What is a Safelist

Basically a safelist is a gathering of like minded individuals who have agreed to exchanges ads. You agree to receive ads from all the others members in exchange for the opportunity to send your own. This concept has many advantages, here’s a couple of them.

The advantages of safelist marketing

For one it’s spam free as people have to double opt-in to the safelist and thereby agreeing to receive your ads, should some nutter decide that the safelist mail is spam anyway it’s not really your problem as the mail is not sent from your email address or server. Actually this is the origin of the name, a safelist is a closed community where it is safe for members to exchange ads.

The second advantage is quite obvious but many people fail to see this, what does all safelist members have in common? They have something to sell, but they have not advanced far enough in their internet marketing carreer to dismiss a very mundane task as posting to safelist is. That means that if you have a product, report, ebook, income opportunity etc. that can help people on the way to internet glory, the average safelist user is an excellent prospect for you.
Why I will always use safelists

I could probably make do without safelists but I sure wont. Safelist are a starting point for many newbie marketers and picking those up as subscribers and customers can be very profitable e.g. they do not own every product out there and they do not know everything, meaning that you have plenty of stuff to sell them. You can see this as opposed to getting *Mike Filsaime* on your list, when your initial giggling wears off you will probably realize that Mike owns everything you promote and if he doesn’t he will probably create his own version anyway…

Mike Filsaime and safelists

Speaking of *Mike Filsaime* did you know he started his internet marketing career using safelists? I have listened to several conference calls where Mike explains how he built a list of *7000* members using nothing but safelists and that list netted him $7000 a month. In fact Mike and his “intern” Jason Dinner are still regular safelist user although I believe they pay people to do the dirty work nowadays…

…imagine that, paying people to do your safelist posting, I’m pretty sure Jason and Mike don’t find safelists useless!

The groundwork for all productive relationship marketing is acknowledging that your market place must occur before you do. Perhaps the web business person is in too much of a rush to produce profits, and that can be a costly viewpoint. If you need to make a positive sort of business relationship with any crowd, then you can find a few things to always remember. Market study is the only manner you will ever sufficiently know your market, and you have to have a level of comprehension about them. You basically have to realize their priorities and their problems. That also signifies you need to learn what their concerns are so you can target them. You are not able to be extremely impatient about this concept of creating relationships. You do that by merely providing them with beneficial and helpful information and facts.

We have all learned of Twitter, and lots of marketers do not fare well there mainly because it is all about associations in the Twitter world. So many online marketers completely fall short at Twitter for the reason that either they don’t comprehend the dynamics, or they decline to engage in relationship marketing. Sure, we have read through rather a bit about internet marketers who have attempted and hit a brick wall at Twitter, and they proclaim that it simply does not work well for business. To balance that I will point out that many other businesses have a wonderful time at Twitter, and they flourish with acquiring both business and leads. If you want to understand what made the difference, it is what we have been speaking about in this article.

You need to realize and acknowledge that relationship promotion dictates that you have tolerance. Part of that is performing the things that assist people to believe in you and your knowledge. At each stage of the path, you provide them what means the most to them. Try to remember, unfortunately it really is not about you; it is always and eternally about them. However if you go to the trouble to know what they want, what they need and then plainly give it to them, after that good things can and do come about. Make sure to run some marketing tests to assess how much your market will tolerate receiving marketing messages regarding a clear promotion for a product. There are some disparities among markets when it comes to mailing out promotional emails or mail messages of some kind.

Building relationship is essential in all business, and you need tools to achieve this goal. Please visit my site for a comprehensive list of marketing tools that is guarantee to help you get traffic for your site, get new clients for your business, and program to enhance your relationships with clients.

The whole world, online promoters or not, are well aware of the amount of traffic that moves in and out of Facebook. Obviously, all businesses from small to large tend to view that in terms of profits which is clear. Nevertheless, the deceptive nature of that story is one that could easily cause you to believe it is simple to profit there. The hole so many fall into is all that is necessary is show up a few times a week, make a post, and people start ordering from you. You could become well known in your industry. There really are few limits there, and most of them will probably be self imposed, anyway. Perhaps an important thing to keep in mind is you can easily make things harder for yourself with poor business choices.

