San Antonio Spurs lost in game 6... bummer. I hate the lakers. and for all of those out there making fun of me right now, YES I ACTUALLY WATCH BASKETBALL FROM TIME TO TIME OKAY??

I have a lot of new pictures/small video projects i want to put up eventually. However, right now with my crazy schedule i dont see it happening very soon. I did write a couple short films i plan on trying to at least shoot before i leave for tour. One of them actually has a lot of meaning in it and touches on some film styles and techniques ive never really ventured on and i think many of you will absolutely love it. I plan on making this a very creative and artistically driven summer. Ive been missing out all winter.. and i need it.

Either way, anyone who reads these things, always comment. Let me know whats up and i promise ill get back to you. Make requests. Leave feedback. Comments. Encouragement. Shit Talking. Anything. I often get busy and lose motivation so send me words and messages as much as possible and keep me going alrighttt???? yes.

Lastly and obviously most importantly... i got my hair cut the other day. Its short. For summer. Sweet right? yes.
-Jordan Deviance

IN MOTION!

Hey everyone, despite a few minor adjustments that you would probably never notice.. The new MOTION page is officially up and running! You can download all videos in all formats which look much much better than ever viewing them online. So you may want to go back through your favorite videos and finally see them in some good quality for once!

So with that out of the way, i have some very exciting news. Last week i sold my entire DVX100 Video setup. I purchased a Canon HV30 1080p High Definition Camera with a Twoneil 35mm Adaptor, and a bunch of other amazing little gadgets! So from here on out, all projects that i do will be strictly in High Definition! There will soon be a special link in the visuals section for all the new HD content, Im stoked! Arent you?!

So definitely be on the lookout for that, i will also be throwing up some new photo galleries soon and LASTLY but not LEASTLY... you can now subscribe to my blog by clicking on the little RSS Feed Subscribe icon below, so anytime i make a new blog, update, or video, it will tell you. For alllllllll the many fans out there, (haha) you can now stay up to date with the site!

What?? They're much cooler than the green words on the screen right now. Eventually you will also be able to not only view all of my videos here on the site but you can download them for your iPod in small and large quality and also download a WMV version of every single video. We have been filming a lot of new material for the official "Des Moines Blog 5" and taking several pictures. I have so much to upload from this trip, ive had a really good time and im very excited to get everything online. Its wearing me out and leaving me very little time to sleep and get some energy back, i feel exhausted but so totally worth it. i always have a good time visiting with these cats and being in the oh so wonderful capitol of our state. Hopefully ill be home soon and can share all of this with you. Until then, take care folks!

-Jordan Deviance

SPRING CLEANUP!

Hey folks, if you haven't seen or read already...im doing some cleaning around the site here, getting ready to really start kicking things off again. Ill admit ive been slightly distant from the updating procedure and the new content area. I took a small break to attend to some things in my life that i think are finally under control and my creative juices are again flowing at full force.

I have completely rearranged the image galleries in the visuals section and will soon do the same to MOTION. The goal is for a more organized and visually impressive experience. So go look at the new image setup and most definitely check out my newest addition: "FOOD GURU WORK PORTFOLIO". This is a very large chunk of all the work ive been doing at my job the past year. It includes a lot of design and marketing projects ive completed as well as many many photos ive taken for promo use or just for visual/fun purposes. Im proud of what ive done for my job, i think many of you might enjoy it as well so please check it out!

Other than that, just keep checking back and keep reading the blogs/updates. I plan on uploading a few new videos soon, i have 3 or 4 galleries i need to throw up as well and all summer long i plan on delivering full speed ahead! Thanks again to everyone who has stuck around and keeps checking back here. Each week i read the weekly statistics and am truly surprised by the numbers of visitors to my site. I hope i can continue to make you proud, everyone have a wonderful weekend!

-Jordan Deviance

A New Era

We are about to breach on a new era for Aesthetic Deviance. Our new restaurant "GRAZE" just recently opened up there and ive been helping out with a lot of promo material. (pictures, video, design work, etc.) Needless to say, im getting exhausted and its good to be home. However, i had a blast up there. Everyone was so fun and nice and its such an exciting place. The next week, possibly 2 weeks will continue to be hectic and nonstop for me. I can say though...sometimes it is nice to be busy! Hope everyone is doing well. To anyone who wonders, ive been doing very good. I may not update or add much to the site anymore, but im doing my best to stay alive, busy, and having fun. Keep your head above the water, always! I am heading to bed...

-Jordan Deviance
