Around and Around

2013-07-06T18:50:00.001-05:00

Just a few pictures from around the house, mostly just a few changes in the den.

Old stool, painted and grain sacked.

I ordered this awesome canvas radio card from Ruth @ The Beautiful life. I really Love it, it fills this space awesomely!

The metal hand was also ordered from Ruth!

I found this old velvet horse painting in my garage, I had bought it for the frame, and now loving the painting itself!

Old Doctor bag from e-bay a while ago, and just found the first aid kit at Cotton City, where I have a booth, that I STILL HAVEN'T SHOWN YOU. I will, promise.

I found these old auction paddles at a junk store in downtown Mobile. Cool huh?

Don't know why this is blurry....old box with red cross. I found 2 twine holders, had everything else.....

Old toolbox with old handmade string holders with string, the one in the back was my grandmothers.

Hope everyone had and is having a great Holiday weekend....Its raining here!!!! Take Care, Rhonda

A Few Changes

2013-04-03T12:12:00.001-05:00

Hey y'all...I've been bad...I know....Been busy making a few changes to my den.
I have been wanting a console table of some sort for a while, well, since I've seen a couple of yours.....so, I printed one off of the internet and took the picture to a guy who builds stuff and asked him to make it for me. It is cypress wood, its unfinished for now, until I decide what to do with it. I think maybe a white wash. What do you think?

Just ignore the ugly T.V.......Iam gonna get a Flat Screen real soon!!!

It's 70 inches long.

I moved the old prescription sign to over the mantle and changed stuff around some.

Over the T.V. See that old Women for Wallace sign? I found it lining an old picture frame I got from a junk store. I thinks its cool.

Found some of these little seed pots, finally. (reproductions)

Over the sofa, an old window screen, I made the old star, the pediment I made from an roadside headboard.

More to come......Hopefully it wont be so long!!! I will be linking to Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday! Her button is over there-> Take care!! Rhonda

Nifty and Thrifty Stuff

2013-01-21T14:26:00.002-06:00

Hey Ya'll, I get so absorbed into looking at other folks posts...that I don't even think about posting myself. I have been having computer problems like some of you, I too switched from Internet explorer and that fixed a lot of the problems. Anyway, I have some things to show you, try as I may, I just have such a problem trying to minimize...I have decided that I ain't gonna try no more, cause it just ain't gonna work. It's a security thing, I guess. (Besides the fact that I like it!) Here we go......

A shelf painted in chalk paint...not Annie Sloane...Maison Blanche.

A closer look at a section of the shelf, I dug that old cricket cage out of my Dad's junk pile. Shed antler from the farm.

Another closer shot of the shelf. The round disk with number's in the back is from a old green scale dismantled from Dad's junk pile.

The dress form was a roadside find that needed a little adjustment. I gussied her up with a rusty jar ring necklace and a canvas bag from Hobby Lobby, then I hung my Goodwill chandelier from her hip. Old screen door from Mr. Bills, (the best junk around), and added some architectural stuff to it.

The old newel post I bought from eBay and added the rusty metal weather vane to the top.

You really can't see the sign very well, but, I will show it better in a later post. I found it a the consignment shop that I take stuff to that don't work in my booth at Cotton City. The sign came from a pharmacy, it says: Save more everyday on prescriptions, ask our pharmacist. The deer head came from Target.
At lot more to share....later on....bye for now. Rhonda

A Little Christmas

2012-12-10T13:56:00.000-06:00

I have had my Christmas tree up and decorated since before
Thanksgiving. It is the old retro aluminum kind, so, there are no strings of lights on it. I just recently found a color wheel at Robert Moore Christmas Town, here in Mobile. Them things are pricey..but, no stringing lights!! (Works for me) I pulled out a few of my kids olde toys from the garage, to gussy up under it. There is a wooden rocking horse, a wagon with some rag santas, and my 14 year old's first teddy bear, his tonka trunk holding a wreath. I will use the wagon to hold presents, when I get them wrapped. Inspired by www.oldgreymare.blogspot.com.

I just put a small string of lights in 3 old jars for a little sparkle in my den next to the fireplace, and put a Santa Hat on Diana the Moon Goddess.

I also made 3 sweater jar candle covers, they look pretty at night when they are lit up.

If you look to the right of the tree, you will see the best kitty in the world!! This girl is Gracie, and she is almost 16 years old!!
I wish you all the best JOY that Christmas has to offer!!

Love to You!! Rhonda

Just More Stuff

2012-11-09T18:22:00.000-06:00

My name is Rhonda and I am a very bad blogger.

I really can not believe how fast time just sneeks by me, and I just haft to tell ya, I DON"T LIKE IT! My little brain is always in overdrive with things i want to do, (or need to do).

I have found some cool stuff lately, so I thought I would show you some of it.

I found the hooked horse rug at Goodwill
for 3.99. I just attached it to the old screen.

I had the old metal rack in a closet and just added some of my lronstone pitchers, the old minnow bucket is filled with fake lavender. I framed, well strung, some homey flash cards in the old white frame.

The wood horse came from the Salvation Army in Mississippi for 2.49...almost had a kanipption fit over that one. The beaded cross came from Cotton City. Oh, I have a small space there now. I will tell more about that later.

Just found the roll cutter and vintage bowling pins from ebay. I love ebay.......You can find anything there!!

More to come....I found the best estate sale ever today!!!!!!

WAITING FOR THE STORM

2012-08-27T16:55:00.000-05:00

I thought while we were waiting for whatever Isaac is gonna turn out to be, I would take and post a few photos. I've been kinda bad lately, and a lot going on, but, anyhoo.....Around the house:

It's Me

2012-07-12T16:05:00.000-05:00

Just checking in and letting any one who wants to know, that I am fine, but still struggling to find the way! Don't know if that will happen....but Iam still trying!!