Learn this one thing, you must always be fairly constant with your marketing and how you execute social marketing. The point about this is you might take a few steps in the wrong direction if you are not continually in touch with your target audience. A very typical scenario is to get involved and interact with your market, and as often comes about you start to get a little sluggish in your efforts. But afterward you get a rush of motivation, and the final result is you appear and post a bunch of messages to your fans, or market. While you’re at it, you incorporate a couple of links for some offers you think are great and can help them. Okay, we will explain that doing business in that style will not make you preferred with your target audience. The mixture of your absence and the hyperlinks you gave them will result in a bad opinion about you. So just spread out your marketing and be certain you talk to people on a frequent basis.

You can cause other annoying effects by failing to keep in regular contact with your market. Social marketing can be a natural method to brand yourself or your organization, so keep that in view because it is important. The need to have a constant tone in your sales messages as well as how you speak in your content matters a great deal. But not only do you have to do that, but you must be professional while at the same time being sociable. Properly achieving that is not hard at all, and it is a lot like being at a job where boundaries are clear. So keep clear of going way off topic at your fan pages by talking about things people aren’t there to hear. There is certainly nothing wrong with being relaxed and making a joke here and there. Always keep business moving forward and focus on whatever the topic is for your marketing there at Facebook.

Obviously Facebook carries on to make changes and refine the overall user experience. For instance, you positively cannot make excessive ‘friend requests’ to people you don’t know. Most certainly, Facebook has really come to be very strict about doing that, and if you send out too many you could get banished. One clever solution involves using their search function with keyword phrases that are a good fit for your specific niche market. When you do that, you will have the opportunity to find ongoing discussions about those topics. After that you realize what to do, just join in so people will become aware of you and your business.

I found a very interesting article on backlinks JP Schoeffel blog and I have copied below for your convenience.

I sometimes read marketing forums, marketing blogs and obviously, beyond the usual “how to make money online”, the most popular question is “how to drive traffic to my website…”.

I have written a lot of articles, and produced video training to detail what would make people to visit your site and what would then in turn drive the search engines crazy about your web pages. In summary, it all comes down to: Backlinks.

Firstly, because by backlinking, you’re going where your prospects are and you’re telling them, “Hey there’s something great there, come and visit us”. How could they know if you don’t get closer to them by dropping a link back to your site, at the exact place they are visiting.

Secondly, because with backlinks, you’re feeding search engines with the food they want. Why would they rank a page no one is linking to? What would it mean? Certainly that no one cares about this website. And it would end up sandboxed and ranked beyond page 50.

Now, most people know they need backlinks, without really knowing why, or how to get backlinks. Then people think that by getting 5 backlinks from 5 articles submitted at ezinearticles for example would be enough. WRONG!

This is the biggest blunder I see most webmasters do. You’ve created a great website, blog, review page, and you literally kill your work by just creating 1, 5 or even just 50 backlinks.

If you want to get a clear picture what I am talking about, please check this screenshot I took from a search on Google for the keyword (exact phrase match): “Auto insurance quotes”

The #1 website for this keyword is : allstate.com . Now, check how many backlinks they have…

900,000+ links. Of course it’s a highly popular keyword and you would not want to rank for such a keyword.

The “easiest” is to pick up some keywords where competition does not have so many backlinks. But still, it would require you build several hundreds to several thousands of backlinks if you ever want to rank well for this keyword.

BUT then again, most people get it wrong once more! And this is really surprising, especially when you see all these guys offering backlinks services. They completely miss what the essence of backlinking is.

Of course, backlinks allows you to get indexed quickly since you’re offering search engines more ways to find your web pages.

BUT

How do you think a search engine will find your backlinks!?!

It’s not a real issue when you build just 5 or 10 backlinks. They are usually created using article directories, squidoo lenses and you can hope for search engine to find them… although most of the time they won’t find it quickly, if ever. Which is also the reason why such a few number of backlinks is useless anyway.

When you create thousands of backlinks, then, you need to tell the search engines where those links are located. And this is where it becomes tricky for most people, and especially for those offering backlinking services.

INDEXATION: you can’t produce an effective backlinking campaign if you don’t get those backlinks indexed! Seems like a catch 21: you want traffic and good rankings, so you create backlinks, and a lot of them (let’s say 5000). But then those backlinks are lost into the cyber-space, and you need to get them indexed so that search engines will find them in order to finally follow them and find your “money” site!

