Shaukat Ali Khan (Late)
1960 - 2011

To,
H.H Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan
President Of U.A.E

Your Highness,

With all due respect I would like to say that my husband Mr Shaukat Ali Khan performed his services under your kind control for almost 18 years. About 6 years ago he suffered from heart disease. The doctors advised him an open heart surgery but we were not able to arrange such a huge amount for this operation. Hence, my husband died on 7th January 2011 leaving behind 5 children (2 boys ages of 8 and 10 years respectively and 3 girls with the ages of 12,16 and 18 years). We are now living from hand to mouth. The house in which we are living is rented and it is difficult for us to pay the monthly rent.

Therefore, I am not able to afford the education expenses of my children which has caused them to quit school.

For earning my livelihood I have started sewing ladies suits at home but the income which I generate is not sufficient for our needs. Therefore, you are requested to grant a reasonable monthly stipend for me and my children so they are able to continue their education and we can meet our basic needs as well.

I will be grateful to you for this act of kindness till the Day Of Judgement.

Awaiting your help,
Mrs Shaheen Ali Khan (Widow of the Late Shaukat Ali Khan)

H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Your Highness,

We the Ex employees of DAIRA AL KHASA Pakistan (DPA) appreciate the kind heartedness of His Highness for the people of Pakistan and we have the greatest of regards and respect for him. After the demise of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan DAIRA AL KHASA Pakistan (DPA) was closed in November 2006 and hundreds of employees were laid off.

Many had served for long periods of time devoting the best years of their lives in the services of the royal family.

Most employees have reached an age where it is not possible for them to find another source of livelihood. Majority of us are unemployed without proper housing, facing severe financial crises, children are not able to get education and even basic medical attention is not available to us.

Your kind heartedness is legendary we humbly request you to pass a decree in which Ex employees are given pension, housing, medical, special fund for children's education and transportation. This can be given in the form of 15 gratuities for each year of service as it will help us to spend the rest of our lives in peace.

May Allah give you long life, good health and happiness Ameen.

Your most humble

On behalf of hundreds of Ex employees

And approximately six thousand families members

THE REASON FOR REQUESTING A FINAL PACKAGE

Your Highness with a heavy heart we would like to bring to your kind attention the following reasons.

DPA salaries were well below as compared to other reputable companies in Pakistan. Proof can be given with comparison.
No increment was given for the year 2005-2006 increment not included in final Gratuity calculation.
No special bonus ever given.
The local management in Pakistan was totally mismanaged and disorganized.
Employees were not promoted for many years, there are many cases where employees have remained in the same grade for more than 20 years. Proof can be provided.
On a average an employee’s was promoted after after 9-10 years.
As per rule of DPA, employees has to be automatically be promoted after three years (this was never followed in letter or spirit).
Salary structure was last changed in 1994. Since then all allowances have remained the same and have not changed even when inflation skyrocketed (no change in 12 years).
Old age benefit scheme required by Pakistan law was not implemented in DPA as a result employees have been deprived of getting pension after retirement at the age of 60 years.
No medical benefits given to the employees even after approval given by Chairman DPA in August 2004. Copy of approval attached.
No contribution was made towards social security which would have ensured free medical care from hospitals. This resulted in paying from our own pockets when medical attention was required by the employees.
Received only one gratuity for each year of service in 2006 for final settlement.
Received two Bakhshish / ikramia payments in 2007 (after one year of termination of services).
When the Royal Family visited Pakistan Ikramia / tips were always not given as per actual amount, most of the amount was misappropriated.
We were always discouraged and warned not to approach the Royal Family to show our grievances.
Mr. Salem Niyadi (Assistant Undersecretary DPA Abu Dhabi) visited Pakistan in 2007 to meet a delegation of Ex employees in Islamabad to decide the fate of the final settlement. However, this meeting never materialized and we were forced to accept two ikramias / tips payments and signed a document which had miniature hand writing and not easily readable. This was done at the time of payment and we were told not to read it and were also told that if you don’t sign this document you will forfeit this payment TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT the majority of the employees being uneducated and poor accepted it under duress and heavy pressure from the UAE Embassy in Islamabad. (The Ambassador at that time was His Excellency Mohammad Ali Al Shamsi.

This is the bitter truth why we are suffering. Many employees have died because they could not afford attention as they are unemployed and without funds. Some have becomes psychiatric patients due to financial stress.

We are sure that you are unaware of our plight and the local management in DPA Pakistan Embassy and Consulate have kept you in the dark and not told you the actual situation.

We humbly request you to pass a decree to give us maximum benefits.

May Allah give you long life , good health and happiness Ameen.
