I, too, have made a decision and I continue to pass it along to my son as well.  Never let a veteran or a person in uniform pass without saying “thank you for your service”.  The fact that we honor them nationally one day a year does not mean we can honor them locally everyday of the year.  So tell them thank you today and continue telling them tomorrow.  Happy Veteran’s Day and thank you for all you have done and continue to do!
How do you thank those who have served for our country?

Founded in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia Movember is a unique organization whose members grow moustaches during the month on November to raise awareness for Men’s health. The men of Movember—the month formerly known as November—start off clean shaven, and grow moustaches all month long, garnering support from friends and family in the form of donations. Also the men wearing mustaches serve as walking billboards for the cause, their new looks open doors for conversation about the cancers affecting men—making the moustache a symbol, much like the pink ribbon is for breast cancer.

Prostate Cancer strikes 1 in 6 men and testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men ages 18 to 35. Movember has raised approximately $47 million globally making it the world’s largest charity event for men. Awareness on men’s health issues have significantly improved with Movember helping to spread message to millions of people around the world.    Moustaches throughout history have represented a number of characteristics from manhood to individual style, but now in the month of November wearing a moustache is a method of support.

How will you support Movember?

Osteen is a native Texan and the Pastor of Lakewood Church, America’s largest and fastest growing church with over 38,000 attendees.  Joel is the most watched inspirational figure in America and his first book, Your Best Life Now, debuted at the top of the New York Times bestsellers list and quickly rose to #1.  It remained on the New York Times list for more than 2 years and has sold more than 4 million copies.  His next book, Become a Better You, was released in October of 2007 and was an instant New York Times bestseller, remaining on the list for more than 7 months and selling more than 1.6 million copies.

When will you be picking up your copy?

I often read heartfelt letters from different nonprofit organization’s thanking our customers and thanking Affinity4 for donations. These organizations work so hard and they are thankful for every cent they raise.

I admire Affinity4 for taking another step in helping organizations continue to make a difference in our world with their recent initiative of hosting free webinars. They are geared to helping charities and ministries fundraise at their full potential and I am glad that I was selected to lead this one. Three years ago Old Dominion University was the start of a new life for me with open doors, endless opportunities, and limitless adventure. Little did I know the college years would fly by and I would find myself an accomplished senior graduating in May 2010 with a major in Communication and a minor in Marketing. I don’t see this time in my life as an ending but as the dawn to a bright future. This fall I am enrolled in an alternative course where a student is required to find an internship position, learn from their experience, and of course write a few papers. I was fortunate to find a marketing internship with Affinity4 through the university career management center. When I first applied I had course credits in mind, but somewhere during my first interview when I was trying to market myself Affinity4 sold itself to me; I knew this company was the place for me.

I hit the ground running my first week. Learning the ropes and balancing school work was an anticipated challenge, but my experience can only be described as rewarding. Everyone in the office glows with Affinity4 spirit, the same spirit I felt the first time I walked into the office. I was already impressed by the mission of Affinity 4, but the goodwill of this company also shines through its employees. Each morning I am greeted by smiles which make me eager to learn and soak up all the knowledge I can.

God is always opening doors for me and I feel blessed. Over the past 3 years I have written countless papers, listened to numerous lectures, and studied a myriad of subject; sometimes it’s easy to forget what one is working for. This opportunity to apply my education in a working environment is a blessing. The future is still a realm of infinite possibility for me. While the door of undergraduate senior year maybe closing, Affinity4 has opened the door to new beginnings.

Across the board denominations are feeling the crunch. Enrollment in a group of 120 Jewish community day schools is reportedly down by 7%. The Association for Christian Schools International, representing about 3800 private schools reports enrollment down by nearly 5%. The Episcopal Church, Southern Baptist Convention, United Methodist Church, Catholic Church and other denominations have been forced to slash their budgets resulting in job cuts and closings for their ministries across the board.

We are all affected by the financial issues facing our nation. For many of us, just trying to decide how much and where to donate our money can be difficult and frustrating. We know that our first commitment is to our church. But we often have other ministries that are dear to our hearts! That’s the beauty of Affinity4. Even in times like these, without digging any deeper into our pockets we can help financially support our favorite charity or ministry by simply making a phone call, surfing the web, or even watching television through the 10% GiveBack Program. Ordinary activities, still leading to extraordinary giving!

It is inspiring to see the thousands of people that gather for cancer walks, awareness concerts, fundraisers, and various other events; progress is being made. Approximately 2.5 million breast cancer survivors are currently residing in the United States. It is their bravery that encourages so many others to press on and it is this month that has the power to make so many people thankful for their loved ones. While we should appreciate Breast Cancer Awareness year-round the empowerment stirred up in October can only be seen as a blessing.

What’s exciting about working here is that I am able to bring my years of experience from big corporate cultures to the operations of Affinity4. I know that I am working with people that are concerned with the success of the business not just because of the bottom line; but, because they are concerned with improving our world.