To recap, in order to get your site indexed, you need to get your backlinks indexed! This is the key to powerful backlinking campaigns and this is truly critical. Of course “simple” backlinks (without worrying about getting those indexed) would generate some results, but not as fast and not as effective as if you add an indexation campaign for your backlinks.

It seems technical (and it is) but this is truly the only way to run effective backlinking campaigns… I will tell you in an upcoming post how I manage the whole process (well I won’t be able to describe it fully, since it’s proprietary process I am using for my business, and a kind of competitive advantage, but I will try to sketch the main principles and also give you an opportunity to use this process)

News Flash from Dr. Glenn Livingston of Rocket Clicks:

I got word from several affiliate marketers that Google dropped the hammer today on affiliate review pages. Many pages went from quality scores of 10 —> 1 overnight.

And these were NOT skinny sites, rather well build out, consistently updated blogs with good navigation above the fold, xml site maps, high click through, hyper-relevant keyword mapping, low bounce rates, long average time on page … everything else Google loves.

When we analyzed which pages survived, and we take it in combination with other information, it seems pretty clear they’ve added code which screens for affiliate links on the landing pages.

At the moment it seems cloaking and PHP redirects are untouched, … but I can’t imagine these are far behind. (I’m guessing they’re just avoiding this in order to decrease their server burden … takes some CPU cycles to visit every link on the page and evaluate for affiliate code)

I’d say it’s safe to conclude Google’s on the war path against affiliate review sites, and we should be advising clients towards a different business model… at minimum it seems necessary to avoid placing affiliate links on landing pages, but ideally, I think people need to move towards a deeper list building/relationship building strategy and/or a strong e-commerce model.

Time to stop “building on sand”.

Glenn

Many affiliates make their living creating product review sites.

Many product review sites are trash.

Many times the affiliates don’t even own the product and it’s a big pump and dump.

Savvy web surfers quickly recognize these sites and don’t trust their advice. Worse yet, it tarnishes the reputation of even a good product, because it’s cheesy and sleazy.

Google is on a mission to stamp out the “me-too rug-merchants” of the affiliate world and only give credence to quality advertisers who build their own personality and reputation and content.

If your identity on the Internet is merely borrowed from other people, you’re headed for extinction.

I’ve been saying this for 5 years, by the way.

In the $97 edition of the Definitive Guide to Google AdWords there’s a classic, must-listen MP3 for affiliates called “Jet Fuel for Google Cash.” In that MP3 I define a path for moving from “me-too” affiliate to full-fledged e-commerce vendor with a strong identity and sound reputation. It’s just as valid today as it was the day I recorded it.

Dude, if you’re an affiliate, you’d better add value to the equation, and FAST, because just squeezing yourself into the middle of transactions is getting harder by the month.

And… there’s a larger point to be made here:

The Internet used to be some fringe phenomenon where only geeks, social rejects and vagabonds hung out.

That was, maybe, 10 years ago. (Which is probably why I liked it so much.)

Now it’s center stage of the world.

Which means the Internet is no longer an easy place for digital vermin to make a quick buck. Online you need to demonstrate substance. This is what Google now expects of you.

Sorry… this is no ‘get rich quick’ notice. Instead I’m serving a warning: “If you’re looking for get rich quick, go somewhere else. Google doesn’t want your money.”

However – this is GOOD news for everyone else. If you’re an original voice, it just got that much easier to be heard in the sea of noise that’s out there.

IF YOU ARE AN AFFILIATE – here is my advice to you:

You need to take control of the sale. Now.

At the very least you need to be in control of the entire conversation.

Fact: Google doesn’t like affiliate links all that much. They don’t like anyone who’s doing “me too.”

Fortunately it’s possible to be a “Value Added Affiliate” who adds a unique contribution to the product of whatever person you are promoting.

It’s also possible to take complete control of the conversation. Build an email list.

What if you…

-Directed Google ads to a content rich website
-Followed up with email and autoresponders
-Closed the sale with a killer teleseminar – just like Michael Cage taught us how to do a couple of weeks ago?

Nice recipe for success, methinks. Come to think of it, what I do isn’t all that terribly different.

People appreciate quality content and so does Google. Give ‘em what they want and you’ll get plenty of airtime.

