But whatever may the color white represent, it has been a tradition as a shade for wedding gowns and has been used by millions of brides for years now.

By the early twentieth century, wedding dresses become more elaborate with beautiful embroidery and delicate lace to provide a timeless and classical look. Long trains and veils also became popular. At that time, the more elaborate the gown, the more it reflected the wealth and status of the bride.

But today, in the third millennium, bridal gowns are not a measure of the bride?s social standing. Nowadays, wedding dresses are no longer expensive, and they come in various prices that can go with the bride?s budget.

The Egyptians were the first civilization (as far as we know) to use wedding rings as a part of their wedding ceremonies. Ancient Egyptians wore wedding rings made from materials which were readily available to them. Less affluent people would use wedding bands woven of hemp or those made of leather or bone. The more well off would have rings carved from ivory or made of precious metals. However, these wedding rings were generally given as gifts on the occasion of a wedding and were not built to last more than a couple of years, unlike wedding bands as we know them today.

Though the tradition of the wedding ring is an old one, it might interest you to know that there were many different types. While we are very familiar with the plain gold bands, Greek women and Anatolian women in years past received puzzle rings, while women in many French speaking countries received a band that was made up of three rings interwoven together.

One part of the history of wedding rings is where they are worn. Tradition often states that they are to be worn on the third finger of the left hand, because there is a vein that goes from that finger to the heart. While this is not true, it is still the traditional placement for rings during a ceremony. During the time of Queen Elizabeth of England, the wedding ring was worn on the thumb, while in Russia, in years past, the ring was worn on the third finger of the right hand.

Take some time to think about what your wedding ring means and what kind of history or tradition you want to adhere to. Let's Find the Right Keywords

In the second of the "Affiliate Marketing News" sequence of articles, I will talk about the second step you need to take on your road to become a successful affiliate marketer. In the previous article I showed you some ways of finding good products, and in this one I will discuss the way to choose the right keywords for advertising them.

I guess you know by now what "long tail keywords" are. Phrases of three or more words are considered "long tail keywords". Here is a quick example so you immediately understand what it's all about.

Let's say your hobby is sewing and you found a great sewing patterns product. Google the key phrase "sewing patterns" and you will discover there are over 1,300,000 results to your search! In no way do you want to enter into this kind of competition. But if you search for the exact phrase "sewing patterns online," Google will return only 10,600 results. When you are done reading this series of articles you'll see that you could dominate this niche.

I use a wonderful tool, which gives me the number of sites that are optimized for a given keyword or phrase. My tool tells me that only four out of 10,600 sites are optimized for the phrase "sewing patterns online." The bad news is that the same tool also indicates that there are 176,000 searches per month for "sewing patterns" while just 4,500 searches for "sewing patterns online."

But, and there is a but, 4,500 searches combined with another log tail keyword like "sewing patterns costumes," that has over 2,000 monthly searches and zero optimized web sites, brings your total to almost 7,000 searches a month – a very nice search volume. And when you read my following articles, you'll learn how to take advantage of these data and start using the search engines for your promotions.

Performing a thorough keywords research is the most essential step for achieving a lucrative promotion. This is the backbone of any successful online marketing business. Your first search should be for the resources that would help you researching. There are a lot of free tools that you can find online.

Start by using the broadest terms: "cooking," "diet," "golf," and move on by digging deeper until you reach the long tail keywords. Keep checking on Google and the other search engines; find what the volume of searches. Eventually you will find 3-4 phrases of 3-5 words with a few thousands of monthly searches and a low competition in the form of optimized sites.

As I already mentioned, this step is the most important one in your journey to make money. You should devote your time and your best efforts to keywords research. Find online helpful tools, some are free and others have a reasonable price. They will save you a lot of time and subsequently a lot of money.

Finding Hot Products To Promote

In the next couple of weeks I will publish a series of posts, each details a step on the way to a rewarding affiliate marketing business. The first article is written for people who are completely new to the subject and are still looking for information. I will suggest a simple definition of affiliate marketing and show some simple ideas for finding lucrative products.

This article is not meant for skilled marketers or for people who are familiar with affiliate marketing and are familiar with the process of identifying products to promote, as it will discuss only the very basics. Hopefully some of the future articles will cover advanced steps, which even veteran marketers will find beneficial.

Let's start by trying to define "affiliate marketing". I always say that there is a lot of likeness between Affiliate Marketing and the California Gold Rush of the 19^th century. The fortune is there and you have to uncover it. Anyway, back to definition: the affiliate marketer gets a nice commission from the product seller every time a purchase is made by one of the visitors that you have sent to their sale page.

Roughly, you'll find three types of products: material ones – from shoes to yachts; information products – videos, software, ebooks, that are instantly downloaded to the purchaser's computer; and subscriptions to newsletters, registrations to a course etc. Thousands and thousands of sellers pay commission their affiliates for purchases and for leads.

You can see that the fortunes are there, hidden under the ground in Internet land. You need to go out there and dig it out. Most new affiliate marketers learn that their first step, i.e. finding the right product, is the most complicated step.

Let me suggest a few ideas for starters:

Think of a product that you have purchased online and were very happy with. Try to become an affiliate. Visit the product's web site or sales page and click on the link to the "affiliate program." You can read there all the details you would want to know.
Think about your hobbies. Subjects you are really interested in, such as sewing, poker playing, gardening, anything. You may know a lot about your hobby and perhaps you are a member of some forums. This will come very handy when you are ready to promote the product you choose. For instance, if your hobby is poker. You play with friends on weekends; you watch the TV poker shows. Search for a poker learning software or course to easily promote.
Think of products that are on the hot list in the United States, do a little research and find out if the Europeans heard about them. If not yet, promote these products in Europe only, using the different pay per click programs that let you choose the areas where your ads are shown. The same can be done with a product that you've found in any foreign country and is not yet known in the US.
Follow the popular products on your kids' list. Talk to them and to their friend or to any group of teenagers to find out what they like. These are usually best selling items.
Make a habit of looking at the popular magazines. They usually report about the latest trends and stylish products.
And, obviously: become an affiliate at Commision Junction, ClickBank and other such services. Their databases have thousands of products and they'll let you know what the best sellers are.
