PAPER CUT OUTS

2014-06-24T21:40:00.000-07:00

I am always fascinated and have to admit a bit jealous of all the work have been done by just cutting out some paper. Okay, sounds easy, but not so much in reality.

One of those days I would love to be able to have the time, patience and skills to create similar things in large formats.

In the meantime, I would like to be able to create something like this as a visual background for one of my displays.

CRUISES AND TITANIC

2014-02-27T14:56:00.000-08:00

My son has been fascinated with Titanic and its story for about 2-3 months now. Every single day we read one of our brand new 5 different Titanic books. He is 6, but completely okay with such a big, sad disaster, and really wants to go to a cruise. I think one of the main reasons of his fascination is that how big and awesome the ship was as well as the fanciness of interiors.

This seems like a good possible new kid room concept. Cruise ship room!!!
Might be my next big project. :)

Holiday Windows: Barneys New York

Barneys New York teamed up with the Food Network, the Cooking Channel, and Illy to deck their Madison Avenue windows in a “Have a Foodie Holiday!” theme. A papier-mâché Mario Batali head sits on a platter, while a mannequin wearing a dress made of foil coffee bags and disposable cups sports an Illy espresso machine as a headdress. Simon Doonan and his madcap team have created a campy homage to the well-known foodies of today.

I love Pinterest, not only because you can store all your interesting visual finds, but also everyone else is doing the same thing and there are so many inspiring things in life all put together in one easy source.

It has definitely has become the first place I go to this days, when I have a very rough concept in mind and need more visual resource.

The Spring podiums are on their way. Can't wait to share them with you soon.

TREE HOUSE BEDS

2014-01-06T10:21:00.000-08:00

I always loved the bunk/loft beds. My son has one now, and he loves sleeping at the top, and the bottom of the bed turned into a soft toy + pillow craze. We bought the Ikea Kura bed, did nothing fancy to it. It has been almost 2 years, might be time to redo the room and make it really cool!

Some great ideas of tree house like bunk/loft bed designs are here. I wonder if he would like to sleep in a forest.

INDIGO

2014-01-05T11:21:00.000-08:00

I am loving the new Pottery Barn catalog, INDIGO.

There are many pieces I would love to have in it. It also making me home sick in a way; seeing so many things look so much Turkish or reminds me Turkey, all that blue...

METALLIC

2014-01-04T10:17:00.000-08:00

I am inspired with the bright colors and metallics for the upcoming Chinese New Year podium set up.

Let's hope that I could gather things as trendy. After all it is New Year celebrations...

Year of Horse

2014-01-03T12:12:00.000-08:00

Lunar New Year set up on its way. I hope this year will bring everyone great, new, exciting things in their lives.

The spirit of the horse is recognized to be the Chinese people's ethos – making unremitting efforts to improve themselves. It is energetic, bright, warm-hearted, intelligent and able. Ancient people liked to designate an able person as 'Qianli Ma', a horse that covers a thousand li a day (one li equals 500 meters).

They say it is lucky to wear red and/or gold. How about some party pieces from Bloomingdale's.

BELIEVE - MACY'S HOLIDAY WINDOWS

2014-01-02T10:05:00.000-08:00

On the first day of the New Year, we played the tourist in the city for a bit. Here are a few quick shots of Macy's side windows. They have partnered with SPCA for adoptions. What a great idea!

2014

2014-01-01T12:04:00.000-08:00

It has been so long since the last time I have visited you, blog. You may not know but it has been very busy and great year for me. 2013, brought 2 jobs to my plate, one full-time, one becoming more and more full-time. One for a very big corporate, one my own, dream job to be. You know I love anything creative, visual, especially when I get to shop for decorations, when I get to design and come up with the concept. I now have a small business I get to do all that, I have 2 amazing, young assistants whom help me to put it all together. Like I said, it has been great!

One of my new year resolutions is that I will be more on top of all of my communications and you are one that I have almost forgotten about.

Imagine if this was a short movie and we were playing go back in time to see what has happen within a year. I promise I will be better in 2014.

RAINBOW ROOM

2012-02-16T15:42:00.000-08:00

Do not tell my husband, but I am secretly wishing to redo Alex's room. Not that rest of the house is done or anything, but I have to admit that even though it is the tiniest room in the house and hard to work with, it is also the one excites me the most when I think about it. And of course you know the possibilities are endless.

As he grows and learns more, his interests do change. He has become very interested in making art, (not so much of looking at the real art yet) and just like any of his friends he is in love with the RAINBOW colors at the moment.

Is it possible to create a rainbow inspired room for a boy? Of course it is. Look at some of the great ideas I have found out there...

SketchUp, 2nd Assignment

2012-02-15T10:12:00.000-08:00

After couple of brief Sketch Up sessions at the class and lots of online tutorials, I finally finished my second assignment for this week. Tonight we will learn how to transfer AutoCAD files into and build from that, so exciting.

interior; a classroom, entrance and the library

We have used one of our first assignments to create whatever we wanted to build, I have decided turn my cube into a school. I would have done a lot more, but I have been badly sick for the last 10 days and my computer has kept crashing and not allowing me edit anymore, so this is it for now.