When WordPress 3 launched on June 17th of 2010, the ability to run a multisite network from a single installation quickly became one of the most talked about features. Formerly known as WordPress MU, this entirely separate WordPress project was simultaneously upgraded and merged with the main WordPress branch. Many were expecting WordPress Multisite to carry with it the usual WordPress simplicity, but there’s quite a bit more to do after WordPress’ famous 5-minute installation when creating a multisite network, and the complexities of the network system have led to some confusion and questions along the way.

Andrea Rennick became a user of WordPress MU about three years ago, when it was still in a pre-beta stage. She was just your typical stay at home mom and teacher, and she wanted to create a community where other homeschoolers could have their own blogs all in one location, so they could find and support one another. It took her about a month just to get everything running, and she was spending so much time on the WordPress MU Support Forum finding answers, that she eventually began helping others. Soon after, she launched WPMU Tutorials as a resource for anyone to learn about WordPress MU and now WordPress Multisite.

Now, Andrea is a prominent volunteer moderator on the WordPress Support Forums and is co-authoring the WordPress All-in-One Desk Reference.

We are very fortunate that Andrea has agreed to share with us her solutions to some of the most common WordPress Multisite problems. To avoid any interpretation issues, the rest is entirely in her own words.

“My subdomain sites don’t work, what did I do wrong?”

Subdomain sites are managed on the server through the use of wildcards. This means that the server itself needs to have them set up in Apache, and will send any request for any subdomain, straight through to the WordPress network. Then WordPress will look it up on the database and serve the right content. You also need to have a wildcard subdomain record in your DNS records. It looks like this:
in A * yourdomain.com.

“My subfolder sites don’t work / have no styles / are not in folders on the server. What’s going on?”

Subfolder sites work on the same principle as pretty permalinks do. The URL is rewritten to give the appearance that it is in a folder on the server. So, mod_rewrite has to be working on the server, and actually reading the .htaccess file. It’s the .htaccess file that does the heavy lifting of “making” the subfolder site in this case.

For either kind:
The blogs themselves are virtual. They do not exist on the server. I’ve answered a few threads about the blogs.dir folder that needs to be made on the server when you enable multisite. This folder does not hold the actual blogs. The only use it has is for media uploads from each site. If there is nothing in the folders under the blogs.dir directory, that has no relation to if the site itself shows up or not.

For more information, please see this article.

“There’s a /blog/ in my main blog. Why is it there and how do I remove it?”

Yes, this is done intentionally so any permalink off the main site does not interfere with any site name in a subfolder setup. You will not see this in a subdomain install.

You can remove it by editing the main site details under Super Admin -> Sites and editing the main site.

I actually like to use this to my advantage, and set up a home page for the whole network on the main site, and then use the /blog/ to be the “main” blog on the network.

“Help! my uploaded images don’t work! Also, they are going in one location but my blogs says they are somewhere else, why?”

This is how it is supposed to work. Images are physically located under the blogs.dir folder, in numbered folders from that correlating to each site’s blog-id#. these locations are then rewritten via the .htaccess file and served up to the “new” location. If it’s not working, then either something is missing from the .htaccess file, or the file just isn’t being read by mod_rewrite.

“Do I need a special theme? Why can’t I edit themes? How can I make changes?”

Most any theme for WordPress will work just fine when you are running a network. Super Admins are the only ones who can edit themes, and this is for security reasons. Also, themes are shared. If you set up a network with 10 sites and they all use TwentyTen, only one copy of TwentyTen is in use. This is why each site has its own admin area with their own widgets to manage.

You can give your users an option similar to wordpress.com’s css upgrade through any of these plugins.

As I touched on in the previous question, the main site’s theme is what controls the main page on the network. Getting familiar with the template hierarchy and using a static home page or the home.php template with various plugins to pull network-wide content will give many Super Admins exactly what they are looking for.

“How do I aggregate or gather all the posts from across all the sites onto the main page of my domain?”

You use the best plugin for this, of course. Sitewide Tags.

The article was originally published at: http://weblogtoolscollection.com

This needs to go in the mu-plugins folder, and will run all the time. It puts new options on the Super Admin -> Options page, and you can set it to send all new posts to the main site in the network. When new posts are made, they will be copied over to the main blog, and will retain the originating site’s permalink, so there will be no duplicate content. The only thing it will not pull is comments and post thumbnails.