Anyway, Ive been copy katting again, but with my own twist!

Muslin background, burlap flag, linen and more muslin, and jute webbing.

I like it!!

I found this sign at goodwill, it had a word that I did not understand, (Spanish I think), so I turned it into this....

White paint saves the day!!! Again.....

I had been looking for a heater surround for my mom, and I found this one....It dont work for her heater.....so....I just decorated it for summer, and it will live with me.

Dont ya hate when that happens????

I also what to thank you guys for the concern and meaningful comments. It means the world to me~!(sniff sniff)

WHITE WEDNESDAY

2012-02-07T13:39:00.000-06:00

Hey everyone! I am going to share my bedroom with you all today. I finally got it in presentable condition!! Only took me a year!!

I cati-cornered the bed off centered the wall. This bed belonged to my Grandmother, and it is sooo heavy. I had to buy a new mattress and box spring set though.
I used pieces of an old wedding dress I picked up at goodwill, and a fluffy skirt and 2 baby dresses and some wedding veils (sp) for window treatments over the blinds. I didn't buy anything new for this room..just used what I had, and I think it looks fine.
On the right side of the room is an old french dresser I found also at goodwill, a wicker vanity..also a goodwill find and my husbands granny's old chair. I hope you enjoyed looking at my room!!! Take Care!!! Rhonda

Thrifty Stuff

2012-01-30T23:21:00.002-06:00

I took a little trip to one of my favorite junk haunts on Friday, not really looking for anything in particular...when all of a sudden, I spotted this old window screen. I had been wanting one for a while, but, had never ran across one. I got so excited to see this baby....in all of its chippy goodness!

I decided to pair (or triple) it up with my old round mirror and my recently found vintage marriage certificate!

The box holding it all up is an old cabinet re-faced with a frame I found on e-bay a while back. It holds a few of my Marys. And can't forget Mr. Chicken lamp and my metal rack holding shiny stuff.

All which sits a top of my vintage wicker table I got for 40.00 at another haunt!!! I topped it all off with a length of burlap hanging from a rod suspended from the ceiling, (where my tapestry was hanging). Oh, it all is flanked by 2 vintage columns given to me by a friend.

I wish I could take down the 70's mirrored wall....but, Iam scared of what I'll find back there!!!! Oh great! Just ignore the hands and arms!!!

THE BIG ONE

2012-01-28T12:50:00.001-06:00

My husband.....the Great White Hunter...has not got one this season. Thank goodness this is the last week. Maybe, just maybe, I can get him to do a few things around here. (yea right). Anyway, since I had gotten used to the idea of having a live-dead animal hanging over my fireplace, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I was shopping around in a small shop the other day and low and behold, this puppy was just waiting for me to bring him home!

I could not leave without him!! He is made from (I think) sheet metal and tack welded together. Cool huh? I guess the Great White Hunter will have to wait till next year and shoot for a real one. I just hope it has horns!!

My Problem

2012-01-15T14:21:00.001-06:00

I....have a problem. At least thats what my family tells me. But, as we all know..some folks just don't get it! I NEED to have a cozy environment, other wise I would probably go nutty. There are 2 or 3 styles of decor I have fell for, and I have tried to combine them all in 1 house. I am constantly moving and changing and purging. The only thing is, although purging is a good thing, I always replace with other things. Its a constant rotation untill I get just the way I want it. But, do we ever get it just the way we want it? There is always something we (I) just haft to have!

My family calls me a hoarder...But, they have never seen those hoarding shows on TV.....so, Iam not a hoarder. Over the years, I have had several different styles of decor, such as Traditional, Asian, Cutesie country, French County......untill recently, I have settled on this combination of French Farmhouse Junk Style..for the lack of a better title.

What it really is, a combination of all the stuff I like..mixed and definately NOT matched. Just stuff.

This area is in a addition to the house..we just call it the Sunroom, I found the vintage glider in a junk pile, and fixed it up.

This is a wall in my Kitchen..see what I mean? Just a mismash of styles.

No matter what it is called...I just love it!!

What would you call it?? I would LOVE to know!!!

Take Care! Rhonda

When Is Enough....Enough???

2012-01-11T23:58:00.001-06:00

Hey everyone! I was looking around the house and rearranging and deleting some stuff, and decided to show you all my collection of Milk Glass for White Wednesday..Night that is. I started collecting milk glass a few years ago..lost interest and got rid of most of it. My Grandmaw passed several years ago and I ended up with a few pieces of hers, so I started it up again. I pick it up here and there, but it varies so much in price..kinda crazy really. I think Iam crazy for having so much of it..I can't stop.

                                      See, told ya!!!

A Few Pictures with My New Camera

2011-12-31T21:32:00.001-06:00

Sorry I havent been around...my camera up and died on me and I just got another from my oldest son for Christmas. I wanted to go ahead and post a few Christmas pictures..not many..not to bore anyone. I wish this aluminum tree would show up better than this..it really looks much prettier in person.

I had landscaping burlap around the bottom as a skirt..but, my weiner dog decided to weewee on it, and I took it up!

Never mind my ugly kitchen..(Just look at the weiner!)

I did not have the drive to decorate much this year..bad new runs rampant around here at Christmas-time.
I will be back with my awesome new present and some other goodies!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!!

I also had a visit with TJ Maxx....Here is what I got from there.......I have never paid 30.00 for a pillow before.......but, well here it is!
