But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel Exodus 1:12
I read a story of recent of the response of a potato, an egg, and coffee beans. When a potato boils in water, it gets softened up but leaves little or no effect on the water around it. And the same goes for the egg, when it boils in the water, the inside hardens up, the shell remains the same and leaves no effect on the water around it. But not so with the coffee beans; the more heat it gets, the more it changes the colour of the water around it to look like itself and fills the air with its aroma.
The water represents the situation around us or wherever the heat comes through to us. The key difference among the three is the strength; the ability to withstand heat and how it uses heat to change its environment.
Are you a potato, an egg, or coffee beans? Some people are like eggs with a soft inside that gets hardened up on the inside, become cold, cynical, withdrawn, and sometimes grow very mean, become tougher, and then they blame their bad experiences and circumstances of their life for their coldness.
Some are like the potato, which look tough and strong before the heat, but in no time due to trying situations, get weakened, softened up, and begin to run about and around like weaklings; sometimes they lay back and are unwilling to advance or try anything new because of fear.
But a believer in Christ is a man/woman of love and strength. He/She is like a coffee bean that influences his environment using the heat from it.
Beloved you are like an inflated ball; the harder you bounce it against a rock, the higher it goes. You are getting a raise from the afflictions brought your way in Jesus Name.
The Lord is your strength and it doesn’t matter what you’re going through; the persecutions, opposition, troubles that may come from the environment around you, but you are not breaking because of the living Word within you. The same troubles, afflictions, are what you need to change the environment around you, emitting the fragrance of His grace and knowledge. We glory in tribulation, we use persecutions; the trial of our faith is more precious than gold.
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 1:7
The bible says count it all joy (James 1:2). What you call trouble is what the heavens call training and open doors. Whatever comes your way, you are winning thru it in Christ Jesus Name. Remain strong in the Lord.

Text: Mt. 5: 13
MAINTAIN!

In the Nigerian local parlance, when we say to anyone ‘maintain’ what we mean is be yourself. Do you know yourself Child of God? One of the dimensions of you is the salt dimension. As a child of God, you are here on earth as salt to season the earth and bring out the God-flavors. Without you and other believers, the earth will self- destruct so God put us here to preserve His goodness, loving kindness, and mercy on the earth; things that make it impossible for the destruction that would have wiped out the earth. It is therefore crucial that we know who we are and ‘maintain’. In our text, the Lord Jesus is saying to us that if we fail to ‘maintain’ we stand the danger of being consigned into life’s garbage, and that means we would have lost our usefulness. Can you afford that? No, you can’t! A situation where because you are no longer useful, everything and anything now dominates you and overwhelms you cannot be something you want to experience.’Maintain’ and stay useful.

Text: Mt. 5: 19
CHOSE YOUR CLASS HERE!

I know many people who are violently opposed to a class society citing reasons like unequal opportunities, etc; for their stand. My attitude to class in society is informed by our text today and several similar scriptures. Our text says: “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven”. The Lord is Omniscient. He knows that some of us His children will deliberately live stubborn lives and mentor others to do the same. Particularly knowing that our ticket to heaven is exclusively procured by faith in the Lord Himself and not by works, the Lord knows that some of us will refuse to take seriously the issue of obedience to the 10 commandments. Consequently, He has it established that whereas the stubborn will be in the least class, the obedience will be in the great class. Which class do you desire? God is just. He is asking you to choose your class here before you get there.

Text: Mt.5: 23- 24
NO USELESS OFFERINGS PLEASE!

I have been a Pastor of a local assembly for a while now and one of the things that baffle me most is the impunity with which believers ignore our text for today. The Lord says: “if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift”. It is surprising to see people who sing in the same choir to be on no talking terms for years and yet they offer their gift of praise everyday on the same altar. Isn’t that useless offering? Two Elders who have hate in their hearts towards one another serving the Holy Communion at church, offering their gift of service on the same altar! Isn’t that useless offering? Our Lord is saying to us in simple words: “No useless offerings, please! He regards peace with our brethren far higher in order of preference than sacrifice. The reason is simple. A heart of unforgiveness pollutes the offering on the altar. In other words, where there is no peace as a result of lack of reconciliation and forgiveness, there is no basis for sacrifice. In fact He makes it even clearer that it is not necessary for the offending party to make the first move but the offended. Refusal to adhere to our text is one of the reasons for unanswered prayers in the church today. Don’t remain disobedient.

Prov.11: 18 SURE REWARD- 1 Daily Nuggets
No man has ever walked upon the surface of the earth and has gotten away with wickedness.

We do not live in a world where things go for free. There is a cost for everything. What you got for free has been paid for by someone else whether they know it or not, and whether you know it or not. However when it comes to evil the rule is slightly varied. Whatever evil you do whether now or in the future be rest assured you'll pay for it. That you did something evil and got away with it yesterday does not mean you have escaped scot-free. That a pay day is sure is what our text for today is loudly and clearly affirming. No man has ever walked upon the surface of the earth and has gotten away with wickedness. Though sometimes it appears so but believe me they get the sure reward at death in hell or they begin the payment here on earth first then pass it on to their children, and children’s Children unto the 3rd and 4th generation- {Dt 5:9}. God cannot lie. In Gal 6: 7-8 the Bible says: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever man sows, that shall he also reap. For he that sows to his flesh, shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting”. Whatever it is we do we shall get the sure reward.