I’d like to thank Andrea Rennick for generously providing her solutions to these common problems both here and on the WordPress Support Forums. If you need any help beyond what was mentioned above, please feel free to ask in the Multisite section of the WordPress Support Forums where Andrea and the rest of the talented support forum volunteers are on-hand to help you at most hours of the day.

Clickbank is one of the most popular and revolutionary online affiliate marketplaces. With options available for sellers, buyers, and affiliate marketers, it’s the go-to spot for budding affiliate marketers, online entrepreneurs, and experienced marketers alike. If you’re just beginning with internet marketing, it might come off as huge, scary, and difficult to figure out. Don’t fret; Clickbank is relatively simple to wrap your mind around when reduced down to its basic elements, and with even a basic understanding of Clickbank it’s more than likely to turn your marketing excitement into a massive, scalable online income. There are three primary goals for beginners; learn how Clickbank commissions work, figure out what products are worth selling, and learn how to effectively market your Clickbank products online.

Step number one is understanding the dynamics and underlying ideas that drive Clickbank. When you’re a beginner, it can be all too easy to spend time on the wrong metrics, and without a good understanding of Clickbank, you can fool yourself into thinking you’re picking better products than you really are. Let’s start with the absolute basics:

Signing up for an account on Clickbank is simple, and gaining access to the hundreds of products available is as simple as searching through the online product bank. Once you enter your search terms, you’ll be presented with a list of products that fit your criteria, a simple summary of the product’s statistics and specifications, and informational pages that describe the product to you. From here, it’s as easy as looking through to the product’s sales page and supporting material to get a good understanding for each item.

As a newbie, it’s best to have a look through the whole Clickbank marketplace in order to determine which products you’re most comfortable marketing. No matter what strikes your fancy, you’ll undoubtedly find that some of the products you like the most aren’t hot sellers, or are massively competitive for the commissions that they offer.

The commission information for each product is displayed on its sales and information page. When you’re searching for information and incentives to market each product, look for both the commission total, the average conversion rate, and the item’s popularity. High commission products don’t necessarily mean huge money, as there are many other variables that you need to consider when promoting a Clickbank product.

This all leads on to deciding out which products to market. For most Clickbank noob’s, the massive choice serves as a diversion and distraction more than it does an incentive to market products right away. When you’re presented with huge numbers of different products to market, it becomes substantially more difficult to decide on which one is actually the correct one for you. Instead of spending time on whatever you can see, it’s best to set some criteria for the products that you want to market, to prevent you from spinning your wheels on products that aren’t worth the effort.

Install these three simple plugins to WordPress to minimize the risk of hacking and intrusion. It’s never fun for someone to get access to your WordPress blog, but unfortunately it happens every day. Every day websites are deleted, defaced or simply taken over and you can avoid that by installing the login lockdown plugin, the HTTPS for WordPress plugin and the WP-Security plugin.

First of all, a very simple plugin called login lockdown simply blocks access to your blog if someone enters the wrong password too many times. A very common technique for hackers to get entry to WordPress blog is simply try many passwords over and over and over and over until something works. So login lockdown will block access to someone after a certain number of failed passwords. It’s a very simple plugin and it’s worth it to install this to make sure that any intruder is now locked out.

Another plugin to install is called HTTPS for WordPress. If you don’t know what HTTPS or SSL is it simply means that it is encrypting everything that gets sent to and from your WordPress site, including the username and password you use to login. Normally your username and password is broadcasted out in the open. That means if you use any kind of public WiFi anyone else on that WiFi can install a simple plugin and capture every password you type into WordPress. That is really not good. You can either not use unsecured WiFi or you can use this HTTPS plugin which will force you to use HTTPS when logging into your WordPress dashboard, therefore protecting your password from prying eyes.

And finally, the WP-Security plugin installs right into WordPress and scans all your folders for many security vulnerabilities. It checks it for any weak points, any holes, out of date plugins and gives you a very easy to follow list of things that you must do in order to keep WordPress secure.

Obviously, I can’t guarantee you will be 100 percent hack proof, but you need to at least take these basic steps to keep yourself safe.

Those three plugins will get you on your way to having a secure WordPress blog. Install Login Lockdown to lock out anyone after a certain number of failed attempts, install HTTPS for WordPress to make sure that any time you login to your dashboard it moves you over into SSL, and WP-Security scan your folders.
